“Mirror clones!”
Nine clones appeared around Arthur, Rita, and Mia.
The clones held each other by the hand, enclosing the trio in a small circle.
Rita’s eyes widened at this display of power.
‘How does he even have enough mana to summon all these clones?’
What Rita didn’t know is that summoning these clones barely caused a difference in Arthur’s massive mana pool.
Individually, these clones only possessed about twenty percent of Arthur’s strength; which is why they could only use teleportation.
Not to say that their defense was practically nil.
It was just that with their teleportation ability, they didn’t need to tank any attack.
As the rain of magical spells tinted with evil energy fell from every direction, the nine clones shouted simultaneously.
“Absolute defense!”
The space in front of the clones rippled like the surface of a lake, before covering the clones, Arthur, Rita, and Mia in an invisible dome barrier.
All the launched spells fell on the barrier, before disappearing like stones sinking into the bottom of the sea.
‘Again!’ The command resounded once more in the heads of the corrupted.
They willed their mana once more before raining more attacks on the barrier. Dean only needed but a few moments to arrive, so all he wanted was for them to stall and prevent Arthur from teleporting.
This time, they didn’t bother to stop as the attacks continued with seemingly no end.
There were spears made from various elements, arrows, huge boulders, and many more.
The barrier couldn’t hold up any longer and collapsed on itself. Immediately after, the clones disappeared among the countless barrage of attacks.
However, they had already served their purpose as Arthur finally expelled the last bit of evil energy from Mia’s body.
“Mia! Are you okay?”
“Mia!”
Rita and Arthur’s worried voices resounded at the same time.
Mia’s face was pale and her lips purple. Her closed eyelashes trembled ever so slightly.
“Brother…” she groaned as she looked at Arthur.
While the evil energy had been expelled, the pain she had been subjected to in the process of the corruption was too great for the little girl to bear.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
Rita took her out of Arthur’s embrace, as tears fell down her face.
She gently sent her mana into Mia in an effort to ease her pain.
Arthur lowered his head, his facial expression unknown.
However, judging from his clenched fist, it didn’t take a genius to figure out he was angry.
Very angry!
Another rain of attacks fell by this time.
Stretching his hands out in opposite directions, with his head still lowered, Arthur spoke in a calm but arrogant voice that disallows any opposition…
“Die!”
The space around Arthur rippled greatly before countless magical spells rained out, destroying the incoming attacks and falling upon the corrupted civilians.
While the attacks looked fatal, the truth was that none of the corrupted died, and were only incapacitated.
In the end, he was still a kid no matter how strong he was, and couldn’t bring himself to kill.
As the metallic smell of blood soon permeated the surroundings, there was no shouts or groan of pain. There was only silence.
What Arthur didn’t know was that these people were already dead and as greater demons, they felt no pain.
Taking a deep breath, Arthur touched Rita and Mia, “We need to leave! Stop pouring your mana into her!”
“Hmm…” Rita nodded before she stopped sending her mana.
They didn’t know what was going on, so it was best to get out of there while they could.
Arthur was just about to teleport them away when Rita's eyes widened in horror as she looked behind him…
“Look out!”
Without bothering to think, Arthur pointed his palms behind him, as space essence erupted from them.
The space behind him rippled in time to swallow a flying black scythe flying toward him.
Turning back, Arthur’s eyes widened when he saw a dark-haired young boy walking toward them slowly.
“You! What are you doing here?”
“…”
“No matter. Come quickly, we need to leave this place.”
“…”
Still not receiving a response, Arthur’s eyebrows slowly creased into a frown, “You-don’t tell me you were the one that sent that attack?”
In response to his question, Dean flashed a cold smile before he finally spoke…
“You are going to die today!”
Arthur’s eyes widened once more albeit from a different emotion.
“HAHAHA…”
While Arthur burst into laughter, Dean looked at him coldly, his thoughts unknown.
After a short while, his laughter died down.
“With just you?” The simple question together with the mocking smile on Arthur’s face didn’t fail to conceal his disdain.
Slowly, he walked toward Dean.
A maniacal grin suddenly appeared on Dean’s face, startling the approaching Arthur.
He had been wondering how he could keep Arthur from teleporting.
After all, if Arthur wanted to escape, Dean doubted anyone could stop him.
However, it seemed all he had to do was say a few words to stroke his ego.
As he watched Arthur walk closer, Dean also moved.
He didn’t wait for Arthur to come to him.
What nonsense is that?
He had been waiting for this opportunity and he had even wasted a wish to obtain it.
As the distance closed between them, Dean spoke…
“That arrogant look of yours; that unruly side of yours that makes you act with no care for consequences….”
“I’m glad you still got them. It will make what I am about to do far easier.”
As he ended his words, evil essence burst from him before ten scythes formed far above him.
“Go!” he commanded.
The scythes drew closer to him as he walked, but Arthur didn’t put them in his eyes.
Raising his right hand to absorb them, Arthur’s eyes widened when he saw the scythe’s speed suddenly increase threefold.
What surprised him most was that the scythes that were already far above him arched away from his direction before flashing in front of the stunned Rita and Mia.
“Bastard…” Arthur growled in anger and was about to teleport before the girls when Dean flashed before him too with a scythe in hand.
The scythe blade drew a cold light in the air, but Arthur narrowly evaded it.
However, he wasn’t happy about dodging such a fatal strike and instead shouted…
“No!”
Rita held Mia in her embrace and looked in horror as death flashed before her.
At this moment, one of the talismans within her bosom lit up blindly.
All the scythes stopped before her and no matter how they tried to draw closer, they couldn’t budge.
This was one of the protective talismans her mother had given her.
This proved that she had been just a step away from death.
