Chapter 35 - An Unlucky Fellow

Chapter 35 - An Unlucky Fellow

As he walked past the school basketball courts, Christopher noticed a group of bullies surrounding a small cadet. The head bully, a tall and muscular boy named Mical, was fighting the smaller cadet, and his friends were egging him on.

Soon, the smaller cadet was crumpled on the floor, holding his stomach.

"You know, my dad is a Colonel in the army, so don't brother telling on me. I probably won't get in trouble for this." Mical bragged as he looked down at the frightened cadet. "Even if I get in trouble, who cares."

"I didn't even want to come to this stupid military school in the first place," he thought to himself.

Christopher knew he had to intervene. He couldn't resist the opportunity to put this arrogant idiot in his place, especially since the bully's father was only a Colonel. After all, his father was a Brigadier General and he knew he wouldn't get in trouble. It was the perfect face smacking opportunity.

"Stop!" Christopher yelled, like a heroic bystander.

As he stepped forward, Mical noticed him. Annoyed that Christopher was more handsome and charming than he was, he scowled. "Who the hell are you?" he snarled.

Christopher crossed his arms. "I'm somebody you don’t want to mess with," he said.

Mical laughed at Christopher’s arrogant reply and gestured to his friends. "Get him!"

Christopher readied himself, knowing he would have to fight. He knew he could easily fend off these bullies and was looking forward to teaching them a lesson.

As the bullies rushed at him, Christopher took a deep breath as he recalled his Muay Thai skills given to him by the system..

The first bully lunged at Christopher with a wild haymaker, but Christopher easily sidestepped the punch. Then he delivered a crushing knee strike to the attacker's stomach, causing him to double over and collapse to the ground, gasping for air.

Another bully tried to grab Christopher from behind, but Christopher sensed the movement and threw his elbow backwards. The bully's nose crunched under the impact, and he fell to the ground, clutching his face in pain.

Christopher’s eyes scanning the area for any other incoming attacks. He spotted a third bully charging at him from his flank. Christopher responded with lightning speed and spun around, delivering a spinning elbow to the bully’s chin. The bully's eyes rolled back, and he slumped to the ground, unconscious.

He turned to look at Micah, the last person remaining as the Hatred Points poured in. It was quite a haul.

Unharmed but frightened, Mical yelled, "My father is Colonel and he will hear about this. You'll be in trouble!"

Christopher smirked. "Good luck with that. My father is a Brigadier General."

"You're lying! There's no way your father is a General!"

"If you believe that, then why don’t you come at me," Christopher challenged.

Mical looked at Christopher and then at his defeated friends, who were still struggling to recover from the beatdown. He hesitated with fear evident in his eyes. He realized that it would likely end just as badly for him. He was also afraid to call Christopher's bluff. What if he was telling the truth? What if his father really was a Brigadier General?

"Okay, okay, we're done," he said, his voice filled with humiliation. He went to his friends and helped them to their feet. "Let's get the fuck out of here."

After the bullies limped away, Christopher turned to the cadet and offered him a hand. "You okay?" he asked. The cadet nodded and accepted the hand. "Thanks, man. I don't know what I would have done if you hadn't come along," he said.

Christopher shrugged and smiled. "No problem.”

The cadet was a small and timid boy with short black hair with a small bruise on his cheek. He looked up at Christopher with reverent eyes. “My name is Kai. What’s yours?"

Christopher’s eyebrow raised in surprise. He was stunned by the coincidence. It looked like he had just found his roommate.

The sterile smell of disinfectant filled the air in the school’s medical center. White walls and bright lights gave the room an almost clinical feel.

Kristine and Sarah stood in line in this medical center, waiting for their physical examinations. The examination room was split into two sections, one for females and one for males, to ensure privacy and comfort during the tests. Female staff members attended to the female cadets, while male staff members took care of the male cadets.

Finally, it was Kristine's turn. A nurse called her name, "Kristin Williams. Now let's get started with your checkup," she said, pulling out her stethoscope.

Kristine undressed, and as Nurse Walters began the checkup, she couldn't help but gulp as she saw Kristine's bare body. Kristine's skin was flawless and had a healthy glow, not too pale. Her slim athletic body was topped off by her four-pack abs.

“Nurse?” Kristine asked the seemingly frozen nurse. She knew what was going on from the Love Points notification in front of her, but she didn’t want to hold up the line for the examinations.

"Sorry, miss." The nurse snapped out of her daze and continued with the checkup.

The tests began with height and weight measurements to determine if the cadet met the body composition standards. Kristine passed with flying colors. Just looking at her athletic build, it was obvious she was in great shape.

Next up were vision and hearing tests to ensure the cadets met the minimum requirements. Kristine passed both tests with normal scores. She and her brother did not put much effort into enhancing these senses.

The general medical examination followed, including checks for blood pressure, heart rate, and lung capacity. The nurse couldn't believe Kristine's lung capacity and had to redo the test a few times.

Kristine knew it was because of her Lung Capacity trait from the system but didn't say anything as she repeated the test.

After the nurse re-verified her strange results, she was positive that Kristine's results were correct.

Everything appeared to be in order, and Kristine passed her physical examination with ease. She got dressed and joined Sarah, who had also completed her examination, and they left the medical center.

Kristine and Sarah were chatting as they walked outside the medical center when Kristine spotted her brother Christopher and his roommate Kai approaching them. The two boys were also heading for the medical center for their physicals.

Sarah's was starstruck as she watched Christopher approach them. She couldn't help but admire his strong jawline, piercing gold eyes, and confident stride. "Who is that?" she asked, her voice filled with awe at the hot guy. She dreamed of marrying this boy already.

Kristine grinned, ran and gave her brother a hug. "That's my brother, Christopher," she said proudly as she released her brother.

Kai was similarly starstruck as he watch an unbelievably cute girl hugged his new roommate. When he learned that she was Christopher's sister, he couldn't help but feel jealous. He had always been an only child, and seeing the close relationship between Kristine and Christopher made him long for a similar relationship.

After the quick hug, Kristine turned to Kai and extended her hand. “You must be Kai, my brother’s new roommate. I’m Christopher’s twin, Kristine. I couldn't help but notice your face. Are you okay?”

Kai shook her hand, attempting to regain his composure. "It's nice to meet you too, Kristine. Well, I ran into some bullies earlier, but your brother came to my rescue."

Sarah jumped into the conversation, fawning over him. "Wow, Christopher, that's really impressive!"

Christopher gave a modest smile. "I just did what anyone would do. It's important to stand up for the weak."

But Kristine wanted to roll her eyes. She knew he probably did it to earn Hatred Points.

After a few more exchanges, the two groups split up, Christopher and Kai entered the medical center for their physical examinations, while Kristine and Sarah sat down on a bench outside. The atmosphere was peaceful and relaxed, but it wouldn't stay that way for long.

Micah and his friends, already bandaged up with broken noses and bruises from their earlier encounter with Christopher, was exploring the school grounds.

Suddenly, one of his friends nudged him and said, "Hey, look at that girl." He turned to get a better view and felt his heart skip a beat, instant falling in love at first sight.

Micah replied, "Damn, she's hot."

Unable to resist, he approached Kristine, attempting to hit on her.

"Hey there, beautiful," Micah said, flashing a cheesy grin. "You must be a magician because every time I look at you, everyone else disappears."

Kristine wanted to throw up after hearing that corny pickup line. She already knew who he was because her brother had sent her the memory of his encounter with Micah. That’s how she knew who Kai was right away. She even knew the reason why his face was bruised earlier but she wanted to make conversation.

Christopher had been afraid Micah would seek revenge, so he made sure Kristine was aware of the conflict. However, Micah didn't notice the similarities between Kristine and Christopher, only thinking about her looks and failing to connect the dots that they were siblings.

As Micah continued to try and charm her, Kristine's patience wore thin. Finally, she decided to put an end to Micah's advances.

"Look, I know who you are," she snapped. “My brother already taught you a lesson, and I suggest you back off before I decide to do the same."

The color drained from Micah's face as he finally made the connection between Kristine and Christopher. He realized they had the same colored eyes and hair, and he couldn't believe he hadn't noticed it earlier. He stammered an apology, and he and his friends quickly retreated.

He was completely unaware that he had ruined his father's plans. Colonel Cohen had planned for his son to get closer to the Garrett siblings. He wanted Micah to befriend Christopher and Kristine, hoping that by doing so, he could put in a good word for him, making Garrett less suspicious of him, and perhaps even learn some of twin’s family secrets. However, he had managed to antagonize both of them on the first day already.
