In a normal day of summer, a 14-year-old boy with brown hair, rosy skin, and black eyes who was wearing a black T-shirt with a rock band name in it, jeans, and black sneakers entered inside a normal hospital while bleeding out. All the doctors were busy, due to having financial cuts from the government that made them have to fire some doctors which in return increased the workload of the remaining employees even further, so they couldn't even treat him. Also, the fact that it was summer and that some doctors were having their well-deserved holidays didn’t assist.
“Hello? I need some help. Agh, dammit.” The boy said as he coughed blood due to an internal injury and almost fell to the ground. ‘Shit, the old man could have avoided hitting the ribs. One went through the lung, for sure, shit.’ The boy thought to himself as he tried to walk, but could only limp towards the reception of the hospital.
“Be careful, he looks like one of those thugs that go around the streets. And this one is the son of a politician who took a vast amount of the investment money for this hospital.” One of the nurses told to another nurse who wanted to check Evan, due to the Hippocratic oath.
“Y-Yeah, but still!” The other nurse said, while a few doctors (two males and a female) that were taking their break glared at the boy.
“No one will ever want to treat that boy. His father has already warned this hospital a few times for treating him. But I will try to save his life, the other nurse is right. We did an oath, and I will most certainly try my best to fulfill said oath.” One of the doctors said, as he walked towards the boy.
“Hey, doc. I know it’s not the proper method, but I need immediate assistance.” The boy said, as he coughed blood, while making sure to get as close as possible to the doctor. ‘If I get this close, they must help me, as my blood could be infected, and they couldn’t be able to clean the bloodstains on the doc’s coat quickly enough with the disturbance I am making.’ The boy thought as he got close to the doctor.
“Yeah, don’t worry. We will check you out and help you out.” The doctor said to the boy, as he sighed and led the boy to a room.
The boy was led to a doctor’s office, while the doctor started checking out the situation. But turned out that four ribs had pierced one of the lungs, due to several fractures the boy had due to physical trauma done by a sort of club.
Due to the loss of investment money, and the holiday season, the surgery rooms were fully filled as the boy wasn’t the only one who required a surgery and a few were important surgeries like heart transplants.
The doctor tried to send the boy to the private healthcare, as a sort of emergency, but the private healthcare denied it as they called the boy’s family and the family clearly said that they wouldn’t pay for it.
In the case of private healthcare, the private doctors wouldn't work without getting paid and the boy's family would not pay for his treatment, mostly because it seemed like they were unable to pay.
And so, without other options, the doctor hoped to save the boy if the boy could survive on palliative treatment until a surgery room was open. But fate would deny the boy his chance to survive, as he died after half an hour due to the internal bleeding.
After his own death, the boy saw a dark room and stayed there waiting to know what is going on while remembering all of his life. Mainly, it was the only thing he could do which led to be a clear moment of critical analysis on his own life.
Evan POV:
Well, the boy died because of the family that did not even care about his life. Moreover, they just beat the boy and laughed at him. Even if he had tried to escape or denounce his family for all the mistreatment, he could not since he had no proof that was not his body and because his father was an important politician.
How do I know this? I am that boy, and I know my own life. My name is Evan Richards and my parents literally killed me by punching, stabbing and more, but I will keep that for myself.
Still, after all that had happened, I had to become more evil than them to survive this long. Stealing? Done it thousands of times, easy. Extortion? No big deal, with that I managed to buy enough things to be able to go to school and pass. Killing? Guess what, never needed. Yet always ready to do so. Almost killed a pair of thugs once.
So all in all, I would be called an evil boy who loved to cause mischief. Hell, my parents will surely get paid for my death. Well, this rotten world is like this. The weak becomes as evil as the strong.
That said, I guess I earned did enough evil to be sent to hell, and if I get a new life… I will just hope that it’s a better one that this one.
Still, I am in a dark room. I can't see anything and I start thinking that I am in hell already. Well, that's what you call fast and efficient work. At least, I will see the succubus. I really hope they are hot.
POV end.
Meanwhile, in that dark room there was a tall woman with long dark hair, pale skin with soft makeup that made her look a bit sexier by making her gaze look sharper and giving color to her skin, purple eyes, a chest that could easily be an F cup, a plump backside, with a perfect jawline and plump lips that had a purple lipstick applied onto them, who was wearing a long black dress, black garterbelt that could be noticed as it got attached to a pair of lacy black stockings, and a pair of 15-inches black heels. She was smiling, because she had found a perfect soul for once and wanted to do a deal with it. After all, she was a goddess, a goddess of darkness, who was mischievous and liked chaotic lives like the one that boy had suffered.
“Hello, Evan.” The woman said while walking towards Evan, keeping a smile.
Evan, who didn't know exactly where he was, was clearly suspicious of that woman. Not that he could do much against that woman, without knowing anything about the area, but decided to play the fool for a bit.
“Who are you? The Devil? If so, don’t mind me saying this: But I love the fact that the one that portrayed you was a chauvinistic fool. It gives you a perfect alibi, and it’s ironic.” Evan said while smiling widely, knowing that either it was a good guess or a good jab. ‘Let’s see how she reacts. And what’s the worst that could happen? I am already dead.’ Evan thought to himself.
The woman looked clearly offended, and Evan felt like that was clearly a bad move from his part this once. It was certainly the first time he did such a bad move, but that didn't phase him. After all, what could be worse than being in hell? Also, the best way that Evan knew how to find out the weakness of someone was ticking them off.
“Oh no! Your God is a lazy ass! He takes an entire day to send a soul to heaven or hell!” the woman said while squinting her eyes, her voice being high-pitched but melodious.
“Oh, okay. My apologies. So, you are…?” Evan said, in order to apologize for the offense to prevent any bad situation and look like a kinder person. ‘If I am going to get carried in express by the devil, might as well get a chance to work for her. But she doesn’t wear brand-name clothes, I feel stolen.’ Evan thought as he looked at the woman.
The woman smiled proudly, while adjusting her posture to look refined and important. This clearly raised Evan's suspicions, because he couldn't grasp right away what kind of person this woman is, and that was what Evan didn’t like. That said, he was used to dealing with people like that due to his past in Earth and knew exactly how to keep his face with a soft smile while acting like he was just a nice person.
“Namika, goddess of Darkness. And I want to do a deal with you.” the goddess said, while smiling at Evan.
These words only did increase Evan’s wariness, since he knew that if a being like Namika wanted something from a mortal… It would be far more troublesome than death, and it wasn’t something like a deadly tea party, so it was better to play it humble.
“What do you want? I don’t think that someone of your high caliber would be impressed by a powerless thug like me.” Evan asked, lowering his worth in order to seem humble. If he looked humble, maybe he could get a better chance. ‘So, a Christian finds a girl calling herself a goddess. Excuse me, but the irony is written there. Well, it’s not like my faith wasn’t the highest after all.’ Evan thought to himself.
“Yet you are more educated than most of the people of your age, and have a talent for planning. So, do you want to be reincarnated in another world? I will allow you to do so. But for that, you will have to reject your chance to live in your world.” Namika said, while making sure to keep an eye on the look of Evan.
Evan looked around, and decided to think carefully about the offer, while Namika waited for a bit to hear his answer. It had no cons as far as he could see, he was dead and there wasn’t a way out of that, and a clean start would be just the thing he needed.
And so, Evan knew that there wasn't much to think about the offer and decided to play the role of an excited, naive boy with a wide smile. A facade to keep the goddess tricked, hopefully it would work to prevent a 24-hour vigilance from a goddess.
“I accept. No need to even think about it. That world can burn, and I will not care about it or its inhabitants. All of them are rotten, and there’s enough to corruption to make me rethink about philosophy over democracy and reigns.” Evan said, thinking that this would most certainly surprise Namika. ‘It’s not like staying dead will help me, and worst case I will just be reincarnated as a baby and then used. At least, this way, I might keep my memories and take the reins for myself.’ Evan thought to himself.
Namika was clearly surprised by Evan's surprise, he turned out way more different from what she expected of one of the godslayers of old. Because of the old plan of the gods to send a way to transfer people's consciousness to Terra seemed faulty in her eyes, specially in a form of a game and not counting the distrust of the Earth towards gods.
Turns out that the plan worked extremely well to get countless people they could reclaim to Terra when they died, maybe even too well. Just like, the finest of all the players were known as godslayers since they did slay some gods of old.
“I see. But your new world is a world of magic and swords. I will be giving you a little gift. There was a game you played when you were a kid.” Namika informed, while misleading Evan on purpose.
Namika decided to fool Evan for a while, making him think that he was going to a world way different from Terra. Mainly for her own safety, but also to prevent any backing down. Evan was powerful and cunning, so he wouldn’t risk himself in a really dangerous situation.
This was done to ensure he wouldn’t touch the ruins of what he did back in the godslaying era, even though he and the others were players of a game that happened in that world. After all, Evan was the best godslayer, due to his cunning, and the one most prone to go to kill gods.
“Oh, yes. Dawn World. I was a mage with a lot of intelligence and dexterity. And a bit of agility. A shame that the game did not get past the beta stage, but well, I did clear most of the big bosses there.” Evan said while recalling the game Namika was talking about. ‘Why is she bringing that up? Is it like the Isekai stories some people read? Hey, I won’t mind it at all.’ Evan thought to himself.
“I will give you those stats and the ability to have the skills of that character even when you are only a kid at level 1. Also, I will give you several blessings to aid in your quest.” Namika explained while thinking about how to curtail Evan to prevent him from going haywire.
“So I get necromancer, trickster, devil meister, and magician skill trees. The level 60 build was good, but I get 60 skill points more… Uh.” Evan said while pondering the situation.
“Exactly. You will have a tutorial to aid you to start your life in this world. My first blessing.” Namika said, while smiling, she was sure that she had misled Evan enough.
Evan started thinking carefully about what he would get, after all, his build was made of low quality skills that could be exploited to outplay most enemies. Would they work in that new world he was going to be sent? He would have to experiment on that, and check if he also would have his disastrous mess of an inventory, but for now he decided to play the young boy role a bit more.
“Neat.” Evan said, while keeping a happy face, to show some sort of excitement.
“The second is simple. Full resistance to curses and poisons.” Namika said while smiling widely at Evan’s reaction.
Evan started sweating after hearing that, it was wonderful, and it could be helpful for him… But also, that resistance could be bypassed in a way he does not know and could be his demise and if people could analyze his skills, they could be suspicious of him.
“Do not make me too OP.” Evan muttered, knowing how dangerous it was to be seen as a powerful being, specially if it went the way he did hear from other students that liked to read isekai novels, which could easily end up in him being a prince or married off to a princess.
“Don’t worry, they won’t appear as special skills. Third: Double skill points. Each time you level up, you gain 2 skill points.” Namika reassured Evan, knowing that it could be too much pressure for someone who had been misled. 4 skill points were a lot, but also meant that he could use them to acquire skill trees that could be useful.
“And the last one? I hope.” Evan said, considering the fact that this could be a rather dangerous position for him.
“Soul Consumption. You eat souls of creatures you kill, and you gain status points.” Namika replied while smiling.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
Evan remembered all the skills he had in Dawn World, and got serious while pondering about the things he would obtain. Also, the double skill points sounded wonderful, but if things ran just like in Dawn World, he would have a massive problem soon.
Due to the limit of affinities, he would have to find a way to get more affinities, specially because he had swordsmanship because of bad luck which for him was useless.
In Dawn World, people could obtain skills if they had an affinity for said skills… But if someone didn’t have it, they had to either train a lot or obtain a special item known as affinity orb. Evan didn’t know if things would still work in the world he was supposedly going to reincarnate, which meant that he would have a concern regarding how the skills would truly work.
“You went all-in to turn me into a full OP person.” Evan said, thinking about how he could get free from the possible attention he would get.
“Not at all. You will need the skill points. Mostly you have the necromancy, dark magic, and fire magic. The rest have to be gained, since I will seal them for four years. And that's going to be fun to see. “ Namika said while trying to keep her chuckling inside her.
Evan started panicking due to the fact that he had his best skills sealed away, and not only that… His items could be sealed too, which meant that there was a massive concern. Evan didn’t rely on equipment, but his inventory held all kinds of items that could easily turn him into a powerhouse once the requirements for using them were cleared.
This would have been a boon that the young dark lord would choose over quadruple skill points, since some of those items could save his life in a pinch.
“I hope so. And who will I be?” Evan asked, with doubts appearing in his mind about how he would have to plan things.
“Former prince Edward Leonhard. Killed by a conspiracy to make his brother into king.” Namika answered calmly, while keeping an eye on Evan’s reaction.
Evan clearly looked disappointed after hearing Namika's words, because of the massive bother it would be to be reincarnated as a prince that should be dead, knowing how the monarchs did ensure that they would be safe.
Alongside the fact that the special body that he had prepared in Dawn World, since it was a modded body, would mean squat anymore, so a lot of stat improvements to the garbage dumpsters right away. And that was without adding the fact that he got nerfed badly extremely quickly, if he didn't have the Trickster skill tree... That would mean that right now he was a lot less mobile, also without most of his spell affinities meant that he was close to the stereotypical glass cannon than anything else.
And all of that, without counting the state in which his body could be. He could be a cripple for all he knew, and that alone could counter all the boons he had right away, which could be a massive concern for his future plans.
Namika sighed, because she felt that she had been too harsh with the person that would be her herald in Terra.
“So this world is as rotten as the one I have lived in.” Evan said while taking a deep breath.
“Humans are usually like that. Well, your tutorial book will give you quests. Complete them, and you will gain special skills and recover part of your power.” Namika explained while looking a bit worried about Evan’s mental state.
Evan sighed, because he noticed that he would not have his special skills either, which literally turned him into a massive glass cannon until he recovered his power. In short, a nightmare for Evan since that meant more nerfs for him which did start outweighing the boons granted.
“I will be nerfed. Great. That way things will be interesting, I hope. See you soon, I guess.” Evan said, while lamenting the situation.
Namika was happy, because Evan had accepted her deal, but also worried due to Evan's reaction to how his body was right now.
“No, do try to stay alive!” Namika said, hoping for Evan’s success.
Then Evan saw a light and walked towards it, and he was blinded by the light until he felt like he had water on his lungs and that he couldn't move.
In a forest, a tall woman with long blonde hair, blue eyes and porcelain skin, who was wearing a nun dress which was a rather short blue dress with white stripes across her silhouette, white stockings, and blue stilletto heels. She held a wooden staff in her hands, and was searching herbs to make potions.
The dress was short enough to give a good glimpse of the cleavage of the nun’s chest, and rather tight by the looks of it.
Near a river, this nun found a small boy with golden hair, a blue left eye, wearing torn apart clothes that seemed of royalty and bleeding. His right eye was gone, and it seemed that he had died, so the nun went to bury him when the boy coughed up blood and started cursing angrily without caring about where he was.
“Dammit! I get this from being reincarnated in another world! At least give me a not messed up body! Not too much to ask! I got already nerfed, you damnable lass! At this rate, it will be death because of how you set things!” Evan cursed, while not caring about where he was or who was around.
The nun clearly looked spooked due to Evan's reaction, and decided to ask for who he was, since his reaction was way too lively for a living person. She was used to reincarnated people, like most people from Terra, but this was a first even for her.
“Who are you!?” the nun asked, ready to run away if the boy she was looking at would try to kill her.
Evan looked at the nun, and started cursing himself internally. He was caught right away, and he was rather sure that she heard him say that he was reincarnated… So instead of just denying it, and probably end up in an asylum, he would just be honest. Also, if his honesty worked out perfectly… This nun could be his first ally. Otherwise… Well, the nun was already preparing a grave, so it wouldn’t be an issue to bury her there for a few hours and run away. He might have never killed a person, but it wasn’t because he felt weird about it. That said, he had a feeling he could trust her.
“If Namika was right, I have the body of Edward Leonhard. By the way, I only have the body. I am not him. You may call me, Evan.” Evan said, introducing himself. Since Namika was a goddess, it was logic that probably the nun was somehow connected to Namika. But seeing her outfit, made Evan think if Namika was of those goddesses that preferred cute girls. If so, he was lucky to not have become a girl. It would have been a headache to say the least.
“Well, if you have the body... You also have the identity. So I will call you Edward. My name is Lillian. I am a nun and I own the local orphanage.” Lillian said, while innocently believing the boy, since he seemed to not be hostile.
Evan started thinking about the situation, it wasn’t that bad, and since he was already caught by this nun… It could be just good to go with her, after all… She had assisted him, and if his minor knowledge on stories regarding dark lords told him anything… This nun didn’t have a bright future if she betrayed him, since she had saved his life, and he could use that to his advantage, but for that he needed to take a risk with being completely honest to her.
“Well, lucky me. Because my parents were killed.” Evan said while smiling.
“First, I shall heal you. MINOR HEAL!” Lillian said while an azure flow of energy came out of her body and became pure white after saying the words ‘Minor Heal’. This energy became a ball of light and went towards Evan.
A ball of light surrounded Evan and healed his wounds but couldn’t fix his lost eye, which made Evan frown and sigh, because moving without depth perception was a problem and a big one even for aiming. That said, for Evan it seemed like the skills worked exactly the same as they did on Terra, but that was still to be proved entirely. But Evan took it as a challenge, and decided to get used to it, while also acting a bit naive while being entirely honest. No one could know if Namika was watching him right now, and he hoped to get out of her sight as soon as possible.
“Well, now I have to find a town and get to an orphanage. Without parents, a six-year-old kid is done for. Seriously, this was set to be a nightmare run or what?” Evan said, trying to consider everything.
Evan got up shakily to check if what he was saying was in fact true, and watched his reflection on the water. He was handsome, and with a good body for a child that was almost dead… But the body felt sluggish, and Evan felt a crippling amount of pain whenever he was breathing.
That said, this body was exactly perfect for tricking others into being nicer to him… Not a thing he liked, but one he would use to the utmost level.
Lillian smiled, and seemed clearly happy because one more kid could help the orphanage more while also being able to help poor children. Also, if this boy was a reincarnated person… He could help her out with some issues she had in her own orphanage. Her answer clearly surprised Evan, who couldn't believe that finally got a lucky break after all what had happened to him already.
“Then come to mine! My healing abilities only healed your wounds. Your body still needs to be repaired. And surely with an orphanage close to the castle, someone who can fix your body comes!” Lillian said, thinking that Evan could be some sort of blessing for her.
Evan was surprised, he never expected this situation and thought that this was set by Namika in some manner or that Lillian was planning to use him for something. That said, even if it was risky… It was the best option with the four years of time until he recovered his powers, because he needed to prepare a few things more, and he’d need time alongside resources.
“OH. Crap baskets. Yes, I will go with you then. Thanks!” Evan said, considering it the only path he could take right now.
Evan and Lillian went together to the city, while Evan tried his finest to adapt to the loss of depth perception, but wasn't truly easy to do so. That said, Lillian seemed to be a rather carefree girl on his eyes. Yet his mind reminded him that the most dangerous type of person was the one that acted like a fool, so he’d remain honest but also ready for any situation if possible.
***
Namika was keeping an eye on Evan from her own realm, which was the one Evan had been in soul form, with a massive black water fountain with an azure liquid that acted like it was water, but its reflection showed exactly the area around Evan. She was smiling to herself, seeing how things were working as she had expected without Evan finding out about her plans. The plan was working along, until she saw a pink ball of light floating near her. It was a natural way to contact other gods, to send a sphere of mana to the realm of the god they wanted to contact, but it was a surprise for Namika that the goddess that sent this sphere had decided to contact first.
“It’s a surprise for you to appear like this, Edia. I am just keeping an eye on my investment.” Namika said, without looking at the sphere.
“Well, dearie. You know me. We are riding together in this boat. And Zerax needs to die. But I don’t like the idea of sending the one who made Terra’s definition of war crime change overnight. Do I remind you of Mount Sunlight’s incident? This bastard blasted the entire mountain into a valley.” A feminine, albeit slightly childish, voice came out of the orb as the goddess Edia spoke through it.
“Yet if we want to deal with Vizgard and the other godslayers that are blinded by Zerax’s politics or are using Zerax while being used by that prick… We need the one who ruled over them all. Ruler needs to be back.” Namika said before taking a deep breath.
“Once he finds out all of his actions allowed us to survive, and that he wasn’t in a game but that we used Earth as a way to prepare agents once they died on Earth… I fear he might want to burn us to nothing, or worse-” Edia said, with fear in her voice.
“If that’s the price I must pay to avoid that prick from becoming like the god of Earth, then I am glad to pay it. One way or another, we’d be dead in that scenario. So at least, I am going to kick the bucket by kicking Zerax’s ass.” Namika said as she smiled.
“The worst will be after we die. He’ll make another Neradath, and I don’t think he’ll leave the Arens alone after they have been hunting all of his troops during centuries.” Edia said.
“Well, why to worry if we are dead, right? As I said, if I am going to die, I am going to kick the bucket while messing up Zerax’s plans as much as possible.” Namika said calmly.
“Yeah, but I prefer to live! There are so many couples that I must help!” Edia exclaimed.
“I understand that. But for that reason, I am keeping an eye on him and setting things as well as I can. With the children in that orphanage, he should pretty much be stable for at least eight years. If we can get him to look at us as supporters, we might get off with just a warning.” Namika said as she smirked.
“Oh, and if we get him a good wife? It’s how the kings handle things!” Edia said, thinking of a very fun situation.
“Well, maybe it works, but just don’t annoy him about that.” Namika replied as she giggled. ‘Hopefully this will keep him busy, as I handle the mess of an inventory that psycho has…’ Namika thought as she kept giggling.
And so, both goddesses started talking about what to do with Evan and considering how things were going as they watched Evan. But one thing was sure, they didn’t want to incur his wrath as much as possible, and they wanted to make sure he was friendly towards them.
