Raditz yawns as he stares at the blue screen in front of him. The new guide he got is extremely informative, sure, but there's one big problem with it...
It is really fucking boring.
After the guide taught Raditz how to create objects out of Ki, it began to detail several exercises to increase Ki capacity. The usefulness of these techniques surprised him, as Raditz began to see results after only a day of practice. The only bad part about the exercises is that the words the guide used were extraordinarily bland. Dozens of pages go over each technique and exercise, comparing and contrasting them to the ones he learnt in the Beginner's Guide to Ki Control. Raditz finally finished the long-winded chapters, and was excited to continue on to the guide's Telepathy technique. Except...
...it was useless to him. The guide described the Telepathy technique he learnt on Thrunot, the planet he crash landed on after fleeing Earth.
Surprisingly, this is actually worse than the technique he uses now. While Raditz's Telepathy had originally been very crude and unpolished, it slowly but surely grew as he constantly practiced it. Without even realizing it, he had made an extremely impressive technique on his own, and he didn't even have to rely on the System! This news brought him a ton of joy, which was quickly crushed as he scrolled to the next page...
The guide describes several different meditative exercises to strengthen his mind, and, exactly like the previous exercises it taught him, they are extremely uninteresting to learn.
'Maybe it's a good thing that I can't move... I doubt I'd willingly read this shit if I had anything better to do...'
More hours pass, and he eventually masters the new exercises as well. Even though the guide is a boring read, it is a good teacher. Raditz doubts that he'd have thought up these exercises on his own... at least, not anytime soon. Even if he had thought them up, he's sure that he wouldn't have mastered them as quickly as he has now. Before he can move on to the next part of the guide, he hears groaning from the bed next to him. Turning his head so that his good eye can see the bed, he begins to watch as Goku slowly awakens.
The injured Saiyan thrashes around for a few moments, before his eyes finally open. He looks around in confusion, eyes falling on Raditz. When Goku opens his mouth to speak, Raditz suddenly interrupts the martial artist.
"We've been using Telepathy to talk to each other for the past few weeks, you've just forgotten. To answer the questions you no doubt have, the Earthlings are going to Namek to use their Dragon Balls, and I'm not planning to take over your planet. Talk to King Kai, he'll fill you in on what else you've missed."
Goku's mouth closes, and a look of concentration appears on his face. As the younger Saiyan converses with King Kai, Raditz turns his attention back to the blue screen in front of him.
Healing is one of the most difficult skills you can master, but it is also one of the most rewarding. Healing others is significantly more difficult than healing yourself, but that doesn't mean that learning to heal yourself will be easy. Quite the opposite, in fact. While your body will passively heal over time, actively healing yourself requires you to force your Ki into the wound or injury. Once you've packed enough Ki into the damaged part of your body, you must use the life energy found in the Ki to restore your body to its un-injured state. While this may sound simple on paper, it is far more difficult in practice, requiring you to have a very good grasp on how your body works. Your body knows how it should be healed, and will reject your Ki if you aren't precise enough. This is for the best, as it prevents you from messing up your body further by healing it incorrectly.
At your current level, you most likely won't be able to instantly heal your wounds, no matter how small they may be. Even if you understand your body perfectly, your Ki is neither dense enough or pure enough to actually heal your wounds. A good way to circumvent this is to speed up the natural healing process by a comparatively small amount. Instead of pumping Ki into the wound in an attempt to instantly heal it, you should instead circulate your Ki around the injury at high speeds. You cannot allow the Ki to flow naturally, you must cause it to flow around the wound, instead of through your Ki veins as it normally would. The faster you circulate it, the more energy you'll burn, and the faster your body will heal the damage. However, unlike the proper healing technique, speeding up your body's natural healing does come at a risk. If you don't have enough energy, circulating your Ki will just cause you to die quicker. On top of that, it is possible for your body to heal incorrectly. If a bone isn't properly set in place, it could become deformed once you heal it. This also applies to your Ki veins. If they aren't healed exactly as they should be, you may cripple yourself on accident.
'The second part of this technique seems to be regeneration, as opposed to actual healing. I wonder how it compares to a Namekian's regeneration? Actually... holy shit! What if this stacks with a Namekian's natural regeneration?! The technique said that it "speeds up the natural healing process." A Namekian's natural healing process is far faster than a Saiyan's. If Piccolo used this technique... wouldn't his healing be closer to Cell's, or maybe even Majin Buu's in terms of strength?!'
Now that you've learnt the theory behind speeding up your body's natural healing process, why don't you try it out for yourself? Give your hand a small cut, and attempt to increase the speed at which it heals. Remember, circulate the Ki around the wound, don't let your Ki go inside it.

'Ugh. This is probably going to drain all my Ki, like the earlier technique did. Well... here goes nothing.'
With extremely precise Ki control, Raditz makes what is essentially a miniature Destructo Disc. Due to its small size, the Ki disc doesn't have anywhere near enough power to actually harm him if he resists in any way, but if he forces all of the Ki out of a specific area of his body, his skin should be just weak enough for the attack to penetrate it.
After cutting off the pain signals he'll receive from his hand, Raditz launches the tiny Ki attack at himself. Soon, he is left with a small cut in the palm of his hand, almost like a paper cut. After watching the tiny cut for a moment, he orders his Ki to rush into his hand, and forces it to flow from his Ki veins towards the wound, making sure not to let a drop of Ki actually touch the cut. Keeping the Ki flowing in the way he wants it to takes a mind-boggling amount of concentration. He doesn't even notice when the cut begins to close up. Soon after he began circulating his Ki, he is jolted out of his concentration by a loud Ding!
Quest Complete!
You have gained: Basic Self Healing.
Lucky for Raditz, the wound is gone when his concentration slips. Instead of filling the cut, the Ki instead flows back into his Ki veins.
To Raditz's surprise, he feels almost completely full on Ki, having used less than 1% to heal the cut.
'I guess the downside to this technique is the need to focus...'
In his excitement, Raditz scrolls down in the guide, reaching the next page. He almost cries when he sees that the next few pages are filled with mind-numbingly boring descriptions of exercises to increase concentration.
'Just a few more exercises... one more set of boring descriptions after this, and I'll finally be finished with this stupid guide.' he thinks miserably.
...
It's been just over a week since Raditz first woke up, and he's not in a good mood. As if the boring-ass guide wasn't bad enough, Kakarot has been trying to strike up a conversation with him almost constantly, shattering his concentration several times. Because of this, it has taken him far longer to master the exercises detailed in the guide, causing him to have to reread the bland pages over and over. After several days of extremely boring practice, Raditz finally recovered his memories of his unconscious conversations with Kakarot. Much to his relief, the conversations were exactly as the younger Saiyan described. Most of them were centered around making sure that Raditz wasn't evil, while the rest were filled with the two Saiyans talking about training and fighting techniques. As expected, his little brother is very knowledgeable when it comes to those two topics, and Raditz found that his own training sped up after he regained these memories. It turns out, having a literal martial arts master to talk to about training really comes in handy.
Eventually, Raditz has finished learning the newest set of exercises and finally moves on from the chapter, beginning a new chapter about Ki shields.
Ki shields are a vital part of any fighter's arsenal of techniques, and are useful for more than just protecting yourself from an enemy's attacks. There are two types of Ki shields. "Active shields" and "passive shields." Active shields, as the name suggests, require a fighter to consciously use their Ki to project an energy shield outside of their body. This is done by simply pushing the Ki in your body outwards, like you would when forming a Ki blast, then stretching that Ki into whatever shape you wish. The durability and size of the shield depends on how much energy you put into it. You must constantly feed the shield energy to keep it up. If you stop pumping Ki into it, it will disperse into Natural Ki. The technique is extremely simple, but still more difficult to do than a normal Ki blast.
Passive Ki shields usually happen instinctively. Have you ever wondered why powerful warriors don't accidently destroy the planets they fight on? Well, the answer lies in passive Ki shields. You see, while a fighter's body will naturally produce Ki, it will also naturally leak Ki into the air. Only those with outstanding Ki control can keep themselves from leaking Ki. The Ki that leaks from a fighter's body will bleed into the area around them, strengthening it immensely. While this technique keeps the planet safe from accidental attacks, it does little to protect from purposeful attacks. If a powerful warrior consciously attempts to destroy the planet they're on, passive Ki shields will be worthless. While it is technically possible to purposefully infuse the battlefield with Ki, it will be an extreme waste. After a certain level, the planet's durability will stop increasing. Therefore, it would be more worthwhile to create an active Ki shield to block whatever attack the opponent is sending towards the planet. Why don't you try to create an active Ki shield now?
Raditz waits expectantly as he reads that. After several seconds, a frown appears on his face.
'Hey System... where's the quest? Shouldn't I get a quest for this?'
The System is silent.
'I guess not...'
With a sigh, he turns his attention back to the guide, strengthening his resolve to continue reading...

Raditz stares at his character sheet in satisfaction. It's been a month since the fight with Vegeta, and Korin's Senzu Beans are ready. In just a few short hours, Yajirobe should arrive with the beans, allowing him to finally get out of this hospital.
A week has passed since he finished reading the Intermediate's Guide to Ki Control, and the exercises he's learnt have caused his progress to skyrocket. The last few dozen pages described exercises to increase Ki control, Ki density, and Ki purity, and they've caused his power to grow immensely. His Ki control alone has doubled, while his Ki related skills have massively increased in levels. A few of them have even reached the next rank.
After finishing the guide, he had nothing to do except practice, practice, practice. If it wasn't for the Saiyan in the bed next to him, then Raditz's stay in the hospital would've been hellish. The Saiyan from Earth kept Raditz entertained, constantly barraging him with telepathic questions and comments. While he was annoyed at first... he came to realize that talking to Kakarot was one of the only things that kept him sane. It's been said that Humans are social creatures, and the same seems to be true for Saiyans. Having a family, even one that he barely knows is... quite nice. As the door opens, and a fat Earthling enters the room, Raditz makes a decision.
'You know what? Maybe going to Namek with him is for the best...'
