Chapter 45: Phoenix Leader Automaton Weakness

Chapter 45: Phoenix Leader Automaton Weakness

In another location in the city, the expression of one of the defense personnel in another squad turned serious; he then communicated through his single earphone.

“There was still no news from the Researcher division. Should we approach the Phoenix?”

Not long after, the defense personnel saw that the gigantic Phoenix leader automaton aimed its burned beak toward them in the distance. His comrade’s expression nearby turned serious.

“Is that Phoenix aiming this way?”

One of the other Defense personnel’s expression turned serious.

“Prepare to evade!”

The Phoenix fired a huge fireball that shot very fast; dozens of defense personnel rode their flying broomsticks immediately evaded to the left or right side; the fireball shot past just a few meters away from them. The fireball hit one of the skyscrapers in the distance and caused a huge explosion. One of the defense personnel in other squads appeared to realize something; he then said through his earphone connection.

“To all defense personnel, hide or get out of the Phoenix area of sight immediately so that it doesn’t know your location.”

All defense personnel’s expressions turned serious, and they rode their flying broomsticks away, some hiding behind buildings and others landing on the road surface. The Phoenix leader was about to shoot another fireball, but then it looked confused because it didn’t see any defense personnel. The bright flame blaze in Phoenix’s beak dimmed and disappeared; it looked around confusedly.

In another location, Alton, Daganzo, and Furano rode their flying broomsticks vigilantly across the night sky covered in glass walls magic spells, heading towards the Phoenix leader in the distance. Alton watched Furano curiously from beside her.

“Furano?”

Furano turned to Alton. Alton smiled.

“I want to make you like being with me.”

Furano watched Alton curiously.

“Why are you telling me that?”

Alton smiled gently.

“Because I like being with you.”

Furano was surprised; she then smiled.

“Thank you, Alton.”

Alton smiled cheerfully.

“Let’s do our best.”

Furano smiled; she then nodded. They continued riding their flying broomsticks towards the Phoenix.

In many corners of the city, hundreds of the citizens were panicked, and they rushed out of the buildings. Dozens of defense personnel who happened to be nearby were surprised to see them and communicated through their earphone connection.

“The citizens were panicked and running out of the building, sir.”

Elsewhere, one of the defense personnel’s expressions in another group turned serious.

“Don’t let the Phoenix leader notice the citizens.”

This defense personnel replied through his earphone connection.

“Understood, sir.”

Dozens of the defense personnel rode their broomsticks, approached the citizens as they drew their Existence swords, and pointed them at the citizens who were surprised and amazed to see them.

“Oblivion.”

Other defense personnel nearby also cast the same magic spell; the citizens then became calm. Other defense personnel in various locations around the Phoenix leader also calmed the citizens using the same magic spell.

In another location, the citizens who ran out of the building in panic gathered at a public space surrounded by roads and buildings; their attention was then focused on the Phoenix leader in the distance, still observing its surroundings in confusion. Defense personnel who were aware of the citizens’ presence were shocked to see them gathered in an open area.

Phoenix leader looked around alertly, then noticed the citizens’ presence gathered at a public space in the distance. The Phoenix leader opened its beak, and a wisp of fire formed again. The Phoenix aimed its burned beak toward the citizens gathered at a public space in the distance. Realizing that the Phoenix was aimed at the citizens, the defense personnel were shocked. The citizens then also noticed the gigantic phoenix leader’s presence in the distance, which was quite clear because of the light patterns all over its body. The citizens stay in their places while questioning the Phoenix. The defense personnel flew over to this crowd of people. One of the defense personnel’s expressions turned serious.

“Casting Oblivion magic spell at them won’t make it in time, use the Glass Walls magic spells to protect them instead.”

Dozens of other defense personnel nodded; they then rode their flying broomsticks between the buildings, surprising the citizens who watched them with expressions of fright, amazement, surprise, etc. The defense personnel pointed their swords forward.

“Glass Walls.”

Other defense personnel also cast this magic spell, and a glass wall with an uneven surface formed before them. Several other defense personnel landed before them, one of whom looked worried.

“Sorry, but you all have to immediately evacuate from here right now.”

The citizens began asking questions, starting from the Phoenix, who the defense personnel really were, and who were using flying broomsticks and glass walls magic spells. One of the defense personnel’s expression turned astonished.

“This is not the time to ask question.”

One of the other defense personnel turned to their comrades and nodded to each other. They drew their swords from the scabbards at their waists and pointed them at the citizens, shocking them. One of the defense personnel’s expressions turned serious.

“Oblivion.”

Dozens of other defense personnel also casted this magic spell. The citizens, hit by this magic spell, then fell silent in their places with Deadpan expressions and began to walk away in an orderly manner.

Back to the Phoenix, a huge fireball had formed in its beak, then shot it towards the glass walls that protected the citizens. This Fireball shot quickly toward dozens of defense personnel who continued to widen their glass walls. One of the defense personnel’s expressions turned serious.

“Incoming!”

Not long after that, the fireball hit the Glass Walls the defense personnel had formed to parry and caused a huge fire explosion, shattering the glass walls and gradually disappearing. However, the glass walls suppressed the explosion from the fireball and shattered the buildings’ window panes on the right and left sides of the road. The defense personnel who created and hovered behind the Glass Walls magic spell then thrown backward while still riding their broomsticks and landed quite hard on the road surface; their broomsticks were thrown, but they were safe from fatal fall injuries because of their broomsticks. Even so, they looked in pain because of the huge fireball blast. Dozens of defense personnel who had finished evacuating citizens away immediately helped them.

On the other hand, Daganzo, Furano, and Alton arrived near the Phoenix, standing with its both legs and wings on the top of the skyscraper, and not yet noticed their presence. Their expressions turned serious when they saw the Phoenix shoot fireballs to attacks without hesitation. Furano watched the Phoenix focusedly.

“Skill activation, Analyze.”

Not long after, a black panel with white writing appeared before Furano:

[Analyze skill results]

[Close]

Furano read the black panel before her momentarily; her expression turned surprised as she thought.

“Beyond S? The difference in power is much stronger compared to the Phoenix automatons. I have to warn Daganzo and Alton.”

Furano said through her earphone connection.

“I just analyzed this Phoenix with my magical ability, the difference in power is much stronger compared to ordinary Phoenix automatons. We should be much more careful.”

Alton was surprised and answered via his earphone connection.

“Understood, proceed with caution.”

Daganzo turned to Furano and answered through his earphone connection.

“It’s understandable considering this Phoenix can power dozens of other phoenix automatons without being affected.”

Furano nodded. Daganzo observed the Phoenix leader in the distance before him warily. Behind his mask, Daganzo’s expression turned serious; he then said through his earphone connection.

“The Phoenix’s attacks became stronger. Luckily, the defense personnel were able to act in time.”

Alton turned to Daganzo and answered through his single earphone.

“We have to stop it immediately.”

Daganzo nodded.

“As far as we know, the Soul Dagger is the most effective weapon to defeat the automatons.”

Furano’s expression turned hesitant, and answered through the earphone connection in her ear.

“It is too dangerous to approach the Phoenix.”

Alton turned to Daganzo and Furano.

“It’s okay, I’ll try attacking it with Soul Dagger.”

Alton removed his soul dagger hilt from its sheath; he then concentrated.

“Soul Forge, Ice Dagger.”

A dagger blade made of white and blue ice formed on the Soul Dagger hilt. Daganzo appeared to realize something; he then turned to Alton and Furano.

“We have to determine our attack strategy.”

Alton and Furano nodded. Furano appeared to realize something.

“I have a good idea.”

Alton and Daganzo looked at Furano with curious expressions.

The Phoenix observed its surroundings vigilantly as if determining the target of its next attack. Furano rode her flying broomsticks towards the Phoenix, stopping and hovering quite far before it.

“Blizzard Blast.”

A dendrite ice crystal one meter in diameter was formed at the Furano handgun muzzle, and freezing ice spread across the barrel. Furano aimed and fired her handgun at the Phoenix; ice resembled an arrow shot quickly towards the Phoenix and hit the burning magic core in its chest. The ice arrow, which could freeze its target intensely, shattered instantly when it hit the Phoenix magic core. Furano’s expression turned serious; she communicated through the single earphone connection.

“The magic core is indeed the source of the Phoenix’s power.”
