Chapter 67: Abby Rition

In the depths of the creaking Ghost Ship, young Elise still found time to be memorized by the weirdest phenomenons.

"What the shell?" she said, lifting up a piece of cobweb on the edge of the wooden steps. "This ship is so creaky and old, the cobwebs have cobwebs growing inside them."

"You know what they say, first mate Freckles," Captain Archibell remarked. "Eternity weaves an endlessly tangled web!"

"Wowie capm," Tony the Troutface remarked. "Did you really come up with dat philosophical statement all on your own?!"

"Aye," the captain remarked sadly. "Coming back to the place I abandoned my crew is making me existential. And normally, I'm as existential as a moldy mango!"

Sincirce glared at both of them. "And you know what my philosophy is, boys?!"

"Uh..." Tito remarked sheepishly. "Coconuts are better than grapes?"

Sincirce rolled her eyes and glared at him. "No. Time is money. Let's grab the golden trident and flee before we witness a true helldritch abomination!"

"Eeeek!" a girlish voice cried from within the hold. "Somebody pleeeeeaaaase save me from this thing!"

"You were s-saying?" Tony stammered. "I think we're gonna meet a lot of scarier things than your mother-in-law, witchy woman!"

Before Sincirce could answer, Captain Archibell yelled "hurry" and they rushed to the bottom of the staircase. They found themselves in a cargo hold the size of a small town. Hazy white fog hovered ghoulishly over the floor. There they say who was making the screaming. A young girl with a face as white as dry ice shrieked at the top of her lungs. She had short dark pigtails and wore a robe of light purple. Haplessly, she was terrorized by hooded ghost with a skull mask. It raised a razor sharp scythe, ready to reap her.

"Somebody help me!" she cried, pulling at her jet black pigtails. "I'm much too young, cute and rich to die!"

"My sentiments exactly," Sincirce grinned.

"Except for da young, cute and rich part," Tony remarked and Sincirce bashed him on the head.

"I'll save you, my sister from another mister!" Sincirce cried and tapped her head.

The silly witch began to chant a powerful spell that simmered on the tip of her finger. "Lightning blast, save that honey, and make this witch a load of money!"

The lightning blast surged from her finger and erupted across the room at the reaper ghost. With a well placed scythe, the ghost deflected it back at her. Feeling a thousand volts running through her veins, the witch's perfectly conditioned hair stood straight up in a frizzy afro. She stood smoking in the middle of the hold. Elise was a bit concerned, until Sincirce opened her mouth. "My hair! I didn't ask for a perm! How dare you! Someone bust that ghost for me!"

Everyone looked at each other. Archibell shrugged his shoulders. "My deft swordfighting only works on mortals."

"And I'm kinda a fish!" Tony remarked.

"And I want my mommy!" Tito exclaimed.

Elise wanted to cry for her father too, but when she looked at the golden piece of the trident around her neck, it started to shine yellow and gold. "Ooh sparkly," she said. "Wait, hold the shell phone!"

She started to walk towards the reaper ghost. The yellowish eyes behind its skull mask widened. "Wait, what are your doing?!" The girl in the purple robe exclaimed.

The light emitted brightly from the trident causing the girl to shriek as everyone was blinded. Even Elise had to shut her eyes from the sunbright light. When everyone opened their eyes, the ghost was gone and the girl stood alone. For a second, the girl looked highly annoyed, but then she clasped her hands and gushed. "My hero!" she cried.

Everyone rushed to Elise. "Good going, kid!" Archibell said. "All my maiden saving must have rubbed off on you!"

"Peh," Tony remarked. "Cap'n, you can't save money in your wallet."

"Anyway," Sincirce exclaimed, poofinh her hair and skin back to normal. "Who are you, little girl? And did you say you had money."

"Why yes," the pigtailed girl said. "My name is Abby. And I'm from the House of Rition. My family and I were cruising on the seas in our ritzy oceanliner when suddenly night fell and we found our boated spirited away into this realm. We were taken aboard and..."

Tears emitted from her dark, overly made up eyes and emotion began to redden her paleish face. "I'm much to young and scared to find my family."

Tito walked up to Abby and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, babe," he bragged. "Thats what I do best."

"And screaming for your mommy," Elise said, jealousy searing from her eyes.

"Shh, Speckles," Tito said cooly. "We'll help this mega cutie find her parents!"

"And get paid lotsa cash!" Sincirce said, grinning widely and Elise swore she saw money in her eyes.

"And get out of here before I wet my pants!" the captain said grinning boldly.

With Abby in tow, the four members of her crew marched off, leaving Elise to pause for a second. She didn't have a problem with helping Abby Rition. But why was she so annoyed by Elise's golden necklace.
