Kristine was fast asleep, her body curled up in the center of her large, canopy bed. There were stuffed animals scattered around her mattress, from teddy bears to ponies.
A few minutes later, she murmured awake, only to find her body wracked with pain and her sheets stained with blood. She quickly sat up, her eyes wide with shock and confusion.
"What the hell is going on?" Kristine muttered. “Am I sick?”
She tried to step off the bed and make her way to the bedroom but the pain was too much. She doubled over in agony, her stomach cramping and her legs trembling.
"Oh my god," Kristine whispered, tears streaming down her face. "Am I dying?"
Ms. Smith, the head maid, knocked on her door and entered the room.
"Good morning, Miss Kristine," she said to her young miss behind the canopy curtains. "You didn’t come for breakfast this morning. Are you unwell?"
"I-I don't know," Kristine stuttered, her voice breaking. "I think I'm sick. There's blood everywhere."
Ms. Smith approached the bed and pulled away the canopy curtain. "Oh, dear," she said, patting Kristine's hand. "You're not sick. You've just gotten your first period."
Kristine's eyes widened in shock. "My what?" she yelled.
"Your period," Ms. Smith repeated. "It's a natural part of growing up. You'll experience this every month from now on."
“Are you fucking kidding me!” Kristine thought to herself. She was now 12 years old and thought she had adjusted to her new life as a female. Just when she thought she got a handle on her new body, life threw another curve ball.
Kristine couldn't believe what Ms. Smith was telling her. She was a man in her past life, and she had never experienced anything like this before. But now, she had to deal with this intense pain every month.
Ms. Smith noticed Kristine's distress. "It's okay, miss," she said in a comforting voice. "I'll help you through it. I will be back with something that will help.”

News of Kristine's first period was already spreading throughout the mansion. Christopher also found out and decided to pay his sister a visit.
He burst into her room and wanted to congratulated her. "Congratulations,“ he started to say, but stopped himself when he saw how wretched Kristine looked. The dried tear marks on his sister’s face and her pale complexion told him more than enough.
As he stood with his sister as she slept, Christopher couldn't help but feel guilty and insensitive. He had never tried to understand the challenges that Kristine faced as a female in this new life.
“Chris?” Kristine awoke to see her brother’s solemn face. “Don’t worry, I will be fine. I guess we won’t be going to see the theater today.
“Oh, right,” Christopher said, with hesitancy in his voice. “However, I can go to the new VR 360 movie theater by myself."
The twins were eager to experience this new advanced technology at the theater. On this alternate earth, the movie theaters were far ahead of the ones in their past life, with a new VR 360 technology that fully immersed viewers in the film. They heard it was an experience unlike any other.
Kristine frowned. She had expected something different from her brother. She wanted him to insist on staying with her through this tough time.
As Christopher was about to leave her room, Kristine sent her feelings of pain through the psychic link to him, hoping he would understand just how difficult it was for her. She knew it was selfish but her emotions were a mess right now. She couldn’t help it.
Christopher was caught off guard. He was stunned as it felt like someone had just punched him in the stomach. He fell on all-fours as he began experiencing the same pain as Kris.

"Kris, please stop," Christopher begged as he groveled on the ground. "I'll do the same to you if you don't."
But Kristine just laughed. “There's nothing you can send that I haven't felt already," she replied. "I was also a man in my past life, remember?"
Christopher’s face dropped and he knew he would have to bargain with this sister.
Just then, Ms. Smith, the head maid, came into the room with a warming pad, warm water bottle, and tea.
"Here you go, these should help with the cramps. The warmth from the pad and the herbs in the tea can provide some relief," she said as she stepped inside.
Inside, she spotted Christopher toppled over on the ground and wondered what was going on.
"Are you not going to the movies today, young master Christopher?" the head maid asked. “Mr. Daniels is already waiting outside.”
Christopher struggled to his feet and took Kristine’s clammy hand. "I have to stay and take care of my sister," he said, pretending to be selfless.
The head maid nodded approvingly. "You’re such a good brother," she said before turning to Kristine. "You're lucky to have someone like Christopher looking out for you,"
Kristine smirked, trying to hold back her laughter. "Oh, absolutely," she said sarcastically. "I'm so lucky to have a brother who's willing to stay behind for me.

Christopher did his best to take care of Kristine under the guidance of Ms. Smith.
He refilled her tea and applied the warm water bottle to her abdomen as directed. He had been running back and forth for the last hour.
Out of the corner of his eyes, he saw others peeking inside the room from the doorway.
The maids and Ms. Smith were watching as Christopher tended to his sister. Tears were streaming down their faces. They were moved by the wholesome relationship between the siblings.
"Oh my, look at how gentle young master Christopher is with his sister," one of the maids said. "He's so kind and caring."

Christopher ignored the notifications and the maids as he looked at his sleeping sister. Her blond hair was clumped from the excessive sweating that came with her first period. Her eyebrows winched and furrowed in pain as she slept. It seemed like she was having a nightmare.

Kristine lay in bed, delirious from the pain. In her delirium, she began to flashback to her past life as a man.
She remembered all the times they had been sick, lying in bed alone in an apartment with nobody to take care of them. They would go to bed alone and wake up alone. Their body still wracked with pain and sweat while also having to deal with the pain of loneliness.
No matter how much Kristine denied it, back then, they had longed for someone to take care of them, to whisper words of comfort, or to bring them a bowl of warm soup. But there was no one.
She despised that life and hated how her current situation reminded her of it. Her new life was so much better, filled with love and joy despite her new gender.
The next moment, she regained her clarity and saw Christopher refilling a hot water bottle for her. She remembered that he, too, lived through the same experiences.
Kristine gazed at her brother, eyes welled with tears. She realized how much Christopher meant to her.
She couldn’t imagine being reborn in this new world alone and stuck in this female body. The thought of having nobody to relate to or share her secrets with was terrifying.

Christopher gently pressed the hot water bottle against Kristine's abdomen, trying to provide some relief from the period pain. Suddenly, Kristine looked up at him with a grateful expression and whispered, "I love you."
Christopher was shocked by this sudden declaration of love. They were not a sentimental person in their past life. He didn’t know how to react.
"Love you too, sis," Christopher replied awkwardly, continuing to press the hot water bottle against her abdomen.
Kristine sniffled, the tears rolling down her face. "I'm so sorry, Chris," she said. "I know you wanted to go to the movies today. But I just don’t want to be alone anymore, not like before."
Christopher understood that Kristine's emotions were probably going crazy due to the hormones of her menstrual cycle.
He shook his head. "It’s okay," he said softly.
"You can pay me back by earning enough Love Points for the two of us,” Christopher said telepathically to Kris.
Kristine slapped his shoulder for ruining the moment. "You’re such a jerk." She replied telepathically. She couldn't help but start laughing through the tears. She knew he was just trying to lighten the mood.
"Sorry, Kris," Christopher said, a wide grin plastered on his face. "But this was getting way too sappy. We found stuff like this cringe, remember?"
Despite his joking tone, Christopher was still worried. He knew that this was just the beginning of Kristine's journey through womanhood, and there would be more to come.
Christopher grasped his sister’s hand with a serious look on his face, surprising her with this gentle act. The warmth of their palms flowed between them as their eyes met in a silent moment of understanding.
Kristine smiled warmly at her solemn-faced brother, grateful for having someone who understood her plight in this new world.
Christopher returned the smile. He knew this was just the beginning but he was confident that his sister would be able to handle anything her new female body threw at her.
