Hello again. Today was lots of fun.
When I woke up I was alone. I shot to my feet in a panic, half convinced already that Julius had left me. Fortunately he was just behind me. Burning a small but colorful slither and nibbling on a bush.
Once he saw I was awake he hopped over and flicked his ears at me. Much cuddling ensued.
He is just so cute!
I fed him some more glow fruit and we went on our way. Me walking through the thigh high grass, Julius flopped lazily across my left shoulder.
As we traveled we must have entered yet another beasts territory as the grunters had vanished. Shame that, they really were very tasty. Instead we found the grass was nibbled down to ankle length and swarms of fist sized longlegged hoppers bounced about everywhere.
This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.
One of them flung itself right at my face. I whistled up a blast of fire and blew it away. Seeing this Julius gave an odd staccato series of squeaks and then he let out a sharp whistle himself sending another streamer of fire at a different hopper and burning it from the sky.
That is literally how we spent the rest of the day. Walking and whistling and burning our way through the hopper infested short grass. I have never known such fun.
After a while we started to compete over most hoppers caught in a single whistle. I won with 32 to Julius' 28. Then over who could make the most interesting shape with their flames. I made forests and streams, Julius made packs of grunters and even a fire rainfall. He won that round.
We competed over speed of fire, rate of fire, heat of fire and even sound of fire. I had faster flames, but Julius could put out more per heartbeat. My flames burned hotter and longer than his, but his whistled flames could drown out my own.
I think mine sounded nicer though. His were just loud.
Eventually the only lights were the stars above and the corpses below so we settled down for the night.
Munching on some leftover grunter and blowing the ocasional friendly flame blast at each other.
My face hurts from all the smiling I did today.
Goodnight.
