CHAPTER 67: SURVIVE VIII

Anita was stunned on the spot as she watched the ongoing battle.

With a deep fluttering sound, Arianne streaked through the place, her claws hacking any enemies in her path like a knife cutting through tofu.

No lesser demon was able to last more than two strikes.

.....

With a high speed, five shadows ran toward the sounds of an explosion.

They were still quite a distance away. With their strength they would have gotten there a while ago, however, after thinking about it, the middle-aged man decided for them to take a short break so as to restore their energy.

He wanted them to be at maximum strength to counter whatever awaited them.

Who would have thought that such a thing would work against them instead?

As they ran along the ground, a huge shadow appeared at a far distance before them. Barely a second later, the shadow was only a few feet from them.

Shocked at such an alarming speed, the five shadows came to a sharp stop.

The middle-aged man watched the fire monster in front of them, and he couldn't help but gulp nervously.

"Wh-what is that?"

*Roar!*

Standing seven meters tall, a dark three-headed dog, with a streak of crimson hair running along its back appeared before them. At the end of its tail was a snake head.

The aura exuded from the monster was overbearing.

"You vile creatures are the ones causing mayhem in my city." Suddenly a voice sounded above the monster.

Looking up they saw an old man covered in black robes sit atop the monster.

"A vampire?" the middle-aged man frowned.

Where did such a powerful vampire come from?

They had accounted for everything.

Tibu had already left with his family, making their only obstacle the city lord and the master of the crawler shop.

What they didn't account for is that Tibu would leave one of his guardians to look over Joe.

He didn't care about Arlo, with the command of their liege, the northern continent was simply the safest place Arlo could be.

As he thought about how to tackle this problem, the old man didn't wait for him and ordered angrily, "Kill!"

*snarl* *snarl*

The three-headed dog jumped into action.

The old man was really pissed off. On his way here he had killed many lesser demons. It hurt him a lot to kill those that were once his people.

In his anger, he didn't bother to check the cultivation level of the other parties if not he might have avoided them considering he was very cautious at heart.

With just one leap, the bloodhound arrived before a greater demon, before its middle head tore his upper body off.

The other two heads fought to devour the remaining lower body.

The middle-aged man was awoken from his thoughts.

"Spread out and attack!"

A great battle broke out.

.....

The whole city has been demonized at this point.

In the city, three battles were currently ongoing.

The master of the crawler shop was on his last leg, but he still held on.

The old man and the bloodhound were terrorizing the group of four.

And finally, a three-meter-tall monster kept bulldozing through a horde of hundreds of lesser demons.

All the lesser demons in the city were still rushing here at an alarming speed.

Arlo might have healed, but the allure of his human blood still remained.

However, no matter how many lesser demons came, they couldn't approach a radius of five meters around Arlo.

She bulldozed in a circle instantly killing all in her path. As the killing continued, the monster started cackling, seemingly deriving joy in this endless slaughter.

However, Anita didn't notice as she anxiously tried to wake Arlo.

Forget a minute, almost an hour has passed since he fell unconscious.

"Arlo, wake up"

Her voice was trembling at this point.

Suddenly, she saw two lines of tears fall down Arlo's face.

"Ar-Arlo?"

.....

Within Arlo's consciousness.

Old bro sat down beside Arlo.

He had tried everything, yet none of them worked.

He didn't know Arlo's will was already crumbling for a long time.

Today's incidents was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

After an hour of futile efforts, he finally got tired and used the most straightforward approach.

"What is it?" he asked gently.

He had followed Arlo since he was a baby.

He knew that from a very young age, he already had the mind of an adult, so he started treating him as one from some point.

Arlo buried his head once more in his legs.

"Huh!?" Old bro couldn't hear his words at first as they started as a whisper.

"....I could already walk since I could remember. At the age of one, whenever I was in the midst of other babies, I would feel weird watching them cry. I always felt like they were foolish. What I didn't know was that I had condemned myself to a life of loneliness."

"As I grew up, I distanced myself from other kids. I chalked it up to myself being special."

"However at the age of five, these kids that I had always deemed foolish awakened, while I the supposed special one became trash..." his words trailed off into a mutter.

"My world came crumbling down."

"However Father taught me a technique and I became able to utilize Ki. Getting drunk in the rush of power, I felt my life change."

"That feeling of growing stronger, faster; it was simply intoxicating."

"My intelligence didn't fall behind my growth. In fact, it was excessively fast. At the age of seven, while I knew Father made those plays to liven me, I felt them childish. To be honest it made me feel nauseous."

"I don't know the truth behind what happened in the village, but ever since I came to this world, I have only had one feeling...."

Old bro closed his eyes as he finally knew the reason for all this.

"I feel...tired." Arlo's words broke into a sob, as he tightened his arms around his knees.

"How could they treat me...abandon me like this? I may be an adult at heart but I am still only a child…their child."

Old bro raised his hand before placing it on Arlo's back.

With a gentle look, he rubbed Arlo's back affectionately.

After a while, he broke the silence.

"Child, it isn't your parent's fault." Arlo didn't react. He chalked it up to Old Bro trying to console him. However, Old Bro's next words destroyed that thought.

"It is mine."

He raised his head abruptly before looking at Old Bro.

Old bro sighed before he continued.

“I forced them to do it.”

“What do you mean?” Arlo’s voice sounded a bit hoarse.

“If you want to know, wake up and survive.”

Arlo abruptly stood, “What nonsense are you spouting?”

Old bro didn’t feel offended at all by Arlo’s outburst.

Instead, he faced Arlo, “Your parents are really going to die.”

Arlo felt his head cool down before he felt his heart clench to the point that his breathing became heavy sending Anita outside into a high-time anxious state.

He could tell from the sincere and honest gaze of Old bro that this time he wasn’t lying.

“They have been condemned to death a long time ago.”

…..

Meanwhile, the battle ongoing not far from Arlo had already reached a climax.

The old vampire lay on the ground as he felt his life quickly fading away.

However, what he had on his face wasn’t regret but a victorious smile.

As he looked across the place, the corpses of three greater demons entered his eyes.

Finally, his eyes shifted to the center of the battle, where the end was fast approaching.

The bloodhound had the middle-aged man under it.

Its two heads at the sides were viciously biting into the middle-aged man’s arms.

The middle head raised up slightly before it opened its mouth.

A huge ball of darkness formed before it.

With a maniacal grin plastered on his face, the old vampire watched his last enemy and muttered, “Die!” before the light of life faded away completely from his eyes.

The middle-aged man watched the huge ball of darkness gathering above him.

His eyes were already resolved, and before the launched ball could reach him, his body exploded into a thick cloud of evil energy.

The massive ball of dark energy impacted the ground, not even hitting its target.

A huge crater several meters wide formed on the ground.

The shockwave generated from it sent everything around it including the corpses flying into the distance.

The bloodhound fell into the massive crater.

However, a painful snarl escaped its three heads as it tried to resist the thick cloud of evil energy actively corroding its very core.

Alas, this was the detonation of a peak advanced mage, and even this terrifying beast couldn’t survive from it.

With a light *bang*, its body fell to the ground.

Slowly, its eyes became crimson red, a feeling of bloodlust emitting from its body.

*Boom*

The sounds of distant explosion entered its ears, and with a whoosh, it disappeared.

*Snarl!*

…..

About two minutes later, Arianne stood alone on the battlefield.

The ground was a gruesome sight.

Over a thousand corpses littered the ground.

The blood on the ground had already turned into a sea, releasing the distinct metallic smell of Iron.

While there were still lesser demons approaching, all the ones in sight had been massacred.

She raised up her head and opened her terrifying mouth filled with blood.

“ROOOAAAAR!”

Suddenly, Anita’s happy voice entered the opening on the sides of her head obstructed by her hair.

“Arlo is waking up!”

Arlo’s eyes fluttered slightly.

Arianne’s roar was cut short. Her head snapped behind and seeing that Arlo was truly about to wake up, she quickly ran off.

She moved toward the direction of the alley where she initially saw the devil's seed.

She barely entered the alleyway when something massive releasing a snarling sound hit her, sending her three meters body flying.

Due to the massive force, her body blew all the corpses in her path before she impacted the ground and rolled a few times, coincidentally falling in front of Arlo.

A thick cloud of blood covered the area.

Arlo opened his eyes, and the first thing Arlo saw was a thick cloud of blood being pierced by the crimson light from the moon in the sky.

“Arlo!”

Anita jumped into his embrace.

Recalling his situation, Arlo quickly rose on his knee before looking in front of him.

Once more, coincidentally a massive head rose up in his direction.

Through the light piercing the cloud of blood, Arlo could see the outline of the figure in front of him.

A burst of hot breath constantly blew at him, further increasing his visibility.

Since there was light, he subconsciously used his eyes.

While his left hand hugged Anita, his right hand rose up slowly until it touched the face of the monster before him.

He couldn’t help but mutter…

“How beautiful!”
