Lazy days

Hello again! It was such a lovely day today!

Big fluffy happy clouds, bright blue skies above, and vivid green waves below. A stiff but warm breeze that was both comforting and bracing, and the indescribable comfort of being on a journey with those you care about.

Ah, it brings a tear to my eye, having the Ivers Dream back on the move again. I missed my tinglewood so much. Fighting is so much more interesting when you can summon a horde of flaming goats. Travel is easier too. I don’t have to mess about with sails and ropes and stuff, though with Fen I suppose we wouldn’t really need to anyway.

Still though, I quite like our current mode of transport. We are lazing about on the top of a big red wooden dogs head while it tirelessly paddles through the ocean. He’s a good boy, and it confuses the snot out of any pirates or merchants who might see us, which is just a bonus.

Lena is making flowers out of ice. She supercools air at the tip of a stalk of ice, and the air seems to shiver for a moment before ice begins blooming outwards from the stalks tip. The first few were pretty much just amorphous ice blobs, but she’s getting pretty good at making things that look like actual flowers. The way the light is reflected off of them is beautiful. Her latest creation actually is formed in such a way that the light is reflected inwards, giving them an unearthly glow to the clear icy blue.

Julius is sat in a little cauldron filled with molten gold. His head and ears are the only thing sticking out of the slightly bubbling stuff, and he seems very content. His eyes are closed blissfully, his ears are flopped lazily, and his nose is twitching calmly. Just looking at him makes me want to take a nap myself.

You might be reading a stolen copy. Visit Royal Road for the authentic version.

Fen is practicing tying knots. Yeah, he probably isn’t up to any good, and I think I just saw him make a pretty much perfect noose, but we all need hobbies. So I guess I won’t say anything. I sure hope I don’t regret that…

Onica spent the whole day exercising and training. I made the inside of the Ivers Dream into an obstacle course, complete with moving targets, arrow traps, and spinning death wheels. She sprints through it, dodging arrows, nailing targets with knives, axes, spears, and whatever else she has on hand. I saw her hurl a sword a good twenty feet to nail a target shaped like a person. The target fell, and triggered an arrow trap, becoming so peppered with arrows that it looked like a pincushion. Onica is a bit scary when she gets that focused on something, but she seems to be having fun. Well, she’s smiling anyway. Smiling means she’s having fun, right?

As for myself, I sent the whole day cooking. Food, once put into the satchel doesn’t seem to go bad, so I figured I’d make a bunch of meals today, and store them for later consumption. Cause some days you just don’t want to cook, y’know?

Sadly, I underestimated the gluttony of my friends. I thought I was making a weeks worth of meals, but by the end of the day it had already been eaten. Lena would skip by every few minutes and steal away a piece here or there, Julius had Fen ferry some food to him. Onica would take periodic breaks in her training and come to devour whatever she wanted before diving back into training. Fen, he just zapped about half the food I made into ash…

I still don’t know if he even tastes stuff when he does that. He says he does, but if that’s the case then he has really bad taste. I specifically made some chicken super duper crazy pucker-your-face-into-a-bumhole sour, and he claimed to love it.

I guess I should throw logic out the window where the sentient talking hat that shoots lightning is concerned. But damn it! It bothers me! Watching so much of my hard work and lovingly crafted meals get turned to ash and be blown away by the breeze, it bothers me, ok?

Still, all in all today has been very good, and I hope to have many more just like it.

Goodnight.
