Chapter 46: Recreate the Magic Spell

Daganzo hovered on his broomstick at a considerable distance from the gigantic Phoenix leader automaton that stood on both its legs and wings; he answered through his earphone connection.

“Alright, let’s begin.”

Daganzo rode his flying broomstick toward the other direction of the Phoenix while carrying his Existence sword in his right hand.

The Phoenix’s attention turned towards Furano; it opened its beak, and a wisp of flame blaze formed and burned its beak. The Phoenix breathes a powerful burst of fire that can reach a long distance toward Furano. Furano appeared not going to evade; she pulled the left side of her cloak forward to block; the Phoenix’s powerful fire burst hit Furano’s cloak but did not affect her and her cloak at all, followed by the appearance of a black panel with white writing beside Furano:

Alton accelerated his broomstick, flying vertically before the building’s framed glass panes from below, towards the Phoenix on the top of it. The Phoenix appeared to realize it and immediately stopped its fire burst, then turned towards Alton, who flew toward it from below. The Phoenix opened its beak to attack Alton. Daganzo rode his flying broomsticks toward the Phoenix from the side while carrying his sword in his right hand as he said.

“Ice Slash.”

Frozen ice spread across Daganzo’s sword blade; he then stopped, hovered on his broomstick, and slashed his sword toward the Phoenix. A huge crescent-shaped ice shot towards the Phoenix and hit its head, freezing the Phoenix’s beak and face. The wisp of fire blaze that had barely formed in its beak was extinguished, and it was momentarily blinded by the ice covering its eyes.

Alton accelerated his flying broomstick without hesitation toward the Phoenix, carrying Ice Dagger in his right hand. Alton reached the front of the Phoenix’s chest, stabbing his Soul Dagger into its magic core. The burning magical core began to freeze and gradually dimmer, and the Phoenix began to react as if Alton’s attack affected and disturbed it. Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned surprised as he thought.

“The Soul Dagger’s power was truly extraordinary, other magic spell attacks do not affect the Phoenix, but just one attack from this soul dagger can affect it....”

Alton continued to stabilize his stab at the Phoenix magic core. The Phoenix used its fire element to burn and destroy the ice covering its face; it then saw that Alton had stabbed its magic core. The Phoenix’s movements got heavier; it then used its right wing to slash Alton. Daganzo rode his flying broomsticks towards the Phoenix’s right direction while carrying his sword in his right hand; he then concentrated.

“Ice Slash.”

Frozen ice spread across Daganzo’s sword blade; he then slashed his sword towards the Phoenix’s. A huge crescent-shaped ice shot quickly and hit the Phoenix’s right-wing, freezing it quickly and thickly. The Phoenix’s right-wing movements got heavier and then stopped.

The Phoenix was about to use its left wing to attack; Furano rode her flying broomsticks toward the Phoenix’s left while carrying her handgun in her right hand.

“Blizzard Blast.”

A dendrite ice crystal with a diameter of one meter formed on Furano’s handgun muzzle, and ice spread across its barrel; she then aimed it towards the Phoenix’s left wing and fired it. Ice resembled an arrow shot fast, hitting the Phoenix’s left wing and froze it. The Phoenix’s state that getting weaker due to the Ice Dagger’s stab caused Blizzard Blast to have a stronger effect. Frozen Ice spread quickly and thickly on the Phoenix’s left wing; its left-wing movement was getting heavier and finally stopped, only a few meters away from hitting Alton.

Alton maintained his position while holding his Ice Dagger that stabbed into the Phoenix’s magic core, causing it to dimmer and freeze increasingly. Furano and Daganzo rode their flying broomstick in various directions from the Phoenix as they attacked it using Blizzard Blast and Ice Slash magic spells until the Phoenix’s gigantic body finally froze entirely. The Phoenix’s magic core previously glowed bright red; now, it has completely dimmed to black, covered in quite thick ice. The Phoenix’s gigantic body froze inside the gigantic ice with an uneven surface and did not move. After being sure that the Phoenix had been defeated, Alton pulled out his soul dagger from the Phoenix’s magic core.

Alton rode his flying broomsticks and moved back quite a distance from the Phoenix; Daganzo and Furano rode their broomsticks closer to Alton. Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned surprised as he observed the freezing Phoenix.

“I can’t believe we could defeat the Phoenix.”

Furano nodded.

“This is all thanks to Alton’s ice Dagger.”

Alton smiled cheerfully.

“I couldn’t have done it without you two help.”

Daganzo and Furano smiled. Furano looked at the Phoenix with an astonished expression as she thought.

“Somehow, I feel that the Phoenix leader was too easy to defeat for beyond S category….”

Furano appeared to realize something; she looked around her curiously as she thought.

“Why isn’t there the XP information panel that usually appears every time I defeat the automatons....”

Alton and Daganzo watched Furano curiously. Alton said.

“Is something happened, Furano?”

Furano came to her senses and turned to Alton; she then smiled.

“It’s okay, I just wanted to confirm something.”

Alton nodded. Furano then turned to the frozen Phoenix leader and watched it with a worried expression as she thought.

“Somehow, I have a bad feeling about this...”

Alton and Daganzo then also watched the Phoenix Leader curiously. Alton turned to Furano and watched her curiously; he then smiled cheerfully.

“Furano?”

Furano turned to Alton. Alton’s expression turned curious.

"Can I ask you something?"

Furano smiled; she then nodded.

“Of course, Alton.”

Alton smiled.

“You always being kind to me and makes me really like you.”

Furano smiled. Alton smiled gently.

"What if I fall in love with you?"

Furano was surprised; she then watched Alton curiously.

On the other location, defense personnel have evacuated the citizens to a safer place. Hundreds of defense personnel rode their flying broomsticks, divided into many squads gathered in many corners of the city, observing the Phoenix leader’s condition, frozen on top of one of the skyscrapers in the distance after being defeated by Alton, Furano, and Daganzo, the defense personnel looked at the Phoenix with expressions of disbelief. One of the Defense personnel’s expressions turned curious.

“Has the Phoenix been defeated?”

His nearby comrade’s expression turned confused.

“I don’t know, I can’t see it too clearly from here unless the Phoenix is completely frozen.”

One of the other defense personnel then contacted the control room.

Back to sometime ago. Inside the previous spacious control room, with control panels in various corners, a long control desk with rows of computers, monitors, and a row of metal framed tall window panes before it with a view of the spacious hangar where the Phoenix leader automaton was previously kept.

The Researcher Division members checked the archives of the Book of Dimensional Magic with serious expressions, looking for a way to defeat the Phoenix Leader automaton. The Researcher leader crossed his arms.

“Phoenix Resurrection to the automaton’s body is something that even The First Wizard has difficulty controlling. He said that the Phoenix’s maximum power and abilities made it very difficult to defeat. The Phoenix, which previously could be killed, Resurrected in a semi-immortal body that can be repaired many times, making it even more difficult to defeat. However, there are two ways to cancel Phoenix Resurrection. The first is by defeating the Phoenix leader automaton, and the second is by repeating the Phoenix Resurrection Ritual Magic Spells. If the Defense Personnel cannot defeat the Phoenix, we only have a second option which is also almost impossible.”

One of the researcher’s division wizards’ expressions wearing a lab coat turned serious.

“What are the chances for the second one to be succeed?”

The Researcher leader crossed his arms and fell silent in though momentarily.

“Depending on the situation, there may be less than a chance of winning from facing Phoenix leader….”

The other researcher division wizards’ expressions turned serious. The Researcher leader continued speaking.

“We’ll try to repeat the Phoenix Resurrection Ritual Magic Spells, something that the First Wizard who created it failed to do.”

Another wizard in a lab coat in front of the control table turned to the researcher leader.

“Can you explain in more detail what we need to repeat the Phoenix Resurrection Ritual Magic Spells, sir?”

The Researcher leader nodded.

“Yes, as you have also read, we need to draw the magic circle we need, and place the Phoenix on it. With full concentration, the wizard who performs it will recreate this magic spell. The First Wizard provides notes regarding this matter. To increase the chances of success. The first, by increasing the number of wizards who perform this magic spell, up to a maximum of three people. Second, each wizard who performs come from a different Universe. Third, keep the Phoenix above the magic circle until the magic spell is finished.”
