SR Chapter 81: Mysterious Woman

SR Chapter 81: Mysterious Woman

Elijah would be lying if he said he wasn’t a little intimidated when he saw the forces arrayed against him. However, by clinging to his arrogance, Elijah was able to calmly and confidently walk down the hill. He was the supreme ruler, so he needed to act like it, and more importantly, he needed the foxes to believe it.

From the moment Elijah realized he was dealing with an intelligent enemy he had the desire to bring them under his rule. Yes, Elijah didn’t really have the goblins under control and his relationship with Kento’s clan wasn’t the strongest. However, that wasn’t enough to dissuade Elijah from bringing another group under his rule.

Honestly, Elijah never questioned if the foxes would be willing to be under his rule. After all he’s the supreme ruler, destined to rule over all things. It only made sense for them to become his followers.

Before he reached the foxes, Elijah took a glance at his status, adjusted his storage bag and made sure his Supreme Will talent was ready to protect him. Of course, Elijah was always experiencing the passive effects of his Supreme Will talent like he did with his Supreme Eyes talent. However, by actively focusing on the talent Elijah could strengthen his belief and mental defense. If the foxes used any mental attacks, Elijah’s Supreme Will would immediately defend him and launch a potent counterattack.

“Hello everyone,” Elijah said. He greeted the foxes with an arrogant smile and a polite nod. “I’m the Chief of the villagers you captured. I don’t know why you’ve taken my people, but I’m sure it’s just a small misunderstanding. That’s why I came here alone without any warriors. Now, after you release my people, I would be more than willing to sit down and have a polite discussion with all of you.”

No response. The foxes silently stared at Elijah after he finished giving his speech. A few of their gazes were hostile, but the majority seemed indifferent or curious.

“Staring contest, huh,” Elijah thought to himself. “Fine by me. This happens to be my favorite game.”

“I’m relieved to hear that. It would be shame if a permanent enmity was created from a small misunderstanding.”

Before Elijah could begin using his talent, his train of thought was interrupted by the most wonderful voice he ever heard. Less than a second later, Elijah saw the foxes make way for a woman to step forward. She was the most beautiful woman Elijah ever saw.

Piercing blue eyes, luscious snow-white hair and flawless milky skin. The blue and white dress she wore clung to the curves of her body. There were two slits cut in the dress that started around her mid-thigh and went down to her ankles. This allowed Elijah to view her beautiful legs as she gracefully walked toward him.

“Greetings.” The woman stopped in front of Elijah and spoke with a smile on her face. “You can call me Lady Snow. May I have your name?”

“My, my name?” Elijah had a dazed look on his face.

“Yes,” the woman laughed. “You do have one don’t you.”

An enchanting laugh. A dazzling smile. Elijah’s defeat was unavoidable. Luckily, this was only the first battle of the war.

Elijah looked away and coughed a few times out of embarrassment. Doing so he missed the flash of disdain that appeared in Lady Snow’s eyes. Eventually, Elijah gathered himself and was somewhat able to speak to Snow while maintaining eye contact.

“Ahem, my name is Elijah, I mean Eli and you can call me Chief, or supreme ruler.”

“Oh my, supreme ruler is a powerful title, but I think it’s very suitable. I can see you have the potential to become a powerful ruler. Your name will definitely be known throughout the world.”

Other people would have taken Snow’s words as obvious flattery. Elijah on the other hand felt like Snow had truly seen his greatness and acknowledged his position as the supreme ruler. Although he felt like there was something off about her words, he ignored that feeling because he liked what he heard. This marked Elijah’s second loss.

“Hehe, you’re right,” Elijah laughed foolishly. “I’m someone destined to rule over all things.”

“Well, it wouldn’t be right to talk to someone of your status out here in the open. Follow me and I will take you to an area that’s more private.”

Without waiting for Elijah’s response, Lady Snow turned and started walking in the direction she came from. Elijah didn’t mind and happily followed the beautiful woman with bright eyes. The tier one foxes followed after them in a way that blocked off all of Elijah’s paths for retreat.

Of course, Elijah didn’t pay attention to the foxes behind him. All of his attention was focused on the woman in front of him. He admired her slender back, the way her hair was braided into a ponytail, and of course, the way her hips swayed as she walked.

“Like what you see.”

Elijah looked up and saw Lady Snow’s head turned to the side, giving him a knowing smile. Elijah felt his body heat up from embarrassment, a feeling he hadn’t experienced much recently. Before Elijah could stammer out a reply, Snow continued to speak.

“The moment I saw this valley I knew it was a great place to stay. The trees provide plenty of shade but doesn’t stop the sunlight from getting through. The plants, flowers and tall grass create a beautiful scenery, provide nutritious food, and a place for the little ones to hide and play. Also, there are a few streams further in for fresh water.”

“Yeah, of course,” Elijah hastily agreed. “It definitely looks great.”

Lady Snow directed Elijah’s gaze to his surroundings with her words and a few simple gestures. At first, Elijah quickly responded to her to counteract the embarrassment he felt. However, as he studied his surroundings Elijah began to admire its beauty.

Vibrant green grass grew tall under the large trees overflowing with life energy. Flowers of various colors were in bloom emitting a wonderful scent that wasn’t a burden to Elijah’s enhanced senses. Also, Elijah saw the heads of a few normal sixed foxes peeking out of the grass.

With his Supreme Eyes talent, the way Elijah viewed the world was different form the average person. Under his gaze there were some slight changes to what was beautiful and ugly. The scenery around him was the second most beautiful thing he saw since he obtained his talent. Obviously the first was the woman in front of him.

“It’s good that you like it,” Lady Snow replied. “If your territory continues to develop, then this place will be yours in the future. Are you familiar with how territories grow?

“Yes, I am and you’re right, but I have no problem letting you and… your people, make this place your home.”

“Well then, on behalf of my people allow me to thank you in advance.”

Elijah nodded as he followed behind Lady Snow with a thoughtful expression on his face. The previous exchange made him realize that he forgot to ask about how his people were doing. However, before he asked that question there was another question he wanted answered first.

“You, said your people. So, you’re a fox too, right?” As Elijah spoke, he looked at her rear for an inappropriate amount of time, before he quickly retuned his gaze to the back of her head when she started speaking.

“Oh, why do you ask?” Lady Snow asked without turning her head. “Do you not like people from other races?”

“No, no, of course not. It’s just that you look like a human, but you also have some fox features. When you called the foxes your people, it made me think that you’re either a human with a fox bloodline or maybe a fox with a human bloodline.”

“That’s good to hear,” Lady Snow flashed a smile at Elijah, as she continued walking forward. “It would be a shame if you were the type of ruler that looked down on people from other races. When I heard that you turned some goblins into slaves I was worried about the safety of my people.”

Once again, Elijah felt like there was something off about her words, but he ignored that feeling and focused on reassuring the woman about the slavery issue. “Al though I have turned the goblins into slaves I never treated them harshly or unfairly. Also, my goal was, and still is, to make them official free members of my territory.”

“I’m sure you have your reasons for what you did,” Lady Snow calmly replied. “I would love to hear more about it once we arrive at our destination. If you look ahead, you can see that were almost there.”

Looking ahead Elijah could see a clearing and in that clearing there seemed to be a wall of vines. Elijah didn’t pay too much attention to what was ahead. He gave a verbal acknowledgment and focused on organizing his thoughts on slavery. Suddenly a thought entered his mind.

“Hey, I don’t think you properly answered my question,” Elijah said. “You never told me if you were human or not.”

“Oh, that,” Snow casually replied. “Of course, I’m a fox. Not a drop of human blood in me.”

“But that can’t be true,” Elijah said with confusion in his voice and on his face. “I heard that…” Elijah wanted to say beast, but he paused because he didn’t know if that was disrespectful. “I heard that you can’t take human form before the third tier and only some geniuses can do it in the second. Based on your current level you…”

Once again, Elijah paused when he realized he didn’t know Lady Snow level. When he first saw her, the first thing he focused on was her beauty, but that wasn’t a big deal. Although he was a little late to the party, all he had to do was take a quick peak and…
