AN: Sorry, I didn’t post a chapter on Monday. I have been seriously ill since the last weekend. Anyway, I kept my word. This chapter is almost 2k long. Please support the novel by adding it as your favorite. Enjoy!
“Mirror clones!” Arthur summoned his clones once more, but this time he used them to surround Rita and Mia.
“Absolute defense!”
Seeing that the girls were now temporarily safe, Arthur finally focused his entire attention on Dean.
During this short while, Dean had also instructed the greater demons on what to do.
“Keep your distance from him and continue to barrage him with attacks.”
“However do not use your strongest attacks! Once I give a signal, focus your strongest attacks on those girls. Make sure you use all your mana!”
“Rock, you join me. We will both face him in close combat.”
Dean was pulled out of his conversation with Rock.
“You are now many times stronger but you are still not my match!” After saying that, Arthur immediately teleported in front of Dean.
“Melody of death!”
“Great earth shift!”
The ground shifted below Rock as he was pulled behind Arthur in an instant, his greatsword already smashing down with all his might.
As for Dean, seeing the punch drawing closer to his face, he knew it was too late to dodge, instead, he slashed the inside of his death scythe blade down with both hands as if he were rotating it.
If Arthur insisted on going through with this punch, while it would connect first, his hand would immediately be cut after.
Feeling the attack coming from both his back and front, Arthur sneered.
His body erupted with silver essence then his fist connected with Dean’s face, knocking his head to the side.
In the instant the blade of the death scythe touched his arm, as he simultaneously felt the pressure from the closing greatsword, Arthur disappeared.
He instantly appeared beside Dean’s knocked head, and threw a left punch.
This time Dean stumbled backward a few feets.
“Bastard!” Rock screamed in anger. But before he could continue, Arthur teleported in front of him. However, Rock wasn’t one to be underestimated.
He was a man with rich combat experience, so when he felt the fluctuations in space in front of him, he slashed his greatsword from the right to the left, as if he wanted to cut Arthur in half.
Arthur eyes widened as he felt the crushing air from the sword draw closer and without thinking about it, he immediately fell back on his right hand, the greatsword almost touching his nose.
In that same instant, the evil energy below Dean churned before Dean’s body seemed to merge into it.
Immediately after, Dean appeared above the still bent Arthur, his body gracefully dancing as the death scythe swirled around him.
Arthur was just about to teleport behind Rock when he saw the point of the death scythe blade appear before his face.
His pupils turned into slits, as he knew it was too late to teleport away.
‘Switch!’
Arthur’s head was cut vertically in half.
As Dean felt his scythe blade cut into Arthur’s flesh, a satisfied smile started forming on his usual cold face before it stiffened.
Arthur’s head that was split into two suddenly burst into silver essence, the rest of the body following right after.
At the same time, the barrier surrounding Rita and Mia broke apart, when it lost one of its anchor.
Arthur appeared in the position of one of his mirror clones, a thin line of blood falling down from his forehead.
At that point where he thought he would die, Arthur felt his mind become clearer than ever before, as time seemed to stretch into eternity.
He felt as if he could touch upon something, so he didn’t hesitate to.

Intricately feeling the connection with one of his clones, he immediately wished to switch places.
Even after having a deep brush with death, Arthur had an excited smile on his face.
He could still feel that there was something else within his reach, it’s just that no matter how he tried, he couldn’t grasp it.
On the other hand, Dean had an ugly look on his face.
If Arthur could seamlessly switch positions with his clones, then the chances of killing him was practically nil.
The teleportation ability, especially in Arthur’s hands already made him a cockroach, but with this new ability, he just displayed he was no worse than a…
What was worse than a cockroach?
Dean didn’t know, neither did he have the time to figure it out.
While Arthur was trying to catch the fleeting feeling of enlightenment almost in his grasp, a rain of attack fell on him from all sides.
The corrupted civilians finally had the chance to attack.
Since Arthur was entangled with Dean, they couldn’t attack him, but now?
Looking at the numerous magical attacks of different kinds tinted with evil energy, Arthur snorted.
Without even needing the help of his clones, Arthur clapped his hands together as silver essence burst from him.
“Absolute defense!”
The space around him rippled before sucking all the attacks.
Immediately after, he teleported causing Rita’s anxious voice to fall on deaf ears.
“Arthur…”
Flashing in front of Dean, Arthur stretched his left hand to Rock who reacted even before he appeared.
Immediately after, from the space in front of his hand, countless attacks barraged out before enveloping Rock in tumultuous waves.
Dean used this short moment to regain his bearing and slashed his scythe diagonally.
Arthur bent downward, his back almost parallel to the ground.
As he saw the scythe blade pass above him slowly, he glimpsed from the side of his eye, the greater demons around them preparing to attack Rita and Mia.
In this crawl time, Arthur let out a light breath before a knowing light flashed within his eyes.
“Finally, I see it!”
While these words served to showcase Arthur’s success in his enlightenment, they hammered hard on Dean’s head as his body continued to move to complete his previous swing.
Arthur immediately straightened his body when the scythe blade passed over before sitting cross-legged on the ground.
Immediately, he closed his eyes and clasped his hands together.
“Spatial lock!”
Space essence erupted from his body and for the first time, Arthur felt almost half of his mana depleted.
However, it was worth it.
The result was nothing short of nonsensical.
Everybody around Arthur, including Dean, the wounded and fallen Rock, the corrupted civilians, and even Rita and Mia became frozen in place, almost as if time was frozen.
No!
It was more rapt to say space was frozen.
They all could think, however, no matter how they tried to move, it all ended futile.
It was as if the space around them was exerting an overbearing force on them and if they tried to resist it, they would be crushed.
Dean was also frozen in a posture that seemed like he was about to wing his scythe forward.
A tired smile lit Arthur’s face, however, the light of excitement in his eyes didn’t diminish at all.
He let out a light breath and was just about to stand up when something he didn’t expect happened.
The sound of breaking glass drifted into his ears, causing Arthur’s face to pale like never before.
…..
A few minutes ago, Dora sat at the top of a two-story building facing the battle ongoing a few distance away.
Around her were the bodies of several humans. There were kids, women, and even the old, their entrails all sprawled on the ground.
She was currently sitting atop a ritual circle, one with several organs at strategic points.
There was a point littered with tongues of different sizes, some with eyeballs, and some with intestines.
The entire scene was nothing short of gruesome.
Clasping her hand, she started chanting.
“I call upon the arrow devil to grace me with his presence!”
“I call upon the arrow devil to grace me with his presence!”
“I call upon the arrow devil to grace me with his presence!”
The light from the sun seemed to dim down, while the wind seemed to stop blowing.
Immediately after, from behind Dora, a four-meter tall creature started materializing.
It had bald head and red skin, while his eyes were crimson red.
The most distinctive feature would be the two pairs of arms at it’s sides.
The creature looked down at the little girl for a moment before opening its mouth.
“Incredible! To think that there is still someone with enough talent in ritual laws to summon me to the mortal plane…”
“Little girl, what do you want?”
Dora bowed slightly.
Ignoring the devil’s first sentence, she went straight to the point as she pointed in the direction of the battle.
“I need you to kill someone!”
The devil flashed a wicked grin, “Simple…”
A massive bow materialized in one of his hand, before three arrows flashed into existence in the other hands each.
“Who?” he demanded as he locked the arrows into the bow.
Dora was about to describe Arthur, when she suddenly changed her mind.
She didn’t know who Arthur was, but since he was someone Dean had to carefully plan before facing, then he must be quite strong.
So after recalling the girls beside him when she saw them in the alley, she described Rita’s appearance.
As the arrow devil listened to Dora’s description, his eyes seemed to glow before locking on the battle ongoing in the distance.
“Interesting…” Seeing all the people frozen in place, a surprised glint flashed in the eyes of the devil.
However…
“No matter!” His eyes immediately became fixed on Rita’s frozen figure before he released his arrows.
The arrows didn’t make any noise in the air, and instead seemed to vanish.
A second later….
*Boooom!*
*Boooom!*
*Boooom!*
A loud explosion rocked the building and if not for the devil that supported her in time, Dora would have fallen on the ground.
“Wh-what happened?” Dora whispered.
The devil’s voice drifted into her ears at this time…
“It’s a result of the sound barrier breaking!”
Meanwhile on the battle field…
Simultaneously when the sound of breaking glass entered Arthur’s ears, a great battle was taking place in Dean’s mind.
‘Why?’
‘How can he be so strong?’
When Dean heard what Arthur said before, he figured that Arthur was improving even while in a battle.
What kind of monstrous talent was required to accomplish such a thing?
Dean didn’t know.
What he did know however is that this person was his life enemy.
‘He must die!’ A crazy light shone in his eyes.
‘I need to kill him!’ he couldn’t allow Arthur to grow. He was starting to fear his talent.
‘Move!’ he bellowed in his mind.
Immediately when Arthur turned to look in the direction of the sound of the breaking glass, the evil energy within Dean suddenly went still, causing a message to flash before his eyes.
