Chapter 107.5 - 401

Chapter 107.5 - 401

THIS IS BAD! THIS IS BAD! THIS IS BAD!

Running through the corridor, I quickly saw as the door I searched for appeared after a turn. With ‘Break room’ written over it, I immediately recognized it as a more than frequently used room of mine. However, I didn’t really have enough time to wonder about the wonderfully lazy times I managed to spend there between chapter recordings, so I quickly slammed it open while shouting.

“GUYS! I JUST CAME BACK FROM A TALK WITH THE AUTHOR! WE HAVE AN OMEGA THREE WHITE CODE! I REPEAT! AN OMEGA THREE WHITE CODE!” I shouted, surprising the others who were present on the room.

While they were recovering, I quickly approached Yuu and took the cup of juice she had before gulping it down in one fell swoop and slamming it back on the table. The kitsune looked at me surprised for a moment, but when she saw me still catching my breath she calmed down.

“…What’s an Omega three white code, Shishou?” She asked me once I finally managed to calm down.

“It means: The author was overworked from college and didn’t manage to write the chapter for april’s fool!” I said quickly.

“Isn’t that… Oddly specific?” Hanbei asked suspicious.

“Not really. We have around three hundred different codes already prepared to be honest. And a new batch should arrive soon.” I said seriously before shaking my had. “Anyway, THIS IS BAD!”

“Why is this so bad teacher?” Lily asked while petting Rio back to sleep. “I mean, it’s not that important. It’s just a date where people prank each other, right?”

“Look here, Lily. That may be true for other people, but not for us.” I took a deep breath before slamming my hand on the table. “WE ARE INSANIA! WE ARE THE ILLOGICAL FOOLS! FOR US, APRIL’S FOOL IS A MATTER OF LIFE OR DEATH!”

“Waah… Is it that serious?” The undine asked surprised.

“Serious doesn’t even begin to describe it! WE NEED to come up with something for today even if it means that we’ll do it ourselves!” I said before taking a seat besides Yuu and looking around. “Any one have any suggestions? Anything April’s fool related is good.”

For a moment, the people sitting around the room looked between each other as they tried to come up with ideas, but from the looks of it, they weren’t having any good ideas for now. Well, not that I blame them. Even for me this was a bit too sudden.

The first one to give his idea was Ozzur, who raised a hand and said:

“Why don’t we try to follow the author’s original plans? I mean, even if he didn’t write it, it’s not like he didn’t plan it, right?” He said curious, but I quickly shook my head.

“No can do. I already asked him and he said that his plan was to write a normal chapter and simply add ‘Happy april’s fool’ at the end, making the readers go crazy trying to find out how he had tricked them.” I explained.

“Wow… That’s kind of mean.” Lily said surprised.

After all, my first idea was exactly the same as the mummy’s, so it’s no wonder that I didn’t miss the chance to ask him Nodding satisfied, Ozzur once again leaned back on his chair and went back to thinking.

“What about we change places with the actors from the other sets?” Hanbei asked. “I think they were from Spiritsmith and (Re)install, right?”

“That… Would be a bit difficult…” Yami said worriedly.

“Huh? How so?” Hanbei asked surprised.

“Well, I also have a role in (re)install as the new scientist, and if I’m not mistaken, Yami is playing the role of Dia in spiritsmith.” I said while throwing a glance to Yuu, who simply looked down.

“I… had to hit Shishou…” The kitsune said as her ears drooped down sadly. I quickly cheered her up by petting her.

“HUH? EVEN YUU?” Hanbei shouted surprised. “HOW COME I NEVER HEARD OF THIS?”

“Well, their new roles are fairly recent, so I think the news didn’t spread yet.” Crys butted in with her goddess form after blinking into existence. “That said, are you sure it’s a good idea to make this april’s fool thing? I mean, the story’s anniversary is in four days, you know?”

I froze for a moment before turning towards her in shock. From the looks of it, the others also were completely shocked from her words, as they all simply stared at her in confusion.

“You mean... It’s been one year since the story started?” I asked trying to understand her words.

“Well, more precisely, it’s been three hundred sixty two days since the first chapter, to be precise.” She said with a smile, to which I simply stared at her in shock.

“YOU MEAN THAT IN ONE YEAR, I ONLY GOT TO LEVEL THIRTY SOMETHING?” I shouted surprised. WHAT WITH THAT HORRIBLE LEVEL EFFICIENCY! IT’S LIKE ONE LEVEL EVERY TEN DAYS!

“Remember that only one week or so have passed within the story, Gon.” Crys said in a solemn tone, to which I blinked before nodding. That’s right, the time in the story is different from real time. I forgot about that…

WAIT! THIS HAS GONE FROM BAD TO WORSE! NOW WE HAVE TO FIGURE OUT SOMETHING FOR APRIL’S FOOL AND THE STORY’S ANYVERSARY! NOOOO!

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

“QUICKLY! WE NEED IDEAS! ANYONE GOT SOMETHING?” This is bad, bad, bad. THIS IS THE WORST! “WE HAVE A REPUTATION TO KEEP UP GUYS! QUICKLY!”

“Shishou, what exactly do you want?” Yuu asked from besides me, to which I blinked before frowning. “Would it not be easier if we had a better idea of what exactly we want for the special?

“That’s… Actually a great idea.” I said with a nod before frowning. “Well, this is an Insania April’s fool thingy, so we need to do something IO style.” I said while frowning.

“And what exactly is something IO style?” Yami asked curious while sipping a can of soda.

“Well, we basically get something normal and expected, then give it a twist in a way that people didn’t expect.” I explained before turning to the side, where a man in a suit was carefully enjoying a sandwich by giving it symmetrical bites. “Kinda like how our god of Chaos have OCD. Everyone expected the God, but not that he would be like that.”

“Why did you have to use me as an example?” Arkhoss asked suspicious.

“Because you were the first thing to come to mind.” I dismissed his suspicion before turning to the guys on my table. “So, we need something unique to do this april’s fool. Maybe play the prank on someone unexpected?” I said getting a bit more excited.

“Who would we play the prank on then?” Hanbei asked dubious.

“Well, normally the prank would be played on the readers, so we can rule them out.” I said with a nod.

“Then, who does that leaves us with?” She asked again. “I mean, we have the author?”

“Hmm… it would be a good one. I bet he wouldn’t see it coming.” I nodded satisfied. “That said, it would be a bit difficult to pull something like that and put it into a chapter…”

“Then… What about playing a prank on another character?” Yami said with a nod. “Something like, you and Cygnas-dono both go on a date to prank her father. If we made the making of that It would lead to some interesting scenes, I’m sure of it.”

“That… Could actually work.” I said with a nod. “I mean, I’ve seen people playing tricks on others, but never of the backstory of that… OKAY! Cygnas, get ready! We have a date to plan!” I said while standing up and looking at Cyg, who simply stood there shocked and confused.

“…Huh?” The goddess wannabe said surprised. “Wait… WHAT?” She said while I stood up.

“HEEEH? Why with Cygnas” Yuu said while standing up.

“Because everyone expects that his first date would be with you.” Yami explained, to which Yuu simply blushed confused.

“With me…?” She asked while giving me upturned eyes.

GUUUH! I wanted to go and tease her a bit more, but as much as I desired so, I didn’t have the chance, seeing how we were already midway through april’s fool, and time was running short. Feeling a tinge of regret in my heart, I steeled myself and prepared to leave the room while pulling Cygnas with me.

However…

“Happy april’s fool, Gon!” A voice came from the other side of the door not even a moment after I opened it.

“…Huh?” I asked surprised while watching the Author as he smiled and put his arms around my shoulders in an overly friendly manner.

“By the way, I really want to thank you for all your hard work on this April’s fool short special. Now, thanks to you I won’t have to write anything anymore!” He laughed loudly before giving me some slaps on my back. “Well, that said, now I have to go back to studying.” He said with a disgusted tone before walking away with a piece of paper in his hand.

We all simply stared at him go for a good few minutes before it finally clicked.

He… HE TRICKED ME!

THE AUTHOR PULLED AN APRIL’S FOOL ON ME JUST SO WE WOULD MAKE THE STORY FOR HIM?

THAT BASTARD!

I WAS THE ONE SUPPOSED TO DO THE TRICKING HERE! THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE MY DAY!

That was how I, a character, was tricked into an april’s fool prank from the author to entertain the readers.

I’m SOOOOO having my revenge later…

With that thought, I went back into the room and sat down angrily on the chair.

Well, I still have work to do tomorrow, so for now, let’s start planning.

----

Author’s corner: HELLO HELLO! A quickie just to say that I did something!

ANYWAY, the part about college been killing me is true, so that’s why I couldn’t do anything bigger for today. In fact, this was just a short chapter I pulled up in a couple of hours since you guys were so looking forward to it. That said, I did try to add a small twist to it at the very least. Hope it was entertaining.

ALSO, hopefully, I should be able to pull off the chapter this weekend, but anyway, I’m almost done with Spiritsmith and should put it up by today.

ALSO(2), seriously, don’t ask for much more. It’s been exhausting for me recently and this is all I could get. As much as I wanted, this ISN’T an april’s fool joke (T.T)

ALSO(3), I did say to trust NO ONE.

Hope you had a good read.
