Raditz gently floats above Orange City with a blissful expression on his face. Ignoring the phantom pain from his left arm's stump, he slowly raises the black cup in his right hand to his mouth.
"I really shouldn't have taught you how to make that." King Kai says bitterly.
The one-armed Saiyan chuckles at the voice, before draining the rest of the cup. He smacks his lips together in satisfaction as he replies.
"Come on, it is good training. What better way to get used to creating and holding Katchin than to start small?" Raditz asks, slowly lowering the cup in his hand.
Katchin was much, much heavier than Raditz had expected. Even though he assumed that it would weigh more than it did in the Anime, he never would've guessed exactly how much he'd struggle to lift it. When he first successfully created a piece of Katchin, the sheer weight of it almost dislocated his arm, and that was just a tiny piece! But now, after almost an entire year of constantly creating and lifting pieces of Katchin, he's finally done it. He's finally figured out how to change the shape his Katchin is created in, much to King Kai's displeasure...
"I would understand if you made the Katchin into a weapon, or hell, I'd even understand if you used it as building materials, but... a cup?!?! Really?! That's one of the rarest, most durable materials in the Universe! In all the Universes! And you're using it to hold your drink while you relax?!"
"It's amazing training!" Raditz argues. "I'd be relaxing in the skies either way, I might as well get a little bit of training in while I fly!"
"I can't believe we're having this conversation. Anyone who actually knows how valuable Katchin is would kill for that cup you're drinking out of!"
"And how many of them are actually able to kill me? I'm one of the strongest beings in the Universe, and I--"
The tall Saiyan suddenly cuts off as he senses an immense power level, one that completely drowns out his Ki senses. He scowls in displeasure after several seconds.
'Of course he's back...' Raditz thinks sourly as he stares into the distance.
A split second later, a short, eager looking man with spiky black hair appears in front of Raditz. The newcomer grins arrogantly when he sees the one-armed Saiyan... and his arrogant smile quickly turns into a confused frown when he actually gets a good look at Raditz.
"W-What?! Your arm... why haven't you grown it back?!" Vegeta says, shocked.
Raditz shrugs, before replying in a bored tone. "I overestimated my self-healing technique. It'll take me a little longer to finish regrowing my arm."
Vegeta stares at the taller man for several seconds, his mouth stuck in an O shape from shock, before he shakes himself out of his surprise.
"Hmph, no matter. I'll simply collect those Dragon Balls and wish your arm back. Then we can finish things!"
"Heh... good luck with that."
The long-haired Saiyan waves Vegeta off, refilling his cup with a small smirk on his face.
Soon after, Vegeta speeds off, searching Earth for the Dragon Balls.
...
...
...
Hours pass by in blissful silence as Raditz relaxes in the sun with a small smile on his face, uncaring for anything around him. Unfortunately, the silence can't last forever, as a loud, furious voice pierces his ears.
"These Dragon Balls aren't working! Fix them so we can settle things!" Vegeta demands.
"Oh? You found them already?" Raditz replies, slightly surprised.
"Of course I found them, but something is wrong with them! Look!"
Vegeta disappears for a split second, before suddenly reappearing with a small backpack in his hands. After unzipping it, he reveals the contents...
Inside the backpack sit 7 small, perfectly round stones.
"..."
Raditz stares at the stones, fighting back laughter.
"You've been on this planet for over a year now. You must know how to fix them!"
"Hehe-- maybe-- ha!-- maybe these aren't the Dragon Balls. They just look like regular stones to me."
"Don't try and lie to me, fool!" the short Saiyan shouts as he gets in Raditz's face. "No stone is this round. They must be the Dragon Balls!"
"Oh, right!" the one-armed Saiyan exclaims, slapping the palm of his hand against his forehead. "We used the Dragon Balls recently! After they're used, they turn to stone for a year. It must've slipped my mind. You'll have to wait about 9 months before they can be used again."
"What?!?!"
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
"Sorry about that. If I remembered, I would've told you before you tracked these down. They'll be useless stones for a while. I guess you won't be getting your wish anytime soon..."
"Y-You what?!" Vegeta stutters, shocked. "But your arm! If you didn't wish that back, then what the hell did you wish for?!?!"
"None of your business." Raditz says pleasantly. "Now if that's everything... shoo. Leave. You're blocking the sun."
"You... you dare mock me?!"
The furious Saiyan launches himself at Raditz, knocking the taller man back with a thunderous punch. Before he can follow up on his first attack, however, Raditz lifts a single finger, signaling for Vegeta to stop.
"You never change, do you?" he scoffs, stealthily gathering energy in the palm of his hand as he floats towards Vegeta. "Attacking a one-armed opponent without any warning is typical of you, I should've expected that you'd do something like this."
The short Saiyan grimaces, slowly unclenching his fists as he stares at the crippled man he just sucker-punched. "Tsk... if you had both arms, I'd kill you now for your arrogance... but I can't prove myself to be better than you if you can't fight at your full strength. I--"
Raditz abruptly cuts him off. "No no, we can settle things now. I don't need both arms to beat you..."
Vegeta grinds his teeth as he does his best to hold back his fury. Before he can respond to the taller man's provocation, Raditz continues speaking.
"...but if you truly want to make this fair, then I suppose we could both fight with one arm. Here, hold this for me."
The one-armed man dumps the contents of his black cup, then holds it out to the short Saiyan. A slightly confused Vegeta reaches out, taking the cup from Raditz...
As soon as the Saiyan Prince grabs the cup, more of the strange black material that makes up the cup appears, wrapping around his hand. He drops like a rock, screaming out in pain as his arm is roughly pulled downwards by the weight of the Katchin cup. Upon seeing this, Raditz reacts instantly, bringing his knee upwards to meet the falling Vegeta's chin. Then, while his opponent is still off balance, Raditz points his palm at the short man, releasing all the gathered Ki in a massive one-handed blast. Vegeta is sent hurtling towards Orange City, causing shouts of alarm to spread throughout the city as the nearby citizens react to the quickly-falling Saiyan...
But Raditz planned for this as well. He maxes out his speed with the Kasokudo, suddenly appearing under Vegeta as he falls, before he slams his fist into the stunned Saiyan. Vegeta is sent flying far, far away from the city by the impact of the blow. Raditz quickly gives chase, continuously pummeling the shorter warrior away from any of Earth's inhabited areas.
Tien's head jerks up from his pillow abruptly. With wide eyes, he stares off into the distance, shocked to his core.
'This power... that must be Raditz! And he's fighting... is that Vegeta?!' he thinks, jumping out of bed in a hurry.
"Chiaotzu! Get up!" he shouts, causing his voice to echo throughout the dojo.
"Tien, what's going on?!" the smaller martial artist shout from another room.
"Vegeta is back from his training, and from what I can sense, he's far stronger than anyone on Earth... even Goku. I don't know how it happened, but he's fighting against Raditz right now. We have to help!"
"Alright, let's hurry Tien!"
The two take off into the sky, expressions darkening as one of the massive power levels suddenly weakens.
Krillin scowls at the power levels he's sensing. In a flash, he's in the air, flying towards the battling duo.
'Dammit... I should've known this would happen... Vegeta has been training specifically to beat Raditz, of course he'd pick a fight as soon as he got back to Earth.' the bald warrior thinks, mentally kicking himself for letting something like this happen. 'Still, I never thought he'd be this strong! Can we even beat this guy...?'
Before he can continue this line of thinking, he spots a scarred, black-haired martial artist flying in the air. Without wasting any time, Krillin speeds up enough to fly next to the man.
"Krillin!" Yamcha exclaims, surprised. "Jeez, don't sneak up on me like that. With the power that those two are releasing, I can barely sense Goku, much less you! You're friends with Raditz, right? Do you know what's happening?"
Krillin shakes his head. "I doubt I know much more than you. All I know is that King Kai told Goku that Vegeta has finished his training, then Goku used that Instant Transmission technique to bring him back to Earth."
"Oh man... the only people on Earth that are that strong are Goku and Raditz, I thought that some new enemy ambushed one of them. If it's Vegeta... well, I don't know if that's better or worse than a new enemy."
"Yeah... at least a new enemy would be unfamiliar with our strongest moves and techniques, but with Vegeta... I can't expect my Destructo Disc to land unless we get really lucky."
"Should... should we just let them fight it out?" Yamcha suggests with a hint of hostility. "We both know how much of a grudge Vegeta has against Raditz, maybe he just wanted to get a little bit of revenge for how their last fight ended?"
Krillin stares at the taller martial artist incredulously. "Are you kidding?! Raditz has lazed around for over a year now, showing zero hostility towards us or Earth! What if Vegeta decides that he wants to kill Raditz as revenge?! What if he doesn't stop there, and decides to take over Earth? Like it or not, Raditz is one of the strongest warriors we have, and he's the only one who can match Vegeta if he turns into a Great Ape. We have to help him."
"Yeah, I know... but I just... I don't trust him. He killed Goku! He worked for that Frieza guy for years, conquering planet after planet, slaughtering countless people! Even King Kai said that he'll be going to Hell when he dies! Why not get rid of two birds with one stone?"
"That wish he made with the Dragon Balls a few months ago should prove that he's not the same man he was when he killed Goku." Krillin says quietly.
Yamcha's tone completely changes at the bald man's words. Soon after, he replies to Krillin with an ashamed expression on his face. "I... yeah, you're right... let's hurry up then! He needs our help!"
Suddenly, one of the two tremendous power levels they sense weakens immensely, causing them to speed up in grim silence.
"Dad! Hurry up!" Gohan yells, clinging onto his father's back as they fly. "Uncle Raditz is in danger! I can sense... I can sense Vegeta's fury, his bloodlust! He wants to kill Uncle Raditz!"
""I know!" Goku snaps, flying towards Raditz and Vegeta's location.
Goku's teeth clench as he senses the rapidly declining energy of one of the fighters.
'Dammit... hold on for just a few more seconds, Raditz!'
His speed increases even more as he pushes his body to its limits with the Kaioken.
Thunder booms above a desolate, abandoned wasteland. Rain clouds block out any sunlight as they pour their bounty onto the ground. In the middle of the wasteland, one Saiyan kneels on the chest of his defeated foe, raining punches down upon the unmoving figure.
Krillin and Yamcha, being the closest when the fight began, arrive first. They are quickly joined by Goku and Gohan. A split second later, Tien and Chiaotzu touch down on the wet dirt of the wasteland as well. The group stare at the scene in front of them with wide eyes, not believing what they're seeing...
Vegeta lays on his back, barely recognizable through the bloody mess that is his face. His hands, feet, and neck are completely surrounded by a strange black metal. Kneeling on top of his chest is Raditz, who continuously punches the Prince with his one remaining arm, sending large shockwaves throughout the area.
An awkward silence fills the air, before the long-haired Saiyan senses their presence. He turns towards the group with surprise evident on his face.
"Uh... he attacked me first."
