SR Chapter 35: Unique

Jenny ran into the communal building with a frantic look in her eyes. Her hair and clothes were in disarray. Jenny panted as she jogged toward Elijah and started examining him.

“I can sense that your body is overflowing with vitality. Physically, I can’t see anything wrong with you. However, I can’t say the same thing for your mins. There is no problem with the quantity of your mental energy, but I sense a slight decrease in the quality. While I don’t sense any hidden dangers, I suggest that you don’t do anything that requires you to push yourself mentally. I’ll prepare some tea that is beneficial to the mind. You should drink some now, and some more before you go to bed.”

Elijah smiled while he stood still and let Jenny poke and prod him. An elder had found Jenny and asked her to check on Eli. For Jenny mental injuries were very difficult to heal. She didn’t waste any time and immediately came to check on Elijah.

Obviously, Elijah was happy about the concern that his villagers had for him. It showed that the villagers were starting to or already saw him as one of their own. All the hard work he put in over the last few days wasn’t wasted.

Jenny quickly prepared the tea for Elijah. She handed him a small wooden cup filled with hot green liquid. The tea had a refreshing scent and tasted better than it smelled.

You have drunk Calming Tea

Your mind has entered a calm state. Mental recovery increased by 25% for the next 10 minutes.

Normally, Elijah didn’t drink tea. In fact, he didn’t even like it. However, many things that were unenjoyable in the real world became enjoyable in Fallen Heaven.

For the next few minutes, Elijah sipped his tea and mentally reviewed the battle of wills he fought. He still planned to discuss the battles with Elder Jeb, but he wanted to take advantage of the special state his mind was currently in to review what he recently experienced on his own. Elijah took the next ten minutes to properly review and solidify the understanding he obtained about using willpower.

The tea worked very well. In fact, the tea worked so well that Elijah wondered why he never drank it before. It would be the perfect thing to drink after the spars he had with Elder Jeb.

Perhaps the village had a limited amount of the plants needed for making the tea. Another reason was that the tea became less effective the more a person consumed it. Elijah decided to ask Elder Jeb about it once the duration of the tea’s effects passed.

After the ten minutes elapsed, Elijah began his discussion with Elder Jeb. Jenny stayed around for a few more minutes to make sure Elijah was okay. Once she was satisfied, she quietly excused herself and left the communal area.

Elijah and Elder Jeb’s discussion didn’t last for too long. Once they were done talking Elder Jeb went to rest and suggested that Elijah do the same. Elijah agreed and said he would get some rest.

Sike! What Elijah actually did was go cultivate. Of course, Elder Jeb reminded him to take it easy since Elijah was still recovering. However, Elijah wasn’t worried and didn’t give Elder Jeb’s words much weight.

When Elijah stopped the endless battles against the goblins, he did feel a little tired. However, that tired feeling disappeared after he finished drinking the tea Jenny prepared for him. Since he didn’t feel like there was anything wrong with him, he decided to not waste time with unnecessary rest.

Currently, Elijah’s cultivation level was the Late Organ Tempering stage. Also known as level thirty-four. Elijah decided to cultivate by the village core. Once he arrived Elijah adjusted himself physically and mentally before he started cultivating.

You have received -1 damage.

You have received -1 damage.

You have received -1 damage.

The first cultivation session went well. The last time Elijah cultivated he lost ten health points. The reason Elijah lost health points was because the process for tempering his organs was different than when he tempered the other parts of his body.

Normally, Elijah simply focused on guiding astral energy into the part of the body he wanted to strengthen. The movements he performed while cultivating stimulated his body and mind. This brought them both into the perfect state to absorb astral energy and become stronger.

When Elijah tempered his organs, he needed to absorb astral energy with his blood and then use his blood to temper his organs. Blood was a physical substance while astral energy was not. It was all too easy for Elijah to damage his organs when he tempered them with a physical substance. The only time Elijah wasn’t injured when he tempered his organs was when he automatically leveled up from breaking his limits.

Elijah didn’t truly know he needed to temper his internal organs this way. According to his future self, this was necessary due to the inherent nature of his internal organs. Nobody else had to do this, but he would have to for his organs, senses, and meridians. Oh, and Elijah didn’t receive any additional stats or other benefits for this unique cultivation method.

When Elijah reviewed the memories he received about cultivation, he immediately thought it was bullshit. However, Elijah knew it wasn’t wise to start second guessing the guidebook that was created for him by his future self. Elijah may not understand why it was necessary to cultivate like this now, but he was certain he would reap some benefits in the future.

Once Elijah had that thought in his mind, he took extra time to carefully go over the unique tempering method. Speeding through the process would leave him with a poor understanding and he would be unable to properly apply the unique tempering method to his physique in real life. The last thing he wanted was to see his real physique damaged because he was eager to level up in Fallen Heaven.

After several cultivation sessions, Elijah managed to bring his cultivation to the Peak Organ Tempering stage. During that process Elijah managed to reduce the amount of health he lost to one point each cultivation session. Also, Elijah reached the next stage in his cultivation technique.

Elijah decided to rest after he reached level thirty-five. He could keep going, but he understood that he should take a slow and steady approach to the unique path he was walking. Instead, Elijah sat on the ground and stared at his unawaken village core.

Quest: Awaken the Core

Description: Every territory has a core. The core for your village is currently in an unawaken state. To awaken the core and truly take control of your village, provide it with astral energy. Astral Energy 100,000/100,000

Rewards: Unique

Penalties: Unable to grow your village

There were no more obstacles in the way of Elijah awakening his village. When he first achieved the acquired astral energy Elijah excitedly rushed to complete the quest. However, in the process of completing his quest, Elijah received another message.

There is an ownerless village core (damaged) within the boundary of your territory. You can fuse this ownerless core with your own village core to receive greater benefits during its awakening. Do you wish to fuse the ownerless core? Yes, or no?

Due to the ownerless core being damaged, you will not receive the full benefits of the fusion. It is recommended that you restore the damage core before you proceed with the fusion. Will you cancel or proceed with the fusion?

Obviously, Elijah didn’t proceed with the fusion. Normally it would make sense to proceed with the fusion instead of wasting time and energy trying to figure out a way to fix the damaged core. Luckily for Elijah, there happened to be a kind person that was bringing him the item he needed to restore the ownerless core.

With a smile full of confidence toward the future Elijah decide it was time to log out. The goblins should arrive at the village’s front gates within two or three days. After he defeated them, he could officially establish his village and take another step further along his path as a ruler.
