Raditz fights back laughter as he stares at the small, aged journal in front of his eyes. His amusement quickly fades as he continues reading, and he soon realizes that the journal is not joking, as it immediately launches into a disturbingly detailed description of the quickest, easiest, most painless ways for Raditz to end his own life, along with the best methods to deal with the aftermath. After several uninterrupted minutes of reading (which, given how fast he's able to flip through the pages, causes him to wonder if the journal is a bit more special than he originally believed), the journal finally moves on from talks of Raditz killing himself.
...but I know that you won't actually do that, even if it's at the words of your future self. Dying isn't fun, and knowing that it won't be permanent isn't enough to change that fact. You will die, no doubt about that, but it won't be because you choose to. Since you aren't going to follow my advice, I may as well share some knowledge that you'll actually use...
I'm going to tell you about the System's Punishments.
When you had previously read the rest of this journal, I'm sure that one of the biggest mysteries was how exactly I lose to the Androids. After all, I should have the help of the System, along with knowledge of the future. You're almost at the level of Frieza after less than 5 years, with most of it spent lazing around, while I've had over a decade of time to train. Logically, I should be able to easily destroy the Androids... and yet I can't.
A lot of things have changed, to the point where the future will be completely different from the original DBZ story... and yet the System still hasn't punished you. Don't get me wrong, you've come dangerously close to pissing off the God I talked about, but he hasn't really been annoyed enough to actually step in... it wasn't like that for me.
You see, you've had a small misunderstanding this entire time about the System's goals. We're here as entertainment for the God that made the System. He wants the Universe to follow the DBZ story... but that's because he knows that he'll be entertained by the original story. If you can be entertaining enough, and keep things from going off the rails too much, you can change things while avoiding any punishments from the System. Unfortunately... I wasn't very entertaining, and I changed things too much.
Hell is not similar to what we see in the original DBZ. It's closer to the more popular version you'd see in most media... that being eternal punishment and whatnot. When I first died to Vegeta, I was forced to spend several months in Hell. The experience changed me. When I was wished back, I was far weaker, or at least, weaker mentally. I was able to train with the others, and I was eventually able to use this experience to push myself to become stronger, but I wasn't able to get the memories of Hell out of my mind. I was barely able to keep myself together, and the only reason I was able to function was because of Kakarot and Gohan. When I turned into a Golden Oozaru and killed all of Earth's warriors... I spiraled even further.
I'm not sure if it was Gohan's death that triggered it, or if watching a depressed Saiyan mope around wasn't entertaining enough, but a few days after I had de-transformed from the Golden Oozaru transformation, the System gave me my first 'Punishment Quest.' Until I had managed to severely wound one of the remaining Androids, my strength would remain static. I couldn't grow any stronger.
Trust me, you should try to avoid anything that would cause the System to issue a Punishment Quest. I have a feeling that locking down further growth isn't the worst punishment the System can give.
Regardless of whether or not you heed my advice, I do have one more thing that could help you. Although my strength couldn't increase, my skills and knowledge certainly could, and of course, I have a small gift from the System that I know you'll enjoy...
Raditz turns the page, and what he sees immediately causes his eyes to shoot up in shock. Soon after, his mouth curls into a satisfied grin as he continues his read.
An Expert's Guide to Ki Control: Written by &*@!)6t#$
In the previous guide, you learnt about the more advanced forms of Ki and chose to read more about Good Ki. On top of that, you learnt several methods to improve your Ki control, along with ways to use your Ki to heal yourself and create matter out of your Ki. In this guide, I will expand on what you've previously decided to focus on, detail several exercises to further improve your Ki control and concentration, and allow you to choose between two paths, with both of them being enough to drastically improve your fighting style.
Before Raditz can read any further, he pauses, suddenly feeling extremely nervous.
'Hey System... if I continue reading and learn about what the future me chose, and then choose the other path when I kill Cooler... you aren't gonna punish me or anything like that... right?'
...
'I'll take that as a "no Raditz, keep reading. You're fine!"'
...
Given hope by the System's silence, Raditz turns his gaze back towards the old journal in his hand...
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
You had previously decided to focus on Good Ki as opposed to Evil Ki or Synthetic Ki. The two techniques taught to you due to this decision were the Self Healing and Imitation Creation techniques. As you may have guessed, these are some of the most basic techniques of their kind. Although impressive, Imitation Creation and Self Healing cannot compare to the creation abilities of the Kai, or a Namekian's regeneration. The things you'll learn in this guide will allow you to directly upgrade these techniques. Self Healing will transform into Body Conditioning, while Imitation Creation will transform into Creation.
Creation is a powerful technique, and one that can only be used by by beings with Divine Ki, also known as God Ki. The most common way to obtain God Ki is to purify your Ki to an outrageous degree, but of course, that's not the only way to obtain this type of Ki. Some beings, such as the Kai, are born with Ki that is far, far more potent than any other race. This is Divine Ki, but of a weaker kind than one would gain by purifying their Ki to the limits. To gain access to the Creation technique, you must first possess Divine Ki. Although you were not born as a Kai, it is still possible to mimic their Ki. If you choose to upgrade your Imitation Creation technique to Creation, you'll also learn a technique that can inject a hint of divinity into your Ki. This will cause your Ki to be far harder to sense, along with providing access to techniques used by the Kai, and of course, giving you a general boost in power.
Body Conditioning, as the name may suggest, uses Your Ki to condition your body to become far, far more powerful. Unlike most techniques that strengthen your body, this technique is a gradual process, and will passively temper your body over time. The purer and denser your Ki, the quicker your body's strength will grow. Eventually, you'll get to a point where, even completely devoid of Ki, you'll easily be able to destroy a star with the pure power of your physical attacks.
The introduction to this technique is abruptly interrupted by a small note, seemingly from the future Raditz.
This sounds a lot like some kind of Body Cultivation thing you'll see in Chinese cultivation novels, huh? This is the one I ended up going for. I realized that, given that I was in the 'bad' timeline, I wouldn't be able to train as much as I wanted to due to the Android's interference. Something that allowed me to slowly grow stronger was perfect... but the Punishment Mission threw a wrench into that plan.
The small note ends, allowing the guide's description of Body Conditioning to continue.
Now, this is certainly impressive, but so far, it doesn't seem to hold a candle to the benefits you'll gain if you choose to upgrade your Imitation Creation technique, but that's because I've only talked about the passive aspect of Body Conditioning. The most impressive aspect of Body Conditioning comes when you actively control the Ki that's improving your body. With enough focus, you can influence each and every cell, imbuing them with Ki in an instant to achieve fantastic results. For example, you could use the Self Healing technique you learnt on each individual cell at the same time, effectively giving you a Namekian's regeneration for a short period of time. Of course, the Ki cost is immense, but with certain techniques that you'll learn if you choose to upgrade the Self Healing technique, this penalty can be minimized.
The choice was obvious to me, and I haven't regretted it since. A new note says.
After the System's description of the Body Conditioning technique, I'll write down my own experiences and thoughts on fighting, especially fighting with a sword. If you study it well, it should multiply your fighting skills, and give you a pretty good idea on how to fight using a sword. Feel free to share these with the Earthlings, the System will warn you if you're taking things too far. If you keep it up after the warnings, then it'll issue a Punishment Quest.
Raditz nods his head as the journal continues on, going into extreme detail about the Body Conditioning technique, along with several techniques that will aid it. After a few uninterrupted minutes of reading, he finds his thoughts drifting from the old journal.
'Man... this really is like Body Cultivation! Even though having 'a hint of divinity' in my Ki sounds badass... all of the cultivation novels I used to read had the MCs use Body Cultivation! For whatever reason, everyone else in those Universes seemed to look down on it, and the MC was the only one to actually utilize it! They always succeeded, and so will I! The future me made a fantastic choice...' the one-armed Saiyan thinks, grinning to himself as a new idea suddenly pops into his head.
With a wave of his hand, a few clean, fresh pieces of paper suddenly appear in the air. Soon after, a fountain pen joins them. Putting the first paper on a small table near the bed he sits on, Raditz begins copying techniques from the various Ki guides the System has given him...
...
...
"Uh...... what're you drawing?" a confused voice says several minutes later.
Raditz, with a grim expression on his face, stares down at the paper in front of him... filled with completely unreadable words.
Not unreadable because of the System censoring what he's writing, no, but unreadable because...
"I'm left handed. I am also missing my left hand." Raditz says sourly.
"Oh..." the Kai trails off, feeling extremely awkward at the Saiyan's answer. "I'll... talk to you later."
The blue man turns his attention away from Raditz, instead focusing on the other two figures on the ship. One of which sits down, meditating peacefully, while the other relentlessly trains by himself.
Gohan quickly jumps back, startled, as King Kai's voice appears in his head.
"...You've been at it for a while. Maybe you should take a break? While you're at it, you should go help your Uncle. He's having... issues."
The young Half-Saiyan, upon hearing that his Uncle needs help, immediately stops training, instead rushing to the room where his Uncle is staying. Upon opening the door to the room, he sees the tall, one-armed man standing above a small bed-side table covered in papers. Raditz stares down at these papers, his one remaining hand clenched in rage as a vein bulges in his forehead.
"Um... Uncle Raditz?" Gohan asks curiously. "What're you doing?"
The beefy Saiyan turns towards his nephew, forcing himself to calm down.
"I'm copying techniques I've learnt from the future Raditz for the Earthlings." he says in an even voice. "I'm having a little trouble so far, but I'll be able to get it figured out in no time."
Gohan gives a doubtful look at the chicken scratch writing on the papers.
"Do you want any help?"
"..."
A large sigh makes its way out of Raditz as he stares at his nephew.
"...Yes please."
With a wide grin on his face, the young child takes the pen from his Uncle's hand, hurriedly jotting down words on the papers as Raditz explains what he wants Gohan to write.
