Chapter 283: Snow Fairy.

With my injuries and no manna to reinforce my body or help me heal, everything blurred together. Through some combination of the others working together, I ended up being patched up and eventually got a shower and a meal, but I had to push myself just to stay on my feet… And my pride wouldn’t let any of them carry me, not after all the work I put into making myself look strong.

By the time my mind fully cleared, and my dragons blood fully calmed down, I was lying in bed in a pool of my sweat. It was the middle of the night, but Mo and Isy were both by my side, and a cold damp cloth lay resting on my forehead, and under my neck.

My eyes moved back and forth as if they were glitching between orange and white tints, before finally breaking away entirely as my fever fully rescinded. From the information I gathered with my skills, and just how I felt. It seemed as though I wore myself ragged and got sick again… Only the dragon's blood attacked the sickness and completely scorched it, so in just a few hours I was healthy ‘I guess germs can’t survive temperatures hot enough to boil water…’

Taking a deep breath in I slid out of bed, all of my joints aching and swollen as I went to the bathroom to wash my face.

My eyes glowed a bright white, like staring at little dwarf stars, and the paint from the contest I went through several days ago had finally worn off, but the veins around my eyes were glowing a faint gold that shined from under my skin. I let out a heavy groan as I changed out of my sweaty clothes, pausing to stare at the scars that covered me from head to toe. Literally… Since I used to train barefoot so often…

I slowly bent my joints, all of the major ones being swollen from trauma. My hips ached deep inside the sockets from when my bones were rattled… And no doubt from when I was slapped with the hammer and sent flying as well. ‘Even with my magic… Isn’t it kind of lucky I didn’t tear anything? Athletes get hurt all the time doing stuff half as dangerous right? Although I guess wrestlers are all kind of freaks…’ I finished changing, pulling one of my gramma's oversized shirts over my head with a bit of effort, wearing it like a dress. ‘Well… I guess I can’t exactly say I’m uninjured… But if I can dress myself it’s not like it’s that bad right?’

Walking back out I yawned, changing the sheets on the bed, accidentally waking Mo, who was resting her head on it, despite kneeling on the floor. Instantly jumping to 100% thought capacity, Mo helped me finish. Isy no doubt needed to keep getting good rest as well, so we put her in bed to make sure she got a good night's rest, and after all that I finally felt ready to sleep. I was clean, cooled off but still warm, I was dry, and perhaps most importantly, I didn’t have to worry about anyone… At least that was how it was supposed to be…

Stolen story; please report.

As I crawled under the blankets Mo suddenly turned to walk out the door. “Hey… Where are you going?” I whispered.

She paused at the door, walking all the way back over so she wouldn’t have to raise her voice. “You’re better now, so I’ll head back to my room.”

“No… You should stay here.”

She slowly glanced to the side. “I’d really rather not.”

“After fighting in the tournament, everyone knows you are with us now, and I’m sure there will be people looking to try and weaken the guild that got first… We have to be careful now more than ever… So… At least make sure to lock your door this time please…”

She sighed, walking over to the door and pausing again before she turned around and sat on the floor. “Now you’ve made me nervous…” She grumbled. “Fine… I’ll stay…”

“On… The floor?”

“For now… This is the best spot to listen for footsteps outside.”

I slowly sat up, lifting the blanket off of me and throwing it over to my side “If someone does try to attack us, I’ll sense it before you do, even if I’m sleeping, so just come over here already… You’re hurt too, you need sleep.”

She groaned. “That bed isn’t meant for three people…”

“It’s designed to hold people bigger than Bear… I think it can fit three little girls…”

She groaned again finally conceding, I don’t want to get it dirty though… So I’ll change it first.

‘So… She wasn’t planning on spending the night… But she brought a change of clothes? Does that… Make any sense?’

She came out of the bathroom with her hair down wearing long sky-blue pants that had cloud designs dyed into the fabric towards the ankles, simply wrapping her chest instead of wearing a shirt. Although, she was so small that the wrap was plenty to cover most of her torso, instead of just her chest. ‘I get that she isn’t from a normal family… But I’m starting to feel like there really just is no sense of fashion in this country… It feels like everyone just kind of does their own thing.’

“Your staring…” She said bluntly.

“Am I?” I chuckled nervously.

“Your eyes glow in the dark, they’re easy to follow…”

“I see…” ‘Now more than ever… It really is apparent just how tiny she is…’

“I took a shower earlier, I think I got all the mud off, it took a while to get it out of my hair, but I should be clean.”

“What?” ‘Did she think I was worried she was dirty?’ “No, I was just thinking you looked cute. Your pants are cool, and you… Don’t have any scars… You really are just like a snow fairy.”

She was pulling her hair back, gathering it behind her ears when she froze in place at my words, her skin suddenly becoming covered with goosebumps. “Yeah well…” Her eyes bounced to the side as she slowly relaxed again, quickly getting over her embarrassment. “Thanks, I guess.”

‘I was thinking out loud again wasn’t I…’
