I think this outfit is perfect. Maria thought as she stood in front of the mirror in her room. Her long chestnut hair was adorned with a cherry blossom petal clip. She was wearing her black turtleneck top tucked into her white skirt. She had also put on her pink ivory coat. I first need to go to school and then I have to meet with Miss May.
“Maria, can you come to the living room? I need to give you something.” Hajin called for his daughter.
“Coming Dad!” Maria responded. She exited her room and went downstairs to the living room. She saw her dad holding a rifle. He wore a sad expression. “Dad, is something wrong?”
“No, nothing is wrong, Maria.” Hajin forced a smile. “I never told you this, but this rifle was made by your late uncle. The Elemental Gun is an incredible weapon. I still remember when Oliver finished this invention. He was so happy, my older brother was such a great person.”
“You have only told us that Uncle Oliver died back in Lunaria, but how did he die?” Maria asked.
“He sacrificed his life to allow us Lunarians to escape from Lunaria to Earth. He fought THAT MAN knowing he would die to give us the opportunity to live. I had already lost my parents and on that day I lost everything I had left, my brother and my home. I was so devastated; I didn’t know what to do; I could only keep moving forward; I couldn’t let Oliver’s sacrifice be in vain.” Tears began rolling down Hajin’s cheeks. Maria approached her dad and hugged him tightly. “But that’s in the past. Now I have you, your sister, and your mom. I love you three so much.”
“I love you too, Dad! You're the best.” Maria tried to comfort her dad.
“You’re about to take your Adventurer’s License Exam soon. I heard that you can bring your own weapons, so this Elemental Gun is yours now. Use it on the exam. Just insert Magic Stones you collect from the monsters you kill and load them into the gun. The attack depends on the element of the Magic Stone you fed into the gun.” Hajin explained as he handed the Elemental Gun to Maria. Maria felt the weight of the gun before putting the gun away in its suitcase. “I have been doing maintenance on it regularly, so even after all these years it still works. Take good care of it, your uncle made 6 Elemental Guns and there are only four left here on Earth.”
“What happened to the other two?” Maria asked.
“I am guessing they got destroyed alongside Lunaria. I don’t know how Lunaria got destroyed; I just know that if we didn’t leave Lunaria we would all die. The high ranking officials never clarified anything to us civilians.” Hajin answered. “And because Oliver was part of the military, I got help from Colonel Kenta Miyamoto here on Earth. It’s thanks to him that I could open our bakery. I am so grateful for Oliver; I know he set up everything to make my life easier once he was gone.”
“He sounds like a great man. He was a true hero. I wish I could have met him.” Maria said. “I could have learned so much from him. But don’t worry, Dad. I’ll live up to his legacy. I know people call me the next Saintess, but no matter what I carve out my own legacy. I’ll try to stop the conflict between Lunarians and Earthlings, I am the perfect candidate for that being half-Lunarian and half-Earthling. And to achieve that I need the power to stop the extremists on both sides.”

“Maria, please don’t put yourself in harm's way like your uncle. I would prefer if you just lead a peaceful life. I don’t want to lose you too.” Hajin said.
“I won’t die, Dad. I know that there are many people that think like me. We’ll come together to try and make a better world. I don’t want to just be a bystander when I can do something.” Maria was determined. “My next step is to obtain my Adventurer’s License. I need to go into the dungeons to become stronger.”
“Then stay safe, Maria! I’ll always be worried about you. That is my job as your Dad. I want you to achieve your dreams. The most important goal for your mom and I is Iseul and your happiness. I have to get going, you mom and Iseul are waiting for me at the bakery. ” Hajin said before heading to the front door. He grabbed his shoes from the shoe rack and put them on “Where are you going today?”
“I am going to school to drop something off for my fashion club and then I am going to meet with Miss May.” Maria responded with a smile. “Thanks for the Elemental Gun, Dad. I ‘ll make sure to take good care of it.”
“Good luck out there and take care. Bye!” Hajin said before leaving.
Maria grabbed her glossy ivory high heels before leaving her house. She took the bus towards Rosemary High School. When she arrived at the school she quickly headed to the club room. She always felt like she was in a historical drama because of all the old fashioned well maintained buildings the school had. After dropping a few pins at the club room, Maria left the school. She began walking to the cafe she would meet May.
“Your Magic Power resembles his.” Maria heard a man’s voice directed at her. When she looked back she saw a man that looked to be in his early 30s. She could tell something was off with the man. His smile made her feel uncomfortable. “Yeah, you give me the same feeling as him, Oliver Kim.”
“Who are you?” Maria decided to confront him as she felt she couldn’t escape him if she tried. She tried feeling his Magic Power, but she couldn’t feel any coming from him. “How!? Everyone is supposed to have …”
“Magic Power. That’s correct, yet I have no Magic Power. You can call me Mr. Park. May I know your name?” Mr. Park asked. Maria could feel a strong pressure coming from the man. Then he extended his right arm and opened his palm. A flame appeared. “But is Magic Power really necessary?”
“My name … Maria. Wait, no Magic Power that’s like Ms. May's nephew.” Maria tried to stay calm. As she looked at the flame. “And how do you know my uncle?”
“Back in Lunaria, I worked alongside him in the military. I was one of his friends.” Mr. Park responded. He closed his palm and the flame disappeared. “After being on Earth for a few days, I can say Earth is quite fun, more even than Lunaria and any other world. And now you tell me there is another like me. Earth is quite amazing.”
A few days, but Lunarians came to Earth years ago. Just who is this man? I don’t like him, but I don’t know how dangerous he is. Maria thought as he observed the man.
“I’ll give you a gift. I know Oliver would be happy I gave it to you.” Mr. Park extended his hand towards Maria. Maria just froze in place hoping he was not going to do anything to her. But she felt her power increasing.
“What’s this?” Maria was confused. The man had not done any harm to her and instead made her more powerful.
“That’s his power. Try to become stronger for I am looking to have fun against strong and skillful opponents! That’s my only purpose; that’s my only path forward! And that guy with no Magic Power makes me curious!” Mr. Park's smile sent a chill down Maria’s spine. “Next time we see each other, we’ll be enemies, Maria! I’ll observe Earth for a bit.” Just as the man appeared out of thin air he disappeared.
Maria could finally relax. She did not know who Mr. Park was, but she was sure she never wanted to meet him ever again. She continued her path now paying more attention to her surroundings. The fear still lingered. She started to run hoping to quickly see Ms May, but even then she didn’t know if Ms May could even stop that man.
