The Chosen One Next Door
Interlude meeting the sister

Interlude meeting the sister

Haley had tried the dresses and picked one, Melin had forgiven her for basically disappearing for three days. Stevie, Lisa, and Molly were not bothered as much. They are tethered to her, they would know if she went too far away. A new day had arrived, and she is eating breakfast with Abby, Melin and Stevie. Someone knocked on the door, Haley got up, “I will answer it.”

She opened the door and there stood a woman in the door opening. Golden, straight hair tied in a ponytail reveals a lean, menacing face. Shuttered gray eyes, set lightly within her sockets. She stretched her hand out, Haley took it, “My name is Haley, who are you?”

“The name is Dionysus, Dion for short.”

Haley looked at her, “That is a nice robe you are wearing.”

“Thank you, yes, we Olympians love robes, can I come in?”

“Uhm, sure?”

Melin got up, “Oh fuck, what are you doing here?”

“Well, I heard my sister is getting married. Might as well pay a visit, as you are my sister.”

Haley looked at the tension, “Oh, dear.”

Stevie took a bite from a sandwich, “Don’t mind me, I am just enjoying the show.”

Abby grinned, “I am with him. Brothers and sisters are difficult.”

Stevie nodded, “Yeah, that.”

Dion looked at them, “Friends of yours?”

“Yeah, if you would come by more often, then you would know. But you sit high and mighty on that top.”

Dion chuckled, “You come by often enough, you never visit me.”

“No, you are, just, I don’t like you.”

Dion crossed her arms, “And yet, I came here to see you get married, there will be booze.”

“Well, does mom know!?”

“No, I haven’t told her yet.”

“No, of course you did not, she despises you.”

“Are you kidding me? She does not despise me, I am a lovely woman.”

“My wife is coming as well.”

Haley cleared her throat, “Maybe it runs in the family.”

Abby giggled, “Haley!”

“Sorry, I am allowed to say that.”

Melin looked at Haley, “You, I, fuck you.”

Haley nodded, “Alright, but not in front of people.”

Melin had to laugh, “Oh my god, I cannot take you serious when you are acting like this.”

Dion giggled, “It is good to see you two.”

Melin looked at her, “Well, is your dad, my uncle, coming too?”

Haley opened her mouth, but no words came out. Abby nodded, “Yep, I am with you Haley, that is fucked up, that means Zeus is her father, and Persephone her mom. But Zeus is Persephone’s dad.”

Stevie looked at her, “No, rather, Persephone got knocked up after a one time incident.”

Melin sighed, “Imagine having to spend day in, day out with these idiots.”

Haley laughed, “I never heard you complain.”

“That is true, you guys are awesome to hang out with.”

Dion sighed, “You have become a bit jolly Melin, where did the sad, lonely and outcast Melin go?”

“I am sorry, she is not home, do you want me to leave a message for her?”

Dion chuckled, “No, I like the jolly you.” Dion walked towards Haley, “I saw the recording, you did amazing.”

“Thanks, I did my best.”

Bella walked inside, “Hello people. Oh, a new face, I am going to ignore you. Melin, can you come with me? We need to make some important decisions about the upcoming wedding.”

Melin looked at Dion, “Sorry, I have got to run.” Melin walked over to Haley and kissed her, “See you soon, my love.”

Bella grabbed Melin by her hand and she dragged her away. Abby shrugged, “Well, that happened. Is anyone else desiring some coffee?”

Dion scratched the back of her head, “What just happened?”

“That was her maid of honor, Bella is not married. Abby is mine. Bella is a good friend of ours.”

Stevie nodded, “I have known her for-” he trailed off.

Dion looked at him, “Does he do that often?”

Haley nodded, “You get used to it, he lives in my head.”

Stevie chuckled, “I lost count, but, yeah, I also got used to her weird behavior.”

Dion pointed at Stevie, “He, lives in your head, like Micheal had people in his head?”

Haley nodded while sitting down, “Weird, huh. Maybe I am crazy, like him, he is my dad after all.”

Stevie tried to keep it in, but he chuckled. Abby looked around, “So, no one wants to have coffee?”

“Give me some Abs.”

“Alright Haley.” Abby looked around, “Where is my sister?”

“Molly is fishing.”

Abby sighed, “Please tell me she is not going to get eaten by that shark again.”

Haley laughed, “At least that shark had no teeth anymore, Lisa fished her out, she was fine.”

Dion sat down next to Haley, “Is this how things usually go around here?”

Stevie nodded, “Yes, pretty much. Haley can absorb people, anchor souls to her own. She has a house in her head. She gave me a room.”

Dion sighed, “of course, Melin found a fucking weirdo.”

“Hey, I am sitting next to you.”

This story originates from a different website. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.

Dion shrugged, “I don’t mind calling you a weirdo.”

Abby laughed, “You better not piss her off, or she is going to kick your ass.” Abby put down cups of coffee and sat down.

Dion smiled, “Do you have brothers, sisters, or any other family, Haley?”

She sighed as she suddenly turned serious, “Can we talk about anything else?”

Dion nodded, “Yeah, sorry, I did not mean to really harm your feelings.”

Haley nodded, “I know, it is just, things are complicated, I learned my family is bigger than I had ever expected. I have older brothers and sisters.”

Stevie nodded, “I think something bad happened, she spent three full days training in a barren field. I went to take a peek and had a chat with Charon. Haley did not even notice me walking past her as she was swinging her sword around.”

“I noticed you, I just didn’t care. You were not in danger, there was no other pressing matter, if you want to walk through my training field, it can be your funeral.”

Stevie smiled, “I liked your sword.”

Abby nodded, “yeah, Melin talked about it, but I haven’t seen it yet. You have to show me!”

Haley got up and spawned her giant katana, wielding it with only her right hand. Dion gasped, “Wow, a Minotaur could be proud of that.”

Haley let out a smile from the corner of her mouth, “Thanks. Look, Dion, it was a pleasure meeting you but, I have some place to be.”

Stevie looked up, “You do?”

“Yes, I have, a secret meeting.”

Abby sighed, “Again? I know you are part of this Inner Circle thing, but, what can be this important?”

“Well, I am meeting with Hera. She has a big secret she only wants to tell me.” Haley looked at Dion, “Did Zeus cheat and get you?”

Dion slowly nodded, “Don’t tell Hera I am here, not until Zeus gets here, she can be a mean bitch.”

Haley sighed, “I would feel the same, Dion.”

“What, you are fucking twenty years old or something, how would you know?”

Haley chuckled, “And yet, I am your only hope.”

Abby laughed, “Good one, Haley.”

Stevie sighed, “The worst part is that she is right.”

Haley left while waving, she kept the katana on her shoulder. She walked to a spot where no one could listen. Hera appeared from behind a tree. “Hello Haley, it is good to see you again. The wedding is coming along greatly, but there is something I need to tell you.”

“Yeah, what do you want to tell me Hera?”

“First things first, did I see Dion?”

“Yeah, she came to visit her sister, Zeus is her dad?”

Hera sighed and rolled her eyes. “Yeah, Melin is her older sister. Zeus believed he could give Persephone a better child, his own daughter. He took Hades’s form, and well, you can see where that goes.”

Haley had an aha moment as Hera went on with her story, “Persephone and Zeus are kind of amicable with each other, but they also despise each other. We all have a common enemy, but, one wrong thing and the entire mountain will collapse. All because Zeus is a horny, loving bastard.”

Haley frowned her eyebrows, “Do you have some, pent-up resentment in there, Hera?”

“Maybe a little bit. The fact Zeus was right, did not help, Dion became much more popular than Melin.”

Haley sighed, “Those two sisters can’t get along very well.”

Hera nodded, “Now, as for that secret, I found something, interesting. Charon actually found it but, he owed me a favor. Hera slipped a paper towards Haley. “After you have read it, destroy it. This information cannot be made public, not until the time is right, or until the mountain collapses, and certainly not before I tell you it is alright”

Haley looked at the note, “No fucking way. Are you sure!?”

Hera nodded, “The mysterious associates of the Agency confirmed this intel. You now know something, the other people in the Inner Circle don’t know. You need to keep this information a secret.”

“Why are you entrusting this to me, Hera?”

She smiled, “I have my reasons, and my reasons will be shrouded in darkness.”

“If my husband finds outs, then, well, we are all going to have a stormy day.”

Haley chuckled, “That is a good word play, but I fear, it won’t be a good stormy day.”

Hera shook her head, “Since I did not know about this information, I have acted wrongly. The Agency is hiding something, though, and I cannot get it out of them. Perhaps, you can be more persuasive to let them, slide that certain piece of information?”

Haley looked at the note, she shredded it into pieces and evaporated the shreds with red energy. “I am not certain how you expect me to do that, Hera. They certainly have not let me into their Inner Circle. But, if I see an opportunity, I will take it.” Haley sighed, “This complicates things greatly. But, the puzzle pieces are starting to fall into place. Thank you for this, Hera, I need to let this stew for a while. I am going to find Abby, we need to get some things done for the wedding.”

Hera smiled and nodded, “I am eagerly awaiting your wedding.”
