CHAPTER 147: THE GREAT POWER OF THE ASURA RACE

CHAPTER 147: THE GREAT POWER OF THE ASURA RACE

A few minutes before the vampires clashed with the elves.

A group of ten werewolves ran across the jungle as they swerved around trees and other obstacles in their path.

After a few minutes, they encountered several humans and beings from other races. What they all shared in common was the brutal state in which their corpses were present.

"This was not done by a beast."

One of the werewolves commented.

"Hmmm...." the leading werewolf, Brandon, agreed silently. He was standing at 8m high and he was cloaked in a regal mantle of deep purple fur that commanded attention.

He thought deeply momentarily as his purplish eyes studied the corpses around him.

'There is a high chance the culprit responsible is ahead.' He had already lost count of the number of corpses they had seen so far.

And from the wounds inflicted, he could somewhat guess the identity of the culprit.

'Let's move around them.' While the third zone was smaller than the previous ones, it still spanned a diameter of about one hundred thousand meters.

While they were in a haste to arrive at the lake separating the third zone from the treasure as they had no idea when the barrier would be released, he didn't want to put his team in a dangerous situation.

After making up his mind, the leader was about to speak when the cry of a bird entered his ears.

A silver eagle circled above them as it studied them with its eyes. After releasing a cry, it swooped down and flapped its wings causing several wind blades to fall from the sky.

Harrumphing, the eye of Brandon flashed with a purple light before a bolt of lightning fell from the sky without any sign.

The bright purple lightning as thick as a grown man's thigh landed on the eagle in a flash causing its attack to be dispelled.

The bird struggled in the air as blood covered its feathers and lightning crackled across its body.

However, before it reached a thousand meters above the ground, it regained its flight.

Another of the werewolves was about to move when an arrogant voice drifted into the group's ears.

"Since you dared to attack my summon, I must repay the favor in full."

The voice had not even ended when a resounding boom rocked their ears and their massive bodies were sent flying in different directions.

The surrounding hundred meters became cleared of any form of vegetation as the shockwaves continued to spread out for several more tens of meters.

A red-skinned boy covered in only black pants redrew his outstretched fist. He stood bare-chested, his torso revealing a sculpted physique that speaks of countless hours spent honing his body. His chest was adorned with a network of sinewy muscles, each ripple and contour a testament to his physical prowess.

Brandon shook his head to shake off his disoriented state, and when he came to, a feeling of anger welled up inside him.

While none of his team members was killed in the surprise attack, the majority of the group was covered in varying wounds. Some were light while a few appeared grave.

Brandon glared at the culprit and when he saw the dismissive and arrogant smile dancing on his lips, his eyes couldn't help but become red. He was almost overcome by his anger. But in the end, he was a leader and was fully aware he couldn't act impulsively.

'In the end, my suspicion came true."

He shifted his eyes to the other girl with red skin covered in a scanty dress. The dress barely covered her most important regions and exposed the majority of her skin. Her body oozed a seductive charm that unfailingly captivated the eyes of those around her, however her flat chest dampened the feeling. As if making up for the lacking bust, her teenage buttocks were very perky and her waist curved at such a captivating angle that left one salivating.

"The werewolves don't seem to be anything special." the red-haired boy spoke deprecatingly as the eagle landed on his small but packed shoulders.

Brandon was pulled out of his lustful thoughts and he couldn't help but feel ashamed. But when his brain registered the Asura's mocking words, his embarrassment disappeared faster than it appeared as his head spun.

"We are ten while they are only two.'

'And judging from the way the girl appears, it seems she has no intention of intervening... at least for now.' he looked at the girl standing at a distance, with her arms crossed together and an indifferent look on her face.

He knew the Asuras practiced matriarchal leadership and that their women were overbearingly arrogant. Though, they had the strength to back it up.

The werewolves finally started rising to their feet around thirty breaths after the attack.

"Oh!" the boy exclaimed as he caressed the head of the silver eagle, "You don't seem half-bad!" he remarked sincerely as he saw the werewolves heal at a commendable speed. Still, it couldn't compare with the regeneration of vampires or Ki cultivators.

He saw the werewolves regroup but he didn't take any action to stop them. Instead, he watched them with interest, as if saying they could come with all they have.

With no hesitation, Brandon who was planning to invoke their pack's power discarded that thought when he saw the Asura's careless behavior. He didn't want to miss this opportunity so he commanded his entire team to charge at him.

'No matter how powerful the Asura's bloodline is, I refuse to believe he can singlehandedly hold off against us."

Purple lightning danced around the wolves' fur as their bodies turned into a purple flash that streaked on top of the ground.

"HAHA!! The Asura boy laughed out boisterously as he appeared dauntless to the werewolves' charge, "Do you think numbers matter against me?"

As his words ended, he clenched his right hand into a fist and after mustering all his strength, he punched the ground.

*Booooooooooooooom!*

The ground fifty meters around him caved in, forming a deep crater about ten meters deep. A cloud of dust spread out blocking the visions of the charging werewolves who stumbled after momentarily losing their footholds.

As they tried to regain their bearing, the arrogant laughter of the Asura boy rang in the cloud of dust. While the werewolves had their vision obstructed, the Asura boy invoked one of the two powers he inherited from his summon that had flown back into the sky.

His eyes suddenly took the same shade as his summon, as he shared its vision. He opened his eyes once more and gazed back into the thick cloud of dust that didn't seem would dissipate any time soon.

He locked onto the flustered werewolves and felt a rush of excitement coursing through his veins. He enjoyed that feeling of hunting his prey.

A wind current suddenly gathered around his right hand as he used the second ability from his silver eagle.

Clenching his hand into a fist once again, he punched out in a direction.

*Boooooooooom!*

His immense physical force together with the wind current raging around his hand, formed a wind storm that acted like a dragon's breath as it moved towards its target. The dust around the breath-like wind storm was pushed aside as a huge vortex-like opening was formed connecting him and one of the werewolves. Before the werewolf could react, the windstorm swallowed him as his painful cry resounded from within.

In less than five breaths, his cry died down as his body was wiped off from existence.

The storm continued for almost a kilometer, raving everything across its path without any exception.

*Awooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!* Brandon who had been feeling anxious about his team mates released a heartbreaking howl as he felt his connection with one of the members of his pack cut off.

"Form a pack link!" he roared out.

The other eight werewolves who could feel the anguish within his voice, acted without any hesitation in the now-dissipating dust.

Brandon and another werewolf started transforming as their limbs twisted and their muscles changed into a more humane form.

Now standing on two feet with their arms extended into sharp claws, Brandon and the other Alpha raised their heads and released a piercing howl.

*Awoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!*

*Awoooooooooooooooooooooooooo!*

Two moons rose from behind them into the sky as they illuminated the surroundings. The other werewolves felt a change within themselves. While they remained in their original transformation, they could feel the strength flowing through their connection with their Alphas coursing through their veins.

Due to the connection, they also shared their Alpha's emotions so they also raised their heads and released a howl to release the pain stabbing through their hearts.

The wolves were still howling when two windstorms comparable to a dragon's breaths raged across the sky before swallowing the two moons.

The piercing howls were cut short as the werewolves vomited blood. Their transformation was forcefully undone and they fell weakly to the ground. At the same time, the cloud of dust dissipated completely, revealing their previous state and the now transformed Asura boy standing a short distance away from them.

Unlike before, he now had a red gauntlet with intricate patterns on his hands. But his most noticeable change was the visible blood-red aura surrounding him, causing his matching hair to fly behind him.

Raising his head stiffly, Brandon whispered as the grinning image of the Asura boy clouded his vision:

"Frenzy!"

Frenzy- the most powerful ability of the Asura race granted to them by their special bloodline along with an affinity to gravity laws. Unlike what could be deduced from the name, the Asura could still retain their mind in their frenzied state. But that wasn't what made it the most fearsome ability in the whole universe.

It was the fact that Frenzy granted the Asura an unlimited boost in strength and the only restriction was that the boost depended on how angry they become.

That was why there was a generally agreed saying across several worlds.

"Do not double cross an Asura. And if you, kill them as quickly as possible!"

"Hahaha! How dare you think you could defeat me! The werewolves have started becoming too arrogant!" Even though he appeared to be laughing, he was actually raging on the inside. Just the fact that the werewolves were placed on the same pedestal as his race caused his anger to tick off and made his stomach churn.

The Asura girl who was acting as a bystander at a far distance shook her head as she thought:

'It isn't the vampire race that is on the same level as our race, it is Scarlett!'

Her body shook as she remembered the record she had read from her family history books; records that the boy was oblivious to. After all, the Asura race granted special privileges to girls rather than boys.

"Hmm!" the expression of the Asura girl who had always had an indifferent look suddenly changed.

A huge crater had been created from the fight but she had been standing at the edge of the crater.

She wasn't oblivious to the prying eyes of some hidden presences, but as time passed and they witnessed the Asura's boy's terrifying strength, they scurried away.

It was the same thing now!

However, she couldn't help but notice one of the figures that was sneakily running away.

He had a deep crimson aura around him and while the Auburn-haired boy tried his utmost best to mask it, she could still feel the stinging pain from his overbearing killing intent due to her high physical senses as a Ki cultivator.

'And that is even when he is suppressing it!' her interest was finally piqued. With a sway of her slender yet curvy waist, her body disappeared leaving a cloud of dust behind her.

She quickly closed the distance.

The Auburn-haired boy who happened to be Steven couldn't help but curse:

"Shit!"
