Chapter 1: The Wizards

Sometime in the night. A man wears a knee-length overcoat, trousers, a belt, a tie, a white long-sleeved shirt, a waistcoat, and loafers. His hair is neatly styled but elegant. This man in his 30s is Daganzo Navalon, one of the wizards from Earth. Daganzo walked on the city sidewalk, empty of pedestrians, with various shop buildings on his right and left. Underneath his overcoat, he keeps a double-edged sword with a silver blade sheathed in a black scabbard, with a blade width that is twice the width of an adult man’s finger, which has fine gray grooves carved into the blade, and the blade is as long as an adult man’s arm. The sword crossguard is sturdily carved, and the hilt is long enough to be held with both hands. Daganzo took a pocket watch from the inside pocket of his overcoat and then opened it. Inside the pocket watch was a clock without any hands; however, Daganzo continued to pay attention to this pocket watch. Daganzo straightened the sword's position, which was supported on the baldric at his waist as he thought.

“We, the wizards, use an object called the “Existence Sword” that helps us use our magic power. It is said that it is called the Existence Sword because it makes the existence of our magic power into reality.”

Daganzo pulled his sword out of its scabbard slightly and revealed its glossy silver blade with fine carvings; he then put the sword back completely into its scabbard. Daganzo walked while keeping an eye on the pocket watch on his right hand, which soon reacted.

Not long after, a magic circle floated above the pocket watch glass resembling an hour and minute hand of the watch that was pointing somewhere and moving slightly. Daganzo then communicated with his comrades via a single earphone in his left ear.

“I found the intruder; get into your respective positions.”

In another place, a man in his 30s wearing a knee-length overcoat, a shirt, a tie, a waistcoat, trousers, a belt, and loafers was standing in a city park area surrounded by roads, with a stone road dividing the garden, and was one of Daganzo’s comrades.

“Understood.”

Daganzo then ended the call.

While walking at an accelerated pace, after crossing the sidewalk, Daganzo arrived in front of a one-story restaurant with a double-door entrance and a row of several rectangular windows to the right and left of the door. Daganzo looked at the pocket watch in his right hand, the clock hour and minute hand in the form of a magic circle floating above this watch, pointing towards a restaurant building. Daganzo looked at this restaurant with a serious expression, then said with the single earphone in his left ear.

“I have arrived at the position.”

Daganzo's comrade, who was on standby in one part of the city, replied.

“Understood, we are ready to assist you at any time.”

They then ended their respective call.

Back to some time ago, the time was 9:00 pm. In a restaurant, the customers have all gone, leaving only a 16-year-old teenage boy sitting at one of the tables in this restaurant, which has a sofa on both sides of the table facing each other, for four people. This table is arranged in rows of several similar tables, and all of them are close together in the front of the row of rectangle windows in the front part inside this restaurant. This teenage boy wore his school uniform: a long-sleeved shirt, a school vest, trousers, a tie, a belt, a waist bag, and loafers. His hair is slightly long but stylishly styled. His attention is fixed on the TV mounted on the ceiling that shows news about Black Star. A young adult waitress in her 20s paid attention to this teenage boy while standing at the cashier counter with a restaurant bar table for eating next to it. This woman watched this teenage boy and occasionally glanced at her watch. Finally, the waitress moved from where she was standing and walked towards the teenage boy, then stood near his table.

“Sorry, but our restaurant will be closed.”

The teenage boy’s attention turned to the waitress while looking at his watch momentarily.

“Oh right, sorry, I was too focused on the news program on TV.”

The teenage boy extended his hand toward this woman and then showed his empty hand.

“This is the fee.”

Seeing the teenage boy’s actions, the waitress’s expression turned astonished.

“Are you kidding with me?”

The teenage boy smiled; he then turned and grasped his hand, then turned it back towards this woman, and then on the palm of this teenage boy’s hand was money folded in half; everything happened in just a fraction of a second. The waitress was surprised; she then accepted the money from the teenage boy. The woman appeared hard to believe what she just saw while smiling.

“Wow, how did you do it? You have to tell me the trick if you want to impress me.”

The teenage boy smiled.

“No tricks here, miss.”

The teenage boy stood up from his seat and immediately tried to reach something past the side of this woman’s head towards the back of the head of this woman using his right hand, making this woman slightly surprised. In a split second, the teenage boy withdrew his right hand, which was now holding a flower; he then handed this flower to the woman.

“This is my token of apology for keeping you waiting.”

With an expression of disbelief, the woman accepted this flower.

“Whatever your tricks are, I admit you have talent.”

The teenage boy smiled. The woman’s attention turned to the TV behind her, and she saw the news about Black Star. Before long, her expression turned slightly scared.

“I can understand why you would be interested in that news….”

The woman said while looking back at the teenage boy, but he had already disappeared, surprising the waitress. She looked around but still could not find the teenage boy's whereabouts. Back on the TV screen, the headline news being conveyed is entitled “Hero or Villain?”.

Back to a few moments before. The female waitress turned to the TV. The teenage boy behind her then looked at his watch and pressed one of the buttons on his watch, which made the hour and minute hand on his watch stop. At the same time, the female waitress before him remained silent in her place, motionless as if time had stopped just for her.

The boy in school uniform walked out by the front door of the restaurant and then looked at his watch, which stopped working. From the restaurant’s entrance door, the female waitress who met the teenage boy still did not move. The teenage boy pressed the button on his watch, and the hour and minute hand on his watch immediately moved back to the correct time. Immediately, the waitress in the restaurant moved again and looked back, but she was confused because the teenage boy behind her was no longer there. The restaurant entrance door was then closed by this teenage boy. This 16-year-old teenage boy wearing a high school uniform is Alton Romsey, a wizard from another Earth of twin realms.

Daganzo stood with his arms crossed and an astonished expression, looking at Alton, who had not yet noticed his presence.

“Time magic is prohibited from being used by underage wizards in our world; I don’t know what the policy is in your world?”

Alton was slightly surprised; his attention then turned to Daganzo.

“First of all, I would like to say that you all have something very interesting here; Black Star is extraordinary even to me.”

Daganzo’s expression changed to surprise; he then realized something.

“To be honest, I didn’t expect that the intruder this time was a high schooler. Are you interested in seeing Black Star, or are you interested in seeing that TV?”

Alton smiled.

“We also have a TV, although perhaps not as sophisticated as yours.

Daganzo’s expression turned deadpan. Not long after, Alton appeared to realize something.

“Regarding that Black Star, shouldn’t you worry about what he will do instead of paying attention to me here?”

Daganzo sighed.

“Black Star doesn’t even know that wizards exist; thanks to our magical abilities, we can continue to hide our existence.”

Alton grinned.

“Are you sure he will still won’t know about your whereabouts in the future?”

Daganzo’s expression turned serious.

“Surrender yourself right now, then everything will be alright.”

Alton’s expression turned deadpan.

“Sorry, but I can’t do that.”

Alton was about to press the button on his watch, but Daganzo immediately pulled his sword from its scabbard and pointed the tip of his sword at Alton.

“Time Flow.”

Alton, who pressed one of the buttons on his watch, was surprised.

“Dammit, I should have known time magic won’t have any effect on a senior wizard like you.”

Alton immediately took out a dagger from his waist bag. This dagger is half the length of an adult man’s arm, with a handle that can be wielded with just one hand. The sheat and hilt of this dagger are black and had beautiful fine carvings on them. Alton entered a stance, ready to attack.

“The way you guys use magic isn’t too much different from ours.”
