Chapter 16: A Promise With Another Promise

Chapter 16: A Promise With Another Promise

After a few minutes, the goblin leaders said, "We are now freeing both of you. Just promise that you will never, ever attack us again."

I was surprise never thought they would free us. Then, they began untying the ropes from our hands. It seemed almost too simple but the consequences of my actions are too big; all we had to do was promise not to attack them, and they would release us without any harm. "I can make that promise," I said, my voice filled with relief I don't think that promise is a fair trade at all, "I promise that we will never attack you, but..."

"We want to offer you proper compensation for our past actions," I stated earnestly. Continuing, I added, "Your town is struggling, and it lacks the resources to accommodate hundreds of thousands of goblins. We could potentially help you find a solution..."

Some of the goblin leaders appeared to grow angry. "So, now you want us to become your slaves?" one of them retorted. "We're releasing you now, just go and keep the promise you made we don't need your help!"

"Calm down," I urged, raising my voice slightly to be heard over the commotion. "We've made a promise never to attack you, and I'll make another promise now. I'll do my best to help your town. You need assistance, and if this situation continues, more of your people will suffer and die."

The highest goblin leader spoke up, his voice filled with sincerity, "Yes, we do need help... desperately. The burden is heavy, and we truly need assistance." It was evident that the goblin leader was carrying a significant weight and was genuinely in need of help.

The narrative has been taken without permission. Report any sightings.

He continued, his voice trembling with emotion, "Please, help us, even if it means becoming your slaves. Please, save us." His tears revealed the inner turmoil of a strong leader who was willing to do whatever it took to save his town. The other goblin leader have no choice but to follow their leader.

I turned to Zelut, and our eyes locked, both filled with determination. He nodded silently, indicating his agreement to follow the course of action his leader had chosen.

How can I save this dying town? Many buildings are rundown, lacking proper farms or food production facilities. However, their defensive structures are strong, and they have an abundance of gold mines and gold. As we walk around this town, goblin guards accompany me, and I ponder ways to assist this goblin community.

I opened the system, and the interface displayed the goblin town. Could I use the system interface for this town? I decided to try and build, and to my surprise, it was possible. However, due to no builders, it wasn't functioning as intended. When I attempted to construct a food production building, it displayed a message indicating a lack of builders.

I tried to look into hiring a builder, and it appeared to be possible. I just needed 100 gems to acquire one builder. It was intriguing because in the tutorial for my original town, you already had one builder, and additional builders required gems, with a maximum of five. However, in this town, there was no builder available initially, and you could buy the first one. Unfortunately, I couldn't purchase it due to my lack of resources.

I have no choice but to ask the goblin leader to lend me 100 gems but he gave me 500 gems. It appears that they have plenty of gems so as gold, but they don't know how to use them.

The moment of truth arrived. Would it work? I used the gems to buy a builder hut and placed it in front of me. Instantly, a small house appeared. I went inside and saw a builder looking person, but it was a goblin???
