Chapter 84.5 - Trickster and Tamer

Chapter 84.5 - Trickster and Tamer

Author’s corner: HELLO HELLO! A small release today for LAZYNESS!

ANYWAY, jokes aside, there was also another reason I did this, and it was mostly that this felt like a great time to put in an extra chapter, and so I did. It’s a bit back in time, but hey! It’s still interesting, right?

ALSO, Congratulations to Kruncs and Muffins the Barbarian for having your characters chosen! I hope I did a good job portraying them as you imagined! Thanks Dok for having chosen them!

ALSO(2), I MIGHT laze around next release, so no guarantee on when it will come. Probably in two days, anyway.

Have a good read!

“Come on! Come on! Seems interesting!” The monkey said cheerfully as he dragged the hand of his friend.

Sighing loudly while bearing a slightly bothered smile, the peculiar orc/elf hybrid couldn’t help but be once again pulled in into the pace of his short friend. And by short, he meant it.

The monkey beast-man stood at staggering one meter tall, having a weird coloured blue fur with a single white stripe going down his back. Wearing a simple, yet surprisingly good white robe and carrying a small staff. Appearance wise he was extremely close to the beast rather than man size of his race, in fact, the only difference would be the coloration of his fur and the fact that he was actually using gear.

“I know Mook! No need to keep pulling me!” The hybrid said with an slightly weary tone. Not that he actually expected the monkey to let go, knowing him.

“If I don’t, you get lazy and sit down, so come up already!” The Monkey said while eyeing the friend.

Standing at an actual staggering two meters, being literally twice the size of the small trouble maker, his appearance was slightly odd, to put it on good words. Having a good muscles coming from his orc side, yet a lean build coming from his elven side, his skin was a dark green tone. Strangely enough, his face somehow appeared to be more to the orcish side, having a large nose and wrinkles, giving him an below average look. From the back of his head, a very dark brown hair sprouted, locked in a ponytail, however, everywhere else happily reflected the sunlight, due to the sheer lack of capillary coverage.

The odd Duo met a few days ago, and somehow hit it off despite being so oddly mismatched.

At first glance, one would even think that the duo consisted of a tamer and his rare pet, due to the sheer difference in size and the way they acted, and more than once they ended up asking where he caught the blue monkey. Fact only accentuated when he said that he was a Tamer. But...

“Mook is no pet to be caught, Mook is a traveling buddy whose own mission is to follow around the great divider, Kruncs, and show him the way of Detea!” Is how the little imp in monkey skin would answer.

The meaning behind those words still missed Kruncs by far, and all that he got from the little monkey was that this Detea seemed to be some kind of goddess of madness or something. He never spoke more than that.

Except the fact that he earned a third eye when he asked for it, which seemed mad enough for Kruncs, so he didn’t bother. Luckily enough, his little friend left the third eyes closed for most of the time, and for untrained eyes there wasn’t anything there.

Still, when people saw the third eye opening, he was almost sure that it would be only a matter of time before the shock gasps echoed and some girls started to look weirded out.

But, as before, he had already grown used to it as there wasn’t much he could do.

Still, while following the diminutive hyper-active friend, he couldn’t help but be amazed when he saw the large number of people gathering to try and see what was it that had happened here.

Earlier, the duo had seen a large shadow crossing the skies at an extremely fast speed, taking off towards a small farm near the village where they were questing. However, even from afar the duo could clearly define what kind of creature was it that was flying, as it was an image pretty much ingrained on the memories of every person who ever heard of fantasy.

Dragon.

“That’s actually a wyvern.” He said to the monkey friend. “See how the wings seems to link to the body in place of the forelimbs? Besides the obvious structural difference?”

“Don’t care!” Mook said while still dragging Kruncs. “Dragony enough for me!”

But, as fate had it, the moment that they reached the group of people gathered near the area they saw, the crowd was already too packed for even small monkey to get through.

Not that this would stop the little trickster when there was something interesting happening only a few meters away.

Taking off his staff, he spun it a couple of times while murmuring a couple of words before finally slamming it on the ground.

A purple symbol appeared on the ground, and a brief second later an explosion of light covered the little trickster.

Once it finally died down, in the place of the small and cute blue furred monkey was a large gorilla like demon with the size of a small building and arms as large as tree trunks. Standing at three meters tall and some drool dripping from its ferocious looking mouth, a couple of people noticed his presence and fell down in shock.

Instead of a simple staff, it held in its hand a large uprooted tree, and all his gear looked tattered or broken somehow, only serving to increase his intimidating appearance.

Those who didn’t notice at first, soon did, and as the monkey raised his head up high with an angry face, they quickly scrammed away, scared of what such a monster would do.

Seeing the scene, Kruncs simply approached the monkey and kicked the air between the legs.

The gorilla disappeared into thin air as the small monkey fell face first into the ground.

“Hey, don’t go around scaring people for no reason!” The half elf half orc said with a slightly annoyed tone.

“Tee hee!” The monkey said while knocking on his head.

“That doesn’t work on me!” He said with a wry smile.

The monkey paid him no mind and quickly put himself up, running towards the place where they saw the dragon coming down earlier.

But the little scene the illusionist made back there ended up taking a bit more time than the expected, because once they group finally reached a place where the Wyvern had descended, there was nothing left.

Only a small group of people were left, and they were talking about something in a slightly cheerful way.

Mook became shocked for loosing such a chance of seeing something interesting and fell to the ground in shock, unable to accept the reality before him.

Kruncs, meanwhile, did take notice of the group, thinking that it could be a good idea to remind himself about then. Specially the green eyed golem, as he had the feeling that he had heard about him somewhere.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

It took a couple of quests to finally cheer the oddball up, and this took a couple of quests for him to get around it. A couple of quests and a couple of days.

In the mean time, he saw in the forums talks about the dreaded Green eyes arriving at a place nearby. After such a long time, he suddenly appeared, but his fame was still fairly well known in the forums, so the tamer wondered if his small friend had heard about it, and sincerely hoped not. What if he decided that this Green Eyes was interesting?

However, when the duo made their way back, what they saw, once again, took the interest of the monkey.

A large group of people gathered, and from afar all that they could see was a player mounted on a horse, as he easily stood above the rest of the crowd. But this only served to make the monkey even more curious, as he wondered what could have made a person like that come to this far away village.

Once again, he prepared to make some kind of illusionist trick, but the half elf was quicker this time, and with a quick swing of his bow, he slammed the head of the monkey, stopping him before he could cast.

Looking back at the tall friend, the monkey pouted angrily, but with a quick motion of his hands, Kruncs signaled for the small trickster to climb upon his back. With his height, the duo could easily see from above the large crowd.

“OOH OOH OOH!” The Mook said cheerfully. “I know that guy! He’s the Sir Swordsalittle! He’s strong!”

“Fifth strongest, right?” Kruncs asked.

“Fourth!” He said with a smirk. “But who’s the woman?”

“Isn’t she the one from the time we were searching for the wyvern?”

“OOH OOH OOH! It’s her alright!” He said cheerfully. “And she has a dragon! Look! A dragon!” He stopped and then frowned. “He’s small though.”

As the duo watched the woman and the player exchanging words, the woman asked for some space, as the crowd fell back, the duo soon found themselves on the frontlines, with nothing between them and the woman.

And suddenly, her body started to glow. As they watched the scene in shock, they heard shocked gasps coming from all the other people, as they all seemed affected by the scene.

All, except one single golem, who walked forward and patted the shoulder of Sir Swordsalot, leaving a potion in his hands before he walked towards the woman.

At that moment, the news of Green eyes suddenly came to his mind, and for a moment, he stared in shock as the golem confidently made his way towards the woman.

Creepy green eyes that seems to stare through a person’s soul and a confident way of walking that could only be backed by power (or idiocy). It couldn’t be, right?

As He watched the scene, he felt as the small monkey started jumping excitedly no his back, the light dying out and revealing a massive green scaled wyvern standing in the place where the woman used to be. Widening his eyes in shock, the first thing he did was to direct his gaze at her nameplate.

All it said was her name.

Rathian.

Her health points and Mana points were a bunch of interrogations marks. The same could be said for her skills.  Even the very Aura she exuded left them with a feeling of weakness, making even the overly excited monkey freeze for a moment.

Yet, with absolutely no worries in his voice, he exchanged a couple of words with the wyvern.

“No need to take it easy on him. He’ll revive anyway!”

A declaration of attack.

The dragon gave a light nod, as if responding to his words before turning to the knight, who stared silly at the scene. For a moment nothing happened, but after a deep breath, the knight jumped ahead, swinging his expensive looking sword in a downwards arc.

Yet it simply bounced off the dragons scale.

The wyvern took a step back, and made her counter attack. In a movement that shocked the entire crowd, she took a step forward, leaning her body backwards while strongly flapping her wings. Lifting herself from the ground, she still dragged her tail on the paved floor as her body twisted into a backflip.

The tail hit the knight, lifting him upwards with such a strength that it wouldn’t surprise Kruncs if he were to have died at that exact moment.

“What kind of sick joke is this…” He murmured under his breath as Mook jumped excited on his back.

“OOH OOH OOH! THAT WAS AMAZING!” The monkey shouted while swinging his staff from one side to the other as if dancing.

But the show didn’t end there. In a sadistic finisher, the wyvern finalized her backflip and stabilized in the air with a powerful swing of her wings, before recoiling the head as if taking a deep breath.

Just as the poor soul started to fall down, the wyvern exploded a point blank fireball at the knight, blowing the body away towards god knows where.

While all the crowd watched in shock at the ever flying knight, Kruncs eyes alone were directed towards the golem, his mind clashing between the common sense of leaving a dangerous PK alone, and the desire to learn where he met the wyvern.

As he thought this, he saw as the two exchanged some words before he started clapping his hands. The whole crowd soon was drawn into a clamor that drowned the words he spoke to the wyvern.

It seemed that no one else noticed the strangely serious atmosphere as he exchanged words with the massive wyvern. After both nodded, he turned and started walking.

“HOO HOO HOO! Get him! He’s interesting!” His friend said atop his head. Nodding in accordance, Kruncs quickly crossed the space between him and the golem, the desire of wanting a dragon winning over his common sense with the last push of his friend.

A pet that could one-shot kill the fourth strongest player in the game? Of course he needed to know where to get one himself! What does it matter that the guy was the strongest psycho in the game? For a tamer like him, who even now only had basic pets, that was something that he must learn no matter what!

Seeing as how the crowd parted so that the golem could pass, he felt couldn’t help but wonder what kind of face he was doing to have that reaction.

But as soon as he passed, the crowd gathered again, stopping the elf and the monkey on their tracks. When the monkey somehow managed to spread the crowd with the illusion of a pack of strange monkey-tiger beings, they finally reached the outskirts of the city.

But the golem was long gone, and the only thing Kruncs got was that he was heading towards Eldor.

On that day, for the second time in such a short notice, the legend of Green eyes, The brutal once again flared up, and it was known that his pet dragon alone could kill the strongest players in the game.

One could only wonder. How strong is the real person behind the pets?
