In less than ten seconds, eighty mages fell.
General Rock woke up from his stupor and screamed at the top of his lungs, his face twisted underneath the helmet…
“Kill him together!”
Since there was no more undead to fight, the remaining mages rushed to kill Dean, before the specters reached them.
Warriors and mages are quite similar in the sense that they have no soul energy, making both parties quite vulnerable to soul attacks.
This is what made vampires one of the most feared apex races.
However, a mage upon breaking into the Red core stage will awaken their soul energy thereby giving them some form of defense against soul attacks.
In front of these deadly specters, even General Rock was vulnerable.
“Great earth shift!”
General Rock didn’t stay still and also joined his subordinates to attack Dean.
Their only goal was to kill Dean as quickly as possible.
“Death dance!”
General Rock almost coughed blood from frustration when he saw Dean ignore him and jump into the midst of his subordinates.
A beautiful scene played out in front of him.
Dean wove in between the mages, his scythe blade drawing lines of blood.
When the afterimage of his body disappeared due to his fast and strange footwork, only the splashing sound of blood falling on the ground remained.
With his unpredictable footwork and the quick but erratic movement of the scythe blade, the echoes of the mages' blood simultaneously splashing on the ground seemed to create a symphony of sound.
A message abruptly appeared in front of Dean, stopping his movement.
<< Your skill ‘death dance’ has evolved into the unique skill ‘melody of death’. >>
Dean waved the message away when he felt heavy movement from behind.
Without thinking, he slashed his scythe behind him.
*Clang!*
The sound of metal colliding echoed before General Rock was pushed back a few steps.
A surprised glint flashed in his eyes briefly before being overtaken by anger due to the continuous death of his subordinates.
This story originates from Royal Road. Ensure the author gets the support they deserve by reading it there.
Dean’s quick rampage together with the ten specters has already reduced the original three hundred mages to less than fifty.
What made Dean a bit frustrated was that he felt he could use the mage's corpses now available, but for some reason whenever he tried to, his control over the ten specters would lessen.
Even the remaining specters above the city were starting to fade away.
It seemed it took all his focus and will to barely control these specters.
What Dean didn’t know was that immediately when he commanded the ten specters, a new stat called ‘mental energy’ appeared among his attributes.
“AAAAAH!” Another round of painful shrieks echoed before they were cut abruptly; signifying the loss of another ten mages.
A trace of fear appeared once again in General Rock’s eyes, and no matter how he tried to suppress it, it wouldn’t die off.
Now only thirty mages were remaining in the short span of their brief exchange.
“Earthquake!” “Great earth shift!”
General Rock shouted before the ground around Dean slit apart.
Dean quickly exerted strength into his legs before jumping to the side; barely falling into a deep fissure that appeared beneath him.
Landing on a relatively safe ground, before he could stabilize himself, General Rock appeared beside him, before smashing his greatsword down with all the strength he could muster.
Dean raised the scythe up hastily, resulting in him being knocked back a few steps.
He was just about to fall into a fissure behind him when he quickly stabilized himself by smashing the tail of his scythe’s snath into the ground with all his strength, drawing a deep straight line.
General Rock appeared before him again, as he raised his greatsword high up.
Dean’s pupils thinned. Even if he blocked this attack, he would still end up falling into the fissure behind him. He didn’t doubt his death if that happened.
Not able to think up any solution, he gritted his teeth and activated his newly advanced skill.
It must be known that Evil energy also had the word Unique attached to it. Nothing needs to be said about how op such an energy turned out to be.
“Melody of death!”
A burst of dark energy spread out a radius of five meters with Dean at the center.
This dark energy constantly released wailing and ghostly cries. And unlike before, it didn’t recede or disappear.
At the same time, on Dean’s attributes panel, his combat power changed from mid-level master mage to peak-level master mage.
General Rock frowned when he felt the evil energy surging into his body uncontrollably before actively corroding his essence.
He used a great portion of his mana to resist the corrosion and smashed his weapon down as he bellowed…
“Die!”
Dean couldn’t help but release a breath, as he saw the greatsword rapidly approaching.
This new skill didn’t increase his strength, however, he felt his speed raised to untold height.
He felt lighter, no!
The right words are he felt free.
His legs moved slightly, and the dark evil energy surrounding his legs churned before it carried him instantly behind General Rock.
Yes!
It was as if his body had combined with the evil energy.
Facing General Rock’s back, he slashed his scythe upward.
The scythe blade seemed to draw evil energy from below as it turned into a thin line of dark energy before slicing into General Rock’s back.
“AAAAH!” General Rock screamed in pain.
While his treasure armor stopped the scythe from hacking him into two, it still couldn’t stop it from cutting into him.
Using his right hand, General Rock slashed his greatsword behind him in anger.
With a fluid movement, Dean squatted down, submerging his entire body in the cloud of evil energy, as he leisurely dodged the greatsword.
*Flash!*
The sharp glint of a blade flashed briefly.
“AH!” General Rock felt the tendons at his Achilles heel split apart.
His legs arched forward before he fell on both knees.
The evil energy below Dean’s feet churned once more before his body turned into a streak that revolved around General Rock, with the occasional glints of a blade flashing briefly.
Blood splashed in the air.
General Rock groaned in pain before the greatsword fell from his hand.
With the scythe blade arched behind him, Dean looked down at General Rock, his eyes a pool of darkness.
With the massive cloud of evil energy churning around them, it looked as if a mortal was paying respect to his god…a death god.
Finally, the painful shrieks echoing around Dean also stopped.
