Chapter 160- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

“Ah-ah, Let’s get this over with, angel. You seem to be only affected by things that aren’t alive, what is your power”?

A planet flew out of orbit as it directly crashed into the two of them, Thanatos was instantly splattered into a puddle of blood, the Angel landed on his feet, it stood up on the planet as it looked up into the black sky.

Thanatos came back down with a boom, the area around him began to rumble as the area around him turned to dust.

“Come out”.

Souls were dragged up from the underworld and were reincarnated into thousands of braindead zombies as they waddled towards the angel surrounding him completely.

“Explode”.

Methane began filling their bodies, pressure began to build up as a green smoke exuded out of their mouths, their bodies morphed as they ballooned and they exploded like a bomb.

The angel walked right through the smoke.

Thanatos, the God of Death, born to Demon Lord Erebus and €¥x, unlike violent or chaotic deaths caused by Ares, he represented the peaceful, natural deaths that come with life, carrying souls down to the underworld.

Other Gods thrived in adoration and worship while he walked through Gaia’s surface alone searching for lost souls. Yet he found solace in guiding people to the afterlife, a reminder that Death was not the end but a transition.

When Erebus was stricken with grief, he took it out on Thanatos, his own son, he couldn’t do anything but take his father’s punishment, Thanatos was broken, no one would ever care for him, he ended up as a servant that had to do everything for his father, he was meek and quiet even back then, eventually he ended up as a slave that would even follow a human that was weaker than him.

“Restrain it”.

Souls pulled the angel down like chains, clawing at its skin.

The angel let out a guttural snarl, its once imposing presence now resembling that of a feral beast. It clawed at the souls circling it, its massive hands swiping wildly The red glow in its eyes, replaced by a vacant, animalistic stare. Its chest heaved, the sound of ragged breaths filled the void.

Thanatos stood motionless, his dim blue eyes staring blankly at the angel. His hunched frame trembled slightly, the weight of his chains dragging him lower, as though gravity itself sought to crush him. He whispered to himself, his voice so soft it was almost lost in the chaos.

“I want to finish this quickly… or he might hit me again”.

The angel lunged at him, its movements uncoordinated and frenzied, more beast than celestial being. Thanatos barely flinched as he raised a trembling hand, the chains dragging behind him like anchors. With a flick of his wrist, the souls surrounding them swarmed in unison, wrapping around the angel’s limbs.

The beastly figure thrashed, slamming its fists into the rocky ground beneath them, destroying a huge part of the planet’s surface, creating tremors that spread throughout the galaxy. Thanatos immediately took a step back

His tired eyes glimmered faintly with worry. “Why do you make me?”

The angel’s growls turned into an eerie whimper as the souls coiled tighter around it’s limbs. Its once powerful form began to quiver, its immense strength fading under the suffocating despair. It clawed at the ground like a wounded animal, its head snapping back and forth as it searched for a way out.

Thanatos knelt down, resting his chained hands on the ground. His pale fingers trembled as he gazed at the creature, his voice quivering.

“You don’t even know what you’re fighting for, do you?” he murmured, his tone more pained than mocking. “You’re just… following orders just like me.”

The angel let out a low, guttural whine, its massive frame slumping as it lay flat against the ground. Its glowing eyes dimmed, and its snarls softened into labored breaths. The beast that had once stood tall and defiant now looked pitiful, defeated not by force, but by the crushing weight of Thanatos’s quiet despair.

The angel began to hum

“Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”.
