Author’s Corner: HELLO HELLO! Epic fights here!
ANYWAY, there is NO PLOT HERE. NONE, NADA! This is only the fight I promised on the main page. If you don’t care about the fight, you won’t lose anything by skipping this and can go back to the chapter from where it was left off.
Have a good read!

We looked at each other for a moment, just like when we started the battle. Seeing that last time it was him who started our fight, I took it upon myself to be the one to start with the bout. I ran forward through the frozen clearing, and just when I was about to reach him, fell to my feet in a slide.
This seemed to get him by surprise, as he didn’t even react. Before I got up, I quickly landed a slash and a shield slam before rolling from beneath him.

The shield slam’s knock back managed to buy me enough time to get out from beneath him before he decided to get a bit too creative with how to attack me. As I got up I saw him looking annoyed at me, before smiling and shooting a freezing spike. I didn’t even bother with blocking, as it was slightly off target to my right, so I simply ran forward and…

Argh! Shrapnel! My eternal enemies! Just where the hell did you guys come from? As I got up and looked back, I saw what looked like the remains of a stalagmite, and I finally understood why he made this area…
THIS IS A FRICKING MINEFIELD!
I quickly jumped up just in time to see blue getting close to me with his ice claw. I jumped aside to dodge the first, and blocked the second that came for me with the help of nature’s bastion.
Damn, if I weren’t a golem I would be dead thousands times by now.
Before I could even recover from these attacks, blue jumped backwards while shooting a freezing spike towards another one of the stalagmites. Out of sheer despair, I quickly threw myself in the way of the spike with my shield slightly slanted and diverted it. It still hit another stalagmite, but this one was too far to even cause me damage.
I gave blue a mocking smile after understanding what I had done, and he simply snorted and raised his tails. He sent one arc towards a different stalagmite, all at the same time, blowing three of them at the same time. I somehow managed to hide behind my stalagmite just in time

Not completely safe, but not too much damage. Anyway, as soon as I knew it was safe, I ran from behind it towards the big guy, as I knew his next step would be blowing my cover. Literally.
He didn’t see me approaching, as I took the long way around, using the spikes as covers, and he was targeting the place I was before. I took this as a chance to chug down my second potion.

As soon as I heard that nightmarish crystalline sound, I ran towards him. His shock on not seeing me behind the crystal took him precious seconds to escape my wrath. I jumped at him while using stab and got him in his flank, as I got to the ground, I quickly rolled beneath him and used two slashes at his other side, quickly falling back as he turned to me with a freezing spike ready to fire, but not before leaving a hot present to my little friend.

He quickly went for the counter, by using the ice claws on me, I jumped back to dodge the first, but he used his second attack to break the icicles. I managed to block some with the shield, but many still got to me.

God dammit! These things are unblockable!
-10 (1202/2300)
I quickly took my distance from him and started to run around the field while thinking on what I could do to avoid these things. Sadly, nothing came to mind except making him unable to create more fragments.
As I was distractedly running around, I started to hear the repeated sound of ice breaking behind me, giving a quick glance behind, I cursed myself for doing it.
He was using the freezing charge, however, he wasn’t simply charging. He was jumping from spike to spike while breaking them and bringing the fragments with him.
-10 (1192/2300)
Ooh, crap. That’s a whole freaking lot of fragments he is bringing with him… I think I may die if he reaches me…
I sped up even more as I though on a way to dodge these. My answer came from the bandolier in my chest. I quickly took a stun knife from it and turned back right when he was a couple of meters away from me, throwing the knife right in his chest.
The stun took effect right when he was in the middle of a jump, so he ended up slamming with everything on the next pillar, breaking it and taking lots of fragments into his body.

That looks mighty painful… But… Didn’t he take a lot more of fragments to his body than those numbers show? Did he resist the damage?
I actually had to hold myself back so I wouldn’t see if he was alright or not, but he quickly got up again and shook himself to free the fragments from his body. He looks fine enough for me… I think…
When I noticed him looking back at me I quickly recovered myself and prepared. I saw him raising his three tails in the air with the mist gathering around it. Instead of waiting to see where he would shoot them, I ran forward.
This is actually a logical decision, as he was right atop a broken stalagmite, so all the others were at a certain distance from him, and knowing he would aim at my area in general, I had an idea of which crystals he would try to blow.
Of course, this was just a theory that I had no way to prove that didn’t involve betting my health.
Luckily, thank Cygnas, I was right, as his arcs went to three of the crystals behind me. His surprised face was everything I could have hoped for. I got to his neck where I landed a stab. He quickly took a step back and tried to shoot a point blank icicle, but I used shield-slam in his muzzle to try and stop it. I was a brief
moment too late, as the icicle did form, but when it met my shield it exploded in various fragments, damaging him.
The slam also made him lift his head with the knockback, making him show-me his neck where I landed a good three seconds of the old slice ‘n dice before rolling away.

More fragments came into my direction than his. So yeah…
When I took my distance from him, I went towards the path he had come from. The same one that had no more stalagmites left. I looked at him with a proud mocking smile.
AAAAND… he raised an eyebrow. Do foxes even have eyebrows? What about two meters, three tailed magic wielding foxes? Do they?
‘What? You thought I didn’t see that coming?’ I think that’s what he wanted to say…
He raised his head in a howl, initiating soul storm. Since it was the normal one, I didn’t even bother with moving, as I was far outside from its range.
But that’s what he wanted me to think. It took me a moment to notice that the ground beneath the broken stalagmite I was on was glowing. Literally, at the last second I managed to jump and use my shield to block the raising spike.
-3 (330/480)
But I was till sent flying. High. Even higher than the last two times. I even had the time to enjoy a nice view of the area and seeing ever single broken spike come back to life.
Hmm… This looks dangerous… But flying doesn’t kill you. No, no. It’s falling that kills you. Even more if you aRE FALLING TOWARDS A FREAKING FIVE METERS HIGH SPIKE! OOOH CRAAAAP!
I hastily sent my hand towards the bandolier looking for a explosive knife, but I was out of them in the bandolier, so I hastily opened my inventory and took it from there, immediately throwing it at the crystal, exploding it.
Well, I did break the spike, but I didn’t really break the fall…
-43 (287/480)
I quickly got myself up just in time to dodge a flying freezing spike. But as soon as I recovered from the roll, I tripped over something and once again kissed the ground.
Oh ground, you silly, I might fall for you if you keep it like that…
…
..
.
OH MY GOD! THAT WAS HORRIBLE! FORGIVE ME!
PLEASE, FORGET THAT! OK? FORGET IT!
Anyway, bad jokes aside, I quickly got up and looked at what made me trip, and was left surprised, to say the least.
It were the freezing arcs he had thrown back at the start! They were still stuck on the ground! Or were… Until I tripped… You know…
Anyway, they are around one meter wide and have this curved line shape… But more importantly. It looks pretty damned sharp.
I quickly got the three of them from the ground and carried them with me while hiding behind the pillars, taking my time to replenish my used items.
Blue started once again with his break every icicle in front of him, but since he had lost track of me I could sneak behind him. As long as I could hold the maniacal laughter I get whenever I think something interesting.
“MUAHAHAHAHA”
Which I didn’t…
And got busted.
Luckily, before he could turn to find me, I took one of the arcs and threw it like a boomerang at an angle. He probably thought that I missed, since I threw it so much to the side, but when it (much to my surprise, mind you) actually started to make a curve, he didn’t have time to dodge as it pierced his side.

Luckily the thrown weapons mastery also affects the improvised boomerang, or else I would have messed up badly. He turned to me and barked angrily, but I took this chance to throw the next one. He dodged it this time by jumping forward. Which I also did, quickly closing the distance between us while throwing the last one straight forward.
He blew it away with a freezing spike, but got surprised when a fire knife came out right from behind it and hit him in the head, igniting immediately after.

-14 (865/2300)
I kept running towards him to take advantage of the opening left by the fire, but he foresaw this, as he used the ice claw in the ground, making a small barrier in front of me. I cliqued my tongue as I jumped left to avoid the icicles.
He quickly jumped away after seeing me dodge his attacks and threw an icicle towards a nearby stalagmite.

-34 (253/480)
After somehow blocking all the stalagmites, I saw him jumping towards a nearby crystal while starting his freezing charge. He shattered it while jumping straight towards me, not trying to prolong it too much and end up like last time.
Not that I could repeat that since I’m out of stun knifes, but he doesn’t need to know that, right?
Still, I raised my shield and blocked his charge while countering with slam + Bastion. The impact messed up with his landing, and he fell atop of me without getting a good foothold, so he rolled once and fell on his back. I barely managed to grab onto his fur and stick close to him, so when he fell down I was on top of him.
I took the most out of the situation as I started with a stab and spamming my longest slice ‘n dice. I took the time while the attack was going to chug down another potion with my shield hand.

HOLY MOTHER OF COMBO! THAT WAS B-E-A-UTIFUL!
Remember kids, getting distracted makes you get caught by tails. Again.
He threw me away without any ceremony directly towards a crystal, where I slammed my back before sliding down.
-22 (318/480)
I quickly got up, being actually faster than him. As he had to twist his body to get up, so I had more than enough time to get away from him while throwing another fire knife.

-13 (606/2300)
As I hid myself behind one of the pillars to regain my breath, kept hearing the sounds of crystals being broken everywhere. Actually, it was coming from the sides… And was actually getting closer…
Now it was the one besides where I am…
TO THE GROUND YOU FOOL!
I threw myself to the ground just in time to see the crystal exploding above me. Luckily not many fragments came to my direction.

Since he didn’t see me, as what little remained of the stalagmite was covering me, he kept his long range bombardment. I stayed perfectly still for a couple of seconds in the freezing ground until I was sure that the bombardment was on the opposite side, when I got up and saw his back.
Come one, silent steps. You scared so many people up to now, don’t come failing me just when I am about to deal a surprise attack, ok?
*clatter*
Did I tell you that I hate fragments?
-10 (586/2300)
Blue didn’t even turn to me and simply charged his tails while bringing them down, launching the arcs towards me.
Luckily, with the three in the vertical and still a fair distance between us, I managed to pass between two of them on my way to the fox.
But he immediately howled as soon as I got to a certain distance, so I stopped my charge and hopped back to open some distance between us.
Patiently waiting as the storm around him died down and the crystals reformed, I soon charged in again. He turned towards me readying his frost claws.
Does he ever learns?
I raised my shield and activated nature bastion for the attack that was coming.
But never did.
He landed it a bit earlier, planting the icicles in the ground before readying his second claw to break them.
So he DID learn.
BUT I’M LEARNERED BETTER!
Quickly, I used shield slam on the ice to break then, towards him, but I still took the claw on the shield, without nature’s bastion.

-116 (406/2300)
Out of energy, I opened some distance between us. But I shouldn’t go too far away in fear of the bombardment, so I kept running circles around him.
Eventually, he got me with a faked freezing spike that suddenly became a charge.
Aww… My little boy learned how to feint!
I rolled away at the last moment not really worried about the fragments since he didn’t break anything previously. Except that he extended his tails and hit me just as I was recovering.
-42 (249/480)
I quickly recovered while chugging down another potion.
+72 (321/480)
Dammit. So close to finishing this.
I noticed him raising his tails while turning to me and charging. Just as he was about to reach me, he jumped, and I quickly got out of the way, being a second too late to notice that there was a stalagmite behind me, in which he landed before making his arc-somersault.
A last second roll barely saved me from my demise. At least he left me some brand new weapons!
I quickly gathered the arcs from the ground before he would hit me then rolled away just as an icicle blew the ground. As soon as I got up I immediately threw the first arc, managing to land it right in his neck.
-20 (386/2300)
He complained with a yelp before jumping towards me, activating both ice-claws at the same time.
I barely dodged it by rolling forward and passing beneath him and running away still carrying the arcs with me.
After some running away, I finally managed to lose him, so he started his ‘blow everything up’ strategy while I climbed at an crystal using my sword.
Using the sword as a foot hold, I managed to spot him from afar using my height advantage and immediately threw the two arcs, each on one direction, and as they made the curve, each one hit him from a different side.
-19 -18
-37 (349/2300)
I quickly kicked my sword, dropping it from the ice and slid down back to the ground before he could find me.
Which I don’t think that worked very well, since two seconds after that icicle was blasted to smithereens.
I ran towards him while dodging the pillars, but as soon as I managed to see him, he also saw me. But while I was running to get to him, he was patiently waiting with his tails raised gathering mist.
I made a dive for my life worthy of a Hollywood movie as the pillars behind me blew up. But smartly, for a change, I rolled as soon as I was about to hit the ground, and earned a few extra meters that significantly reduced my damage taken.
-3 -3 -4 -5
-15 (306/480)
This also left me right in front of him, even if it meant that he was charging up a freezing spike. Quickly raising my shield, I managed to land a shield slam on him before he could let it go. He tried to attack me with the freezing claws, but I managed to block the first one while rolling beneath the second, earning the skills buff that I used in a stab followed by two slashes.
-62 (critical) -38 -25 -22
Combo! (x1.2)
176 (173/2300)
I quickly got away from him with a few hops right as when his tails tried to lash at me.
We stared at each other for a moment as we slowly started to move in a large circle. Finally he jumped towards a crystal and activated freezing charge, breaking it and running to my direction.
I gulped in worry and barely managed to roll away from the charge while still taking a few fragments to my legs.
-3 -4 -6 -4 -5 -4
-26 (280/480)
As I got up, I saw him raising his head in a loud howl. I somehow managed to throw the dagger at him before the storm started, and my last flame dagger ignited.
-3 -10 -10
-23 (150/2300)
The dagger managed to tick twice before the storm died down. And just as it finished, blue immediately turned to me and charged. I dodged with a simple roll, and when I turned back to him, I saw him coming down with his ice claws, so I barely managed to roll beneath the first one. However, I had no way to dodge the second, so I raised my shield and used the Slam + Bastion combo on him, the attack being boosted by both the opening and the counter
-110 (40/2300)
The impact made him take a few steps back, and for one last time, we stared at each other.
