After being released from the hospital and now home, Oswald was looking forward to his date with Hannah later in the afternoon. He was using his phone to check what they served at Moon Cafe and decide beforehand what he would like to order. He navigated to the website and saw their menu ranged from pastries to sandwiches and salads; as for their drinks they had teas and coffee. Oswald's attention was grabbed by the char siu sandwich and the brown sugar milk tea. His mouth was watering at the thought of his meal. Oswald couldn’t wait to spend more time with Hannah now that she was his girlfriend, his thoughts were full of thinking of how to connect more deeply with her. Oswald’s thoughts were interrupted by his mother’s voice.
“Oz, we are leaving for the family reunion now. Have fun on your date!” Liliana said.
“Yeah, Mom. Later.” Oswald responded. He then heard the door close. Now that his dad, his mom, and Carmen were gone Oswald headed towards his dad’s study. He started opening the drawers looking for something. “As the Deus family head, Dad should have some Blank Dungeon Passes. There they are. Let me grab one. I should be able to enter into dungeons later without leaving a trace that I was there. Plus by scanning this I won’t need an Adventurer's License.”
Oswald grabbed one of the Blank Dungeon Passes and put the rest back in the drawer. The Blank Dungeon Pases were light blue with yellow lines, a Pia was in the middle of it and the words “OMNI INGRESSUM” could be read around on it. He placed the pass in his wallet and decided he would go to a G-Rank dungeon over the weekend. Oswald then headed back to his room and started to meditate to concentrate on his Mana Flow. He was deep concentrating in the Mana within his body, he then started to change the flow and tried to mimic the Mana Flow he saw when Hannah was using wind magic. He concentrated the flow at the palm of his hand and then he aimed at curtains. A weak gust of wind manifested and the curtains started to move. After a few moments the gust of wind stopped and the curtains came to a resting position.
“I did it again. I am starting to get the hang of this.” Oswald was celebrating having used wind magic with his Mana Flow technique. “I really need to go to a dungeon to practice without the danger of being discovered. But for how long should I maintain my identity as the only person that can’t use my Magic? I mean I can use Mana to mimic Magical Power and Magical Energy, but still every test they do on me shows me as magicless. I hope I can someday also use the Deus State. I’ll need that power to confront the Lunarian Rankers.”
Oswald took a magic theory book from his bookcase and started studying for class. After studying for 1 hour Oswald showered and started to get ready for his date. For his outfit Oswald chose a white t-shirt, black pants, dark brown boots, and a dark blue windbreaker with the Deus Family coat of arms in the left front side. Oswald grabbed his house keys and exited his house. As Oswald walked towards the main gate, he could see his parents' beautiful garden. Oswald checked the bus scheduled to Ixto and realized he had 10 minutes before the bus arrived at the bus stop, so he started walking faster. After arriving at the bus stop, Oswald waited for 2 minutes for the bus. Oswald was happy upon seeing an almost empty bus.
It’s a 20 minute bus ride from Zapotes City to Ixto, so after walking I should be getting to Moon Cafe 10 minutes early. Oswald was thinking about the bus ride. Ixto, huh? I think before the Magic Revolution and the world fell into a period of chaos it was called San Francisco. The only thing left standing from that time is the Golden Gate Bridge. We live in the Bay Area, if I remember correctly they also used this name before the Magic Revolution. I barely go north to Ixto, this date should be fun. I wish I could be holding Hannah's hand right now.
After 20 minutes, Oswald arrived at the bus stop near the piers. He walked towards the fountain found in one of the nearby piers. South of the fountain he could see a three story building and he could see a wooden sign with a half moon that read “Moon Cafe”. A few minutes later he could see Hannah walking towards him. She was wearing an unbuttoned red plaid shirt, a white tank tank top, denim shorts, and back running shoes. As soon as she spotted Oswald, she started smiling and began running towards him. She hugged him and he hugged her back.
“I’m glad you’re out of the hospital, Oz.” Hannah said. “I was going to scold yesterday, but you confessed to me before I could do that. So please don’t take reckless actions again.”
“I’ll try not to.” Oswald responded. “Good thing I confessed to you, otherwise I would have been scolded. Hahaha.”
“I don’t want to see you hurt, Oz. You’re the only person with no Magical Power or Magical Energy, so make sure to stay safe.” Hannah said. “Let’s go to Moon Cafe, I managed to book one of the private rooms on the third floor. I heard they have an amazing view of the bay.”
Hannah held Oswald’s hand and started walking towards Moon Cafe. Once inside they could see a counter with a menu in the back. There was a door leading to a kitchen on the left side. The first floor had many tables that were full of people. On the right side the stairs leading to the second floor could be spotted and beside the stairs there was an elevator. Hannah and Oswald walked towards the counter. Hannah took out a dark blue card with yellow spots and the logo he saw in the wooden board.
“Hello, I am Hannah Chang and I have a reservation for a private room on the third floor.” Hannah said to the girl working behind the counter, she had a name tag that read “Michelle”
This book's true home is on another platform. Check it out there for the real experience.
“Hello, Ms. Hannah. Let me check your membership card for the reservation.” Michelle said and then she took Hannah’s card, scanned it and began typing on the touch screen. “All set, you can take the elevator to the third floor. Your room is 307, you just need to tap your card on the door handle and it will unlock the room. Thanks for patronage.”
“Thank you for your assistance.” Hannah said.
“Thanks.” Oswald said. The couple headed for the elevator, Oswald pushed the button for the third floor. As they waited for the elevator , they could hear people talking to each other on the first floor. The elevator arrived and the couple quickly got in it. Once on the third floor they made their way to room 307. Oswald opened the door and let Hannah into the room first. Inside the room they could see a table and on the wall next to it there was a tablet where they could order their food. They noticed the big window with a beautiful view of the bay. They could see some of the piers and water as far as the eye could see. They could see the seagulls flying around the area.
“What an amazing view, Hannah!.” Oswald said as he pulled a chair and motioned for Hannah to take a seat. Hannah sat down in the chair and then Oswald took a seat across from her. “Thanks for making this reservation.”
“Well, you’re my boyfriend. Of course I’ll do something like this!” Hannah said with a smile on her face. She then raised her index finger. “I think I'm going to get the fried shrimp rice and a mocha. What about you?”
“I am feeling the char siu sandwich and the brown sugar milk tea.” Oswald responded as he scratched the back of his head. “So we place our order on the tablet and then someone brings the food?”
“Well a cute robot actually brings out the food.” Hannah replied. “I saw videos of them, they are so cute, Oz.”
Oswald and Hannah placed their order through the tablet. Oswald had to go to the restroom and left Hannah in the room by herself.
“I better tell him.” Hannah said to herself. “But how should I bring it up?”
After a couple of minutes Oswald came back and then the robot carrying their order showed up. Hannah was so excited she took out her phone and started recording the robot and taking pictures of it. The robotic cart was carrying their order in one of the trays it had. The robot had bear ears and the screen had the face of a bear. Oswald took the food from the bear server robot and placed it on the table. The robot sensing that the items for the room had been taken exited the room leaving the couple by themselves once again. The char siu sandwich gave a delightful smell and the fried shrimp rice did not pale in comparison in terms of how delicious it smelled. The sandwich was cut into two pieces, so Oswald grabbed one of the pieces and took a bite. Hannah picked up the spoon and began eating the fried shrimp rice.
“This is really good. I should’ve come here earlier.” Oswald said. “How are you liking your food, Hannah?”
“It’s delicious. I’ve come here with Amy before and this is my favorite dish.” Hannah replied. “Oz, are you planning on joining the Deus Guild after you graduate high school?’
“I don't think I’ll join any guild. I might just go to college and become an engineer.” Oswald responded. “I still don’t have a set plan. What about you?”
“I’ll join the Moon Guild. My uncle, Amy’s father, has a high rank in the guild, so me and her have a guaranteed spot.” Hannah replied. “Oz, there is something I must tell you.”
Oswald could see that Hannah had a serious expression and said, “Go ahead.”
“I am a Lunarian. To be exact both of my parents came from Lunaria along with the other Lunarians when their world was destroyed. That makes me a full-blooded Lunarian born on Earth. I know people started ostracizing the Lunarians after the Lunarian rankers began attacking.”
“Hannah, I don’t mind you being a Lunarian. I know that most Lunarians are good people.” Oswald replied. “Plus I fell for you because you are you.”
“Thanks, Oz! I also have more to tell you.” Hannah said with teary eyes. “I lost my parents during the Mass Lunarian Suicide. I made a promise to myself to become stronger and that is why I put all my effort into my magic and swordsmanship.”
“Hannah!” Oswald could see Hannah’s teary eyes, so he got up, walked towards her and hugged her.
“From then on I started living with my uncle and Amy. But my uncle changed after also losing his wife in the Mass Lunarian Suicide. He became distant to everyone, but Amy.” Hannah continued. “Oz, when you confessed to me yesterday, I felt so happy. Thank you for being with me!”
“Of course, I’ll be with you, Hannah!” Oswald said. “I care about you. You can talk to me about anything you want. That is why we are boyfriend and girlfriend. We are here for each other.”
“Then I am glad to have you as my boyfriend.” Hannah said, then she faced Oswald and kissed him in the lips. After a few moments their lips parted ways. “How is your family going to respond if they learn I am a Lunarian?”
“Well, my Mom, my Dad, and Carmen will be fine with it. I know most of the Deus Family has negative opinions of the Lunarians, but they also ostracize me for being magicless, so their opinion doesn’t matter to me. But if they cross the line, I’ll side with you even if it means confronting them.” Oswald replied as he continued to hug Hannah. He could now see a smile on Hannah’s face. “You are more important than those people.”
“Oz, all of that means a lot to me!” Hannah said. “I am lucky to have you. Even when we were just friends, you have always been kind and attentive with me. Let’s get our Adventurer’s License, so we can go and explore dungeons together.”
“Then we better study hard and practice our combat skills.” Oswald said. “The test is just two months away. I know we will ace it.”
Hannah smiled thinking of spending time with Oswald inside the dungeons. She was wondering what kind of creatures and environments they would encounter. She was looking forward to the future, but for now she was enjoying her date.
