Chapter 23: First Impressions

Kyle heard the sound of loud footsteps coming up the steps well before Darryl called out to him.  “Hey dude!  You naked in there,” he asked while knocking on the door.

Sitting up from where he was stretched out on the bed, Kyle got up and opened the door.  “You wish!”

“Not me, man.”  Darryl laughed lightly.  “Why do you think I asked before opening the door?  I don’t need to see another guy’s junk.”

Kyle just shook his head slightly.  “Get on in here.  The others should be here soon, if you’re here already.”  Glancing over at the clock, it was already after nine.  Had he really been laying there and lost in his fantas… err.. thoughts, for that long?

“Nah.  It’s all good.  The guys are downstairs, and we’re ready to check out the babes,” Darryl proclaimed manly.  Kyle tried not to smirk at him. He could talk a good game now, but yesterday he hadn’t hardly even said a single word while the girls were sitting at the lunch table with them.  Sure, he’d talked more than Jason, but he still didn’t say hardly anything.

“Come on, man!”  Darryl urged.  “Let’s go get ‘em.  Just point out which house it is, and we’ll go storm it ourselves!”

Chuckling at such bravado, Kyle told him, “It’s the two story brick house to the right of ours.  Just hop the shrubs and go around to the kitchen.  Let yourself in, or knock on the sliding glass door if you want.  Go ahead, I’ll catch up as soon as I take a piss and then get ready.”

“Sure, No problem!”  Turning confidently, Darryl stomped back down the steps.  Kyle heard him say, “Hey guys, it’s just next door where we’re going.  Kyle said to head on over.  I’ll show you the way.”  A few moments later, there was the sound of the front door opening and closing, as Kyle went to the bathroom.

Strolling confidently outside, Darryl looked around and noticed the gate in the hedge row.  Kyle normally just hopped the hedge, but Darryl was smiling as he led the way around through the gate and around the side of the house.  Just like Kyle had told him, there was a sliding glass down looking in to what seemed to be a kitchen.  Not feeling comfortable just walking right into someone’s home, where he’d never been before, Darryl rapped intently on the glass with his knuckles.

“You sure this the place?”  William asked all at once.

“Yeah.  This is it,” Darryl said, glancing back over his shoulder at him.

“Su.. sure?”  Jason’s eyes were growing wide, and his voice was low and squeaky.”

“Yeah, I’m cert…”

“WHO DA HELL ARE YA PUNKS!”  The glass door slid back and a guff man’s voice echoed out at them.  William’s eyes grew wide, and with a yelp he tossed his helmet in the air and turned and dashed around the side of the house, going back the way he’d came.  Jason was standing completely still, going slightly pale with his eyes wide as saucers.  Darryl slowly glanced back around, and looked straight into the wide chest of a massively hairy giant of a man!

“WELL?  YA LITTLE BASTARDS PEEPING TOMMY’S ER SOMEFIN?”  The huge man wrapped his left hand around his right, and the sound of knuckles cracking echoed in the morning air.  Too much for Jason, he finally turned and wobbled off as fast as his chubby legs could carry him, leaving Darryl to stand there alone and explain what they were doing.  The lumbering giant snarled his face into a terrible grimace and stared daggers at Darryl.  The spit in his mouth dried out, and he was starting to sweat even in the cold morning air.

“I GUESS I JIST GOTS TA KILL YA, THEN!”  The massive man reached out his hands towards Darryl, and he started to back away, both hands in the air to show he meant no harm.

“It’s fine.  Fine, dude. I’m leaving.”  Darryl was backing away as the burly giant slowly stepped outside, in nothing more than a pair of blue boxers, and advanced on him.

“DO I LOOKS LIKE A DOOOD?!”

It was finally too much for Darryl.  Yelling, “Sorry!”, he turned and ran around the corner of the house and headed back to the safety of Kyle’s home.  This time, he didn’t use the gate.  Darryl almost ran through the hedges, he was in such a hurry to get away, while looking back over his shoulder to make certain he wasn’t being chased!
