Evan was in front of everyone and had to start explaining who he was and had to get all the courage he could muster to explain what was going on and who he had been. After all, if this world had any part of the knowledge of the best adventurers of Dawn World... Evan, the black flame devil, would be a known villain or, in the best situation, an Anti-Hero.
“First, I must say who I am, truly. I am the reincarnated soul of an otherworldly adventurer... A master of necromancy, dark magic, and fire magic. I used the two pinnacle skills of necromancy, Create soul and Create corpse, to create a group of new entities called Homunculus. Four of them.” Evan explained as he took a deep breath.
Flint looked at Evan, not believing what he said, and his tone sounded sarcastic, due to him having to come to terms with what Evan said. Mostly because if it was true, then the boy he was seeing was someone to be respected for his inhuman powers. Also, because the PR done against Evan was like being called the worst person in the world with enough proof to handle all the reasonable doubts, and so he was extremely hated.
“And now he will say that he is the soul of the otherworldly black flame devil! Seriously…” Flint said as he couldn’t believe what Evan was saying, still sweating after running for three quarters of hour from Lillian.
Legias looked annoyed at Flint, because this entire conversation was bugging him off. Mostly because Flint and Legias were like best friends, but just like the best of friends they mess with each other on the daily basis.
“Your intuition is better these days, Flint. Last time, you thought that Zerana’s favorite iron ball was a soccer ball.” Legias said with a smirk on his face.
Evan chuckled while looking at Flint, knowing that Flint wouldn’t believe it if he didn’t truly say it once more. At times like that one, Evan felt like instead of convincing… He just had to reiterate the point one more time, and then drop the subject.
“Indeed. I am Evan, also known as the black flame devil, creator of the four Homunculus and one of the heavenly four. Killed by my own parents. Ironical, isn't it?” Evan informed calmly, as he would have given up a few undead only to be able to drink wine in this embarrassing situation. ‘Explaining my time in Dawn World is so embarrassing and edgy… I would have preferred to have Legias explaining it…’ Evan thought to himself, trying to avoid showing his embarrassment.
Legias nodded while looking extremely happy at Evan, knowing that he wasn’t that much different from who was supposed to be his grandfather. And knowing that Evan wouldn’t betray him like his sister and father did, which was a huge relief for him.
“Extremely. Specially if you think that the Homunculus treated you like their own father.” Legias said as he chuckled a bit.
Evan quickly raised his arms while smiling widely, knowing that he needed to avoid repeating what Legias said. After all, it would be suspicious to try to convince the others fervently.
“You said it, not me!” Evan exclaimed as he took a deep breath.
Legias took the words of Evan as a simple interjection, and it made him chuckle. The young elf felt the desire to share what his mother usually said to him, and he couldn’t hold his excitement.
“Mother was always like: If Father saw me having two children! He would be nettled.” Legias said as he looked happy of being around.
Evan chuckled while lowering his arms, and looking rather happy while keeping an eye on every single person on the room to check their emotions. Everything seemed like the others were in shock, so he knew that everything had gone exactly as expected.
“And that Legadonia got killed has me absolutely livid! If you understand it.” Evan admitted as he looked around, while trying to hold back his angry.
Legias noticed how Evan kept an eye on the facial expressions of every single child, and so he noticed that Evan was keeping his own anger inside. With that piece of information, Legias knew that he had to make sure the children noticed his wrath.
“Yes. So angry that you would deep-fry the bastard that killed her.” Legias said with a cold voice.
This phrasing made the children gasp, well unless Zerana who had dozed off a bit and was in a good route to the land of dreams, while Evan tried to keep a faint smile in his face.
“And make some tempura of him. Or her in case of a woman. What? I am not that evil to not consider it could be a woman. That’s stupid evil, not my thing.” Evan said as his demonic smile appeared.
Flint was clearly lost in the conversation, too much information for him to understand and also that he never was good at keeping track with stories. Just like most dwarves after being taught a modified story that enhanced the patriotism of the young dwarves, that is until they noticed the truth just like in Flint's case.
Also, that finding out that Evan wasn't evil made him have a headache worthy of a drunken dwarf, which literally was enough to knock out anyone that was still breathing.
“But Legias... Your mother was Guinevere, not Legadonia. Am I right? Because this goes against the stories of the black Flame devil.” Flint pointed out as he noticed that difference.
This made Legias sigh, and decided to explain to Flint everything in a simple sentence because he was sure that otherwise he would get lost again. This, clearly surprised Flint because for him it was a revelation that explained everything he wasn't understanding.
“Wrong. Legadonia's alias is Guinevere. She went into hiding. And I know it because she told me and gave me her diary.” Legias explained as he showed the diary.
“So this is why you know that he is saying the truth.” Flint said, looking surprised by the diary he had never seen.
Evan felt like now was the perfect time to put say what he needed now without sounding desperate about it. A thing about power is that no one would follow a person with a desperation like the one he had due to the wounds he had.
“Yes. Now, I want to find one of my Homunculus. Grandine. She can restore my body.” Evan said as he looked at his body. ‘Also, hopefully she can make sure I don’t have any congenital issues due to using a corpse. It’d be annoying to be struck down with that kind of issue because the nobles loved to get fancy with their families.’ Evan considered as he knew how medieval families used to be.
Rose looked at Evan, with a worried and nervous look due to the fact that Evan was regarded as the worst fiend alive. Even when compared to the goddess of Darkness, Namika.
“But how we are going to find her?” Rose asked nervously.
Evan felt worry about sharing this kind of information with children, but it wasn’t the time to be picky about allies. So he took a deep breath, waited a bit to make sure that no one interrupted him, and talked.
“Grandine has two weaknesses. Her taste for men and her love for irony. And we know how she looks like.” Evan explained as he took a deep breath.
Lilian started doubting about something, or someone in particular that clearly could fit into what Evan had just said. But if her fears were right, she would have an even bigger trouble than she had even expected.
“Which are her weaknesses exactly?” Lillian asked, squinting her eyes.
Evan chuckled, knowing the irony that Grandine herself truly was, and prepared to explain the weaknesses of his most debauched daughter who inherited his cunning more than his viciousness. Unlike other childrens, like Sumeragi or Ruby, Grandine was extremely pragmatic and sought to help the family while also ensuring she could enjoy four meals each day.
“She wants to prey on men who are innocent, believe strongly on monogamy and usually work in a church. And that she has long blonde hair, blue eyes and a figure that is way too much for some men.” Evan replied, as he was a bit embarrassed of how he had made Grandine. But well, that was the thing about being a succubus after all.
“I know someone who has the three physical similarities.” Lillian said as she looked worried for a moment. ‘Also, she’s so much into cute boys and in hooking me up with some of them.’ Lillian thought to herself, trying to hide her blushing face.
“The three sizes that she has are 90-60-90.” Evan said as he blushed slightly out of having said this outloud.
Flint looked at Evan, clearly disappointed at him because those proportions were too exact and he preferred that the curves were a bit smaller than what they should be. One of the things he learned from the adult dwarves, which made him feel conflicted feelings of disappointment in those dwarves and pride of being taller than most dwarves.
“Some men call it the ideal proportion. Did you make it like that on purpose?” Flint asked as he looked Evan with clear disappointment.
“I did somewhat make it like that on purpose. Mostly to make her life easier. But then, her diet was prepared to improve her curves even further. Don’t make me explain how succubus physiology works, you are too young for that.” Evan replied as he looked away from Flint’s gaze. ‘I am not going to say I was going to do 99-69-99 just for a joke.’ Evan thought to himself.
Lillian looked surprised at Evan, clearly noticing who could be Grandine, and got extremely nervous because that person was one of the greatest backers of Cherubs Rest which meant that even if she had not helped Evan, she would be in this mess either way.
“Then I might know who might be. Her name is Caroline. She is the archbishop.” Lillian said as she blushed brightly, trying to not think about the many coincidences and the fact that archbishop had managed to trick all the church into believing she was a human.
“And?” Evan asked as he raised his eyebrows.
“There are rumours about her being... a promiscuous woman. Extremely promiscuous, even for a nun of Zerax.” Lillian said as she was red-faced of the embarrassment of sharing those rumors she considered filth until today, and then looked at the ground to try to hide her face.
Evan started thinking, and after two minutes of intense meditation, he smiled like a demon. He had found Grandine, the irony of being a succubus and the archbishop were too sweet to avoid. It was like making a hot dog and not adding spicy sauce or pico de gallo sauce on it, a lost opportunity that you would never see again.
“Too many similarities between them. And the glorious irony of a succubus being an archbishop... That would be too much for her.” Evan said as he smiled like a demon.
“I see... What a relief…” Lillian said sarcastically, since that would mean that her biggest backer was a succubus.
“Too much for her to dodge. I will visit Caroline. Either way, if she is an archbishop she should have mastered the Bishop skills. So even if it’s not Grandine, which I would doubt, I can still get the heal.” Evan said, as he thought of having a basic amount of caution just in case Lillian was mistaken.
Vivienne nodded, having clearly understood what was going on but she was still extremely skeptical of Evan.
“Either way, you get what you are looking for.” Vivienne said while being skeptical of Evan’s intentions, since the stories said he had a massive stash of items he could use to repair his body.
“But first I will complete some quests of the tutorial seal. I want to be able to level up when I meet her.” Evan said, as he planned a path to take before going too crazy. Also, in worst case scenario, it would be better to have the seal weakened as much as possible.
“Understood.” Vivienne said, taking note of what Evan said. Especially the part of having a tutorial seal, which explained a lot of things she was skeptical about.
Evan kept explaining everything about how he died, just changing the information to turn it like his own parents defeated his 100% form because he allowed them to do so. It was not a lie because he truly allowed them to kill him but in his Dawn World form, he could have defeated them with a flick of his fingers.

Meanwhile, in the throne room, King David was angry. Kanbe and Saida had been defeated by an unknown kid... David was scared because by what they said of the kid, it seemed like his brother Edward was still alive and improved his magic spells to a point that he was a dual mage. It was a danger for him, knowing that if he was a dual mage with spells that weren’t his known affinities that would mean he was acquiring different affinities and possibly could become a danger for his desire of ruling without opposition.
A dual mage was extremely hard to find and an exceptional mage, only a 20% of the population could be a dual mage, a triple mage was a legend already even if it was a minor mage. And a master mage was something that even legends put in doubt and only existed a handful like Lady Caroline or Lady Guinevere.
And for that, the elven king paid a mage to kill her and that way later use Saida as a companion of the hero and ensure that he had someone who could be controlled in the hero party due to Saida being his daughter. That alone meant that Katas sought to acquire the political chip that Kanbe was, due to him being the hero rather than what he knew of a certain mercenary that was related to the hero.
But now Edward was alive, improved and protecting the only pebble that could foil the elven king plan and send him into an early grave. Which meant that Edward had no plans of making peace with him or Katas, and in fact would seek to take revenge for sending the assassin to kill him.
David was drinking a small cup of tea when he felt something like a hand made of vines grabbed his neck, yet this didn't surprise him at all. He and Caroline were at odds always, ever since he messed with Sumeragi's fiancee and accepted to help the elves to kill Legias.
“Lady Caroline. Why are you attacking me, the king?” David asked, as he was sweating due to the fear he had of being killed by the archbishop of the church of Zerax. ‘You shouldn’t attack a king, archbishop. Especially one who has as much importance as I have… So why are you doing this?’ David thought, trying to discern the reason behind this attack.
Then a tall woman, with porcelain skin, long blonde hair styled in a slightly wavy hairstyle, blue eyes, a motherly body with voluptuous curves that would attract any young man’s attention, and a large bosom that would make sure anyone wouldn’t take their eyes off them who was wearing a white short dress with golden engravings and the sigil of a golden sword on her stomach, paired with a pair of white stockings and white garter belt alongside a pair of golden platform heels of 18 inches. In her left hand, she had a golden staff with a cross that had in the center a glowing blue gem on the top part of the staff and all the guards were looking at her like those who see a supermodel walking around, unable to take off their eyes from here.

This woman looked extremely angry, and her rage couldn't be quelled easily. David knew that already, and in fact he did not care at all. For him, Caroline was the closest thing to a heretic that could have become an archbishop and that infuriated him to no bounds. That said, he had to deal with her for the moment but he was already imagining how she would look with a slave collar on her neck.
“You attacked Legias? Or it's that old jackass plan? Either way, the hero was there! What the hell is wrong with you!? If you keep pushing your luck, I will kill you myself. Still, seeing that maybe your brother is alive is great. But he has chosen a new name, no? No one wanted to tell me that new name.” Caroline said as she scowled, knowing clearly what David was thinking right now and being repulsed by said thoughts.
“The name of that unknown kid is Evan. Fits too much in the description of the black flame devil that was in the holy scriptures if weren't for the appearance that he has now.” David replied calmly. ‘Not like that monster would be around, or reincarnated. No god would be that crazy!’ David thought to himself, knowing the stories of the devil destroying countless villages.
Caroline for a moment stopped being angry, showing a sliver of joy in her face but quickly changed it for a more cold face that hid her emotions. She did want to keep her interest hidden from David’s foolish mind, to prevent putting her friend in troubles.
“Interesting. I think I will talk with Legias to find that Evan.” Caroline said as she pondered about the different routes she could take to handle this incident. 'Maybe Papa has come to this world too but only in his soul form. Or maybe he died and reincarnated here! That would be bad but seems that he may have his powers!' Caroline thought to herself, her excitement making her mind race like a wild horse.
Caroline released the king but smiled at him, yet this smile was more threatening than having a knife on your own neck. This alone made David shiver, but also made him smile because that also meant that he had somehow managed to mess with Caroline enough to make her fail in her attempt of hiding her emotions.
“Do not do any jackass act against Legias or any of the ones in the orphanage he is in. Or do you want to call the attention of the man who you stole his wife and her first time?” Caroline warned as she just scoffed while looking at the king, a thing that would have a few guards moving to aim at her with their swords for the insult towards the king with such rude remarks if wasn’t because Caroline was the archbishop of the church of Zerax and that meant she had enough power to handle all the guards stationed in the castle and more.
David got extremely angry the moment Caroline mentioned Sumeragi. He had tried to kill Sumeragi, but failed miserably and in fact he would never risk it again without having a squad of guards near him.
“Once I catch that bastard, I will skin him!” David exclaimed enraged by Caroline’s provocation, to which the archbishop simply chuckled.
“Good luck with that.” Caroline said as she strutted out of the room. 'I am here to make sure that you can't and for ironical reasons. The best reasons. Now, I should go to find that cute stable boy back on the outskirts of the city and go on a date with him.' Caroline thought to herself as she licked her lips, as she looked forward to that date and the possibility of having a good meal.
As she strutted across the hallways of the castle, which had white marble flooring with black crosses made of the same material and yellow stone walls that made it seem golden, she found many individuals that were cleaning the floor wearing maid or butler uniforms alongside a sturdy steel collar on their necks.
‘There are more slaves each day, and most are maids or butlers. David’s arrogance clearly has no bounds, he thinks he can just go with that one’s stupid plan of mass enslavement of the commoners without ruining his country. How uncouth. I should check on Niko now that I think about it. They clearly messed up, or that, or they were stopping a bigger threat that David doesn’t know. If it’s the second option, might as well set something to win more time and ensure that Dad is back. After all, I didn’t go to such lengths to get scammed. Not like I need Dad, but things would be easier with him around…’ Caroline thought to herself as she moved along the hallways, and arrived to a massive hall where all kinds of individuals moved around and walked near several desks placed on the sides of the hall.
That hall was the entrance to the castle, but also where everyone paid their monthly taxes. It was a cutthroat way to ensure that no one escaped paying taxes, since everyone who entered inside the castle was cataloged by mages who used analysis spells to ascertain the true identity of the individual and make a list of those who entered inside the castle and those who paid their tax.
Those mages couldn’t be detected even by Caroline, as they held items that concealed their mana and their presence, which meant that they could be anywhere checking her out. But that didn’t bother Caroline, since the mages were strictly forbidden from ever analysing her as she was the archbishop of the church of Zerax.
Being the archbishop meant that Caroline was the formal representative of the church of Zerax at all times, and that her words had to be very precise since they carried the weight of the entire church. A wrong word coming out of her mouth could start a holy war with any nation, even a small ‘What are you looking, heretical being!?’ could cause a holy war, but Caroline made sure to avoid speaking more than what she had to unless it was in a friendly situation.
Also, this meant that if someone analyzed Caroline… Well, it would mean that the kingdom didn’t trust the church of Zerax and would believe that they would try to dupe the archbishop to avoid wasting the archbishop’s time. This could easily enrage the church, alongside the archbishop and the pope, and trigger a war in which Elstivia would be alone to fend for itself against monsters and the church of Zerax as no one in the world would go against the religion with the highest amount of followers in the world.
Any king or queen who would go against the church of Zerax would have to face the discontent of the citizens that believed in the church and that could easily become a massive civil war on its own.
Knowing that she was safe from keen eyes, Caroline moved along towards a massive wooden door of four meters of size and waited until it automatically moved. This gate was given to Elstivia by King Katas, and it was an automatic door that used mana to open itself.
Caroline recalled one of the lessons she gave to small children of the different orphanages. The children asked her ‘How could an inanimate object use mana?’, and Caroline remembered to reply to them ‘Due to massive concentrations of mana in Terra, some gems, stones, and crystals acquire the ability to store mana. Those materials that store mana can be used for the creation of many kinds of equipments, like the staff I carry, and also can be used in mana engineering to create marvels like that’.
After reminiscing about how cute it was to explain this kind of things to children, and how amazed they seemed to be, she decided to not stay there since the guards always warned her that doing that was unsafe for both the castle and herself, since many people (even inside the church of Zerax) hated her by how nice she was to those who didn’t believe in Zerax’s gospel.
And so, Caroline left the castle and got in a big carriage made of oak wood and carried by 4 warhorses, that carriage could fit 10 people in it and have space to have the kind of fun that Caroline loved and there would be if she was traveling outside the city. After all, she loved having a time for snacks and more if it was getting life force from innocent guys due to her nature but also because she loved eating. Even if later she would just keep her perfect weight after some exercise, by dealing with some dangerous individuals.
