“What is this? Why am I seeing these particles all around me?” The young man wondered as he observed the light particles around him. “Why doesn’t anyone else seem to notice them?”
As the young man made his way to his apartment he could see those particles everywhere. The young man noticed that once inside his apartment the density of the particles dropped. As he laid in his bed he began to think what those particles could be and why he could see them, eventually sleep won over him and he fell into a deep slumber with no answer about the particles. The next morning as he walked around the park the man could feel some kind of energy coming from people, animals, and plants and that energy was similar to the one coming from the light particles. As time passed, he could feel that the amount of light particles began to increase leaving him puzzled as to where they were coming from.
As the month progressed the young man began to notice that the particles were now coming from the plants and some of them even started to disappear as the particles began to come from them. The young man became worried as he noticed that trees were beginning to disappear, but he knew he couldn’t do anything. On his way back he noticed a couple of kittens and their mother playing as they played, then the young man noticed particles dispersing from the kittens and their mom. The kittens quickly cuddled with their mom and as they meowed they along with their mother completely turned into particles.
“Prepare yourself for this marks the end” The young man could hear a female voice inside his head. He knew this situation was worrying so he sprinted to his apartment. On his way out of the park he could see some people hugging their pets as they and their pets turned into particles. The young man quickly opened his apartment door and grabbed his car keys. As he drove through the city the young man could see the density of the particles increased, which he guessed more living things were turning into particles. When he arrived at his parents house, he opened the door and found his parents sitting on the couch hugging each other. One look at his parents and the young man saw that they were slowly turning into particles.
“Jason, I am glad you came.” Jason’s mother gladly remarked. Jason’s parents approached him and hugged him tightly. “My precious son, I don’t know what is happening, but it looks like this is the end for us.”
Tears were streaming down from the three people hugging in the room. As his parents turned into particles. Jason heard both of his parents say, “Jason, we love you and we are happy to be your parents.” After his parents turned into particles, Jason was left alone in the world.
The amount of particles kept increasing and eventually Jason found himself in the void of space as the Earth itself turned into particles as well. Jason was surprised that even though he was in space he seemed fine. As the particles began to move away from Jason, he could feel the loss of everything he knew, he felt all alone. As he grieved Jason spotted a hooded figure, once the figure removed the hood Jason could see the face of a beautiful red-headed woman with blue eyes.
“My name is Anna.” Jason recognized her voice as the one that spoke to his mind earlier. “I am a Historian, a being who records the events of the cycles of the universe. And it looks like you will become my newest colleague. What is your name?”
“I am Jason. But what is this nonsense you are talking about?” Jason questioned.
“Take a look over there where all the Mana particles are gathering.” Anna said pointing towards the particles. “Those particles are the ones from all the worlds in this cycle of the universe and it just happens that your world was the last one to be turned into Mana particles. You are witnessing the end of an universe cycle as well as the beginning of a new one.”
“But why me? What happened to everyone else?” Jason said.
“I am not sure what decides who becomes a Historian, but everyone else turned into Mana and that Mana will be used to form the new worlds of the new cycle. And before you ask, I don't know why the cycles happened. Take a look at your first beginning of a cycle.” Anna said.
As Jason looked at the Mana particles gathered and condensed into a sphere he could but look in marvel at this process after a while the dense Mana sphere exploded and Mana particles were sent all throughout the universe. “This looks amazing.” Jason remarked
“This might be my fifth time witnessing this, but it is always beautiful. I still remember the time when I became a Historian after losing my two children and husband. The view of the new cycle starting imbued into my mind that we are part of something much bigger and that I was given the chance to preserve the memories and emotions of the ones I loved. You must remember although we record everything, only the emotions of the people we care about transcend the cycles” Anna said in a bittersweet tone.

“Anna, what am I supposed to do? How do I go on?” Jason asked.
“Jason, I will take you to the other Historians and we will teach you our ways. At the very least you are not the First Historian, I cannot imagine what he had to go through without anyone to guide him.” Anna told Jason as she reached her hand towards him, Jason held Anna’s hand
“Thank you, Anna! I’ll be in your care” Jason expressed as they made their way towards where the other Historians are living. Jason spotted some life forms being born from the Mana particles and when he saw them he noticed they had a higher energy than any other person he saw before his cycle ended. “Who are they?”
“They are the Guardian Deities of the worlds. Each one of them oversees a world that they help shape; you better remember to get along with them or else they might run you off their world.” Anna answered.
“I’ll keep that in mind. But how do they shape their worlds?” Jason questioned.
“Well, they borrow the power from the Universe System to create a World System that helps manage the Mana in that world and they decide how much Mana the inhabitants of that world can access. Yet no matter how little mana access the inhabitants have, there will always be a Magic Revolution in a world that has existed for long enough and the inhabitants will have access to more magical power after this event. Although, our worlds didn’t experience that because our worlds were too young when our Universe Cycle ended.” Anna said.
“Then that means …” Jason said.
“Just as you are thinking, if our worlds existed they would have experienced a Magic Revolution. Out of all the Historians only the First Historian, you, and me come from a world where the inhabitants could not access magic. But you feel the magic power flowing through you now, right?” Anna said.
“Yeah, I feel something within me, so this is magic. How do I use it?” Jason questioned.
“Do not hurry the process, I will teach you the basics. I do not wish for you to have a shaky foundation. Look, some planets and stars are beginning to form.” Anna answered. As they traveled through the universe they could see how some of the particles gathered and formed new celestial bodies. “It looks like the first world is starting to form. I am looking forward to seeing what this cycle brings.”
“Wow, this view is beautiful, Anna. I’ll work hard to preserve the memories of the new worlds and the ones to come.” Jason said.
Anna took a look at Jason’s face and decided to hasten her pace and told him, “We will get to our base of operations soon. I will guide you to your personal quarters, so that you may rest.” As Anna led Jason to the other Historians in another corner of the universe two figures could be spotted, a man and a woman.
“I have seen a glimpse of the future Universe Cycle Raul, after introducing the Breakers 3 cycles ago it seems that The Great Will has added the possibility of a new existence dubbed as a Wild Card. Unlike the Breakers, the Wild Cards are not bound to me.” The woman explained with a worrying voice.
“Ixchel, I know this might seem scary, but I promise I will make sure to protect you.” Raul reassured Ixchel.
“Why are you doing this? It was basically me who ripped you apart from everything you held dear.” Ixchel said.
“But it was thanks to that process that I was able to become the First Historian and meet you once you gained consciousness. After being with you for countless cycles I wish to never be separated from you. It sounds like these Wild Cards are going to be a pain because they will not be bound by the Universe System, you, but that also means they will have a harder start because they do not enjoy your guidance to use Mana for magic. The Breakers were not as bad because even though they could break some of your limits they were still bound by you. I believe we could manage whatever comes at us, as long as we remain together.” Raul said.
“I know, Raul. But it seems that The Great Will wishes for my erasure and replace the Universe Cycles with a continuously evolving Universe. But then why was I created and allowed to gain self-awareness if I was destined to be replaced?” Ixchel pondered.
“I will make sure the Universe stays this way and I will stop any Breaker or Wild Card who tries to destroy you.” Raul declared.
“Raul you should get going the rookie Historia should be waiting for your guidance as he too comes from a world without magic and that never got to experience the Magic Revolution just like your world.” Ixchel said.
“Then I will be on my way, my dear Ixchel.” Raul said his goodbyes as he headed back to the other Historians.
Back at the World of Historians, Raul found Anna, “Anna how is the new Historian? I heard he is from a magicless world just like us.”
“Raul, I sent Jason to his personal quarters. He will need some alone time, then once he is emotionally ready I will teach him the basics of magic.” Anna said.
“Then I will leave the newbie to you. Remember Anna he might be a version of your husband from another Universe Cycle, but he is not the same person as your husband. Your husband is long gone along with everything in your cycle.” Raul told Anna
“I know, but do you know how happy it makes me to finally see his face again even if he is not the same his life was the same up until the end of the cycle began. I am sure that if the cycle had not ended he would have married my version of that cycle.” Anna replied
“Do as you like, just make sure to do your duty as a Historian. This new cycle will bring about new changes, Ixchel told me that Wild Cards will be introduced and they will not be bound to her.” Raul said.
“It seems that The Great Will is desperate to end the Universal Cycles, I mean the Breakers could break some limits of the Universe System and now Wild Cards who are not bound by it. I wonder what will happen to us if the plan succeeds.” Anna said.
“I will give it my all to preserve the cycles. I don’t want to lose anyone. But if The Great Will is so persistent in ending the cycles, why doesn’t It do it with Its direct power?” Raul questioned.
“I have no answer for that, but Wild Cards will not be a threat to Ixchel for sometime as it sounds that they have to carve their own magic system because they cannot use the Universe System. No matter what happens I will follow your lead and I am sure all the Historians will as well. We consider you our leader, Raul, so we will fight alongside you.” Anna said.
“Thanks, Anna. I still remember when you first became a Historian; you have come a long way, you’re no longer the grieving magicless woman and now you’re one of the strongest Historians. We better get going. The first world will soon start to form. Jason will be in your care.” Raul said.
“Understood. I will take good care of him.” Anna declared. As Raul left Anna took out her pendant and opened it, revealing a picture of her and her family. As Anna laid eyes on the picture she smiled.
