Chapter 56: The Noble👑 Family of ⚖️Faircliff⛰️: The Last Chance

Fifteen days have passed since I came to this world, but I am barely living at all. My whole game points are almost gone; I would only last for five days, or worst, three days if this continues. The demand for food has risen, which makes the primary goods expensive. Inns and house renting are the most expensive of all; well, there are not many buildings to accommodate this crazy amount of people. This makes those businessmen raise their rents too much.

Those who have powers can just hunt food outside the walls or sell monster carcasses. They are also the ones who always get the good missions that give lots of money. Those lucky bastards!

"What? But, Sir, that's twice as expensive as before!" I exclaimed, my voice tinged with disbelief.

"Heh, I'm giving it to you for cheap. Did you know that others are willing to pay three times as much? It's either you pay or leave!" the owner retorted, his tone laced with a hint of smugness.

"But sir, this is not fair! I already gave you an advance!" I pleaded, frustration evident in my voice.

"The advance has already been used up. I just raised my rent, and this makes today your last day!" the owner declared sternly, his words dripping with finality.

"What?" I gasped, my shock palpable.

"Go pack your things, or else I'll throw everything out!" the owner threatened, his anger simmering beneath the surface.

Damn it........... Now what?? It's already nighttime; they don't even give me a night. I heard a player is renting my place they called him lone or solo hunter or something like that. He's from another city that just came here. They said he is strong and powerful. It's always like this strong one always take everything.

This is... not what I expected my life would be.

I walk around the night streets; it's still bustling with people. I thought God is by my side, but my dreams are slowly crumbling. What face would I show if I met my parents... I just lost everything.

My eyes feel teary; I am trying to stop it. I must be strong but... but....

A loud horn for a plaza surprises me, and my emotions suddenly vanish. What's happening?

"Players from other worlds! The noble family of Faircliff is calling all players around who are willing to work for a very big project that will happen inside the manor of Faircliff. Everyone, weak or strong, is allowed to be part of it as long as you are a player...."

After that, a loud horn was heard again. He is on a horse and starts to go to another place. If what he said is true then... I can survive this... God still has not forsaken me! Yes!!

Or so I thought... Why is the line so long... Damn, I should have gone out last night if this would happen. The queue is truly long. The manor of Faircliff is found in a mountainous area surrounded by forests. This is the side part of the city, but the dangerous mountains at the back of Faircliff and the forest, which are said to have lots of monsters, make Faircliff manor heavily protected. This whole area is owned by Faircliff, even the forest and mountains. They are truly rich.

"Damn, how far are we? It's been a whole day, and we are still far," I muttered under my breath.

"Everyone...." the guards called out. "You can come back tomorrow..."

Wait, what?? I've been waiting for so long. Players stood out, especially the ones in the front. They argued as to why now, But the guards explained it's already night, and they are not taking in more. However, players didn't understand. They started to get aggressive. Well, they did wait for so long, I waited for so long.

A fight erupts, and a riot begins around the area. There is pure chaos. Amidst the turmoil, the gates are left unguarded. As the gates start to close, it feels like I can fit through those bars... You know what, it's now or never.

I run, fueled by adrenaline, my heart pounding in my chest. The chaos around me is overwhelming. People are shouting, fists flying, and magic crackling through the air. I dodge spells narrowly, weaving through the crowd with agility.

In the midst of the pandemonium, I spot a narrow gap in the gates. Without hesitation, I sprint towards it, ducking and weaving past the brawling players. The air is thick with tension and desperation as I push myself harder, my breath coming in ragged gasps.

Finally, I reach the gates, the iron bars looming above me like a daunting obstacle. But I don't falter. With a burst of determination, I squeeze through the narrow opening, feeling the cold metal brush against my skin.

I find myself inside the manor, but it's more like a town—it's vast and sprawling. In front of me, there's a magnificent garden with towering trees and a grand fountain at its center. Beyond the garden, I can see the imposing silhouette of castle in the distance, but I'm pretty sure that's not where we should go.

Taking a moment to catch my breath, I scan my surroundings, searching for any sign of where I should head next. The air is still heavy with tension from the chaos outside, but here in the tranquility of the garden, I feel a sense of calm wash over me. However, something feels amiss, a nagging feeling at the edge of my consciousness that refuses to be ignored.

Deciding to trust my instincts, I choose the path leading to one of the big buildings. Since it feels the quieter route, hoping to find someone who can guide me through this labyrinthine estate. As I navigate through the lush greenery and ornate pathways, I can't shake the feeling that there's more to this place than meets the eye.

Suddenly, the air feels cold, and a shiver runs down my spine. I sense something, and when I turn, I see it—a dog. No, not just a dog, but a large, menacing creature, its mouth drooling as it stares at me intently.

My heart races as I realize the danger I'm in. This is bad... truly bad.
