Sidestory 1.2 - Ice fox

Author’s Corner: HELLO HELLO! Another extra because I have to study for a test I have tomorrow!

ANYWAY, I kind of got the impression that not many people got the cookie joke at the end of the last side story chapter… for any one curious, it is on the 9th chapter, right at the warning part.

ALSO, for the extra’s character, I would like if you guys could give me information somehow in this format:

Name and Nickname: Wargon (Gondorrer Dogsbane.)

Gender: Male ||  Race: Golem ||  Class tree: Mage/rogue ||   Class: Spell sword (not actually his class in the future, still a secret)

Equipment: Scale mail chest, rest Chain mail. Sword and shield.

Brief description: Vivid brown rock skin, cool (creepy) green shining eyes, green body-tatoo glow.

Brief playstyle: Easy rage tank.

Brief personality: An idiot.

Or something like that… There should still be around 5 or so normal chapters before the extra, but I will pick a couple from all the posts until then…

ALSO (2) Sorry for not being able to update the regular chapters (T.T)

“Okay, bad jokes aside” The green eyed golem started to scratch his cheek awkwardly. “I was… Actually… Kind of trying to create a skill for me…”

“Skill?” Yuu asked curious. It wasn’t the first time she had heard that word, Mary had said that many times before, and even the other people in the town would say it once or twice. She initially had thought that it had its literal meaning, like saying that someone good with a sword had a skill with it, but she had noticed that it wasn’t exactly like that.

For a brief moment she tried to understand what this person could mean by creating a skill, and just as she was about to ask, she remembered that she had yet to introduce herself. She felt ashamed to miss such an important thing. She hastily bowed to the golem, who seemed surprised.

“Forgive-me, I forgot to introduce myself.” She said while feeling shame due to her carelessness. “I am…” For a brief moment, she almost introduced herself by her real name, but finally managed to remember that this wasn’t supposed to happen inside the game. “Tatenaka Yuki… Or simply Yuu. It is a pleasure to meet you.” The word sounded strange for her, introducing herself by another name.

The golem gave her a slight and awkward bow in response.

“I am Gondorrer Dogsban…” He suddenly stopped and looked away for a moment, this left Yuu a bit curious. “Gondorrer Gravelheart, with Gondorrer being my given name, but you can call me Wargon in here. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Yuu.” Yuu nodded in approval, although wondering why he would use the given name before the surname.

“Then, Wargon-san…” She said while avoiding to stay too informal with the person she just met. “If it were not a bother to you, could you please help me with something?”

And then she quickly explained to him what had happened to her and her friend and how she is new to the game, and would likely end up needing some pointers. Wargon readily agreed to help, but when she asked about skills, he looked surprised for a moment.

Then he asked for some time before starting to talk with no one in particular. Yuu initially thought he had gone crazy or something, but that didn’t seem to be the case, as he did not have the look of someone who lost his sanity. Although she could hear what he was saying, there were some strange and specific words here and there, so she ended up at loss on their meanings.

Finally, the golem turned back to her and made a strange question.

“Say, Yuu… Could you tell me from where you are playing?” Yuu immediately backed off. Mary had warned her of players like these that try to approach you and gather information about your real life and use it to their advantages.

“… My friend told me to not reveal any personal information in the game!” She stated, and readied herself to fight or run if necessary, but his next words shocked her.

“The you have a really good friend.” He said with a smile that caught her off guard. “Then, let me start… I am a Brazilian, and no, I don’t speak Japanese!”

This took a good time for it to sink in her head, leaving her confused, until the confusion became shock and suspicion, but he didn’t seem to be lying.

This made absolutely no sense to this sheltered princess. She had never had much contact with high technology. Even her cellphone, despite being one of the bests in the market, is only used to answer and make calls, so the idea that the person had never once spoken anything in Japanese all this time, despite the fact that she only heard Japanese, made her stand still in shock.

Stolen novel; please report.

A good amount of time had passed before she recovered, and then she noticed that he had been patiently waiting her. She quickly apologized, but he quickly dismissed it as unnecessary.

Now she felt bad for having shown so much hostility towards him, who had even offered himself to help her earlier, and was resigning herself to look for another person, but.

“Will you still want some help?” He asked with a playful smile.

“But would it not be a bother to you to teach someone from a different country like me?” She asked worried.

“Why would it bother me? This is actually really interesting!” He laughed.

He was even willing to teach someone like her, who had even showed so much hostility to him for pretty much no reason? And not even being from the same country as him? She honestly regretted having thought, even if for only a moment, that he was actually a bad person, and decided that from now on, she would show her ultimate respect to someone so forgiving like him.

She bowed deeply.

“Thank you very much, Gravelheart-dono!” She said with heartfelt sincerity.

“What is it with the ‘Gravelheard-dono’ all of a sudden?” He looked a bit surprised with her sudden action, but she still went on.

“You, who do not even live in the same country as I do, is willing to spend your precious time with a person such as me to teach me the basics of this game! It is only in the right for me to demonstrate my appreciation to such a great person like yourself, Gravelheart-dono!”

After that, he was visibly shaken, and asked for her to drop the formalities, but she refused to go any lower than calling him Wargon-dono, as anything more than that and she would be unable to show her respect.

Then, he started to think for a moment, before he did something, then a blue window, just like the one she had seen in the dark room earlier appeared before her. When she read it, it was saying that Wargon was trying to invite her to a party.

She quickly searched her mind for the meaning of the word, and when she found, two ideas came to her sheltered princess of a mind. One that he was inviting her to a social party like her father usually would take her, but somehow his manners didn’t really fit with that idea. The second one would be a tea party where they would sit and discuss things over a cup of tea, as this one seemed a lot more likely, she decided this one was the most likely of both, but…

“I’m sorry, Wargon-dono, but I fear that I do not have any tea for a party!”

She felt worried that this would somehow make him regret helping her, but as he started to laugh, she became confused.

“It’s not that kind of party!” He said after calming himself down. “Party in a game like this, mean a group of people who do thing together.”

She felt extremely embarrassed for having misunderstood the meaning, but luckily managed to hide it while accepting the invitation. Afterwards, Wargon had her manipulating various of these windows, and he would always have a pensive face, as he started to analyze them.

Then he stopped to think before finally turning back to her. His face completely different from the relaxed expression he always had, having suddenly an extremely dignified aura around him.

“ATTENTION APPRENTICE YUUKI!” He said in a loud voice with a strange and familiar pressure to it. Her body automatically reacted as she would whenever her grandfather would give her a lecture on martial arts with a similar tone. “From now on, you are going to be my one and only apprentice, so I will teach you everything I know about MMO gaming until you are more than able to climb to the very top of the scoreboard, do you hear me?”

“Y-yes…” She was still at loss on how a person could change so suddenly.

“I did not hear you, apprentice! Say it clearly!” He said on a disapproving and commanding tone.

Her body shivered as it remembered what happened whenever her grandfather would use that voice, and before she could even hold herself, she ended up answering.

“Yes, Shishou!”

How she wanted to hide herself into a hole after having said that...
