From the darkness...

Hello again.

After waking up in the dark and stretching out the kinks in my back and neck gained from sleeping on hard stone steps I once more set off downwards.

I have no measure of time in this place. Soon I get hungry, and realize a terrible fact. I had no food! Scrambling back upstairs to secure breakfast. I didnt get far before running straight into a wall.

Tumbling backwards from the impact I rolled down the stairs. Curling up to protect my head I pick up speed, and really start hurtling downwards. The impacts jolt and stun me. I send a flood of tingles throughout my body encasing me in flames. I imagine it must have been quite a sight, me, tumbling down a staircase in a dark abyss, coated in flames and leaving a quickly fading trail behind me. Finally, with one final slam and skid my momentum ceased. Leaving me dazed, dizzy, and smoking at the end of the stairs.

I may be bruised and battered, but I am surprisingly whole and unbroken. And I reached the bottom. Which is nice.

Sending tingles out to the areas along my back, arms, and legs that had been hurt the most I slowly pick my self up. And promptly vomit. I liked those berries better before I remade their aquaintance.

Looking around I find myself still in the dark. Nothing to see here folks. Stumbling around blindly I find two pieces of new information. There is a seemingly straight hallway leading away into still more darkness, and the stairs are gone. Lovely.

Hunger is sapping all the adventure out of me. Never, ever, go adventuring on an empty stomach. Its just a good way to have a bad time. So now I must decide how I will proceed.

Slow and steady in the hopes I will find food before I grow too weak to continue, or fast and risky, in the hope that there is an exit not far away. Or at least something edible.

Of course, I chose fast and risky. I dash down the hallway my head tucked down and feet pounding against the stone floor. Pumping tingles into my legs and lungs to maintain my blistering pace.

My breathe becomes labored and wheezing, and my legs leaden and rubbery at the same time. I had almost reached my limit when I see it. Light, far ahead but it's there. New life is breathed into my limbs and a staccato beat follows my feet into the glorious light and out of the loathsome clinging dark.

A great tree stands vigil in a wide open amphitheatre, a wonderous sight I'm sure but my eyes are arrested by what is held upon that trees boughs. Massive glowing red fruit, the size of my head or bigger. I leapt into the branches and gorge myself on the sweet and spicy golden flesh that is my salvation from starvation.

I ate three in their entirety and most of a fourth before I was sated. And it was in a blissful sated food coma that I came to gaze upon the beauty around me. As I lie back against the trunk of the oddly warm and comfy tree trunk I see vast murals playing across the walls as far as I can see. Depictions of great creatures and fierce battles all with the same foci, a great blazing sun.

As I write these last words I can feel myself drifting off in a food blissed sleep. I shall explore more fully upon awakening.

Goodnight.
