Jason's Tale 18 - It Can Only Get Better

The next morning was a blur of chaotic activity in the hospital room, with Jason sluggishly trying to button up his shirt while Pam struggled to slide his socks onto his feet without pushing him off the far side of the narrow bed.  Voices of nurses and doctors loudly echoed through the thin door leading out into the hallway even though it was closed, and occasionally Jason’s mother’s voice would rise to smother out all the rest.  From all indications, it sounded as if another World War was being fought on the other side of the thin frame separating the room from the hall.

“Jeeze, hold still,” Pam demanded, dropping one foot and tugging up Jason’s other to start trying to fight a clean sock on it.  “Your mother is expecting both of us to be on time for school this morning and you’re going to make us late!”

“Make us late?”, Jason exclaimed, huffing a little red faced from his struggle to stay upright while being pushed on by Pam while also trying to button up his shirt without getting it crooked.  “The doctors haven’t even released me yet this morning!  They usually don’t do that until after nine or ten o’clock, you know!  School will start well before they ever let us out of here!”

“And,” Pam sighed, looking up a little exasperated as she took a break to push a few stray hairs out from in front of her face, “do you think that’s going to stop your mother?”

“Well….”  Taking a moment, Jason stared over towards the door and listen to the shouting, before shrugging defeatedly as he finished fastening the last button on his shirt.  “We might be late,” he muttered softly to himself, under his breath.

“It’s this way,” Jason mumbled under his breath as he slowly led his mother through the school and to his classroom.  Luckily, the hallways were empty as it was a few minutes after the start of first period – they would’ve made it to class on time, except they stopped by Pam’s school and let her out first as it was on the way and that slowed them down a bit – and Jason was happy to see that Todd and none of his cronies were around to harass him this morning.  If they saw him being escorted to class on the arm of his mother, that’d be something he’d never live down!  Blushing slightly, Jason finally stopped in front of the door to his classroom and took a deep breath before opening it.

“Don’t worry,” his mother assured him, squeezing his arm slightly, “I’ll deal with this.”

“That’s what I’m kind of afraid of,” Jason whispered under his breath as he slowly walked in and tried to slink off to his seat.

Every eye in the classroom was focused on him and then his mother as she confidently strode into the room behind him, still barefoot and wearing the plain rumpled white one piece that she’d had on all night long at the hospital.  Taking a moment, she turned her head and stared intently back and forth at each person in the classroom, before focusing her gaze over to the teacher.  “Jason’s not late and he’s not absent,” she told the older gentleman, quite firmly, before warning, “I best not find him marked either for today at the end of this semester.”

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

“Excuse me?”  The older gentleman -- Mr. Flemming – blinked a few times and looked baffled as several students  began to snicker quietly at his shocked expression.  “Just who are you again, Miss…”

“I’m his mother,” Jason’s mom explained, pointing a finger directly over at him, before asking exasperatedly, “What type of jackass teacher doesn’t even know the parents of their students?  Just how much the hell am I paying you to be such an incompetent asshole?”

“Wha…  Umm..   What?”  Blinking several more times, Mr. Flemming struggled to comprehend the situation.  Ridgewood Private Academy was a high class private school for the elite of society; people simply didn’t speak in such a manner to the teachers and faculty here!

“And you,” Jason’s mother turned and pointed a finger at the young gentleman sitting closest to her, “if you don’t take your eyes off my ass, I’m going to pluck them out and stick them in your ears!”

“EXCUSE ME,” Mr. Flemming half shouted and half coughed at the same time, as he hurried over from where he was standing at his desk in front of the class.  Grabbing Jason’s mother by the arm, he quickly pulled her back outside the door and slammed it behind him.

Silence descended heavily upon the classroom as everyone struggled to hear the conversation going on right outside the room.  Only a single solidary “THUMP” was heard as Jason dropped his head down upon his desk and tried to pretend to not exist for the rest of the morning.

----------------------------------------

The rest of the day was stressful, but relatively uneventful for Jason.  Todd and his goons never bothered him, and everyone else was too busy quietly whispering and gossiping between themselves about what happened to actually ask Jason anything.  From some of the whispers that he’d overheard, he wasn’t certain if he wanted to actually talk to anyone for a while.  Rumors of “Jason brought a prostitute to school today to pretend to be his mother”, to “Did you see the cougar Jason brought in?  I hear he’s blackmailing her”, to “that was his sister, just pretending to be his mother”, all whispered back and forth around the school.  Apparently nobody could believe that such a plain fatty as him could have such a beautiful woman for a mother.  She was too young, too sexy, and too assertive – none of the things which most people associated with him.

The only redeeming thing that occurred to brighten up Jason’s day at all occurred at lunch.  While he was sitting with Kyle and Darryl like usual, two of the prettier girls in their class came over and joined them.  He wasn’t quite certain how Kyle knew the scholar student Sera, but the two seemed rather friendly with each other.  Somehow it seemed like the two of them might live close to each other and know each other that way – which seemed kind of odd to Jason.  He couldn’t think of the name of any of his neighbors that he really knew, but in the end it didn’t really matter.

In the end, they’d all agreed that they were going to meet over at Kyle’s house in the morning and then spend all weekend playing games with the girls!

And, after deciding that, the rest of Jason’s day blurred into a peaceful dream of unbelieving bliss.  The only girl whom he’d ever spent any time with were Pam, her grandmother, and his mother.  To think that he was going to get to spend the whole weekend with two of them?!!

This weekend was going to be amazing!
