Evan was walking around the city, as he saved the vajra he had acquired in his inventory, and looked at how the people acted and what they were talking about. He heard many people get worried about how the new laws that David was making caused that the children could become slaves easily and many had lost their hope in the future seeing how they were losing their rights one by one.
But while Evan was listening to the people, he heard a pair of guards talking while having a piece of black cloth on their left arms. Evan recognized that black cloth as an item of Dawn World, known as Silent Cloth, that made it harder for people to hear the voice of the user. Due to his inquisitive nature, Evan seemed able to ignore the effect of Silent Cloth. Or that, or his resistance to curses also affected the effects of Silent Cloth since it cursed those surrounding the user, with a weak curse known as air mind that made those affected by the curse to be more unfocused than usual, in order to work.
“And the people don't know what Josh has planned. I think that we will have a bad century ahead. But all for the safety of his plan. Isn't it right, Steve?” One of the guards said as he kept walking.
“True. But we shouldn't talk about it a lot, Max.” Steve said with a wide smirk on his face.
“Why? It's not like someone could hear us so happily.” Max said as he pointed to the Silent Cloth he was wearing.
“That kid with the blonde hair is listening to us. I don’t know how, but that’s a problem.” Steve said with a serious face.
“We will scare him in a moment.” Max said confidently, as he walked towards Evan.
Evan heard all and smiled, since he wanted the guards to get closer to him as he desired the Silent Cloth. He did not want to hurt guards, but he was not going to back down of a fight and more one that he could win, but then August appeared when they were planning to attack Evan while looking at both guards with an angry face.
‘Shit, you busted my plan, crow winged bastard. Silent Cloth on its own is a wonderful item, but if several of them are united, I can make Divine Silence’s suit. But it’s not like I can go for the quick curse and steal while someone is watching.’ Evan thought to himself as he cursed his luck.
“Can you tell me about what Josh has planned, or I have to start pummeling you two?” August said with an angry face.
“No need. By what they were talking and knowing of Josh, the plan will include slavery, an increase in people getting turned into slaves and more profit from slavery. That said, it’s interesting to see an angel capable of hearing a conversation of individuals using the common rarity item known as Silent Cloth.” Evan said as he smirked.
August looked at Evan, surprised by how knowledgeable the young boy was, and smiled widely, trying to calm the young boy that in his opinion was scared. Meanwhile, the guards looked surprised at Evan and were starting to think in a way out of the mess they got in.
“Seems that you know a lot! I suppose your teacher is quite the magician. Who are you?” August said as he looked at Evan.
“I will not say my name. You can guess the obvious reasons for that, after all. But I would love to know who you are, angel or better said half angel?” Evan said with a smile, a false one, clearly holding back his anger,
“My name is August, and I am a silver-blooded angel.” August said, as he smiled at Evan.
“Ah, I need to obtain information about your race then. Well, I hope you enjoy your stay in this country!” Evan said as he quickly moved on. ‘Better to run away from an enemy I don’t understand. Even if he is not an enemy, I prefer to know all the details of an unknown species.’ Evan thought to himself.
“I am just going to help the hero, so I don't think it will be a long stay. Have a nice day!” August said with a wide smile.
“Oh, I see. Good luck with your journey and have a great day!” Evan said, planning to leave quickly to avoid being caught by the hero. ‘Yep, confirmed, he is an enemy. It sucks, because he seems a nice guy, but I am not going to pull my punches because they are nice people. They stand in the path of my plan, they go down.’ Evan thought to himself, as he was going to leave the area.
Evan left with a smiled while the guards tried to grab him, but August stopped them and started interrogating them. And as Evan left, he received a weird message sent with telepathy by Namika, which he was going to the orphanage to get changed.
The message said: ‘Check in the sewers of the capital. Be careful, it’s either forbidden tech grounds, or vampire gangs territory. Also, don’t go too low, there’s a sort of underworld made for vampires and other species that were failed creations of my companions. The greatest back burner of existence, especially because the failed creations were caused due to unforeseeable mutations.’.
‘Goddamn it all to Inferno. A god should become wise before being a god. Seriously, this is surreal. I suppose this world is way thicker than Earth, considering the fact that there is an entire subterranean area for those species that were too mutated, or too weak to sunlight, below the sewers instead of a thick and massive amount of rock and stone. And I didn’t raid it, yet. I shouldn’t be greedy, I know how that went with Inferno.’ Evan thought as he started looking for a manhole in the capital city of Crelens.
As Evan looked for a manhole, he found a round manhole with only a pipe to act as a method to go up and down. Luckily it was open, as it seemed like the manhole had a rather sturdy and thick door to cover said manhole, made of mythril and enchanted to prevent people from touching it. The enchanted part was proven as Evan saw a young child touching the manhole door and getting fried by a severe electrical current that knocked him out.
Evan simply chuckled at the sight, as the child clearly looked like a noble due to the fancy tunic he was wearing, and decided to jump down the manhole as he turned his legs into a slightly gelatinous kind of legs to avoid breaking his knees due to the fall by dispersing the impact through the entire leg.
The sewers were made of stone, as they were old, but it was clear that someone kept it clean. As much as it could be clean in the sewers of a capital city, which was mainly that it didn’t have puddles of water formed across the hallways of the sewers.
The air was putrid, due to the residues left on the water and the sewage water itself, which made Evan modify slightly his nose with Body Transmutation to ensure that his nose didn’t catch up the smell as his legs turned to normal.
“At least it’s clean. Otherwise, it’d be a slime galore. And I will have to be honest, eating that slime probably was the best idea I had. So many uses. Because if this smell found its way to the populace, we could easily consider Crelens a pig pen. A most vile one.” Evan commented as he walked through the area, seeking out the Technocratic Revolution.
“Well, why the hell are you seeking the Technocratic Revolution? You know, to the point of wanting to locate them this soon and all that.” Noche said, as he came out of Evan’s body, while floating near the dark lord.
“Because I suck at Manatek? I am a mage, not a tech wizard. So, of course, I never touched it too much. I have some notions, but it’s been ages since I last touched it. I could check with Gio, but Gio worked alone. We need a lot of workforce, and I don’t know if the magic corp and its branch corps are around or even if they have influence enough to work. So, I will seek the most viable and the easiest group to deal with.” Evan explained, as he kept walking.
“It is surprising to see that you are bad at something.” Noche said, as he chuckled loudly.
“Well, duh. It’s like close combat. I know how to fight close quarters, but if I have to fight like a warrior… I might as well just dig up a place in my backyard for my corpse, since I don’t have the same stats as a warrior. Technology evolves almost on the daily, and no one knows how many years the tech has been improving in this world. Maybe the normal people barely reach in some parts to the tech of the 90’s, and abusing mana engineering for it, but could be surpassing modern tech in other parts.” Evan said, while shrugging.
“So the Technocratic Revolution is the easiest to deal with? Why is that?” Noche asked, curious about the group itself.
“Because they are rankers. The devs, or the gods as it turns out, made us unable to participate in official PVP events because we were too powerful, as we dealt with world bosses and other gods like no one’s business when we worked together. Or in my case, at times, handling the raids alone. While most godslayers ignored body modding that wasn’t biological, which I know a fair bit and probably will still be one of the biggest experts on it due to my tinkering in Dawn World, the rankers used a lot of mana technologies. Usually even having rankers using builds that focus on mana engineering and mana operations as those acted as scouts.” Evan replied, in a long explanation, as he walked.
“I see, they supported the teams with experts in info acquisition.” Noche said, as he started understanding the reason that made Evan to go searching for them.
“Yeah, and they were the only group of the rankers that managed to use godslayer level tech. Henceforth, our best group.to contact. Magic corp is made by otakus, and the hardcore kind. Mana corp is just their American branch, in case you heard of them, and while they are more controlled… Yeah, they are so much into smart guns. So, unless we seek solitary experts or small groups and force them to work together, the Technocratic Revolution is our best bet. Oh, gods, they are our best bets unless Nigredo. And I don’t want to mess Grandine’s plans.” Evan said as he scowled.
“You are not telling me something, Evan. Come on, spit it out.” Noche said as he floated around Evan.
“You shall see. You shall. But I am reserving my right to not comment on it.” Evan said, while he found a massive vault door with a few cameras on the outside.
The vault door he had found was a massive mythril one with a few hundreds of enchantments, as Evan could even see a soft line of mana placed on top of the vault due to the massive amount of enchantments added onto it, with a small padlock alongside a fingerprint scanner.
Evan simply sighed and walked a few meters away before shooting a fireball at it, only to see it explode and practically do nothing to the vault.
“Huh, they sure amped up the vault door. Back on Dawn World, they had one that reproduced soul music, and it was quite easy to melt due to the enchantments required for it to be that funny. Well, it works as knocking on the door, right?” Evan said as he looked impressed at the vault door.
“Also, you probably called half a damned army with that.” Noche said, with a tired tone.
“Oh, well. If they come here, knowing the Technocrats, I may be even paid for letting them try their newest tech.” Evan said, with a smile on his face, as he looked at the vault door.
As Noche went inside Evan, to avoid being seen, the vault door opened, showing a tall man with long black hair, with a smooth tanned skin, a small circular chip attached to the left side of his head, eyes that had both red and yellow mixed in their pupils and pure white sclera, and metallic knuckles. This man was wearing a black T-shirt, black glasses, long deep blue jeans, and black boots as he looked at Evan with a calm face.
“So you are back, Evan. There’s no one enough psychotic to shoot a fireball at an iron vault made specifically to block fire attacks, and still manage to raise a bit the temperature of the vault.” The man said as he scowled at Evan.
“It was just a knock. I don’t aim to cause a mess. But I need your help, JoyJay.” Evan said with a calm face, as he smirked.
“You? My help? More like you want us to cover for Nigredo, so she can do her own thing while you go around. Either way, get in. It seems no one updated you in what happened with the godslayers and the rankers.” JoyJay said as he walked inside the area beyond the vault door.
“Yeah, get me up to speed why they haven’t done anything with David’s ineptitude to the point I had to be reincarnated in a corpse.” Evan said as he followed JoyJay.
Both JoyJay and Evan walked through a metallic hallway, which had ten benches made of steel that allowed more than five people to sit together, and led towards a massive underground modern city with roadways made of concrete and sidewalks made of stone. Between the roadways and the sidewalks, there were cycle tracks for people who were using bicycles to go across the city.
The city itself had buildings made of steel, as apartment buildings, and even the shops were made of steel, so they wouldn’t be damaged by any sudden tremor, while there were some pads made of gold and silver attached near each building in which Evan saw people getting onto them and then being teleported away.
One thing to note was that the floor of this underground city had small air recyclers that sent the carbon dioxide away, and released oxygen, and that trees existed below the city of Crelens, and they were growing near the buildings of this underground city.
But the weirdest thing for Evan was that the sun was illuminating the entire city as if there wasn’t an entire city above this city, which is when he saw that the roof of the city had a refractive material that acted as a mirror but in truth was an enchanted mirror that absorbed the heat of the streets of Crelens and turned them into safe UV light for the people.
“Oh, wow. You sure made a city in the sewers. Somehow. The logistics of it elude me, but sure looks like a modern city.” Evan said with a surprised face, as he looked at the vibrant city.
“Yeah, thanks. We did work on this since we couldn’t show ourselves to the world. The other option was being sent to the sealed world. And excuse me, but I don’t want to be there. You may feel comfortable there, but I will not.” JoyJay said as he walked with Evan following him.
“So, what about that deal, JoyJay?” Evan asked as walked forward.
“Mainly said, godslayers nor those with superior tech that can hack the entirety of the systems of the people of this era can interfere with political issues. Unless they are the proxy of a god or a goddess. In return, the countries do not mess with us and allow us to live peacefully without worrying about being attacked. If we break the law, to the sealed world.” JoyJay said.
“I feel stolen. Either way, since I fulfill the condition to be able to interfere: No issues. So, I suppose the paladins went with several gods. I can bet that Vizgard is going with Zerax, as an attempt to change the stupidity of Zerax’s work from the inside. And those that hate me probably go with that. Fair question, now that I think about it: Prophets and oracles are considered proxies of any god or are exempted of this deal?” Evan said as he scratched his chin.
“No?” JoyJay replied to Evan’s question, with a raised eyebrow.
“Ah, okay. Then kiddie gloves are off for you. Prophet Naliala has ignored the deal and tried to kill Azmosdei.” Evan said nonchalantly.
“What!?” JoyJay exclaimed, as he looked surprised at Evan.
“Yeah, and I was dragged to deal with it by a goddess. So zip it, JoyJay. Talk with Azmosdei, to cover the fact I told you, and then get the data to the other godslayers. But you all are going to deal with that mess, at least until I have an undead army I can throw to Naliala’s home to pay back the debt the prophets seem to owe me.” Evan said with a demonic smile.
“Okay, okay. That’s why you wanted to see the Technocrats?” JoyJay said as he scratched the back of his neck.
“Nope. That’s just one of the two reasons. The second one, I want you to help me out with counter-intel. You know: I don’t want people tracking me and the like. I have to deal with the king’s stupidity, probably spurned further by that prophet. Since it’s connected to the prophet, it’s not breaking the deal. Or so I hope.” Evan said as he looked at JoyJay with a serious gaze.
JoyJay simply kept walking, and then stopped after a few steps. He simply sighed, and shook his head, while he looked at Evan with a serious face.
“What’s in for me? For all of us? What do the technocrats win if you somehow manage to take over Elstivia?” JoyJay asked, with a serious face and a cold tone.
“First, I will send stuff from above to here. Food, supplies... The usual. I need to set the logistics, but it’s a WIP. Second, I gave you info of someone breaking the deal. That means you can go on a spree of using your cybernetics as much as you want against the prophet. Perfect to try out things, right? And third, if I get the country: You will have someone with an undead army that made the gods crap themselves, ready to support you, and a quick exit of the deal. Since Elstivia will have high-tech, the deal will finish automatically.” Evan replied, with a long explanation, as he smirked.
“You know that the vampire nations won’t stay quiet if you start going off, right? Remember one of your titles, Drakul.” JoyJay pointed out, as Evan kept smirking.
“Then that they come. Enemy that comes, fresh meat for the grinder. Nothing more, nothing else. Of course, I’d prefer to deal with it as politely as possible. Some negotiation may work, right?” Evan said, with his smirk, completely confident in his necromancy.
“I will try to smooth things there, and get everything ready with Azmosdei to get the biggest amount of godslayers to cooperate with us against the prophet. But they’ll only help against the prophet. You are getting lots of benefits with this, so I am not going to help you out with Katas.” JoyJay said.
Evan looked surprised for a few seconds, as he wasn’t expecting that limitation, but simply shrugged and then sighed. It’s not like he would require godslayers to kill Katas, and fight the war against Rivialt, at least for now. Later on, he could always try to negotiate with separate groups to work on that.
“So you know that. It’s family business, so can’t tell you to go to deal with that. So don’t worry. His head is mine, not yours. But you sure found out faster than the rest of the world.” Evan said as he placed his hands behind his neck.
Then both JoyJay and Evan kept walking until they arrived to an eight-floor apartment building, and both went to the last floor of the building. JoyJay grabbed a small key from one of the jeans pockets, and used it to open a wooden door. The apartment had tatami mat flooring, sliding bamboo doors, and a few windows to see the outside of the apartment as far as Evan could see.
But that was just a hallway, and JoyJay had stopped Evan before he entered inside the house as the man gave him a pair of straw sandals.
“Put these on before entering inside the house, I don’t want the tatami to get busted because of you. My wife will absolutely murder me if you do.” JoyJay said with a serious gaze.
“She’s that strict? Okay. But never expected a tech junkie like you to have a wife.” Evan said as he took off his shoes and put on the sandals.
“She doesn’t know much of technology, but she was a patient of mine. Crystal bones, you see. So I changed all of her skeleton, as a clan in Krebs arranged a marriage between me and her. I usually would have denied it, but since I had ignored the deal to save her… I had no other choice.” JoyJay said as he blushed, while he also was putting on a pair of straw sandals.
“I always warned Wukong, you, and Gio the same thing back in Dawn World. Good deeds don’t go unpunished. I hope you learned your lesson.” Evan said as he glared at JoyJay.
“Well, she’s rather lovely. And we have a daughter. She also had the problem of crystal bones, and a problem of myopia. I considered changing her eyes, but I want to keep an eye on her eyesight before fully choosing what to do. I would be blessed if you took my daughter in marriage, if you are into that.” JoyJay said as he chuckled.
“Say that bullshit again, just to tease me, and I will most certainly bury you in my backyard with lava on top of your body. I will boil you like the noodles.” Evan said as he grimaced at the idea of arranged marriage. ‘Nope, not going to be a lolicon of the medieval ages. Nope, nope!’ Evan thought to himself.
“It’s just a small joke, a small joke! Calm down! Even if my wife would consider it, seeing your apparent age.” JoyJay said as he walked inside the apartment.
Evan simply scoffed and followed JoyJay inside his house, while making sure to close the door right after entering, as JoyJay walked through the alleyway and opened a sliding door at the end of the hallway, which showcased a living room. This living room had a few red cushions that acted as seats, several bookshelves filled with all sorts of books, and a small table.
As Evan walked inside the room, he heard numerous quiet steps going to the living room as he saw a dark elf, with long black hair styled in a ponytail, black eyes, a perfect tanned glistening skin, a voluptuous body that could compete against Grandine’s, plump red lips, and red nails. This woman was wearing a brown kimono with a pattern made of numerous blue flowers, a pair of white socks, and a pair of black heeled zouri sandals made of lacquered wood with white straps.
“Oh, Mezuki! I brought an old friend!” JoyJay said as he smiled at the woman.
“I see that. Also, he is almost the age of our dear Nomo. She’ll be happy to see quite the man.” Mezuki said as she smiled at Evan. ‘Hm, I always worry about which of the boys could get the attention of Nomo in the future. All of them are really into technology, and lack the manners of a proper husband, which leads to a lot of oil stains on the clothes. Maybe, and just maybe, I should consider trying to arrange a marriage with this boy, he looks kind and looks pleasing to the eye. Also, he seems to be blessed below the waist.’ Mezuki thought as she looked at Evan, and noticed his trained body (courtesy of the prince’s lifestyle and genetics rather than Evan training it).
“Pleased to meet you, miss Mezuki. I am Evan, and I am sure it wasn’t easy to deal with this jackass. Especially with his friends being so much into technology. I am sorry, but I am not that great at technology as your husband. In my case, I learned more about magic, biology, and chemistry rather than technology.” Evan said as he smiled warmly at Mezuki. ‘Let’s be proper with his wife, at least have some damnable manners, since JoyJay probably didn’t tell her squat about me. She probably has been waiting for you alone, JoyJay, and you bring me into this!’ Evan thought to himself.
“Oh, what a nice boy! To be honest, I don’t understand much of the technology my husband uses. But he saved my life, and even makes sure that everything works perfectly. I do love the fact that I can do exercise without any danger, and the glistening skin. After the surgery, my skin had too many scars for my liking, and he helped me with that.” Mezuki said as she smiled at Evan with a warm smile, one which raised his alarms as a shiver went through his back. ‘I have to check a bit more, but he sure seems like a hit! Nomo needs a proper husband, not a tech junkie! I do love my dear Jay, but he needed a lot of work to be a good husband… She requires a man easier to deal with. Especially with her myopia, and so she needs to meet many kinds of people to find her own preference…’ Mezuki said as she placed her left hand on her left cheek.
“Ah, that’s a relief!” Evan said, as he chuckled nervously. ‘I am terrible at this. I feel like she’s a sort of predator, and I am a damnable bunny waiting to be caught. This is why I don’t do good with positive relationships, you bastard! Women like Darya are straight up danger!’ Evan thought to himself, remembering the words of arranged marriage that JoyJay joked about.
“Well, this man is known as the strongest godslayer. The Black Flame Devil. He seems kind and proper, but he sure is a cunning psycho at times! Especially when it comes about his family, since he is a doting dad even with that childish body. He is a necromancer, and the best mage possible, but I suppose the gods placed him in that body to hold him back!” JoyJay said as he smiled.
‘Jay! Thanks, man! Keep babbling about my past, because I feel like she’s going to try to get that arranged marriage!’ Evan thought to himself, as a reaction to JoyJay’s words.
“Oh, well, I am sure he’s quite the man. And a good dad can’t be a bad man!” Mezuki said as she kept her view focused on Evan.
‘Shit, Jay. She didn’t take it the way I planned her to take that info! This is because I blasted your wife bot, Jay!? You have a way better wife, you jackass! Someone, save me from this awkward moment! Please, I never ask for help, but I need a rescue party!’ Evan thought to himself, as he kept a fake smile while laughing awkwardly.
“Oh, I know! How about he stays to have dinner with us? That way, Nomo meets a more normal guy rather than the children that are in this city. She will need to meet good people to find her own type of man later on in life, and the boys here… Well, they are too much into technology and robots. Also, he must have walked a lot to come here, and it would be rude to make him leave without at least some cookies!” Mezuki proposed as her smile became wider. ‘Nomo will enjoy meeting a man that is not always annoying her about her back! She’ll be glad of that, and maybe something blooms!’ Mezuki thought as she smiled widely at Evan.

“I-I guess I could stay, but only if I am not a problem for JoyJay…” Evan said as he started sweating. ‘Shit, shit, shit! What the fuck you lot did to Mezuki!? Why is she trying to make me meet your daughter, Jay!? Don’t tell me the kids here are like the Magic Corp! I need a rescue! Where’s Namika when I need her!?’ Evan thought to himself, as he panicked, while considering the fact that maybe (and just maybe) Mezuki was considering the arranged marriage idea.
“You buried yourself there. If you were a nerd with the tech, probably she wouldn’t have planned that. It’s logical for a dark elf to want a proper first husband for their daughter, after all, they live a very long life and usually get married several times.” Noche said through telepathy, as Evan simply got stiff due to the implications of Noche’s words.
As Evan was stiff due to Noche’s words, and Mezuki’s words, a young dark elven girl with short black hair styled in a small bun, physically of Evan’s apparent age, with round glasses placed on her black eyes, with glistening tanned skin, and a slightly bulky prosthetic on her back. This girl was wearing a red kimono with a blue bird pattern, white socks, and heeled zouri heels.
“Oh, Nomo! You arrived at the best moment! Meet one of my friends! Evan, meet Nomo!” JoyJay said as he smirked at Evan. ‘Sorry, pal, but you’ll have to bite the bullet for me!’ JoyJay thought to himself.
‘I shall murder you someday, Jay! This is not in our deal, you bastard!’ Evan thought as he glared at JoyJay.
Nomo looked at Evan, and she smiled widely, while Evan was glaring at JoyJay. Then she walked closer to Evan, and hugged him, only to blush slightly noticing the trained physique of Evan.
“Like her mother, she has quite the solid preference in physique! I like this! It may be hero territory, but if you do enough debauchery… It can be accepted as a dark lord duty!-” Noche teased Evan through telepathy, which was quickly ignored by Evan.
“O-Oh, pleased to m-meet you, Nomo.” Evan said nervously, as he didn’t like to be hugged like that. ‘I shall burn that book someday, between his teasing and Mezuki… I feel like a damned paladin inside my base! It shouldn’t be happening like this! It’s like if I was a bunny in a damn pit of vipers!’ Evan thought to himself, as he cursed Noche in his mind.
“You are trained. Kinda like Dad and Grandpa! That’s good… I don’t like lanky guys who just talk about implants. I prefer magic.” Nomo said as she innocently let go of Evan, and quickly reddened due to the close contact. ‘I am not used to close contact like this, but it just felt normal. He doesn’t look older than me… But the girls sure said that mature men are good, let’s see why!’ Nomo thought to herself.
“Friendly reminder, or lesson if you don’t know: The mental maturity of a dark elf is achieved from the six years old onwards.” Noche said to Evan with telepathy, in order to tease him again.
“W-well! Let’s just sit down!” Evan quickly said, trying to defuse the situation.
“Okay!” Nomo said as she went to one of the cushions and sat down.
JoyJay was going to sit beside Nomo, only to see Mezuki glaring at him. This made the ranker to sit beside Mezuki as Evan had no other choice than to sit beside Nomo, which made Evan cough for a moment.
From there on out, it was a friendly meeting for Evan. If he didn’t take into account that Mezuki made a lot of questions about his hobbies, and his views on several things like religion or technology, followed by Nomo’s questions too as she was curious about Evan.
***
Meanwhile, the rest of the group was hunting goblins and slimes to gain experience. Legias and Flint were hunting them from afar, Rose tried to hit them with her blood whip but ended up biting and drinking all the goblin blood after several goblins almost escaped her whips and then everyone learned one thing no one knew. Vampires could digest any kind of blood and avoid any kind of toxicity, but that didn't help with the taste of the blood, and Rose was scowling by how the blood tasted.
But what was more surprising than anything else was that Zerana at first was scared, but right after a goblin tried to kidnap her, she went berserk and was literally tearing apart slimes, goblins, and even giant snakes. Luckily, Vivienne could fry any monster who tried to run away from Zerana while the rest just watched Zerana go wild, and decided to not even try to stop her.
“Zerana. Chill. You are going to send the goblins to extinction in less than a week!” Vivienne said with a surprised face, as Zerana was going on a rampage.
“I will end those filthy bastards! I will protect the honor of the wolf clan!” Zerana exclaimed, in a rage worthy of a beastkin.
“There is no finesse in Zerana right now. Neither autocontrol.” Legias pointed out as he was sniping a goblin, who tried to sneak past the rampaging beastkin.
“Our friends are not exactly normal... Especially Rose with being able to drink monster's blood.” Flint said, as he recharged his flintlock calmly, to shoot another goblin trying to escape from the bloodbath.
“What? At least I get some blood. I dislike needing to drink blood, but better that than making Lillian and Evan worry.” Rose said, as she was dropping a dried up goblin, after biting his neck and drinking all of his blood. ‘Why do I feel like someone is trying something bad without my knowledge? That is making me angry.’ Rose thought to herself, as she walked towards Flint and cleaned her mouth with a tissue.
“I shall agree to that. But anyone can stop Zerana? She seems totally different from the usual kind girl... It's like if those goblins were reminding her of a trauma.” Vivienne said as she looked worriedly at Zerana.
Flint started shuddering while remembering the last time he saw Zerana going into a blind rage, and looked clearly afraid of what could happen. It was such a sheer reaction that made Legias simply focus on the elimination of monsters from a distance, to look busy enough to not have to deal with Zerana.
“I only saw her once in that kind of blind rage. A pair of drunk guards were trying to capture an innocent, and Zerana jumped at them and broke their legs. I do not want to be her third victim. I just don't.” Flint said as he shot at a giant snake that tried to make distance with Zerana.
“I appreciate my life enough to not stop her. I did forget about that time, but now that I remember it... Yeah, I appreciate my life.” Legias said, as he shuddered while memories flooded his mind.
“I can try.” Rose said, annoyed by the bad feeling she was having. ‘If someone is trying to get Evan to feast on him, I promise that I will be going to bite them. H-He is my friend, and my blood donor! Not someone else’s!’ Rose thought as she looked angry, while reddening due to her thoughts.
“I handle this, then. Zerana! Calm down, or I will tell Lillian that you have gone wild, and then she will not give you apple cake!” Vivienne exclaimed as she looked at Zerana.
Zerana stopped just after hearing what Vivienne said and ran to Vivienne, smiling widely. Her tail was moving quickly, and seemed that she did misunderstand Vivienne's words, but Vivienne didn’t mind that at all.
‘Apple cake!? Do we get apple cake as a dessert today!? Yay! I want that cake!’ Zerana thought, while covered in slime liquid.
“Good job! Now we have to retrieve the materials from the hunting and see how much we leveled up!” Vivienne exclaimed as she raised her left fist in the air.
“Understood!” The other children exclaimed, excited about their hunt.
The group started retrieving all the materials they could obtain, since that meant that they could sell it for money and that it was far better than doing odd jobs in terms of risk and profit. Also, it was clearly more efficient than the odd jobs thanks to meeting Amelia and making a deal with her, as Zerana had made a rather beneficial deal with Amelia. The deal in itself was getting a 10% more benefits than Evan would get from his hunt in total, and Amelia could fluff Zerana’s fur as she could invite each Wednesday the girls to talk and enjoy a nice day.
