Lost to the waves

Hello. I lost Julius.

Today looked so promising at the start. Bright blue skies, gentle swells, the occasional sea monster attack to keep things interesting. Then everything got really dark. Massive clouds came roaring out of the distant blue. Massive cresting waves tosed the Ivers Dream about like a new toy ball in the hands of capracious children.

All I could do was tie Julius and myself to the boat and hope that she would see us through this. A hope soon betrayed.

The Ivers Dream had been made from the remnants of ancient ships. Those time worn boards finally gave up the ghost and soon all the world was water.

I don't know how long the storm raged. Days may have passed, or mere hours. What I do know is that when the skies and sea calmed I was all alone again.

I took flight, dragging the scrap of ship I was tied to along as an anti-drowning measure. I scoured the seas. Looking through every piece of wreckage I could find for traces of my little friend.

My hands were scraped raw and bloody from the jagged wood. My eyes burned from unshed tears and saltwater. My voice grew hoarse and then silent from my desperate shouts.

I cannot find him. He is lost.

Julius. You are... were the best thing that ever happened to me. May you open your eyes to new worlds, and may their wonders please you.

Goodbye my brother. I hope we meet again.

Goodnight. I do not think I will be able to sleep.
