Chapter 5: The Lost Wizard

Furano closed the entrance door behind her, which then locked itself again. Alton’s expression changed to astonishment.

“What do you mean by lost? I’m being chased here.”

Furano’s expression changed to astonishment.

“Then, why don’t you just come back to second Earth?”

Alton was surprised.

“Okay, I admit I’m being lost here, but that doesn’t mean Im helpless.”

Alton realized that Furano had a handgun holstered on the baldric at her waist, making Alton startled, and he got ready to attack with magic using his bladeless sheathed dagger.

“Damn, could it be that you are also an enemy?”

Furano crossed her arms; her expression changed to astonishment.

“Don’t tell me you want to fight me using magic?”

Alton was surprised.

“Don’t come any closer; even though I was a high schooler, I was a great magic user.”

Furano smiled.

“Are you sure you can defeat all of them who are chasing you and don’t need my help?”

Alton’s expression turned doubtful.

“No. Besides, why are you helping me?”

Furano’s expression turned slightly doubtful.

“That’s a difficult question for me to explain….”

Alton was surprised.

“As I thought, you can’t even explain it!”

Furano sighed.

“Okay, it’s up to you if you want to stay here and be caught by those wizards from first Earth.”

Furano turned around and was about to leave from here. Alton was surprised.

“Wait!”

Furano stopped in her tracks and turned around again. Alton crossed his arms and looked awkward.

“I’ll go with you; I guess there’s not much I can do anyway….”

Furano smirked.

“Alright then.”

Furano looked around her, then walked to one of the walls. Furano released the flying broomstick in her left hand, which then floated in a standing position not far behind her. Furano drew her handgun from the holster in her waist, then aimed it at the wall before her.

“Secret Door.”

The gray patterns on Furano’s handgun became glowing red; she then fired her handgun, a red light then shot quickly against the wall. Immediately after that, a single door shape was swiftly carved on the wall; this carving then turned into a classic-style wooden single door with a metal handle. Furano opened this door, which turned out to be connected to the office room behind the wall. Furano then opened her cloak.

“Get into this cloak; you won’t be tracked by their trackers.”

Alton’s expression changed in astonishment; he then nodded.

Alton released the flying broomstick in his left hand, which then floated in a standing position not far behind him. Alton walked over to Furano and then stepped into the cloak that Furano was wearing, making Alton look awkward. Furano embraced Alton in her right hand; they, together inside the cloak, walked past the door, their broomstick floating after them. The door then closed again by itself.

After the door was closed, it quickly merged back into the wall until there was nothing left at all. Not long after, Daganzo walked into the building through the office building entrance, arrived in the guest hall, and then looked around him in surprise. Daganzo looked at the pocket watch on his right hand and found that the magic circle on this pocket watch was spinning.

Back to Alton and Furano, they found themselves in the dim atmosphere of a modern classic style office room because it is only lit by wall lamps in some parts, with several desks, ergonomic chairs, bookshelves, long tables, sofas, computers, TV mounted on the wall, etc. Furano observed the surroundings for a moment. Not long after, a middle-aged man security guard walked into the room and was surprised to find Alton and Furano, who were also surprised to see him.

“Who are you two!”

Furano smiled awkwardly.

“We are employees of this office that are working overtime, hahaha.”

The security guard was surprised.

“Oh, alright then. Sorry to interrupt.”

The security guard walked away, but after only a few steps, he immediately turned back toward Furano and Alton.

“Wait a minute! You think I’ll fall for that!”

Furano sighed, then drew her handgun from its holster. Seeing Furano, the security guard was shocked and immediately raised both hands.

“Wait a minute, miss. We can talk about this.”

Furano’s expression changed in astonishment.

“Faint.”

The patterns on Furano’s handgun glowed; she then aimed her handgun at the security guard. Furano fired her handgun, and the red light shot toward the security guard and hit him. The security guard was shocked momentarily and then fell unconscious. Furano and Alton walked over to the security guard; Furano then aimed her handgun at him.

“Oblivion state one.”

Furano fired her handgun at this man.

“When he wakes up, he won’t remember us.”

Alton watched Furano in amazement. They walked to one side of the walls of this room; Furano then aimed her handgun at the wall.

“Secret door.”

Furano fired her handgun at the wall. Carvings began to appear on the wall and later became a wooden single door. Furano opened the door, which was connected to a corridor in one part of this office building. They continued walking to the end of the corridor and again used the magic that formed the secret door to move between buildings.

They walked through various buildings until finally they reached the shop building at the very end. Furano used the secret door spell on the last wall, and they arrived at a quiet sidewalk on the side of the road. After they passed through the door, the door behind them closed and began to disappear little by little quickly until it disappeared entirely into an ordinary wall. Furano looked around her and made sure it was safe.

“Okay, from here, after you get out of my cloak, you immediately get on your flying broomstick and go as far as you can.”

Alton’s expression turned doubtful.

“How about you?”

Furano’s expression changed in astonishment.

“I will also leave from here, but I hope that we can meet again; there is something I need to discuss with you about.”

Alton was slightly surprised.

“Okay. I’m just curious: why are you helping me? What’s in it for you?”

Furano looked doubtful.

“It’s a little difficult to explain, but maybe you’re also interested. This has something to do with the multiverse gate opening and connecting our Earths.”

Alton was surprised.

“What a coincidence; I also want to investigate that matter. Maybe we can discuss what we know?”

Furano nodded.

“Good idea.”

Alton appeared to remember something.

“Alright then, how can I contact you?”

Furano took out a smartphone, making Alton slightly surprised.

“I’ve been curious since I got here; what is that thing? I see almost everyone in this city is carrying that.”

Alton pointed to the smartphone in Furano’s left hand. Furano was surprised as she thought.

“I almost forgot he probably came from Earth under different circumstances….”

Furano gave her smartphone to Alton.

“I will contact you through this... long-distance communication device.”

Alton was slightly surprised, then accepted this smartphone. Furano explained briefly how Alton received a call when his smartphone rang.

“In short, that’s how this thing works.”

Alton’s expression turned slightly confused.

“Alright, I understand.”

Alton put this smartphone into his trousers pocket, and he then appeared to remember something.

“Before I go, let me introduce myself. I’m Alton Romsey, nice to meet you.”

Furano smiled.

“I’m Furano Nihonmatsu; nice to meet you too.”

Alton smiled, and he then nodded.

As planned, Alton ran out from behind Furano’s cloak and immediately grabbed his flying broomstick that was floating in a standing position near him. Alton got on his broomstick and then flew away from here quickly. Furano remained standing where she was and watched Alton leave until he was no longer visible in the night sky. Furano appeared to remember something as she thought.

“Why don't any notifications appear?”

Furano said.

“Open quest list.”

A black panel with white writing appeared before Furano:

[Quest in progress*]

[Help the lost wizard return to his earth (second earth)]

[Minimize]

Furano crossed her arms as she thought.

“I think this quest won't be complete until he returns to second earth?”

Furano said.

“Close panel.”

The panel before her vanished. Furano grabbed her flying broomstick, which was floating in a standing position near her.

“Save into inventory.”

The broomstick in her right hand began to disperse into grains of white light from the top and bottom until it dispersed entirely. Furano then walked away from here.

Elsewhere, Daganzo is confused while flying on his broomstick and holding a pocket watch in his left hand. There is no luminous magic circle floating above this pocket watch. Daganzo continued his patrol for some time, but still, no magic circle appeared above his pocket watch, making his expression change in surprise. Daganzo contacted his comrades through the single earphone in his left ear, who were also searching for Alton's whereabouts.

“I still don’t detect the intruder’s presence; what about you guys?”

One of Daganzo’s comrades, who was flying on his broomstick in another location opposite Daganzo’s direction, answered.

“Me neither; where exactly is he?”

Daganzo’s other male comrades answered.

“If that wizard can trick our detectors somehow, it will be impossible for us to track him.”
