Ugh, hello again. Today was both stupidly long and annoyingly short.
Long because I hardly got any sleep last night.
Shortly after I shut my eyes and started drifting to sleep the screaming started.
And short because since I was so tired I am already caling it a day. It is hardly past noon.
I think.
Anyway, screaming, right. Lets get this written while it is still fresh in my memory.
The sky was covered by dense black clouds, plunging the surroundings from grim and dim to blindingly black. I could hear sounds, slitherings and screamings, from all directions. And it seemed like they were getting closer.
Tired and disoriented, but also supremely pissed I did what anyone would do.
I screamed at it.
"SHUT UP! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT TIME IT IS?! GO AWAY!!!" Sadly, my demands where ignored, and if anything the screams actually increased in volume. Call me crazy, but I swear there was a mocking lilt to them now.
Now completely awake and incensed I jumped as high into the air as I could, which with some Will and Emotion behind it was pretty damn far. I was carried over the treetops by my leap. Maybe. Like I said, it was dark and I couldn't see shit.
Well, I had a plan to change that.
At the apex of my leap, I called all tingles into action. Fire covered my flying frame and trailed behind me in a haze of heat and smoke. I bent my back, cranked both arms behind my head, and upon making contact with what I suppose could have been the ground I whipped both my blazing fists into the earth as hard as I possibly could.
Fire EXPLODED in all directions, hungry and angry red waves of devouring wrath consuming everything they came in contact with. The land had cracked and cratered under my blow, making it an annoying chore to drag my body out of the pit I had just created.
So I flew out instead. Why work hard unless you need to, right?
In the newly brightly lit forest I could finally see the culprits behind my rude awakening. Dozens of burning bodies rampaged blindly between the smouldering trunks of the black jungle. Strange misshapen forms without any sign of humanity, or elvanity, or dwarfanity, or anything. Seeming to be just randomly selected collections of limbs held together by black ooze. Any satisfaction I felt at watching them burn was dimmed as I saw the flames on the black trees dimming and dying far quicker that believable.
For whatever reason, seeing trees refuse to burn set me off again. I walked up to the biggest one that was dimming the quickest. Then I shoved my hand into its trunk. Splitting the bark and digging deep into its flesh. The insides of the tree felt, wrong. Soft, squishy, and pulsating. Like I had just placed my hands directly onto someones beating heart.
Not bothering to consider the implications, I ignited, moving as much heat as quickly into my hand and from there into the tree.
It exploded, yay, but not from me, boo.
No, the thing inside the fake tree had shuddered and split the trunk into splinters trying to dance away from my fire.

Slick, slimy tentacles, wound around one another to form a single larger tentacle waving lazily at the air. Seeming to protest its exposure. Cruel tearing spines jutted seemingly at random from it each one tipped with a sickening ichor, and occasional red gaps filled with fangs gaped along the iridescent black slime that coated each tentacle.
Gross.
So I burned them. I burnt them to ash and then kept going, jumping down into the hole they had emerged from and incinerating more and more and more of them.
For hours I walked the tunnels these gross things had dug through the land beneath the island. Just burning away a path before me. Ash trailing behind me, filling the air and making it hard to breath. My tinglewood vest became a scarf, blocking out most of the ash and letting me breath easily once again.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, I reached the source. A massive underground chamber, I seem to find lots of these, roughly in the shape of an egg. Lying in this cave, taking most of the space inside, was it.
No idea what it was. It was a disturbing shifting sac of pulsing flesh, exposed organs, far too many eyes, and mouths. The Tentacles I had followed here were but the hair off of its back. More ran throughout the cave and exited through tunnels like the one I had emerged from.
It was massive. I could have fallen and drowned inside its smallest eye. Its multitude of bizarre twisted limbs dwarfed me laughably, and its whole bulk could have shadowed some smaller mountains I had seen before.
Experimentaly I launched a fireball at one of its eyes.
With a dull *paff* and plume of smoke it vanished into the milky orb, and suddenly every single eye on the beast was pointed at me.
I waved.
It ripped my arm off with one of its tentacles that moved at blinding speeds. A sharp crack of it splitting the air echoed by the one from my snapping tendons. The shock and force of the blow knocked from my ledge, and directly onto the monstrosity.
Immediately my skin started to smoke and melt, as whatever the sickly green organ I had landed on was secreted powerful acids. From my stump a spark flew, igniting and branching in the air to become a new limb, identical to the previous, even down to the scars.
That handled, I punched down into the grossness. Flames gushed into the sac beneath me, it expanded rapidly before bursting, choking acidic white smoke covered me, eating away at any exposed skin. Temporarily blinded by this and in great pain I rose to previously unknown levels of pissed.
I became fire. All blows simply slipped through me. The limbs behind them cooking as they passed through my limbs or torso. You ever have a spike shoved through your head before? Let me tell you, it feels like when you really have to sneeze, but just can't. Not very pleasant. But better than death I suppose.
I rampaged, burning, punching, kicking, biting, consuming the scourge beneath me.
I lost track of time, all my focus on destroying the thing directly before me. On destroying the enemy. The feeling seemed mutual. Acids, poisons, plagues, infestations, parasites, fangs, claws, and sounds that dragged vile claws across my fragile psyche were thrown at me.
I began getting hurt, strange eldritch colors and shapes coated its claws and fangs, its unworldy chanting driving nails into my mind, breaking my concentration and allowing its blows to land on my human flesh. Tearing into me, and leaving terrible wounds.
I redoubled my efforts. Fire filled the cave, a dancing sea of my rage and pain. All directed at the source of it all. Untapped pains, my worries about my companions, the fear of my unknown past, my despair at my own weakness, my inability to protect those I cared about. These rose inside me, and fed the flames.
I danced among the fire, laughing and crying in a pain and ecstacy previously unknown to me. As I tore my foe to shreds and burnt those shreds to ash.
I think I might have more problems than I thought. Cause I don't think that is normal. Well, not like being normal is a good thing though, right?
Right?
Then, finally, it was over. I stood, alone, on a field of ash. The cavern half filled with the soft fluffy substance that had once been one of the most terrible things I have ever seen.
I had lost multiple arms and legs throughout the fight. Been eviscerated, disemboweled, and damn near decapitated. Torn to pieces or eaten whole. But I had outlasted it. And now it was just the dust beneath my feet.
Unwilling to spend anymore time with its remains I gathered what little of myself I had left and slowly flew back to the surface. The black jungle was gone. The shattered remnants of trunks strewn across the island all that remained.
Almost lazily, I set them on fire, lay back against the obelisk and began writing todays events.
So yeah, that happened.
Now I need to have a little nap. Excuse me.
Goodnight.
