Chapter 41: The Winner🏆 but a Losser🗑

The battle is raging with five more alive, and the safe zone is shrinking. We are truly lucky; the circle, which appears to be the last safe zone, occupies the whole house. The other enemy team needs to get inside the house, but we won't let them get near as we keep shooting at them.

We are locked in a continuous exchange of fire, as if neither side wants to concede, and more minutes pass. We ensure that if they show their faces, we will rain fire on them, making it hard for them to reach the safe zone. The last zone is now shrinking, leaving the enemy with no choice but to run inside or face certain death.

They did run, and they were prepared. They had a makeshift shield made from debris, deflecting bullets but exerting a strong force. Michelle managed to eliminate one of them. The other two are now extremely close, and we find ourselves reloading our guns. This is getting bad now.

I found myself near the doorstep when the first guy rushed at me. Despite attempting to reload my gun, it was too late.(Boog!) I was pummeled by the shield. The other guy still had his shield, but Michelle was ready. She executed a flying kick, causing the other guy to lose balance.

I struggled to stand up after being launched from the pummeling. As he put out his shield the guy pulled out a gun. "Sh*t!" I instinctively tried to shield my body with my hands as if it could do anything. But Michelle swiftly kicked the gun away, and launch an attack to him.

Michelle fought against the guy I was facing, showcasing her impressive skills. The other man attempted to intervene, but no matter how hard he tried, he was losing the battle.

Eventually, he managed a strong hit, causing the guy to fall. Seizing the opportunity, Michelle quickly pulled out a knife from her pocket and swiftly ended the threat by cutting the man's neck, instantly killing him. Michelle... is strong.

The other guy, who had been flying kicked by Michelle, had already stood up and aimed at her. I rushed towards him, but Michelle was already shot. "Damn it! Nooo!" I was too late again. I forcefully pushed his body back, carried him, and then forcefully overturned him to the ground.

The guy is still alive, bleeding and panting, unable to move. This is the moment; I need to end him. However, I hesitate once again. Despite knowing I have the power to kill him, I can't bring myself to do it. He shot Michelle and likely killed others, but the act eludes me. Suddenly, I realize he has a knife on his back, and it's too late to dodge the impending attack!

Before everything unfolds, Michelle, with a gun, forcefully hammers his head—once, twice, thrice. His head is bleeding as Michelle relentlessly delivers the blows. Once again, she saves me. Panting heavily, her injuries are evident throughout her body, and the gunshot wound she just obtained continues to bleed.

"Michelle!!... Michelle!!" I rushed to get near her as she fell to the ground, visibly exhausted and weak. "Here, let me heal you!" I frantically pulled out all my healing kits from my bag. "Use this... no, I'll do it!" Panic set in; she seemed to be fading, and I couldn't bear the thought of her dying. However, the safe zone is shrinking again, gradually consuming the entire area.

"No!! No!!! No!!!!" I can see the restricted zone closing in on us. Despite my attempts to patch and heal Michelle, it's not working well. I carry her, desperately trying to reach the center of the circle, but the restricted zone persists. Just a few more seconds, and the entire place will be engulfed.

"Mich...elle." I cry in helplessness, unable to do anything to help her. She weakly reaches out to touch my face, managing a smile. "My na...me... it's not...." she says in a weak voice.

"What??" my voice cracks.

"Sar..ah..th..at.." she says and about to reveal something more, but she fades away. The restricted zone has captured the entire area. "Nooo!!!! Michelle."

She is gone. "Winner Winner Chicken Dinner," a notification shows up with a cheerful song in the background. "Is this what you want?!!!" I shout to the sky, as if expecting an answer. I've won, but it feels like it wasn't meant for me. I should have died... why? Why me???
