A black luxury car sped along the highway, heading for the outskirts of upstate New York. The twins spotted craters with sparse vegetation sprinkled all over the mountains in the distance. They were remnants of the Icarus asteroid that had struck Earth decades prior.
Their family driver, Mr. Daniels, drove them toward the military high school while Christopher and Kristine buzzed with anticipation and excitement. Unable to contain himself, Christopher pointed to the approaching school. "I can't wait," he declared, a mischievous grin spreading across his face. The thought of engaging in some bullying to earning some Hatred points definitely crossed his mind.
In contrast, Kristine started brainstorming ways to accumulate Love points, knowing her beauty and charm would attract plenty of attention.
Although eager, they felt a touch of nervousness and uncertainty because they had never attended a military high school or participated in any type of military training before. The car neared the entrance, and the imposing gates of the academy loomed ahead.
The car halted at the academy, and the twins marveled at its futuristic design, which sharply contrasted with the lush green surroundings. The sleek, modern architecture and immaculate walls showed that it had been recently constructed.
They exited the car, luggage in hand, and stepped onto the grounds of Camport Military Academy.
As soon as the other students saw them, they couldn't help but gawk at the beautiful twins. They couldn't help but wonder if the twins had gotten lost because they didn't look like they belonged in military school.
"Whoa, am I dreaming?" one student whispered.
"They must be celebrities or something," another student remarked.

A series of system notifications popped up in their vision but they ignored them as they passed the gates and towards the school grounds.
When the twins entered the bustling school grounds, they saw parents and new cadets everywhere. Nervous energy permeated the air as families said their goodbyes.
Christopher and Kristine approached an officer in charge of registering new cadets. He looked at them with disinterest, waiting for them to provide their names and information.
"I'm Christopher Williams, and this is my twin sister, Kristine Williams," Christopher announced confidently.
The officer looked for their names in his clipboard and his eyes widened in shock when he saw their information. He realized their father was none other than Brigadier General Williams. He quickly composed himself and replied, "Well, it's an honor to have you both here. Please, come with me. You won't have to wait in line."
The twins followed the officer, bypassing the long queue. Murmurs and whispers of discontent rippled through the crowd of the waiting cadets. Some grumbled about favoritism, while others gazed at the twins with infatuation. They knew the siblings were likely upper-class and well-connected, given their stunning looks.
"Must be nice to have connections," one student muttered bitterly.
Upon reaching the front of the line, the officer gestured to a staff member, who now knew these twins were important. The staff quickly found and handed each twin a packet containing their schedules, room assignments, and other essential information.
"Here you go," the staff member said, offering them a polite smile. "Welcome to Camport Military Academy. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask."
Christopher and Kristine thanked the staff member before heading towards the principal's office. Their father had told them the principal would be expecting them..
In his office, Principal Davis was reading the twin's files one more time as he waited for the twins to arrive. He couldn't help but feel curious. He had never met Garrett's twins before, and he was eager to see them.
Just as he was lost in thought, there was a knock on the door. "Come in," he called out.

The door opened, and Christopher and Kristine walked in. They both had blonde hair and golden eyes, and possessed an otherworldly beauty.
"Good afternoon, Principal Davis," Kristine said sweetly, her smile radiant. Davis felt his heart skip a beat as he met her gaze, reminding himself to stay focused.
"Good afternoon, students," Principal Davis replied, his voice slightly wavering. "Please, have a seat. Are there any issues with your room assignments? I could make some arrangements so the two of you can share the same room."
"Thanks, Principal Davis, but we're fine with the current arrangement," Christopher answered, settling into his seat. "Having roommates should be a nice change of pace."
As the twins got comfortable, Principal Davis noticed their bare wrists. "Where are your Psion bracelets?" he inquired. "Do you plan on hiding your powers? Living a normal student life?"
The twins exchanged glances before Christopher responded, "We had a custom bracelet order, but it was delayed due to the attack. We don't mind revealing our powers. We would actually enjoy a little more attention."
Principal Davis raised an eyebrow, surprised by the twins' openness. Their good looks and high social standings led him to suspect they were used to the attention. He only hoped they weren't too spoiled and had some sense of discipline.
"What do you expect from your time here at Camport Military Academy?" Principal Davis asked, trying to gauge their motivations.
"Well, we want to grow stronger and make our father proud," Kristine replied earnestly.
Principal Davis smiled, a little surprised by their filialness. "Do you have any questions for me?" he asked.
Christopher leaned forward and asked. "I've been wondering why there are so many military academies being built lately. I've noticed online that a lot of new ones have been opening up recently."
Principal Davis was surprised by the depth of Christopher's question. He wanted to tell him the answer to his question but held back. "Sorry, I'm afraid that's a secret, and I can't divulge it to first-year students like you. If you're truly curious, you'll have to ask your father."
Christopher frowned at the non-answer and decided not to pursue it any longer.
Kristine couldn't help but feel disappointed just like her brother at the principal's answer. She also noticed this strangeness and was just as curious. "Well, I guess we'll have to wait for Dad to spill the beans, then." She told him telepathically.
The twins said their goodbyes and left, splitting up to check out their respective dorms.

After leaving the principal's office, Kristine decided to take a walk and explore the campus. As she walked through the campus, she couldn't help but notice the how much male students there were. It seems military academies were traditionally male-dominated.
She approached the newly built girls' dormitory and decided to take a look inside. She had always been curious about her living arrangements and was eager to see what her room would look like. She walked up to the dormitory building and opened the door, ready to explore.
Upon entering, she noticed the hostile stares and whispers of the other female students. She already saw a flurry of Hatred Points notifications and even some Love Points. She smiled and waved at them, enjoying the attention and the envious stares, reminding her of her middle school days.
Kristine reached her room and opened the door. Inside, she found a mess of clothes, books, and other assorted clutter. She smiled awkwardly, a little surprised by the condition of her dorm room. She was soon greeted by her roommate, a muscular, tomboyish girl named Sarah, who was in the middle of cleaning up. She couldn't help but notice Sarah's striking features. Her tan skin had a Mediterranean complexion, and her short brown curly hair framed her face. She also noticed that Sarah's face was filled with panic.
Unbeknownst to her, Sarah had come to the campus a few days earlier and set up in the dorm already because of issues with her home life. She had forgotten that it was reception day today and her roommate was going to show up.
Sarah looked up from the mess to greet her new roommate and was shocked at Kristine's appearance, as she was not used to seeing such a pretty and feminine girl in military school.
"OMG, what are you doing here? You look like you belong in a modeling agency or something," Sarah exclaimed.
Kristine shrugged. "My dad is a general, so I wanted to follow in his footsteps. My name's Kristine, by the way. Nice to meet you," she introduced herself.
"You're in a military family too? Me too," Sarah said, getting really close to Kristine.
"Really?" Kristine asked.
"Yeah, but my mom didn't want me to come here," Sarah explained. "Especially after my dad died on the front lines."
"I'm sorry," Kristine said sympathetically.
"It's fine," Sarah replied with a sad smile. "He died a hero."
The room fell silent for a few seconds until Sarah slapped her own face with both hands.
"Sorry about the gloomy atmosphere. I'm Sarah, by the way. I'm sorry about the mess," she apologized.
Kristine smiled and waved her hand dismissively. "Don't worry about it. I'll help you clean up if you want," she offered.
"Really? Thank you so much," Sarah replied. She was honestly surprised Kristine would offer to help. She looked like someone who had never had to clean or do a single chore in her life.
Meanwhile, Christopher checked out his room. The room was surprisingly spacious and well-maintained, and it seemed his roommate was absent. He saw some half-filled paperwork, probably his roommate's. The name Kai was on the paper.
Christopher decided to unpack his belongings and settle in. After organizing his side of the room, he decided to head to the campus gym listed on the school map he received. He wanted to explore the facilities before he started completing the paperwork requested by the school.
As he walked toward the gym, Christopher couldn't help but think about the growing number of military academies. He wondered what could be going on behind the scenes that required so many new schools.
