CHAPTER 65: SURVIVE VI

Two years ago.

A little girl of about eight years old sparred with an adult woman.

Her body moved at a speed that didn’t match her age.

Every time she punched, kicked, or tried to head-butt, the tall snow-white-head woman would block her attack effortlessly.

The girl stopped her attack as she shouted, “It’s not fair. This isn’t even a spar. You are just bullying me.”

Squatting on the ground, she started throwing a tantrum.

The snow-white-haired woman smiled lightly before pacifying her granddaughter.

After the little girl calmed down, she asked, “Arianne, you have awakened, haven’t you?”

“Huh?” The little girl started fidgeting as if caught in a wrong act.

With a deep frown on her face, Scarlett asked, “Why are you trying to hide it from me?”

Seeing her grandmother get angry, the little girl burst into tears as she choked out, “It is because I look ugly when I transform.”

Scarlett was stunned for a little while before she burst out in laughter, “HAHAHAHAHA!”

Seeing her granddaughter cry more, she cleaned the tears that leaked at the sides of her eyes and tried to apologize, “Sorry! I didn’t mean to.” She hadn’t laughed like this since that incident several years ago.

After calming Arianne down, she patted her gently on the head before squatting her long legs to bring their eyes to the same level.

With a gentle smile on her face, she spoke softly, “You just haven’t found a special person to transform for. To him, you would never be ugly.”

Recalling her experience with the love of her life, her smile grew wider however, it equally looked sad.

Arianne looked back at her innocently, not understanding anything she said.

…..

Two years later, about an hour ago.

After the devil's seed exploded, Arianne fell flat on the ground as she suffered from a very thick cloud of evil energy trying to corrupt her very essence.

Her body trembled as her rich primogenitor bloodline subconsciously fought against the evil energy corroding her body.

Groans of pain leaked from her mouth, but after a while, it started subsiding.

The pain became manageable, and it was clear that her bloodline was successful in purging the evil energy.

As she waited for the process to complete, something suddenly hit her.

“Ar…lo.” She groaned out weakly.

However, no matter how she tried to raise her body, it wouldn’t budge. It seemed it was taking all her energy to fight against the evil energy.

Settling for the next best thing, she released her divine sense and spread it out to the limit.

Her divine sense covered a hundred meters with her at the center, however, because of her low cultivation level, it couldn’t pass through walls so even after covering the crawler shop, she couldn’t observe what was happening inside.

She became anxious, as she hoped he was safe.

After these past two weeks, she now considered Arlo her friend, one that for some reason made her young heart clench tightly to the point that it felt suffocating.

The wait lasted for almost an hour.

At this point, she could feel some minor changes. It seemed the evil energy was almost completely purged.

It was at this time that her divine sense picked a body flying out of the crawler shop before a small kid followed suit.

‘Arlo! Thank goodness you are fine.’ A light smile lit her tired face.

Her eyes suddenly widened in surprise when she saw the cute little Anita devour the body sent flying out.

However, before she could think too deeply about it, she saw a shadow speedily approach Arlo from behind, and he seemed ignorant about it.

“No! Turn back!” She tried to scream, but alas what escaped her mouth was a whisper. Her body felt so weak.

Luckily, Arlo escaped the danger and even seemed to have the advantage when fighting the enemy. Her eyes lit up upon seeing this.

He was only a small kid, even two years younger than her yet he was already so strong.

She had never fought a real fight, and would only spar with her grandmother, and occasionally with her mother.

Suddenly her eyes widened when she saw a shadow so fast for even her divine sense to pick up, attack Arlo from behind.

Her face turned pale, as she didn’t even have the energy to talk this time.

What followed suit was like a scene played out before her.

Arlo got injured, and through her divine sense, she could see countless shadows approaching him from all over the city.

Thankfully, none of the shadows seemed to be passing in the alleyway she was in, if not she didn’t know what would happen.

She saw Arlo struggle against the enemy before he fell unconscious.

She saw Anita struggle with all the enemies that tried to kill them both.

Alas, two palms can’t fight against ten fists, not to say she had none in the first place.

Anita didn’t have a choice but to retreat behind the octopus.

Arianne gritted her teeth tightly to the point that she bled.

‘I need to get up.’

‘Get up!’

When she saw the octopus turn into countless water droplets, and the tens of lesser demons lunge at the duo…

When she saw Anita snuggle affectionately against the side of Arlo’s face…

When she saw Arlo’s face…

It was as if time had slowed down.

His golden hair, his young but handsome face.

Thinking back to these past two weeks, she couldn’t count the number of times she had smiled around him. The number of times she genuinely laughed must have reached ten.

As she looked at his face in this slowed world, only one sentence constantly reverberated in her mind, ‘You just haven’t found a special person to transform for’.

From deep within her body, the bloodline she had been suppressing for over two years, one completely different from her grandmother’s, rushed forward like a tide.

Every tiny fiber of her body became filled with energy, and the small amount of evil energy still struggling in her body disappeared like a candle fire extinguished by a fierce gust of wind.

With a…

*Whoosh!*

Her body vanished on the spot.

A new progenitor has awoken.

……

“Arianne?” Anita’s cute voice echoed out, her voice sounding unsure.

*ROOAAAR!*

Standing almost three meters tall, a huge monster with its pitch-black hair reaching down to its feet and like a dark cloak covering almost its entire body seemed to fly as its body remained a few inches from the ground.

Only a small gap in the front seemed not to be covered by the dark long hair, if it can be even called one at this point.

From within the gap, a pair of long sharp claws that seemed to glint even in the darkness flashed constantly.

The monster had no eyes and no nose, and only a wide mouth filled with razor-sharp teeth and two-pointy fangs graced its face.

Its hair made a fluttering sound, almost like the flapping of a million bats.

Even after ten seconds, the roar continued.

All the lunging shadows fell on the ground as they trembled in fear.

In the dark sky of the northern continent, a huge crimson moon suddenly appeared.

The whole city was lit up in a crimson light.

Looking at the back of the monster, if not for the familiar aura, Anita would have fallen into despair in the face of a far greater enemy.

After about thirty seconds, its roar stopped, and only its echoes still lingered across the city.

The monster opened its mouth wide, and immediately all the lesser demons that had previously jumped to attack Arlo had their blood sucked out of their bodies.

A marvelous sight played out.

Anita observed the several streams of blood flowing around her congregate above the monster’s opened mouth.

In just ten seconds, tens of lesser demons turned into husk corpses, before crumbling into dust.

The huge globe of blood above the monster’s mouth released several waves of evil energy before surging into the monster’s mouth.

After devouring all the blood, the monster trembled as it felt all its mana consumed from that one area of attack.

However, the boost it got in its physical strength was worth it.

With a light roar, its body streaked across the battlefield with a fluttering sound, as it destroyed all the enemies in its path.

What Arianne didn’t know was that her awakening caused a huge commotion, which would also decrease the chances of not only her but also Arlo surviving.
