Spending the day hiding from their parents was much easier than either Kyle or Sera would’ve ever believed. The morning they spent together in the living room watching TV while keeping an eye out for Sera’s family’s SUV, which never showed up; and after lunch they noticed Kyle’s mom’s car pull out of the driveway and leave for work. Going upstairs, Sera grabbed her VRIG and then rushed down and quickly across the yard to Kyle’s house with him.
Waiting for Kyle to unlock the door, Sera slid inside and giggled behind him. “I feel like a bad girl ninja or something, with all this sneaking around! HIE YII!” She spun, kicked, and struck her best ninja pose to illustrate her point. “Now I see why some of those other kids are always sneaking around and skipping school. There’s a rush of excitement with it!”
“Yeah, well don’t get addicted to it,” Kyle warned her. “We’re only in this mess because you overslept this morning and wouldn’t get up!”
“Well you fell back to sleep too!” Sera pointed out shamelessly. “And in my bed to boot! What do you got to say for yourself, young man!” She shook her finger at him and tried to best to imitate his mom. “You’re being a bad influence on that little angel next door and corrupting her. It’s all your fault! If you’re a man, you have to do better!”
“Hey!” Kyle exclaimed, “That’s not fair!” Coughing, he straightened up and took a deep breath. “If’n yer gonna be me girl, then yer gots to be twice da man of any man, jist to be half as good as a true man like me!” Thumping his chests with his fist, he let out a small roar. “RAAAHHHHRRR!!
“Hey now! Dad isn’t like that!” Sera said.
“Well not all the time, he isn’t.” Kyle admitted and they both broke out in laughter.
Taking a bit to enjoy the moment, Sera finally straightened up and pointed upstairs. “Let’s go log in. I’ll have to deal with mom and dad later this evening and try and talk him out of shutting down the store – if nothing else, he can hire someone else to run it if he needs to – so this is the only time I’ll be able to play today.”
“Sure,” Kyle replied as he started up the stairs. “Not that it’ll matter too much, since we’re nowhere near each other in game.”
“Well, maybe I can find one of those travel ring things you and Heather were talking about and come join you guys soon. The way she was talking, it sounds like there might be one in each starting city for players to travel back and forth between.”
“I don’t think so,” Kyle said shaking his head, as he started down the upstairs hallway heading to his room. “Heather did a good job setting things on fire and blowing them up fairly well. I don’t think anyone’s going to be using the ruins where I’m at, unless they can repair them first. And, I know for a fact, it’s not going to be us repairing them right now. I haven’t even finished making my first leaf bikini yet! Who the heck knew that crafting was such a time consuming thing to do in a game!”
“I’d probably help if you had the proper tools and equipment,” Sera pointed out. “Besides, what are you complaining about? You get to enjoy seeing Heather run around naked everywhere now,” she giggled.
“Yeah, and if she ever finds out it’s me, I’ll probably end up dead and in a ditch somewhere,” Kyle muttered to himself.
Sera just smirked and stuck out her tongue at him, before she turned her back and took off her school jacket. “No peeking,” she warned. “I’m going to change out of my school clothes. I don’t ever wear them once I’m out of school, and they’d know something was up if I came back with them on.”
“Fine, I won’t peek.” Kyle turned so he could deliberately watch Sera as she stripped out of her shirt, bra, and skirt. Smirking to himself, he was grinning ear to ear while staring at her pale skin and admiring the thin yellow panties she was wearing this evening. Resisting the urge to reach out and stroke her hair, Kyle let his eyes feast on her shapely form as she shuffled in his drawer and then pulled one of his tee shirts up and over her head before turning around.
“HEY!” Sera stomped her foot and glared. “I thought I told you not to peek while I was changing!”
“I didn’t peek,” Kyle told her with a smirk. “I stared. Shamelessly stared and enjoyed the show! If there was just some music in the background, I would’ve stuck a dollar bill in your waistband!”
“Oooooo!” With a WHAP, Sera grabbed up her skirt from his dresser top, and smacked him across the chest with it. “Then you start stripping! You don’t wear your uniform either, and I’m going to enjoy the show this time!”

“Fine!” Strutting a few times and flexing his arms to show his almost non-existent muscles, Kyle finally started to undress while making “doo dee doo de doo doo” noises.
“And what the hell is that supposed to be?” Sera asked, trying not to laugh.
“It’s my striptease. Just for you. And with music!” Kyle said as he went back to swaying and singing “doo dee doo dee dum dee do”, while pulling off his shirt and waving it back and forth over his head.
“Oh, to hell with this,” Sera said while wrinkling her nose. “Now that I’ve seen this much, I really don’t need – or want – to see any more. EWWW!” With a flop, she fell back on the bed and pulled her pink helmet over her head. “Log in, Winter’s Tale!”
“Hey now!” Kyle stopped and pouted. “I wasn’t that bad!” When Sera didn’t respond, he simply sighed and finished undressing and changed into a pair of gray sweatpants. Snorting, he grabbed up his own helmet and climbed across Sera; taking only a small moment to enjoy the feeling of her soft warm flesh beneath him; before finally rolling onto the other side of the bed.
As he was getting ready to slide his own VRIG on, Sera pulled hers off and chewed on her lower lip slightly. “Something’s not right here,” she told him with a frown. “I can’t log into the game from over here in your house!”
“Are the servers down, or something?” Kyle asked as he tried his helmet on.
“I dunno,” Sera replied after leaning over and tapping the button on top of the VRIG which enabled the cameras so Kyle could see her while wearing the helmet. “I kept getting some sort of strange message about how my device was incompatible with the installed game version.”
“Well, that’s weird. Give me a moment to try,” Kyle said. “Log in, Winter’s Tale,” he commanded from the blue OS screen floating in front of his vision. Just a few moments later, the background faded and Kylie was once again standing naked in the forest, near the ruins where she and Heather had been killing vines and working on her crafting skills.
“I can log in just fine here,” Kyle said aloud, while watching the small video screen in the corner of the game world which showed Sera and his bedroom.
“That’s really odd! Let me try again.” Sera plopped her VRIG back on her head and said, “Log in, Winter’s Tale!” A few moments later, she sighed. “It’d not working. “Your current VRIG equipment is not compatible with the version of the game you are currently trying to access. And then there’s a whole bunch of numbers and such, like ‘Build 0.98b 11.2.687’, whatever the heck that means!”
“I guess it means you can’t log in to the game from my house, using my piece of crap hardware.” Kyle replied. “Can’t you log into the game using the server from your house? Doesn’t the signal reach all the way here?”
“Normally I could,” Sera sighed. “But not today. I didn’t leave my system powered on and running. Someone’s going to have to go over to my house and power on my machine, and then I can connect to the game thru my system.”
“Somebody?” Kyle asked, suspicious that he already knew the answer to whom she expected to go.
“Well, not somebody,” Sera confirmed. “You.”
“Why me!” Kyle complained, while reaching up to turn off the video on his helmet. “Log out. Power off.”
“Because you’re the manly man who’s twice the man that I could ever hope to be!” Sera laughed.
“Fine!” Laying his helm down on his pillow, Kyle rolled back over across Sera once more – this time being certain to place one hand firmly on each breast and squeeze once as he rolled across her.
“Hey! Just watch where you’re grabbing!” Sera exclaimed.
“I am,” Kyle replied with a smirk. “After all, what else can you expect from ‘the manly man, who’s twice the man of any other!’”
“Oooooo!” Grabbing the pillow, Sera tossed it at him. “Hurry up and run over there and turn my system on, before my parents get home and catch you!”
“Yessum, Great Mistress! I, Kyle the Humble, hurry to obey your slightest whim!” Laughing, Kyle bent low and made an extravagant bow towards the bed. “Is there anything else I can do for the Great Mistress while I am out?”
“Bring me back a soda. And a piece of cake, if there’s any left.”
“Of course, Great Mistress of the Squishy Bosoms. I shall return shortly!” Laughing wildly, Kyle rushed out of the room before Sera could throw something else at him. With a loud clattering of footsteps on the floorboards, he was down the steps and gone in just a few short moments.
