Author’s corner: HELLO HELLO! I’M NOT DEAD TIME! (At least not physically.)
ANYWAY, For those who were after a long crafting session, well this is it. 5.6k words of sheer craftiness. Mostly. Hope you guys are happy with this because this chapter seriously killed me to get it done. Proof being the time in the making. I did plan on extending the crafting for a couple more chapters, but I’m sincerely exhausted from writing crafting scenes, so I might just gloss over what he does next. For those who were looking forward to it, I’m really sorry, but I feel that if I try to prolong this even more, I might just finish this next year. On the other hand, this hopefully means that the releases get a bit faster if I go back to sheer goofyness.
HOPEFULLY, because I’ve been really dry in writing motivation recently. Even my usual catchphrase in the Den (that being: I just had a new idea for a story!) haven’t been in much use for the last two or three months. So yeah…
ALSO, with this, a new weapon is born. Following the brand new tradition of having you guys come up with a name for me, I want you guys to recommend me a name for the hammer. Below are some details of the weapon, possible spoilers ensues, so beware.
Spoiler :
-Slow but heavy hitting.
-Made from the materials of a Sulfuric Impaler Matriarch
-2 skills, an explodey one, and a stabby one. They share cooldowns.
-Simple, yet effective.
-It’s made by Gon.(This might not be true(Or it could be(Or not)))
And for what I have in mind, it’s this:
Spoiler :
Sulfuric Tantrum or Tectonic Tantrum
Have a good read!
Edit: Accidentally created three threads for chapter 109. Tee hee~~ *Knocks on head cutely*

Once the first ingots were done, I gave some to Lily and took some for myself so that I could start testing the craft on these odd ingots. Since the work on Rio’s armor was pretty much done on my side, I gave her the permission to leave on the condition that she wouldn’t help Lieutenant start another civil war.
On the other hand, I also asked Aura if she wanted to leave, but she was happily laying in a corner of the room watching as either we worked around with our things or Pebblesworth fiddled around with a long string of something, seemingly trying to knit something with it. Well, looks like Yuu found herself her own apprentice. Isn’t it cute?
However, before looking back to the work ahead of me, my eyes rested on the bone-jelly thing I had gotten from the Matriarch’s abdomen. Suddenly, a thought crossed my mind as I picked some of the still intact shells from the smaller ones and started looking it over.
“Hey, Lily. Do you recall seeing something like that in the smaller ones?” I asked while pointing towards the jelly.
The undine blinked surprised before shaking her head as she tried to recall back to when we were skinning the smaller ones. I turned to Crys who was still nearby, seeing how she had taken her time to actually take the meat away from the spiders after I was done with the shells, but she simply shrugged.
Wait, does that means that lunch today will be spider-meat?
Somehow I’m both curious and worried at the same time. On the bright side, I at least knew that they didn’t have poison, so I probably don’t have to worry about that.
Thinking about it…
I picked one of the smaller shells from the spiders and held it before in contemplation. After a moment I bit down into it and felt as teeth sunk into the surprisingly soft shell, but a weird taste covered my mouth.
“…Yeah, don’t think that works…”
“Maybe it contains too much organic material in there?” Lily suggested while tilting her head, and I nodded in agreement.
“Tastes weird.” I said while throwing the shell back into the pile.
“…Am I missing something here?” Ozzur asked confused.
“Me. Golem. Eat ore.” I pointed at myself, then to the shells. “Kind of oreish, but not enough.”
“…I see…”
Satisfying his curiosity, I finally turned back to the shells and frowned slightly. Now that I think about it, I don’t think I’ve seen the smaller spiders use that whole impaling thing on their own. Does that means that the jelly is somehow related to the whole spike thing?
And thinking about it, there were those nerves that ran on the spider’s abdomen, near where I found the jelly, right? And Crys suggested that they might have something to do with the spikes, so is there a chance that this was also part of it?
Hmmm…
“Crys, can you test something for me?” I asked her once a thought crossed my mind.
She blinked surprised while approaching me, and once I told her what I wanted her to do, she quickly widened her eyes and nodded. I accessed my inventory and gave her some elemental crystals so that she could test around for me.
Hearing the sound of hammer hitting the ingot, echoing a particular type of sound unlike that of normal forging. Noticing that Lily had already started on working with her own ingots, I also decided that it was enough procrastination, so I put my ingot back into the forge and started re-heating it up.
Bringing it out, I started doing my routine, starting with a dagger since the material cost was fairly low. What really caught my attention was that the ingot seemed soft in the first, but would quickly harden after a moment of the impact, almost as if it was cushioning the blow before hardening. Finding it amusing, I quickly became annoyed once I noticed that it meant that the hammering would take a lot longer as each impact was weaker than usual.
Yeah, this is annoying.
This pretty much mean that I have to use even more effort to change it into the shape I want. And if it carries on this characteristic once the project is complete it will pretty much mean that it will be nearly useless as a weapon, as any edge would deform easily, and it would softer the impact if I make it a blunt weapon.
Well, for now, it’s still in its test phase, so let’s hope that’s not the case. While thinking so, I once again went back into hammering the ingot into shape. It was an annoying and surprisingly difficult process, thanks to the fact that I had to take in account the whole softening thing, so I had to remake this first dagger a couple of times just so it could work.
However, one thing that caught my eyes was how the ingot would return a tad bit darker and a tad bit harder every time I would remove it from the forge, almost as if it was slowly being burned away.
From the looks of it, Lilly had the same idea as mine, as she had left an ingot a bit away from the source of the heat so that it wouldn’t melt, but was slowly gaining a darker coloration.
Smart girl. And this actually somehow makes sense, seeing how the matriarch did have a darker coloration to her and the shells were hard as hell to penetrate.
By the time I finished the dagger, It was nearly lunch time, as Crys had warned me before she left the smithy to go prepare lunch. I nodded and quickly took a good look at the weapon in my hands.
Wicked arachnid dagger.

Well, I can see Argento getting really happy about this. While thinking so, I turned towards Lily and saw as she was about to finish her own thing. I stood back and watched. Surprisingly enough, she didn’t go for a weapon, but an armlet instead.
“So, how did it go?” I asked her when I noticed a small frown in her face.
“Muuh. Only normal quality.” She complained. “Why didn’t mine get a high quality like yours?”
“Probably difference in experience?” I said in doubt. “I mean, it’s not like I started straight into good and excellent gear, you know?”
““…You didn’t?”” Ozzur and Lily asked me doubtfully.
“…Why do the two of you sound surprised?” I asked annoyed.
“Welll… it’s just that…”
“From what I learned about you today, I wouldn’t be surprised if you had actually done that.” Ozzur commented drily.
I held back my desire to hit him over the head. I mean, I know I’m not exactly the sanest around, but even I get offended. Heck! There's even some time since I last did something stupid and reckless!
Oh, wait, I just hunted the matriarch earlier today... Dang it!
Okay, okay. I get it that commonsense doesn't seem to apply to me in most cases, okay? Common sense is overrated anyway.
Shaking my head, I turned back towards the armlet that Lily had crafted and looked over it. It wasn’t a bad job in any manner, but it certainly lacked something compared to what I would do. Giving a look to the undine who looked bothered by the state of the item, I thought that this is probably the part where I should say something inspiring to my disciple, right?
Let’s see… Something inspiring… inspiring… Aspiring… Aspirin… Hmm…
Why do I suddenly have a headache? Geez, maybe I haven’t been drinking enough water recently. I did hear that not drinking enough water can cause a headache, right? Speaking of drinking, would I be able to drink petroil? I mean, if rock is edible, it wouldn’t be strange for oil to be drinkable by a golem, right?
“Teacher?”
“Wuzzah?” I blinked surprised and turned towards Lily who was looking at me confused. “What?”
“No… it’s just that you looked distracted…”
“Ahh… Sorry about that. My mind kind of wandered back there a bit.” And couldn’t you have said that I was in deep thought? So that I could at least save some face here?
“It’s fine.” She said while picking the piece back again and looking at it slightly disappointed. “And I even tried to do what you said, but it looks like I don’t have much talent with this…”
As she said that, she started looking downcast, which wasn’t exactly heartwarming, so I instinctively rested my hand on her head and started patting her to see if she would cheer up. It usually worked with Yuu and Aura, at least.
“I’m… Not really sure what you could do to improve it, to be honest.” I said, and saw as she sighed disappointed. “But then, as I had said, that was how I thought it would have worked. I’m not entirely sure if what I said is correct or not. Heck, it might even be that it would be different based on who’s doing the job.”
“I see…” She nodded.
“…Hey, cheer up, will you? Maybe it’s just that you have talents lying somewhere else, you know?”
“Talents… Somewhere else?” She asked curiously.
“Yeah. You did come up with the ideas for Rio’s wing-armor, right?” I said while recalling her help earlier on. She stopped for a moment to think, and I took the chance to go on. “Just keep training and you’ll probably get it.”
Did this work? Please say that it actually worked on cheering her up. I suck at this whole cheering people up. While keeping my internal worries quiet, I watched as Lily looked at the armlet for some time before taking a deep breath and nodding. Clearly cheering up a bit.
“Thanks teacher.” She said with a smile.
“Great. Now let’s get something to eat before we go back to working, shall we?” I said while trying to change the topic. She nodded and we started cleaning up the forge before leaving.
On the way out, Ozzur stopped me and said.
“You had no idea what to say if she didn’t cheer up, did you?”
“Shut it, wise guy.” I replied annoyed.
…
We met up with Crys and Co. At the outskirts of the town. We COULD have eaten at a restaurant, but seeing the sheer amount of people that we had, it proved to be a bad idea. On the other hand, this did mean that we would have to eat the meat of some spiders that create explosive silk within their bodies.
What could possibly go wrong there? It’s not like it’s disturbing or dangerous at all!
Now, I hope you understand that the line above was thought in a tone seeping with sarcasm and worry.
Now you can imagine my face when I found out that magma spider tasted like fish! Or was it chicken? Something in between at least. And it was good. Like, reaaaally good. And we had quite a few different dishes to taste from. From some sashimi looking things, to stew and fried.
I must say that the fried one was ungodly good. Lieutenant and Hanbei agreed with me, as we all wolfed down on it ferociously to the point that Crys had to scold us to leave some to the others.
Yes. I knew that making Cyg a body so that she would cook for us was by far one of my best ideas ever.
Sometime in between Argento joined us and became surprised with seeing Ozzur with us, but soon his mind changed into trying to commercialize the spider-meat seeing how Crys managed to pull out some amusing buffs from them all.
For example, Fried gave fire resistance, while the sashimi gave defense up. All of which lasting up to two hours of in-game time. Which is actually pretty big if you think about it.
No need to say that he snatched my dagger from my hand the moment I said it was a product for him to sell and happily began thinking of the price he could ask for such a thing. That said, I became kind of worried when he mentioned that the armor piercing bonus might be famous with PKers…
Oh well.
“Oh yeah, Moneybags.” Argento suddenly said. “Lord Wich said that he need to talk with you later. Something about your house that he found out.”
“Hmm? Is that so?” I replied surprised. “Then maybe I should go see him now…”
“I don’t think right now it’s a good idea. Last I saw him; he was leaving to see to some matters around the city. He said he’d be back by night, though.” Supplies said, cutting me short.
“Oh. I see…” I frowned feeling a bit curious. “Did he mention anything about what it could possibly be?”
“I didn’t hear anything about it to be honest. He just told me to tell you next time I met you.” Supplies said with a shrug. “That said, I’m surprised that you are getting the house instead of money. I was sure you’d have taken the long term money income.”
“Well, yeah. I did think about that.” I said with a nod before turning to the Kitsune who was happily nibbling on the spider sashimi. “But when I consulted with Yuu, she decided that having a house might be more advantageous to us in the long term.”
“Really?” He asked me surprised.
“Yeah. Seems like I get some nice bonus such as more resources and better crafting if I own a house. And I can get some other nifty bonus such as a dojo to train skills too to boot.” I gave the brief version of what Cyg told me during lunch, and this made not only Argento, but also Lily and Ozzur widened their eyes in surprise.
“I… Didn’t know that.” Argento said surprised while frowning.
“I never heard about that either, teacher.” Lily said doubtfully.
“Pretty sure it’s Chosen exclusive. Seeing how we don’t really have as much need of as you guys. Otherwise it would be mostly a waste of gold with taxes while earning pretty much nothing in exchange. At least as far as I know.” I said in a teaching tone.
“…How come I never heard of that?” I suddenly felt a chill down my spine as I heard Ozzur inquire in a very serious tone. “I’m pretty sure no one has bought a house as of yet, or else that info would be spreading around like mad.”
“Well…” I took a sip of the juice that Crys had prepared for us as a way to earn some time to think. “I asked that girl from the login screen. She actually explain a good bunch of the systems if you ask her nicely.” Nice! Problem solved by passing it to someone else!
And you can stop glaring holes into me by now Crys. It IS your job, so there’s no need to get mad at me.
Ozzur raised an eyebrow surprised, but nodded after a moment and going back to lunch. Seriously, when did he decide to join us?
“Tek-Tek!”
“Here you go.” I said while passing another small ore piece to Pebblesworth, who happily started gnawing on it. Seriously, that mummy sure is getting bold by joining us without being called. He should learn some manners. “By the way, Yuu. Did you manage to prepare the silk?” I asked the kitsune as I finished feeding the sprite.
This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.
“Ah. Hmm.” She nodded happily. “I managed to remove the explosive powder that coated the silk. About the nerves… I still need to weave and then strengthen the nerves so that they get a bit more rigid, but it shouldn’t take too long.”
“…Silk?” Argento quickly reacted to the expensive sounding word with a curious glance.
“Yeah. Want to see if I can use the string to upgrade my bow for some more damage.” I explained indifferently. “But it’s a bit dangerous to use an explosive string on a fire-damage bow, so I asked Yuu to try and make it a bit more manageable.” I said before frowning. “Yeah… I don’t want any more of that exploding in my face any time soon.”
“Sounds like an amusing story.” Argento mentioned with a raised eyebrow.
“Only for you.” I said while sighing and chugging down a glass of juice. “And before you ask. No. I’m not selling the silk.” I said before he could bring up the idea. “At least until I finish my crafting, that is.”
“Damn…” He cursed. “Can I at least get some of the prototypes?”
“Why am I not surprised?”
…
With lunch out of the way, a satiety bar full and an idea in my head, I made my way back to the forge alone, since Lily decided to take a brief rest after lunch, and started practicing on the smaller spider shells. I spent the next hour or two simply crafting some basic items like swords and gauntlets from the materials I had while making a few experiments myself.
One of the things I tested was trying to adjust the amount of scale-metal that went into the spider’s alloy shell. I found out that adding a bit more of the ore would increase the hardness nicely, while making the whole burn to harden thing a bit more difficult.
That said, adding too much made the alloy strangely soft and completely unusable.
After experimenting some more and managing to get a small one-handed mace out so as to prepare for the bigger work I finally decide to start on making my weapon. And for that, I started with the legs.
Picking the matriarch’s rearmost leg, I started throwing it in the forge. However, instead of completely smelting it down in ingots I simply left it long enough for it to soften up enough to be forged.
Since each leg was composed of two parts that bent in the middle, I actually had two shells that were just the right size of the handle I wanted. One was longer and thinner, being the foreleg, while the… Erm… Thigh? Do spiders even have that? Anyway, the part closer to the body was shorter and thicker.
Removing the two pieces of the shell from the forge, I put them on the anvil and started welding the two together while aligning their length. Since one of the shells was longer than the other, this meant that one side was much thicker than the other. Deciding to use that as the place where I’d link to the hammer’s head, I proceeded to prepare the long handle to be a good fit for a hand.
Hammering it around so that the two pieces would be firm against each other, I kept returning it to the fire and then hammering it once again until I was sure it was good and had a good shape on which to grip my hand around.
By the time I was done with the handle, Lily and Crys had come back to the smithy. Lily had began working on something of her own using the ores and what little remained of the younger spiders, while Crys came to me and told me what she had found out about the bone-jelly.
She had me heat up the jelly within the forge and then had me use the lightning combination for the elemental crystals on it’s surface.
If you ignore the fact I burnt my hand because it had come straight out from the forge, had an electric discharge burn my nonexistent golem nerves, followed by a large spike nearly piercing through my hand in a fairly painful-looking manner (I really want to thank Cyg at times like these for the fact that pain is REALLY reduced in here.), it was really good to find out how the spider pulls out the whole spike thing.
On the other hand, having Lily, Crys, Aura, Ozzur and Pebblesworth hear me shouting in pain like a little girl wasn’t as good.
Well, once I had recovered from it, I went on with the idea I had. First I picked up a bunch of the legs and started preparing them for the job.
Different from the swords, where I just needed to make the blade and it was pretty much done, for the hammer I decided to make some structure to hold the pieces before welding everything together. After all, if I follow the monster hunter recipe, I doubt I can make everything in one go with a normal forge like this one.
I took the legs and started to hammer them into semi circles. Joining two of the longer ones into a full circle and welded them together on their bases while leaving the opposite side open. Following that, I took another two of those semi-circles and added them perpendicularly to the axis, roughly midway between the welded center and the circle’s extreme end, and had them in parallel towards the open end.
Finishing the work, I left the circle within the forge to burn it up so that it become a bit more rigid before turning to the mass of bone jelly so that I could prepare the hammer itself.
With that done, I had to use the hammer and a cudgel to break a piece of the bone jelly to use… I really need to check back the actual name of this stuff… Anyway, I removed a piece of the jelly after some hammering and used the remaining heat of the forge to bring it out and hammer it into a more circular shape. Surprised by how dense and heavy the piece was, I decided that it would make a good piece for the head of the hammer.
I fitted it in-between the two pieces of the leg that wasn’t welded together, covering the front half of the space between them. To help the piece stay in place within the frame, I rested the whole thing on the surface of the anvil and, after waiting for Lily to finish whatever she was doing on the forge, I left some shells to smelt on the forge.
Taking my time to use the remaining nerves I had with me, I cut it into thin slices and layered them in front of the jelly, roughly using it to tie the two pieces together.
Why? Because thanks to Crys, I found out that for the spikes to form, you need to both heat up the jelly, then let a small electric discharge run through its surface. That’s the reason why the nerves were there on the shell and why they were so strangely stretchy. It had to be present to activate the spikes, while at the same time being flexible enough to withstand the sudden change in shape of the shell.
Once the shell ingots were done being smelted, I brought them out and poured them over the nerves, hoping that they wouldn’t damage them somehow.
“You should probably have tested that before.” Crys said in a cold tone once she noticed what I had in mind.
“Shush! Crafting waits for no tests!” I replied.
“But didn’t you make your tests with the knifes and arrows previously? And even have me try out how the spikes forms?”
… Ermmm…
“Shush! Crafting bothers not with details!”
“You forgot to cover that part there.” She pointed out.
…
“Crafting is an unforgiving job.” I said in a low anguished tone.
Having finished the job, I let it cool down while thinking on my next step. Once the molten ingot solidified, it had nicely stuck to both the frame and the bone-jelly, firming the two together even more. With this part of the job done, setting up for what I hoped would be a nice spiky hammer-head front, I thought on how to proceed next to the rest of the piece.
Well, it IS a hammer, probably the simplest weapon ever… Right after the staff, probably… So I didn’t think that the rest would be too troublesome to work on, as all I needed to do was to fill in the rest with the material to give it weight and impact…
“I was thinking, isn’t the head needlessly big? And the handle way too short?”
“Cygnasdamnit Zombie Wraps! Don’t go breaking my flow of thought!” I complained loudly to Ozzur who jumped back startled. “And yeah, I know. It’s not supposed to be your run-off-the-mill hammer anyway.” I wave it off while going back to my thoughts.
“Nya-naany nyaa na nyyyy nya-na-na?”
“No. This is too big for you to use furball.” I waved off Lieutenant’s question.
“Naa? Nya nyaaa-ny-nyaaa?”
“Huh? Who said I was making you a new weapon?” I asked confused while turning towards the cat standing on top of the table with a confused glance. “…Actually, why the hell are you here again?”
“How did you understand what he said?” Ozzur asked me confused.
“Look. If you think too much you lose.” I replied in monotone. “Some things you just accept and don’t think too much about it.” I sighed in defeat before shaking my head to psyche myself up. “So, why’s the furball here again?”
“Ah, I called him here, teacher.” Lily suddenly said, getting my attention as she carried some things over to the table. “I’ve thought a bit on what you told me earlier and decided to give it a try.” She said while beckoning Lieutenant to come a bit closer. “I thought that Lieutenant would be the easiest one to work with for my first attempts.”
“…Fair enough.” I nodded. While I do have some plans for lieutenant, I don’t see any problems on letting Lily train using him as a guinea pig.
With that done, I once again changed my focus back to the hammer. What Zombie wraps had said did weight a bit on my mind, though not the way one would probably expect. Since the hammer head would be massive, if I just welded the handle on the outer side as I had initially planned, chances are that it would break down. So instead, I took a different approach, by laying the handle on the opposite side of the spike-head and in the inner part of the head, instead of the outside as I had originally planned.
But before I poured over the material on the handle to weld it together, I decided to start working on how to fill up the rest of the head.
The answer came quickly… Somewhat.
I molded some ingots to fill in the space around the frame of the hammer-head, while leaving a spot on the bottom part open for the handle to pass through, and leaving the top open so that I could pour the fillings.
It looked like a really strange, beige to burned-brown pot of sorts.
That said, it was still just big enough for Crys or Lieutenant to use as a small bathtub. As for why I thought on that image, I have absolutely no idea whatsoever.
To start, I placed the handle on the place I wanted and held the hammer head over the corner so that I could hold it up while pouring a bit of the alloy to seal the opening around the handle. A bit leaked out to the ground before it solidified, but no one got permanently hurt.
Once the handle was firmly attached, I took a good look from afar, but felt that it was somehow off to have a straight handle protruding off from the somewhat circular hammer. Thinking so, I heated up the handle a bit more and gave it a slight ‘S’ curve, making it bend a bit more towards the center of the hammer. This should give me some more space to swing it around, right?
Still, the linking point was a bit odd, so I used a bit more of the alloy to make it fit nicely against the outer-shell of the frame, giving it a more streamlined look instead of simply popping up at a straight angle. I did that by holding it upside down and pouring a bit of alloy around the base of the handle, then using a small metal rod to mold it into a more streamlined shape, that slowly shifted from the thin shape of the handle towards the wide back of the head.
It was a fairly rough work, but I was satisfied with it. Hopefully, it’ll make the hammer a bit more resistant to impact now.
Now, to waste material filling in the hammer head.
I could go on about how this process works… But I literally just spent a heck-ton of shells and raw material to simply fill in the hammer-head, pouring it down as it melted.
The extra bit of work I did, however, was to make some kind of lid to cover the opening I left on the top.
I broke apart some of the shells and layered them atop of each other in an edgy appearance. I didn’t forget to weave some of the nerves around the piece. Reason being, that I had to somehow put the end of the nerves on an easier to reach place, right?
Since I had some free time while I awaited the massive piece to cool down, I wasted it skillfully managing to burn some cool web patterns on the sides of the hammer using a heated rod of iron.
…It didn’t end up as well done as I had hoped. I’m not exactly an artist to be honest. It looked more like some odd lines etched into the side rather than a web.
“You do reckon that you can’t undo that, right?” Crys commented bluntly.
“Yeah… I do.” I commented sadly.
Oh well, can’t win at everything.
After my failed attempt at stylizing the weapon, I took the upper piece I had done and placed it on top of the hammer head.
Just as I had initially planned, the piece fit nicely upon the front, but the farther back it went, the higher it became, until it was roughly one and a half centimeters above the streamlined head. From both above and below this elevation came some nerves that I weaved over the back of the hammer and all the way to the hammer.
Thanks to their springy property, the nerves were quite comfortable to grip around, and with them being so far down the handle also made it easier for me to use the elemental stones. This was the true main reason behind so many nerves being used.
I mean, nerves carry electric impulses, and if the spider was using it by herself, who am I to say it won’t work?
For the finishing touches, I burnt the front of the hammer and the lower end of the handle, giving it a gradient coloration.
“Fu fu fu fu. Tis be done! My master piece! A one in a kind piece that shall never again be recreated!” I laughed loudly while looking at the hammer.
The fact that I had nowhere near enough material to craft another hammer of this kind wasn’t the reason at all why I called it unique, okay?
So you guys can stop looking at me pitifully, you know?
Ignoring their gazes, I took a chance to breathe in the hot air of my latest creation. With the handle being just thick enough for my hand to wrap around making slight bend, it still looked a bit too small compared to the head of the hammer itself.
The head was large, being a bit bigger than my torso and had a roundish shape that started as an oval near the handle, but ended up with a slightly flatter surface near the opposing (hitty) end, where the dark brown coloration of the burnt shell marked the hitting zone. The sides and underbelly of the head were mostly flat, with only the pieces of the frame sticking out like a slightly sore thumb, showing the jaggedy shape of the legs of the spider. The upper side had the jaggedy pieces, giving it a slightly wilder look, but serving no other true purpose other than look and allow the nerves linked to the prototype spike-head to come out through the back of the hammer and wrap around the handle.
It wasn’t exactly the most sophisticated piece of equipment around, but then, hammer’s aren’t really supposed to be complex, right?
Once I decided that it was a job well done, I took a deep breath before checking the status of the creature before me. With so many trials going into a single weapon, I couldn’t help but feel nervous whether it would work or not.

…Welp, looks like my worries were for nothing.
