The other two phoenixes immediately flew to the second floor to chase it. Daganzo’s Phoenix landed before Daganzo; not long after, two other Phoenixes flew and landed on the second-floor railing. Two phoenixes’ attention focused on Alton and Furano, and each Phoenix ran towards each of them on the floor using both their wings and legs, about to attack them. Daganzo swung his sword.
“Attack that Phoenixes, Phoenix automaton.”
Daganzo’s Phoenix automaton reacted, flew and then pounced toward the automaton about to attack Alton; they rolled around, destroying the floor. The opponent’s Phoenix’s attention was immediately drawn to Daganzo’s Phoenix; it breathed a powerful burst of fire and hit it. Daganzo’s phoenix parried with its left wings and dragged backward.
Alton ran behind the enemy Phoenix and stabbed his ice dagger into its back. The fire breaths from the Phoenix stopped, and it was immediately about to attack Alton behind it with a right-wing slash. However, the Phoenix’s movement finally stopped after only moving slightly because it completely froze. On the other hand, Daganzo’s Phoenix left wing burned red, but did not affect it.
Daganzo Phoenix’s attention turned to the Phoenix attacking Furano, then immediately flew to help her. This Phoenix used its wings and legs with sharp talons to run toward Furano. Furano concentrated.
“Blizzard Blast.”
Dendrite ice crystal six times the width of an adult man’s palm began to form at the Furano’s handgun muzzle, and ice quickly froze and spread on the handgun barrel. The phoenix had run quite close to Furano, immediately pouncing towards her. Furano immediately pulled the left part of the cloak with her left hand to parry; the phoenix crashed into Furano’s cloak, causing its flight to become unsteady and turned to the side; then fell and destroyed the floor, while Furano wasn’t affected at all. A black panel with white writing appeared near Furano:
[The Cloak of Grim Reaper item effect activated]

Furano aimed her handgun at the phoenix, then shot it. The dendrite ice crystal on the handgun muzzle broke; the ice in the shape of an arrow shot towards the phoenix, which had just returned to its feet with two wings and legs and hit it directly. The phoenix’s entire body was frozen by thick ice, causing it to be unable to move. The phoenix formed fire in its beak and melted the ice on its body, allowing it to move slightly. Daganzo’s expression turned serious.
“Ice Slash.”
Freezing ice spread rapidly on Daganzo’s sword blade. Daganzo slashed his sword toward the Phoenix. A huge crescent-shaped ice shot towards the frozen phoenix and hit it directly. The ice immediately thickened all over the phoenix’s body again, causing it to be unable to move, but the phoenix again formed the fire element, and the ice began to melt.
Daganzo’s Phoenix landed near the frozen phoenix, then opened its beak and formed a fire wisp which became increasingly dense quickly. The phoenix fired a fireball twice the size of before, hit the frozen phoenix and exploded violently, creating a large fire blast. The frozen phoenix was thrown several meters away, and the ice on its body shattered. The phoenix immediately managed to get up on its wings and legs stagger slightly. Furano ran towards the phoenix as she said.
“Cannon Blast.”
The patterns on Furano’s handgun glowed and gradually became brighter; she then put her handgun muzzle to the pocket watch, merged to the phoenix’s chest, and fired her handgun while her left hand pulled her cloak forward to protect her. A huge explosion from a fire blast fused with a wind blast hit the phoenix, causing the phoenix to be thrown back several meters, and the pocket watch on its chest cracked. Furano was not affected because she was covering behind her cloak. Soon after, two black panels with white writing appeared near Furano:

[Phoenix automaton defeated]
[XP Gained: 20]
[Close]
Alton, Daganzo, and Furano walked over to the phoenix they had just defeated. Alton was surprised.
“If it continues like this, we will get exhausted before we can defeat all the automatons.”
Daganzo opened his mask; he then nodded.
“We have to find a way to avoid them.”
Alton remembered something.
“I saw several defense personnel guarding outside this building; there could be at least dozens surrounding this building.”
Daganzo and Furano were surprised. Daganzo’s expression turned astonished.
“Somehow, they didn’t attack all at once. We’ll use this situation to our advantage to break through at one point while they also seem not to know our capabilities fully.”
Furano and Alton nodded. Daganzo’s attention was drawn to Alton’s Ice Dagger.
“It’s the first time I’ve seen a dagger like that.”
Alton was slightly surprised.
“Even though we use it quite often.”
Daganzo nodded.
“Scout Division might keep that information a secret.”
Alton nodded, raised his ice dagger at face level, and concentrated.
“Deactivating Soul Dagger.”
The dagger blade shattered gradually and quickly into snowflakes that flew upward until it finally disappeared completely. Alton reconnected his dagger’s hilt with his dagger’s sheath, then swung it.
“Come, Dragon Wings.”
Alton’s broomstick flew toward him from the first floor; he then caught it with his right hand. Daganzo swung his sword.
“Come, Eagle Feather.”
Daganzo’s broomstick flew at him from the third floor, and Daganzo caught it in his right hand. Furano said.
“Open inventory.”
A black panel with white writing and images appeared before Furano.
[Image of a broomstick x1] [Image of a medallion x1] [Image of a glass bottle shaped like an Erlenmeyer flask filled with light green liquid x2]
*(Note: Nine item slots available, five per item type).
*(Tip: Go to the chest in the safe town to store more items).
Furano touched the image of a broomstick; the image of it then enlarged and filled most of the black panel screen, along with an explanation. Furano pulled out her broomstick from inside the black panel. Daganzo was slightly surprised, while Alton appeared quite used to that, but they could not see the black panel.
Daganzo walked to the open hallway railing; he then put his mask back on and observed the night sky view outside the destroyed window in the ceiling alertly. Alton watched Furano curiously.
“Furano?”
Furano turned to Alton. Alton smiled gently.
“You know that I like you, right?”
Furano was surprised.
“Why do you ask that?”
Alton smiled.
“At least, I want you to know that I like you.”
Furano watched Alton curiously; she then smiled.
“Yes, Alton.”
Alton smiled cheerfully. Furano smiled.
“Let’s quickly finish this and talk together again.”
Alton was surprised; he then smiled and nodded.
Outside the library building. A five meters tall metal Phoenix leader automaton flew towards the library in the night sky covered with glass walls magic spells, then landed on top of one of the skyscrapers and observed the library building, surprising the defense personnel rode their flying broomsticks. One of the defense personnel’s expressions turned serious.
“No matter how I look at it, I still feel threatened around that gigantic Phoenix automaton....”
Not long after, one of the defense personnel received a call from the researcher leader via a single earphone in his ear.
“The Phoenix Automaton’s individual attack test data has been obtained; now you can attack freely.”
The defense personnel were slightly surprised.
“Understood, sir.”
His expression turned serious.
“Get ready to all defense personnel. We’ll attack into the library at the same time.”
Back to the control room inside the Wizards Government of Spain central building where the researcher division previously observed the Phoenix leader progress inside the hangar through a row of framed glass panes before them. The researcher leader and several wizards from the researcher division observed the Phoenix leader automaton development through the row of monitors on the control desk before them. One of the wizards in a lab coat was shocked.
“The phoenix leader’s loss control probability is increasing rapidly.”
The researcher leader was shocked and immediately walked to the monitor, showing the Phoenix leader’s condition.
“What caused it?”
The wizard’s expression turned doubtful.
“The cause is unknown. The phoenix leader must be connected to another energy source to stabilize it.”
The researcher leader’s expression turned serious.
“Turn it off forcefully.”
One of the wizards in a lab coat answered.
“All non-magic remote controls are inactive.”
Another wizard said.
“The Phoenix leader losing control probability reaches 45%.”
The researcher leader was shocked.
Back to the area around the library building. The Phoenix leader was perched on top of the skyscrapers using its wings and talons on its legs. The Phoenix leader suddenly looked at its surroundings with an alert stance as if it was about to attack. On the other hand, defense personnel who surrounded the library building prepared to attack into the building together.
Soon, the phoenix automatons flying around them lost power, and the glowing patterns all over their bodies dimmed gradually quickly and then out. The Phoenixes fell onto and destroyed the road surface around the library, and some fell on the buildings around the library. The defense personnel’s expressions turned astonished; some flew down to check their phoenix automatons and tried to use magic to command them, but they still did not react. One of the defense personnel’s expressions turned astonished.
“What happened?”
