Chapter 38: An Unexpected Ally

Chapter 38: An Unexpected Ally

“I wish we had our weapons!” Amy said as she hit a Jungle Rat with a Fire Punch. “I can’t really hit many enemies at once because I have to worry about damaging the building or people around the area. I want my ax.”

“Yeah, but we never anticipated we would get attacked here!” Hannah said, throwing an ice chunk to a Fighting Cat. “I just hope Oz and Leon are alright! Who knows what they are fighting inside that dark cloud!”

“This almost feels like how they describe the dungeon breaks in our history textbooks.” Aurora commented, using Earth Magic to raise a dirt wall to block some of the monsters from attacking. “But all the dungeons were already conquered, so a dungeon break should be impossible!”

“As we can see something is going horribly wrong, it would not surprise me if a new dungeon just formed and that is why this is happening!” Jack said as he buffed the others and himself. “I mean we get to see a System Mission and I never heard of that monster Oz and Leon have to fight! What is even an Abyss Creature?”

“Look, there are only 3000 monsters left now according to the System Interface!” Amy said after noticing the updated info of the sub-mission. “A Fighting Tiger guys be careful!”

“Weird, its Magic Power doesn’t seem as high as I expected!” Hannah said. “We should be able to kill it!”

“Then, STRENGTH! MAGIC BOOST!” Jack said as he buffed the whole party.

“WATER BLAST!!” Aurora casted Water Magic.

“FIREBALL!!” Amy launched a fireball.

“ICY MIST!!” Hannah used Ice Magic.

The attacks launched by the girls hit the Fighting Tiger one after another. The Water Blast hit the Fighting Tiger and caused minimal damage. But managed to get it wet. Then the Fireball hit and it amplified the damage as the Fighting Tiger was also damaged from the steam after the water in its body boiled. Finally the Icy Mist hit the Fighting Tiger, which caused additional damage because of the sudden temperature change. The Fighting Tiger let out a roar and fell dead to the ground.

“Notice how their bodies don’t disappear.” Jack pointed out. “That means these monsters came from the dungeon and were not bred by humans for Artificial Dungeons. I bet they even have Magic Stones inside them.”

“More monsters are coming!” Amy said with a focused expression.

“Let’s keep going!” Hannah said with a determined tone.

“It looks like we will be fighting for quite some time.” Aurora said while gathering Magical Energy. “SHIELD!!”

A couple of monsters tried to sneak some attacks, but Aurora’s shield that covered the whole party blocked all the upcoming attacks.

“How long will it last?” Jack asked.

“At most 1 minute if the same rate of attack continues, if more monsters attack, it will break faster.” Aurora replied.

“Let’s take a breather!” Jack suggested.

The three girls nodded and relaxed while they could. They saw monsters frantically trying to break the shield. After a few seconds cracks started to form on the shield and they began to prepare themselves for combat.

Meanwhile inside the VIP room an US Eagle, an eagle with a blue and red color scheme and some white stars throughout its body, had appeared. The US Eagle looked at everyone trying to see who to eat first. Everyone in the room was frozen from fear and the pressure the US Eagle was putting on them. Liliana knew they could not deal with this A-Rank monster, but she had to protect everyone inside the room, so she gathered Magical Energy and made an ice chunk that she hurled at the US Eagle. The US Eagle became enraged and flew towards Liliana. Carmen, Alondra, and Melanie managed to move again and tried to help by using their Magical Energy to make a shield around Liliana. The shield broke as soon as the US Eagle collided with it. The US Eagle proceeded to tackle Liliana. As Liliana flew across the room, tears began rolling down Carmen’s cheeks as she saw her mom getting hurt. The US Eagle flew towards the ceiling intending on attacking Liliana once it descended.

“MOOOOOM!!” Carmen shouted and started to gather Magical Energy as fast as she could. “FIRE ARROW!!”

Carmen’s Fire Arrow quickly struck the US Eagle leaving a couple of scratches. The US Eagle got annoyed and decided to change targets from Liliana to Carmen. Suddenly, Electric Magic struck the US Eagle and stunned it for a bit. Carmen followed where the attack was coming from and saw Selene standing at the front of the entrance.

“I am glad I came here!” Selene said, observing the US Eagle. “This will be tough. Anyone that can beat the US Eagle is fighting other A-Rank monsters, so it’s up to us. Carmen, continue attacking with Fire Arrows.”

Carmen fired off a constant stream of weak Fire Arrows. Selene focused on gathering more of her Magical Energy. As the US Eagle charged at Carmen, Liliana got up and launched a Fireball at the monster. The Fireball hit the US Eagle straight in the head. The US Eagle got fed up and on its talons Electric Arrows began appearing.

“Damn it!!” Liliana yelled as she put a barrier covering everyone.

The US Eagle started throwing a stream of Electric Arrows at the barrier. The rate of the Electric Arrows hitting the barrier was similar to the rate Liliana was feeding Magical Energy into the barrier to replenish the damaged areas. As the seconds passed Liliana began to sweat; she was running low on Magical Energy. Lilinan moved out of the barrier and casted an Electric Blast towards the US Eagle. When the hit landed the US Eagle fell to the ground, but quickly got back up.

“Is anyone capable of making a barrier? I am too low on Magical ENergy and once this barrier breaks that is it!!” Liliana asked as she looked at the people inside the barrier. Everyone was trembling and no one stepped up. “DAMN IT!!”

A couple of Electric Arrows hit the barrier and it collapsed. The US Eagle set its sights to Carmen. As the US Eagle approached her, Carmen cried as she readied herself for impact. Suddenly, a portal with an aqua tint appeared in front of Carmen. A dark blue round fluffy monster with two antennas, two oval eyes, and red feet jumped out of the portal. The US Eagle hit the monster head on, the monster and the US Eagle each bounced back.

“A Pia!?” Carmen was surprised by the fluffy monster.

“Piii Piii Piiii Piii!! Piii Pi Pi Piii!!” The Pia sounded like it was angry as it got up and glared at the US Eagle.

The Pia’s antennas started to glow with a red color. After a few seconds the Pia unleashed a Fire Blast that hit the US Eagle, killing it in one hit. The Pia approached the US Eagle and after a moment the US Eagle turned into white particles. The Pia quickly absorbed the white particles and ran towards Carmen’s side.

“Pii Pi Pii Pi!” The Pia spoke.

“Hello, Mr. Pia! What’s your name?” Carmen greeted the Pia.

“Pi Pii Pi!” The Pia was happy.

“So, it’s Omi! That’s a nice name.” Carmen said. “Thank you for saving us!”

“Pii Pi Piii Pi.” Omi was proud.

“You can understand it!?” Liliana and Sselene asked in unison.

“I don’t know how I can understand him. He said he wants to follow me.” Carmen said. “Mom, can we keep him?”

“He saved us from the US Eagle, so it’s fine by me.” Liliana answered, looking at Omi. “If any monsters come this way, we’ll be safe now! Omi please protect us.”

“Pii Pii Pii!” Omi moved his antennas as he answered.
