Chapter 166- Chronus, The God Of Time

Thanatos froze, his voice trembling. “Chronus, I’s recognize that aura of yours anywhere”.

“Correct”! He declared cheerfully. “I’m the other soul hosting this body. Chronus, the God of Time, now now”. Chronus stared down at Thanatos with bright blue eyes like a snake staring into its victim, any hint of playfulness immediately disappeared followed by a complete coldness.

“I need you for something”.

“Why should I listen to you, why should I even be a slave to anyone”!?

Chronus’s head immediately snapped back as his tone became harsh like thorns, it pierced into Thanatos.

“Did you just”. He grabbed his own face. “I can’t believe you just disobeyed me, someone like you”!

“Chronus, what are you going to do about it?! You don’t even have your weapon and look what I have”!! He pulled out the blandest dagger known to man, a wooden handle with a dull knife attached to it.

Shinji dashed forwards, but he was immediately stopped by Chronus’s arm.

“Don’t interfere, I need him”.

This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.

The air around him began to distort as Chronus’s power manifested. The very fabric of reality seemed to twist and shudder, the room warping into a surreal, timeless void.

Time and space were entertwined, even messing with one part will mess with the other.

Thanatos snarled, summoning his black tendrils to lash out at Chronus. “I HAVE MY FULL POWER, THE POWER OVER DEATH”.

Chronus didn’t flinch. With a casual wave of his hand, time itself unraveled around the tendrils, freezing them mid-air before they dissolved into nothingness.

“Come on, you can’t beat me, no matter how hard you try, Death may the end of everything but, what is death compared to time”.

Before Thanatos could react, Chronus’ figure blurred. In a single step, his thumb was already at the God of Death’s throat.

“What wrong?? What happened to the God if Death thing you were yapping on about?? Chronus sneered, effortlessly lifting him off the ground. Chronus instantly became more serious“I thought you were invincible”.

Thanatos was in peril, waving his arms around like a toddler, his black tendrils snapping toward Chronus like whips, but they disintegrated the moment they even approached Chronus.

“You dare”!! Thanatos was dripping golden ichor from his mouth as he spat into Chronus’s eyes yet they stopped midair as if they were frozen in time. “I AM THE GOD OF DEATH”!!

Chronus tilted his head. “God of Death? IS that supposed to impress me or something”? He began to chuckle as he smiled maliciously.

“I’ve already told you, I don’t care”.

Thanatos clawed at Chronus’s hand, his nails scraping against the unyielding force of his grip. “You… you can’t destroy me… I’ll always come back!”

Chronus laughed, the sound cold and merciless. “Destroy you? Oh, Thanatos, you misunderstand.” He leaned closer, his glowing blue eyes boring into Thanatos’s soul. “I don’t need to destroy you. I can unmake you.”

As he snapped his fingers, the God of Death started to rewind in time, back to before he was even born.

Even Death itself has a beginning.

The ability over time represents the ability to make the beginning, present and end happen at once, the ability of omnipresence.

“Like mother like son, I’m gonna do to you what I did to her”.
