Chapter 45

The next day, I woke up and went through the same routine. It is Saturday, and we both had a day off, I am sure what Lory wants to do. After making some breakfast for both of us. I sat down and waited for Lory to wake up.

Eventually, she came to the kitchen while yawning and stretching, she sat down, “You tired me out last night.”

I smiled, “Breakfast is ready.” I grabbed the laptop, after it had booted up, I started searching for wedding venues. “What would you like, Lory? Something within our budget if possible, I mean, I would love to get married in a zeppelin or something, but, I don’t think we have the money for that. Wait, do zeppelin’s still fly around?”

Lory chuckled, “I say no to a zeppelin, but what about a resort?”

“If I think a resort, then it will be expensive. Maybe on the beach.”

Lory nodded, “Write that one down.”

After grabbing a pen and paper, I wrote it down. “What about a boat, or a cruise?”

Lory shook her head, “Nah, I get seasick. I hate boats.”

“You never told me that.”

Lory grinned, “You never asked.”

“Oh, what about a zoo? We love going to the zoo.”

Lory seemed to be thinking, “Then I want to get married near the wolves. Write it down.”

“Shall I also write down aquarium?”

“Yeah, do that. Heck, we could even do it in our backyard.”

“Are you serious, Lory?”

“Yeah, sure, why not.”

I shrugged, “I will write it down. How about Disney World?”

Lory laughed, “You want to get married in a theme park?”

“Sure, why not?”

Lory laughed loudly, “Yeah, your dress is not going to get ruined when you go on a rollercoaster. Oh, and you throw up badly Steve, remember when you threw up on me?”

I chuckled awkwardly and looked away, “If I say no, will you believe me?”

Lory shook her head, “Not at all.”

“Fine, if we don’t go on a rollercoaster, can I write down theme park?”

Lory let her head hang on her hand, “Fine, but it goes completely at the bottom of the list.”

I chuckled, “Fine with me.” I actually wrote it down at the bottom of the paper, which made Lory snort. “Now that we have some ideas, we should think about who we are going to invite. I don’t have many friends or family, to be honest. What about you?”

“Steve?”

“Yes?”

“I am from a different reality, I know you, and some of the people you know, and that’s it. We could even elope. If we do that, it would mean it is about us two. Not all the guests we will be scrounging up.”

I nodded slowly, “We need to think about this.”

Lory nodded, “I agree, and I love to talk more about this, but I have got a video game that is waiting for me.”

I smiled, “Boot it up, I will be right there, let me clean up breakfast.” Lory shot up and ran away, I sighed, “She is, energetic, even early in the morning.”

As I sat down next to Lory, who booted up the game, I had this strange itch on my left arm, and the idea that my brain wanted to tell me something. I just wanted my brain to shut up, I don’t care. Lory looked at me, “I can see it on your face.”

“What?”

“You know it too.”

“What?”

“That something is wrong.”

“I don’t care. You?”

“Nope, I am happy, and I am not going to bring it up ever again, I am happy like this.”

I put my head on her shoulder, “Me too. Now, what kind of game is it? Is it turn based?”

“Yeah, just like the old Final Fantasy games.”

“Awesome, I like turn-based games.”

Lory chuckled, “You can even switch to real-time combat in this game.”

“For real? They have both?”

“Yeah, it is quite outstanding.”

“Indeed, this, I have to see.”

We played the game for many hours, Lory handed me the controller occasionally. That way we could both play this game. Once it was time for dinner, I got up, “I will get us something from the nearby fast food restaurant. Do you want the same as usual?”

Lory smiled and nodded. When I got back home with the food, Lory had set down the plates and our drinks. “I love Saturday.”

Lory chuckled, “No, you love weekends, and me.”

I nodded, “Don’t forget food.” The rest of the day was not very exciting. We went to bed late, we put numerous hours into this new game. I am glad that Lory liked it this much. It was a good investment. The story was alright, the main characters were fun. The wolf girl, a human, some kind of demon and an Insect who traveled the lands to stop some kind of evil god. The standard story, boy meets girl, boy and girl find friends, party kills god with the power of love and friendship. You should not underestimate the power of love. Gods do it, and they always die in these games.

A whole week passed, Lory did her job and earned us money, I had been waiting for that email. It had not arrived yet. If it isn’t in the mail next Friday, I need to give them a call. We had talked more about our wedding, we had decided that eloping would fit us best. We need an ordained minister, and someone to take photographs. A few more days passed, and on Wednesday I finally got the email I had been waiting for. Lory is in our salon working at this moment. I read through the mail.

You are a perfect match for our team, we want you to pump out two news articles of our choosing. These will appear in our weekly newspaper that we send out on each Monday. The coming Monday, you will receive the two items that you need to write about. Send these in before the next Friday at 12 PM.

I walked over to our salon and walked inside, Lory was giving a new haircut to a young man. She looked at me and smiled, “Hey Steve, what is going on?”

“I finally got the mail, I got the job.”

“That is awesome honey, we can celebrate after I am done with work.”

The young man gave me a thumbs up, “Awesome dude.”

I scratched the back of my head, “Thanks.”

Lory chuckled, “You made him uncomfortable.”

He laughed, “I do that sometimes.”

I kept on scratching my head, “I will be cooking dinner tonight, what do you want, my love?”

“I am in the mood for something celebratory. Why don’t you pick up some steaks from the local supermarket?”

“Alright, what side dish do you want?”

She smiled, “Pasta.”

“Say no more, see you soon, Lory.” She waved at me. I went to get the car keys and my jacket.

I picked up the steaks, and some pasta in the local supermarket, including some coffee and other items we needed. After coming back, I prepared our dinner. Lory ate her steak well cooked, I did not like it at all. Mine barely got cooked. I chuckled at that thought, with her being a part wolf, you would expect it the other way around.

Lory came into the room, “Hello there, it smells delicious, I just need to freshen up.”

“Alright, see you soon, darling.” As she walked to the bedroom, I checked out her tail. Yeah, something might be wrong with me. Soon our dinner had been prepared and I put it on the dinner table. Lory walked into the room in her blue nightgown. She once told me, she likes those since it does not need a hole for her tail, allowing a sense of freedom. It must also be the reason she likes to wear dresses. When it gets cold outside, she wears jeans, but she made me cut holes into them for her tail.

As we started eating, Lory spoke up, “If we have a baby, what would you name it.”

“I have not really thought about it. Do you have any suggestions?”

Lory nodded, “I was thinking about the name Haley if it is a girl. What do you think?”

I slowly nodded, “Yeah, that sounds, good. Do I need to write it down?”

Lory laughed, “I will remember it.”

I took a bite from my steak, “And what if it is a boy?”

“What about Harvey?”

“Yeah, but isn’t that more a name for a dog?”

Lory shook her head, “I don’t think so.”

I took a sip from my water, “I guess, it could use some fine-tuning, but I like the direction you are thinking.”

Lory smiled, “Thank you for being honest.”

I took another bite of my steak, “Why do you ask this now, Lory?” I started chewing while looking at her.

She let out a sly smile, “I am late.” I started choking on my steak.

Lory stood up and walked over to pat me on my back, hard. Until I stopped choking. “Timing honey, timing. Not when I am chewing.”

She giggled, “Sorry for that.”

“No worries, did you buy a pregnancy test yet?”

“No, I wanted to tell you first.”

I nodded, “I can pick one up tomorrow if you think I need to.”

Lory sat down and pushed my water towards me. “Yes please.”

I took a sip from my water and nodded. “I will do that, my love. It is quite handy, currently you like thoroughly cooked steak.”

Lory looked at the last bit of her steak, “Yeah, now that you mention it.”

I took her hand, “I would be thrilled if we would get a little munchkin.”

Lory smiled, “Munchkin, I like that word.”
