“Chief, what’s wrong?”
Justin asked this question when he saw Elijah frozen in place. Elijah was looking at the goblin squirming on the ground using its eyes to beg for mercy. Elijah was stunned by the notification he received. If it wasn’t for Justin questioning him, Elijah would have continued to stare at the squirming goblin for some time.
“The goblin asked to be my subordinate.”
“What? When?”
“Just now. I’m going to accept it as a follower. Be ready to kill it if anything strange happens.”
Congratulations! You have gained the People’s Language talent.

“Thank you for showing mercy master. I swear I will listen to everything you say. I’ll kill anyone you tell me to. I’ll give you, my food. I-”
After Elijah selected yes, he received the People’s Language talent. He was happy to find out he could understand what the goblin was saying and could get some information about other goblins. Elijah tuned out the goblin that was desperately trying to show its allegiance as he tried to see if there were any more changes that came from accepting the goblin as his subordinate. Sadly, there weren’t any.
“Quiet,” Elijah commanded. Immediately the goblin stopped speaking.
“What happened? Is it your subordinate now?” Justin asked.
Elijah nodded his head in response. He thought about making the other two goblins submit to him as well. However, when Elijah turned his head, he saw the corpses of the two goblins on the ground. With a sigh, Elijah faced the goblin and began questioning it.
“What is your name?”
When Elijah spoke, he did so in the goblin’s tongue. It felt strange. One reason was because of the way his mouth and vocal cords moved to make him sound like a goblin. Another reason was the fact that his mouth and vocal cords changed without his conscious decision. Initially he forgot to focus on using the goblin language, yet he still spoke the language any way.
“I don’t have a name. I wasn’t given one.”
For a moment, Elijah considered giving the goblin a name. However, he realized that there was a good chance that he would probably kill it in the future, and you shouldn’t name something you might have to kill. Mentally he identified the goblin as Goblin One.
“Why did the goblins come to this area of the forest? What are they searching for?”
“We’re searching for a magic pillar,” Goblin One replied. “Leader said the object should be in this area, but he doesn’t know where. Were supposed to work hard at finding the magic pillar, but we haven’t worked hard because the leader said he will find it soon on his own.”
As Goblin One answered Elijah’s question, Elijah thought that something felt off, but he didn’t know what it was. Elijah asked Goblin One to give him more information about the magic pillar they were searching for. When Goblin One finished giving Elijah a more in-depth description about the magic pillar, Elijah’s eyes widened in alarm. Goblin One had described the broken pillar in the village that improved his cultivation speed.
“Who told you about the pillar? When did you find out about it? What do you know about it? What abilities does it have? How long will it take your leader to find it?”
“I, I, I-” Goblin One struggled to answer the barrage of questions Elijah gave it.
“Answer me!”
“Chief, what’s wrong?” Justin asked
Elijah told Justin about the information he received from Goblin One. Justin’s face showed that he felt the same alarm that Elijah did. Justin began asking Elijah several question, but Elijah held up his hand to stop him. Elijah didn’t have any answers yet, but Goblin One was about to continue speaking.
Goblin One started answering Elijah’s question by explaining how they found out about the magic pillar. A team of goblins entered a dungeon and came out with a magic item. The magic item contained information about an inheritance dungeon and its general location.
Initially the goblins didn’t understand the importance of an inheritance dungeon. However, the goblin leader received a quest that would let him establish a true territory for the goblins to live in. This was a big deal for the goblins since they did not officially have a territory to rule over.
Seizing the opportunity, they had been granted, the goblin leader gathered all of the goblins under its command and marched toward the magic pillar. The entire group traveled for weeks before they arrived at this part of the forest, but they sent a few smaller groups ahead of the main group that managed to arrive earlier. Overtime the goblin leader was able to get a better read on where the magic pillar was, and he would have the exact location in a few days.
“Do you know the exact number of days?” Elijah asked.
“No, not really.
“Do you know how many goblins are their altogether?
Once again, Goblin One’s answer was no. Elijah was frustrated with the lack of information he received from the goblin. Enemies were at their door and Elijah had no idea how many there were. Yes, Elijah had a quest telling him how many goblins he had to kill, but he didn’t know if he was killing the advance group or the main group.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
“Could you find out where the other groups of goblins are?”
“Yes, I can find them,” Goblin One responded in an eager tone.
“Finally, some good news.”
Turning to Justin, Elijah shared the information he obtained so far. Justin was alarmed and had several questions. Some questions Elijah was able to answer, other questions required him to question the goblin before answering and there were a few questions that nobody could answer.
Once Justin had most his questions answered he suggested they make some changes to the plan they made earlier. Elijah agreed and the two of them spent some more time talking. At some point during their discussion Justin asked Elijah an important question.
“How certain are you that the goblin can be trusted? Our plan will fail, and we will lose our lives if the goblin betrays us.”
Justin’s words made Elijah remember the warning given to him by his future self. Although Fallen Heaven was a game, Elijah would be harming himself if he didn’t treat it like real life. For example, although the villagers accepted Elijah as their chief, there was nothing stopping them from killing him tomorrow. The same could be said for the goblin that submitted to him.
Turning to Goblin One Elijah did his best to give it a cold glare. He wanted to make Goblin One feel like he was moments away from death. Elijah didn’t know how effective his stare would be on a human, but Goblin One looked terrified.
“If you can’t convince me that I can trust you, then I will have no choice but to kill you. Right. Now.”
Elijah meant every word. Goblin One had given them the important information they needed, and its death wouldn’t cause them to lose anything. Keeping Goblin One alive had a greater potential to harm the group and it was Elijah’s job to protect his people from such harms.
Without any change to his expression, Elijah continued to glare at Goblin One. He could see the terror in the goblins eyes and listened to it beg, but his stance did not change. The goblin only begged for a minute before it let out a sigh, raised one hand in the air and put his other hand over his heart.
“I swear to the heavens that I will never harm you.”
Rumble
Elijah heard thunder rumbling above him. Instinctively, he looked up, but he only saw the ceiling of the cavern. The thunder lasted for a few seconds. Elijah had a hunch as to what the source of the thunder was, but he wasn’t certain until he heard Justin speak.
“Did he make a heavenly oath?” Justin asked.
Correct, Goblin One made a heavenly oath. When someone swore to the heavens, they would be punished by the heavens if they broke their word. Of course, the heavens weren’t invincible. Powerful cultivators could avoid or resist the heavens punishment. This was information provided to Elijah by his future self. However, this was the first time Elijah experienced someone swearing a heavenly oath, so he wasn’t one hundred percent certain.
“The heavenly oath isn’t absolute, but I doubt this little goblin would dare to go against it.” Elijah told Justin.
“Good, then we shouldn’t have any problems.” Justin responded.
“If there’s nothing else, I’m going to go work on my cultivation.”
“Don’t push yourself too much. It will be embarrassing if you have to be carried around through the forest because you trained too much.”
Elijah walked away from Justin and found himself a spacious area in the cavern to cultivate. He took a few minutes to adjust his mind before he began practicing his cultivation technique. Elijah went through all of the movements of his technique and made sure they were completed as flawlessly as possible. When he finished Elijah focused the astral energy, he absorbed passed his skin an into his muscles. Nourishing them and tempering them.

Elijah was a cultivation machine. No, he wasn’t a machine, he was a drug addict. He was addicted to cultivation and currently he was experiencing the ultimate high.
Reaching the fourth stage of the Supreme Ruler cultivation technique increased Elijah’s proficiency to ninety five percent. This increased the amount of energy Elijah was able to absorb and it improved his ability to perform the movement for his cultivation technique.
When Elijah performed the movements for his cultivation technique he felt like a martial arts expert. He didn’t have the knowledge or combat experience that a true martial arts expert would have. However, he did have a level of control and understanding of his body that a normal person could never experience. Each punch, kick, step, twist, and turn allowed him to obtain a more intimate connection with his body. The experience was euphoric, and Elijah didn’t want it to end.
As Elijah cultivated, he guided energy into his skin and muscles. Once his muscle was fully saturated and strengthened, he guided energy into his tendons. Once he finished with his tendons he worked on his bones and once he was done with his bone, he could…Woah.
Elijah forcefully pulled himself out of the wonderful state he was in. He realized that he didn’t receive a notification telling him to stop like he did the first time. The most likely reason was that he hadn’t reached his limit, but Elijah felt like that answer was too good to be true. Elijah decided to play it safe and end his cultivation session.
Besides Elijah had been cultivating for a long time and it should almost be time to leave. He didn’t know how long he had been cultivating, but it was definitely more than an hour. Focusing on his surroundings Elijah saw the five players and all the warriors standing nearby, watching him.
“Dude be honest with us,” Tyler said. “Are you hacking?”
