2 days had passed and the day in which Josh should die for Evan's plan arrived, after a lot of preparation done during those two days by the children while Evan rested up due to his right arm acting up again after the usage of Flashfire.
Evan was in his room thinking because he had to decide who would go to the party as a helper for his plan and he was morally troubled. Usually, he wouldn’t mind morality but the thing was that he was getting children involved and then there was another situation that made him suffer even bigger headaches.
The second problem was that he wanted two close-range helpers to ensure that Lillian wouldn't be attacked, but the only two close-range allies he could take were Rose and Zerana. In short, a situation where his reputation as a person would be in danger as either a lucky guy with girls or a lolicon, or both in the worst case, which made him just groan while considering what to do.
“It will not be an issue taking two girls with you, your apparent age helps with that. Better than dealing with Nomo, after the first time you met. Her mother was sure into putting you two together, and Nomo seemed interested in your fire magic. Maybe she’s the kind of fiery girl, with a side of innocence.” Noche said with a cheerful tone.
“It will be hard to explain. And people will be suspecting us already if we have to go through some sort of check-in. Especially if some use analysis spells, I will get caught in less than a second. That’s without counting Isaac appearing to mess up the fun. Luckily, JoyJay warned me about Isaac yesterday. If he gets paid to investigate in the party, since Zerana was involved in Saida’s death, I am dead. I am nowhere close to deal with that guy and cover the girls.” Evan said.
“Well, then why not just taking Zerana and Flint?” Noche asked with a curious tone.
“Same reason as the first team choice! Both were involved in Saida's death, so it’s a sure fact that Isaac will start checking me for it. It would attract unwanted attention. And Legias is useless in close range.” Evan replied while he clutched his head.
“Then why you made him and the other long-range skill users train?” Noche asked again with the same tone, as he flew around.
“As a backup plan, and so they get more money in the same amount of time. It’s not like I will have them waiting and then do a lot more of work, it does raise more suspicion. If Josh escapes, Legias and the others will have to kill him. In theory shouldn’t happen, but my luck has proven to be devastating. If you think otherwise, remember that Nomo’s mom kept teasing me as she talked about her first arranged marriage that was nullified due to her crystal bones.” Evan said before sighing.
“Why don't you use poison? It’s the go to for any assassin. So it should be hard to track. And produce slime works to produce poison, you tried that while resting from the backlash of using Flashfire. I warn you, don’t use spell combos bigger than two spells or spell variations. Your body back on Dawn World was special, since it was fully developed, even if it looked like a child. A child’s body can’t handle your psychotic insanity, and the stress you put it through with the spell combos and the spell variations.” Noche proposed, while warning Evan.
“I would be caught up in no time if I mess it up.” Evan retorted, as he considered the option.
“There is an easier way to poison him. A needle made with your slime, and dip it in poison.” Noche retorted back as he flew around Evan.
“My slime will be caught if he is smart, and Isaac could catch onto that. But knowing of what we know of the adults of this world... It will be easy, as long as it’s not a reincarnated one. And that's my plan A, but I am thinking about how to poison Josh like that and with what.” Evan said as he sighed.
“If you produce a slime tendril in your hand and shake it with Josh. But how?” Noche said, as he was pondering the situation.
“I have to make a parasite that kills him and is untraceable, so I am not suspicious... How can I do it? Most of the parasites either avoid killing the host, or clearly leave larvae.” Evan said as he scratched his chin.
Then Evan remembered something that made everything easier. The blast ants were capable of exploding when touched. Why wouldn't he be unable to reproduce that? If he did that, no one could even try to suspect of his plan.
Evan now had a perfect plan to do it. But first, he would have to create a living slime. He tried to do it with produce slime and worked out well, but it was minuscule. As small as a small parasitic worm, it would be perfect for undercover poisoning, but he was unable to trust that the parasite could reach the brain and explode. He needed a test subject and found a good subject for his test. A drunkard was outside the orphanage, shouting and insulting Lillian after she had pushed him when he tried to touch her. A perfect test subject, and one that could easily be considered dead due to organic failure.
“What!? You are reserving yourself for the hero!? Well, of course, you would. After all, the holy maidens are just a group of women who go after the hero and fulfill his desires! At least leave us, commoners who pay taxes, touch you!” The drunkard shouted, as he tried to grope Lillian.
“Please don't shout. You are drunk and should go home.” Lillian said, as she looked clearly uncomfortable, while trying to distance herself from the drunkard.
As Lillian said so, Evan walked towards her and looked at the broken door. The carpenter said that he would come today to deal with the door, but clearly was late, and Evan was clearly annoyed about it. He was considering asking JoyJay to hack the tech the carpenter had to cause a disaster, as a repayment for allowing this situation to happen for being late.
“Or not, and become my test subject. But I warn, my tests are deadly.” Evan said as he glared at the drunkard.
“I will teach you to respect the adults!” The drunkard shouted as he charged towards Evan.
The drunkard tried to hit Evan, but Evan caught his fist with his left hand. While the drunkard wobbled a bit after getting his fist caught, but he didn't feel the injection of the slime, Evan was smiling widely. His trial test had gone exactly as expected, but now it was the most important moment. If the slime failed its purpose, it would be a massive problem, since Evan's other plans were more risky than this.
“You are already dead.” Evan said as he released the drunkard’s fist, and smiled widely at him.
“Huh!? You think that I will die because you stopped my fist!? You are crazy!” The drunkard exclaimed, ready to punch Evan again.
“Ever heard about the blast ants of Malaysia? If not... You will learn of their power. But yes, I am clinically insane too. Paranoia, anger issues, and highly functional psychopath and sociopath. It’s a mix of both, to be honest.” Evan said as he shrugged.
The drunkard was about to strike Evan, but then a small bang was heard, and he fell to the ground. He had died due to a small parasite entering his brain and made itself explode by autothysis caused by the slime breaking a small organ it had filled with the toxic glue that the blast ants of Malaysia have in their mandibles.
Lillian couldn't understand what happened and stopped Evan, not understand what sort of skill had produced such instant death. She heard of instant death skills, but most of them required a massive amount of time to work, and this one seemingly didn't even require a minute. This scared Lillian to not bounds.
“What kind of skill is that!?” Lillian asked, scared of what had happened, as she looked at Evan.
“No skill. Just produce slime to create a parasitic slime that will make its way to the brain and explode. It is hard to create but works well for assassinations. Oh! It's true! You don't know about the blast ants of Malaysia! They are a small group of ants that have toxic glue that is irritating and corrosive, it can stop the nearby enemies. Should remember that some people could notice the glue after the explosion. Well, for that, they should do an autopsy and then know about the glue. To not count that without a clear wound to make the entrance, no one would believe it was used as I use it.” Evan explained, as he looked at the dead drunkard.
“I do not understand a bit of what you are saying.” Lillian said as she looked puzzled over Evan’s explanation.
“In short. The blast ants of Malaysia fight using that poison, but in case that the fight goes wrong, they destroy the organ that stores the toxic glue and spread it out to the nearby enemies. Predators can't eat it, and that dissuades their idea of eating the ants. But that comes with a small explosion. Enough powerful to cause big damage to the brain of the target if you make a parasite explode inside the brain.” Evan replied as he scratched the back of his neck.
“Ouch. Those ants are bad ones.” Lillian said, as she shuddered, due to imagining how it would feel to be offed by one of those ants.
“The strong fight with its own power, but the weak needs something to fight. That is why poison is called the weapon of the weak. And also the reason that makes the nobles like it. And the perfect thing to use to kill Josh.” Evan said.
”But then, why would you require other people to help you?” Lillian asked, as she looked at Evan with a worried look.
“Avoiding the fact that there could be someone thinking that it would be too odd to go alone without a friend. Going alone would bring unwanted attention, even more than going with two women.” Evan replied as he sighed.
“I see. Then who will you bring?” Lillian said as she tilted her head.
“Rose and Flint. They are my backup in case that someone goes after you or me. I would bring Zerana, but two girls and one boy only... Not the best way to avoid suspicious people, and that no one suspects of us. Also, no one will ever suspect of Rose. She is too cute and young to make them suspect of her. Or so I HOPE.” Evan said as he scratched his chin.
“I would like to bring everyone.” Lillian said as she looked worried.
“Me too. But Grandine will not accept that. We know that.” Evan said as he scratched the back of his head.
“Yeah…” Lillian said with a dejected look.
Lillian looked worried after calming down, and Evan had noticed that, so he decided to see why Lillian was so worried now. After all, if it was a big problem for the orphanage, that meant that it could be a big problem for his plans.
“Well, what has you worried?” Evan asked with a serious look.
“What do you mean?” Lillian asked as she tried to hide her worry.
“I can see that you're worried. Another holy maiden will come?” Evan replied, trying to guess the thing that was getting Lillian worried.
“Yeah. Angie. She's the holy maiden of the royal orphanage, where the noble orphans are. She gets paid a lot, and her orphanage has a tight security. It’s leagues apart from this one.” Lillian said with a dejected tone.
“And she hates you, I guess.” Evan said as he looked at Lillian. ‘It wouldn’t be a surprise if she was a haughty annoyance.’ Evan thought to himself.
“More like she hates the people here.” Lillian said with a worried look.
This made Evan simply sigh at Lillian, and just scratch the back of his neck. That was a problem, and one Evan was planning to take out. One way or another, that annoyance would be gone.
“Well, if she causes trouble, I shall dispose of her.” Evan said with a calm tone. ‘If she tries to mess with Legias and the other children, I will need a vat of acid for her. Nothing too fancy, but no one will know where she went.’ Evan thought to himself.
“I hope we do not have to reach to that point.” Lillian said with a worried look.
“Indeed. Well, time to prepare for the party.” Evan said as he went to his room to get changed.
Evan went to his room to see what he could wear to the party, which was clearly nothing of his liking. In fact, most clothes made him look more like a cute and pampered boy than a normal boy. This clearly irritated Evan more than he would ever admit, but he had to avoid being too petty about these kinds of things.
***
Back in Gio and Pik’s hideout, Ivy was walking on a pair of black heels as she was now wearing brown pants that were rather tight, transparent stockings, a red blouse with a black vest on top of it.
And that wasn’t just the only change she had undergone: The massive changes she had undergone due to the issues she encountered made her to look entirely different. Her skin was snow-white as it had been changed due to the fact that her old skin was covered in scars after the operation, with blue lines going from her knuckles to her shoulders, and it was glistening under the light as it was a metallic skin graft.
Her lips were bright red, and clearly more plump than they had ever been, and her throat had a small circular ring engraved in runes just where her Adam’s apple was located.
Her knuckles now were blue metallic pieces that looked slightly bigger than normal, just like her knees, and her posture was slightly curved due to the prosthetic spine that had made her far more flexible at the cost of only being able to wear heeled footwear.
Ivy’s body felt like it had a second heart due to the new mana generators attached to below her chest (as it was the safest place to place it ), her legs had become thicker, and her chest and backside were as voluptous as Grandine’s due to biological modifications with hormones to compensate for the side effects of her malnutrition.
Her hair was now purple with golden strands and reached her shoulders, as her hair had been shaved to change her entire skeleton as it had been enhanced with a metallic skeleton as her former skeleton was breaking apart, and her eyes were golden with a gear shaped pupil.
On her nape, there was a circular mana gem connected to a circular ring attached to the skin with countless runes engraved on the ring.
Robin had been at her side ever since the operation had finished, and had been the one most caring towards her as she adapted to her new body. It was clear that Robin was a sort of parent for Ivy now, or so both felt, as they bonded over the days and the clear desire to help that the elf had for the girl he had rescued.
But now, she was going with Pik for a moment, as Pik said that it would help her esteem to not always go with Robin across the cave.
“Seems like all works perfectly, no, Ivy?” Pik said as she smiled.
“Y-yes. Still feels a bit weird to walk like this.” Ivy said, clearly nervous as she was going without anyone holding her hand, as she balanced herself perfectly.
“Oh, don’t worry too much. Also, you want to be of use to Robin, right?” Pik said as she smirked, clearly aiming to tease Ivy.
“W-Well… He saved me from a sure death, and he is so nice to me!” Ivy said as she quickly reddened, while strutting as she lost focus and the software took over her conscious method of walking.
“Ah, you sure are like a cute and shy daughter for Robin. It’s nice, and I am sure that Evan would probably tease Robin about it. I heard you two are going to a party that a guard who is a noble is throwing. I would advise you two to not go, though.” Pik said as she followed Ivy.
“I just need a bit of time to adjust to the bland style of walking! I can’t just stay there, holding back Robin!” Ivy said as she reddened even more.
“Look, the software itself reacts to how you feel. If you are feeling nervous, or overloaded, because you get embarrassed: The software will take it as you want to seduce the target and go full strut mode. The magic corp was the one who crafted the spine prosthetic software you are using, mainly because if I used the one Evan developed.. You might as well strangle Robin in his sleep." Pik explained calmly.
Ivy simply pouted at Pik’s words, as she had become used to Pik’s teasing her and being a sort of big sister for her. Even though a few times, Ivy returned fire by calling her auntie (a thing Pik gained a dislike towards after Gio laughed his ass off when he heard it) and clearly both had a sibling relationship by now.
“It’s not because of the software, either way. It’s because JoyJay sent me a message with his tech. Evan is going to that party, with the archbishop Caroline, and he feels like Evan will go off in that party. And by going off, I mean that he’ll make a bloodbath. That insane bastard hates bureaucracy and parties like that one, he hates them so much that it’s a wonder he decided to go.” Pik said with a worried look.
“Yeah, but we have to go there to investigate the supposed illegal trading business Robin heard about.” Ivy said, clearly nervous about what she had heard.
“Then, I guess I did the good choice by getting you to come with me today. I used a favor that I was saving for something really different, to help you two jackasses out. I called an old friend, and I asked her to cover you two during the party. And she chose to bring a friend of hers.” Pik said as she patted Ivy’s head.
“Oh, I see. So when we will meet that friend?” Ivy said as she tilted her head.
“Well, Robin knows them both. But I made a sort of deal. Even if the favor is called in, another thing is to cover a jackass like Robin. He has a tendency of getting into trouble, no matter what you do to prevent it. We both know that, yeah?” Pik said as she got hold of Ivy, and grabbed a small mana crystal with a faint purple light inside the crystal.
“Yeah, he sure is like that.” Ivy said, before chuckling nervously.
“Well, so since the girl knows that too: She wanted to meet the new companion of Robin, and some upgrades. You can partake in them too, but I wouldn’t go for it so happily if I were you. They are permanent.” Pik said as she smirked.
“Oh, okay.” Ivy said as she nodded.
Then, without any previous warning, Pik crushed the crystal as the purple hue surrounded both girls and covered their surroundings. Then both appeared in a white room, with several stretchers and with enough steam to cover those inside, which seemed like a sort of spa room with porcelain tiles acting as both floor and wall.
On one of the stretchers, there was an elven woman with long blonde hair, rosy skin, hazel eyes, an almost flat chest, a round backside, and no scars on her skin. This woman simply looked at Pik, as she looked at her with a wide grin, and giggled.
Besides this woman, there was a rather small dwarven woman with long brown hair, braided to look like a beard as it covered her neck, clearly voluptuous to the point of being bigger than Grandine herself, black eyes, and plump lips.
“Thundy! Kilsha!” Pik exclaimed as she smiled widely.
“Pik! Finally, you got the little one around, get her on a stretcher. If she’s using prosthetics: She might as well get some tattoos too! Especially if she’s working with Robin. She’ll need some resistance to magic and physical attacks. Also, resistance to curses, poison, and charm will come in handy for her. Because I don’t think she has the Evergreen lungs.” The elven woman said, while grinning at Pik.
“Let her get used to the body before she gets tatted up. Also, Thundy, you told me you had a handful of skill affinity orbs. Do you have them here?” Pik said at the elf, as she smiled.
“Did you bring the stuff for the tattoo? If so, yes.” Thundy replied as she relaxed, and a massive wooden box filled with crystalline orbs of different colors.
“Wonderful, I will pick a few that are good for Ivy here, Thundy. Once she has them, she can very well start building up her own build. After that, she might get tatted up.” Pik said as she smiled widely.
“Yeah, well, on a small extra. I want to see her first tattoo. You are one of the finest, if we do take out Nigredo or Aniette. I got you frost spearman, spearman, gazer, spotter, and a good batch of the usual survival and sneaking skills. Good if she is going to use a spear. Since she has prosthetics, I suppose she’s out of magic skills, so I didn’t bring any of the magic skills. These cost a fortune, rich boys and girls pay gold coins for this. Unless a few I added for fun.” Thundy said as she relaxed.
“Why did you take the fun ones, Thundy?” The dwarven known as Kilsha asked, as she looked at the elf.
“Because it turns out that the little Ivy can acquire skill trees with money. Probably costs a fortune and a half each, but it’s worth it. And with the prosthetics, might as well be a good choice, since most of the physical skills that are good for info acquirement are either hard on the money or really varied.” Thundy replied as she moved to see Kilsha.
Ivy simply blushed brightly, and got onto one of the stretchers while quietly taking off her clothes as she covered herself with a white towel she found on the ground. She wasn’t used to any of this, but she already had a solid idea on what she wanted to acquire with a mana tattoo, yet it wouldn’t stop her from trying out the mana tattoo today.
“In my case, I want resistance to magic, alongside illusions, poison, and charm. Also, if possible, mana regeneration. I know that I have some prosthetics that help with illusions and charms, but you never know when an extra help comes in handy.” Ivy said, with a determined tone, as she was red as a beet.
“Good ideas for a first tattoo. I can manage, I will put it on your back. With the best quality materials we have, you should have a 100 MP per minute regeneration speed plus a 100 HP per minute. And add to that a 25% resistance to charm, illusions, and magic. It’s not immunity, but between magic resistance and those two, pretty much you have a 50% resistance to charm and illusions. So in case they manage to get through the eyes, you are pretty much prone to just resist it. Also, I am giving you immunity to poison. It’s doable with good materials.” Pik said as she pulled out a very long needle made of bones of a monster, which released a thick mist of mana as it was enchanted to pierce all kinds of skin, change the ink color, and to limit the amount of ink used in each part of the body, and a small pot filled with white ink.
“Thank you, Pik.” Ivy said, clearly grateful for the help she had received up until now.
“Don’t worry about it. Consider it my own support for you, in case you face Evan. Robin is a jackass and he doesn’t use mana tattoos. Just like most of the Free Alliance, but pretty much almost none of them need this. Especially Evan. If he got one, we are pretty much dead gals.” Pik said as she walked near Ivy, and started using the needle to make the tattoo on Ivy’s back.
“Ouch! Shouldn’t I get an anesthetic or something like that!?” Ivy asked as she recoiled slightly due to the pain she was feeling.
This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.
“Nope. Mana tattoos get hard to control if they are added while drugged. So bear with it, and let me do my job. I will make it extra beautiful, so you could use it to tease your future boyfriend.” Pik said, as she continued her duty, while making sure to hold Ivy down as much as possible.
Ivy stayed silent as she was getting the tattoo, but Thundy and Kilsha were looking intently at Ivy while smirking.
“Either way, Evan is going to a party and jackass number one Robin is going too? That means that place will become a warzone, you know that, Pik.” Kilsha said as she looked at Pik.
“Oh, shush. I know, this is why I am prepping this first. The first time annoys a lot more than the second and next times. You two already have three tattoos already, so you all will be up and running by the time to go see what bloodbath Evan makes out of a noble party.” Pik said as she scoffed, while drawing the tattoo.
“Well, you are right on that. Evan will probably cause some chaos. That guy and chaos is like bread and butter.” Thundy said as she giggled.
“Yeah, the guy doesn’t stay silent when he’s annoyed. And the king probably annoyed him way too much. I am pretty sure no one told him about the deal, so just lie low. Once Evan gets the country, we can pretty much enjoy vacations there. We might even get simple jobs to do.” Kilsha said as she relaxed.
“You forget how many people messed with Evan’s family and friends. Pretty much the world will become chaotic once he learns of this, and has his armies going.” Thundy said as she stretched a bit.
Meanwhile, Pik had finished the tattoo on Ivy’s back, which was a massive tribal tattoo that was shaped as thorns that went from her neck to her backside, with red roses flourishing on the end of the thorns and making a bed of roses just above Ivy’s backside.
“Well, I am done with Ivy. Either way, any other juicy info?” Pik said as she looked at Thundy and Kilsha.
“Kilsha is about to get married. And I am still lonely, as usual, because I look like a loli.” Thundy said as she pouted.
“And you could get that fancy pretty boy I introduced you. He is a bull beastkin, and he is quite sturdy. So you could go all thundere on him, and electrocute him. Also, probably would have your brain short-circuiting after the first night.” Kilsha said as she smirked, only to receive a powerful thunderbolt that came out of Thundy’s right middle finger as she flipped off the dwarf while blushing brightly.
Ivy looked surprised at the entire interaction, even if it was a way to ignore the pain, but she found herself just chuckling to the entire situation. Which did surprise her even more, as she never found a good reason to laugh until this moment.
“Well, at least the girl found a good reason to laugh.” Kilsha said as her body shivered due to the shock caused by the thunderbolt.
“Better than her just getting worried. Also, congrats Kilsha. I heard that it was a pretty boy from Krebs.” Pik said as she smiled at the dwarf.
“Aye, the boy is a regional lord. His father died, but I never thought the deal would bite my arse like that. I hoped the boy would be married off to someone else before his father died. That said, he’s so nice and caring.” Kilsha explained, as she smiled widely.
“Great! At least he’s nice. In my case, I am just lonely and stuck with Gio. So it was so boring until Ivy and Robin arrived. Also, Robin has changed a lot!” Pik said as she smiled widely.
“I was thinking that, being honest. Robin not being a jackass by kidnapping a bad girl, and making photos of the girl as the damnable paparazzo he is? For a moment I thought that Evan got to him and turned him into a Sunken Guardian. They all tend to be far better than what the previous body owners were.” Thundy said as Pik got near her to start drawing a tattoo on her back. ‘Shame they are not really interested in love, I wouldn’t mind getting Rubedo. A kind, caring, and efficient husband who would be like a butler. Yep, that seems like paradise.’ Thundy thought as she imagined her life with a husband that was similar to Rubedo.
“Yeah, Robin is like that after all. But probably this time he’ll just get an assistant for those sorts of paparazzi work and the investigation journal. Either way, what’s Robin plan this time?” Kilsha said as she relaxed on the stretcher.
“He plans on catching the sister of Josh red-handed with some dealings with a succubus, and get a lot of money out of the scoop. Also, Josh is suspected to have something to do with illegal slavery. Knowing him: If it’s related to Ivy, he might investigate and maybe kill the bastard if he got something to do with her enslavement.” Pik answered Kilsha’s question, as she was drawing a massive dragon circling on Thundy’s back.
“Doting dad. He is totally a dad by now.” Kilsha commented, while looking at Ivy. ‘Who would have thought that jackass would have chosen to be a dad? Not me. But if he’s like that, I am sure that the boy who tries dating Ivy will die painfully at the hands of Robin. He has been way too close to the resident psycho of the Free Alliance, Evan.’ Kilsha thought as she shivered in fear of Evan.
“And he’s going near Evan. Doting dads together. If Crelens stays in one piece after those two go off, I can literally consider that maybe they have more tech than the elves are bragging about.” Thundy said as she relaxed, allowing Pik to keep tattooing without any problem.
And so the girls spoke for several hours, before the time the girls had to part to do their own preparations for the party. Ivy and Pik went back to the underground base with a bag filled of skill affinity orbs, fully dressed, as Ivy made sure to show the tattoo to Robin as if she was a cute daughter showing off a piece of art.
Robin merely patted Ivy’s head, as he was glad that the young gold lord was happy, while glaring at Pik as if he was the father of an innocent girl with a rather mischievous aunt.
